Badass New Trailer for GRAND THEFT AUTO V!

Rockstar Games has released a new full badass trailer for their highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto V! For those of you who enjoy this franchise, you are going to love what's in store for you with GTA V. Like I said before, one of my favorite aspects of the game is its open world, and this next chapter in the series is going to be their biggest open world game to date!

GTA V is set in the fictional city Los Santos in the state of San Andreas and its surrounding areas. It based on modern-day Los Angeles and Southern CaliforniaThe game includes three customizable playable characters -- Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, and you will be able to switch between characters “constantly” throughout the game. Each one of them has their own social circles. What's cool about this is that it allows players to see missions from different perspectives.

The game is set to be released next year in 2013, and it looks like it's going to be extremely entertaining! Watch the trailer below, and let us know if your excited to get your hands on the game!

Here's a rundown of the characters:

Michael is a retired bank robber in his early 40s who is now in the witness protection program, and whose wife has burned through his substantial fortune, causing him to get “back into the game.” His friend Trevor, the second protagonist, is around the same age as Michael and described as a “drugged out psychopath” who's a career criminal and prone to violence.

The final character, Franklin, works as a repo man and is younger, in his mid 20s. Franklin is described as "the young and capable one of the bunch." All three come together to perform heists, which are described as “a big theme in the game.”

Here's a rundown of the gamplay and characters:

Players will experience missions as different combinations of the three characters, and each will have a different skillset. For example, in one heist mission, Michael rappels down the side of a building while Franklin uses a sniper rifle from afar and Trevor flies in a helicopter above. Players can switch back and forth between Michael grabbing a target inside the building or Franklin trying to snipe enemies inside. Once you escape, the player can choose to fly the getaway helicopter as Trevor, snipe other pilots as Franklin or fire a gun from the back of the vehicle as Michael.

Rockstar has also changed driving mechanics, noting that cars “hold to the ground a bit better” and have “a little more physics on them,” making driving feel more like a racing game. Shooting and melee combat have also been improved, as have pedestrian models (some pedestrians have now been mapped using motion capture for more realistic movement). Rockstar also hasn’t employed any celebrities to provide voices for the game.

Heists will be a key element, but players will also experience elements similar to Red Dead Redemption’s dynamic encounters, including stopping to check on broken cars and picking up hitchhikers. Players will also be able to chase and catch muggers or rob cash vans.

Outside of missions, players will be able to participate in multiple activities including yoga, triathalons, jet skiing, base jumping, tennis and golf. They can also cruise around the gigantic map in vehicles, with a confirmed list so far that includes several bikes, cars and trucks as well as helicopters, planes, ATVs and jet skis.

BLACK SWAN Writer To Pen Johnny Carson Biopic

Writer John McLaughlin has covered some pretty wild topics in his career, but now he's set to tackle a biopic of the King of Late Night television.

Deadline reports that McLaughlin, who wrote Black Swan, Hitchcock, and the upcoming Jason Statham action film, Parker, has been hired to write a biopic about the life of Johnny Carson based on the upcoming book called Carson The Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait. The Carson estate is on board with the production, and Tom Thayer (who also produced Hitchcock) is producing.

Carson was an interesting guy on screen, but much of his personal life was kept secret. He was a part owner of Hollywood's Magic Castle (which is getting its own feature film), so perhaps we'll see his involvement with that in this film, along with exploring more of the talk show host's personal life. I don't envy the actors chosen to play Carson and sidekick Ed McMahon, because they were such iconic personalities. It's going to be tough to recapture that kind of sparkle. But Hollywood seems to love making movies about behind-the-scenes aspects of famous productions (My Week With Marilyn, Hitchcock, etc) right now, so this certainly fits with that trend.

No director is attached at the moment, but if McLaughlin's script is up to snuff, it could definitely attract big-name talents who idolized Carson growing up. We'll see who emerges in that crop of possible directors as the script gets closer to completion.

Christopher McQuarrie to Direct MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5

It's looking like Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie is going to team back up with Tom Cruise for Mission: Impossible 5. The movie is in the early stages of development, and last month Crusie himself said they were already working on different images for the film and talking about it conceptually.

Both Cruise and J.J. Abrams want McQuarrie to take on the fifth film. McQuarrie has also directed The Way of the Gun, and has written a ton of films such as The Wolverine, All You Need is Kill, Jack the Giant Slayer, The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie and more. He seems like a talented guy. I like what I've seen from Jack Reacher so far, but didn't really care for The Way of the Gun.

Paramount Pictures likes what he's done with Jack Reacher, and Cruise likes working with him. The studio is looking to get this movie on the fast track to production, so I guess we can expect to see Mission: Impossible 5 within the next 2 years.

I loved Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible movie, but I didn't expect him to return for a sequel. It will be interesting to see what McQuarrie does with the franchise.

Benico del Toro in Talks To Play Pablo Escobar

Benico del Toro is in final negotiations to play Colombian cocaine trafficker Pablo Escobar in a romance thriller called Paradise Lost. Del Toro is the perfect choice to take on Escobar in a film. I always thought that if they ever made a movie based on Escobar he would be the guy to do it, so it's great to see that he's going to play him.

Variety explains that the film is inspired by true events, and that the story centers on Nick, "a young surfer who visits his brother in Colombia and falls madly in love with a beautiful local girl named Maria. Their romance seems idyllic until he meets her uncle, Pablo Escobar."

Life of Pi writer Andrea di Stefano wrote the script for the film and will be directing it as well. The movie is not a Pablo Escobar biopic, but producer Dimitri Rassam explains that it "will have a narrative structure in the vein of 'The Last King of Scotland,' weaving Nick and Maria's romance with Nick's ambivalent and destructive relationship with Escobar."

I'm looking forward to seeing Del Toro's performance in the movie.

Epic New TV Spot for THE HOBBIT with More New Footage

Another day, another awesome TV spot for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey! Is it just me or does it seem like we've seen a new Hobbit TV spot everyday for the last couple of weeks? I'm happily soaking everything up for this movie like a sponge though, and this newest spot has even more footage from the movie. The sixth TV spot features a nice little speech by Bilbo Baggins telling the dwarves why he is helping them.

I've heard that even with all of the stuff that been released in these trailer and spots, we still haven't seen anything from the best parts of the film, and that's awesome! The movie will be released on December 14th!

SPLINTER CELL Movie Being Written by Eric Singer

It finally looks like things are moving forward with the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft and Tom Clancy's video game franchise Splinter Cell. The last we heard, Paramount Pictures was competing with Warner Bros. for the rights. It's still not clear if a studio has officially come on board the project yet. According to Collider, Ubisoft has hired Eric Singer to write the script for the film. He's best known for writing the Clive Owen movie The International

The story for the game centers on a covert operative named Sam Fisher who works for Third Echelon. The name of the game, Splinter Cell, refers to an elite recon-type unit of single covert operatives (Fisher) who are supported in the field by a high-tech remote team. The first three games have Fisher trying to stop a terrorist organization who are planning and carrying out attacks. In the fourth game Fisher assumes the identity of a wanted criminal in order to infiltrate a terrorist ring. Fisher abandons Third Echelon in the fifth game, and goes on a personal mission to take down the people responsible for killing his daughter. There's also a sixth game coming out next year in which Sam Fisher is the leader and founder of a new covert organization called Fourth Echelon, after the President shuts down Third Echelon.

I'm a big fan of the game, and I'm excited about the movie. I'm happy to see that it's actually moving forward. I didn't care for The International, but Singer must have some solid ideas for the film, otherwise Ubisoft wouldn't have hired him.

Just for the hell of it, here's the trailer for the next Splinter Cell game, Blacklist

THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES - First Photo and Poster

This is our first look at Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror) in the fantasy film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. We also have a poster for the film as well. The movie is based on the first book of a series written by Cassandra Clare. Collins plays Clary Fray, the heroine of the story.

Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

It sounds like it could be a fun movie. Harald Zwart is directing the film and it also stars Jaime Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Jemima West, Kevin Segers, Kevin Durand, Robert Maillet, Lena Headey, Jared Harris, Godfrey Gao, Aidan Turner, CCH Pounder, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Here's the full description of the first book in the series, City of Bones.

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Last week it was revealed that Neil Gaiman's new Doctor Who episode would feature the Cybermen. That episode is currently in production, and we have a few photos from the set featuring the Cybermen in action.

The episode will air next spring on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US. It will co-star Life’s Too Short‘s Warwick DavisEastEnders‘ Tamzin Outhwaite, and Being Human‘s Jason Watkins. The episode will be directed by Stephen Woolfenden, a second unit director on some of the Harry Potter films.

Gaiman won a Hugo Award for the last episode he wrote, "The Doctor's Wife," and I'm excited to see his Cybermen episode! The Cybermen have been haunting the crime lord since 1966, and the last time they were seen was in 2011's episode "Closing Time." I love the updated look. The photos were taken by healthytowers

We also have a photo from the upcoming Christmas special featuring The Doctor looking very serious.

The episode was written by Steven Moffat and will have the Doctor accompanied by his newest companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman. There's still no title for the episode yet, but here's some information about this year's Christmas special,

Following the epic mid-season finale, the Doctor gets in the holiday spirit in the all-new Christmas special written by lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat (Sherlock). Accompanied by his newest companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, the Doctor’s latest adventure through space and time sees him once again crossing paths with the homo-reptilian Silurian Madame Vastra (NeveMcIntosh) and her cohort Jenny (Catrin Stewart). The Doctor Who Christmas Special premieres December 25, 9:00pm ET.

Doctor Who is such an entertining series, if you haven't started watching it yet, you should give it a shot. They're all on Instant Netflix!

You've got to watch this cool short film, called Birds of Anger, which is a live-action adaptation of Angry Birds in the style of Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic Birds. The short film was directed by Gregg Bishop. The short stars Jaimie Alexander from Thor, and it gives us a "glimpse into a world where birds not only target pigs, but people as well." The short film was part of G4 Films Epictober Film Festival, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Tom Hardy Cast in SPLINTER CELL!

So this is pretty freakin' awesome! Tom Hardy has signed on to star in Ubisoft's big screen adaptation of Spinter Cell! Earlier today we reported that Eric Warren Singer would write the movie, but this casting news is so much more exciting! Hardy, who recently starred in the films Dark Knight Rises and Lawless, is going to be amazing in this movie!

The actor will play Sam Fisher, a highly-trained special operative in a fictional black-ops operation called Echelon. As of right now Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is not set up at a studio, but it could end up either at Paramount Pictures or Warner bros. Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, had this to say in a statement,

Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills. His involvement in the 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell' movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and ... we're confident he'll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story ... while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans.

I couldn't be happier to see Hardy cast in this movie! He's currently shooting Mad Max: Fury Road, and Singer recently wrote the script for American Bullshit which is being directed by David O. Russell, and has Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner set to star.

Ubisoft is also working on bringing Assassin's Creed to the big screen with Michael Fassbender, New Regency, and Fox.

The story for the Splinter Cell centers on a covert operative named Sam Fisher who works for Third Echelon. The name of the game, Splinter Cell, refers to an elite recon-type unit of single covert operatives (Fisher) who are supported in the field by a high-tech remote team. The first three games have Fisher trying to stop a terrorist organization who are planning and carrying out attacks. THE LAST STAND - Final Poster will Blow You Away

This is apparently the last movie poster for Kim-Jee Woon's The Last Stand. It features Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Knoxville blowing shit up with a big-ass gatling gun. You know... I've always wanted to fire a gatling gun! I'm sure it's quite a rush. Schawarznegger has mastered the art of it. Just want to thank Collider for the poster.

The Last Stand will released on January 18th, 2013, and it looks like one of those movies that needs to beseen on the big screen. I love action films, and this looks like it's going to be awesome!

The film also co-stars Rodrigo Santoro, Forest Whitaker, Peter Stormare, Eduardo Noriega, Zach Gilford, and Jaimie Alexander.

Here's the Synopsis:

After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. Cortez’ path: straight through Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement, including Agent John Bannister (Forest Whitaker) will have their final opportunity to intercept him before the violent fugitive slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately rallies his team and takes the matter into his own hands, setting the stage for a classic showdown.

I absolutely love this set of tribute posters for the original Star Wars trilogy. They were created by Deviant Art artist TheBeastIsBack, a.k.a. Christopher Lee, and they are just very fun and playful. I think the style and design is really cool, and there are some great little details that fans of the films will enjoy. Here's a note from the artist,

This is my little tribute to the original trilogy. I’ve always wanted to prints commemorating each of these iconic movies and I finally buckled down and did them. This is the first project I’ve rendered entirely in Photoshop. No vectors were used (with the exception of the logo artwork). What you see here is 150 hours of hand-drawn, and hand-colored work.

So basically, this poster teases the premiere date of the highly anticipated third season of the epic HBO series Game of Thrones, and that date is March 31st, 2013. I guess we'll take what we can get. At least we know when the show will be back! I just can't wait to see what's coming in season 3! I love this show, and it can only get better from here!

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun.

It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lust and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all will play the 'Game of Thrones.'

Crazy New ROBOCOP Suit Design Revealed

We've known for awhile that Robocop's suit in the Jose Padilha's reboot would evolve and change throughout the film. We've seen a couple diffent renditions of the suit over the last few months, but this photo shows us something drastically different.

According to someone working on the set of the film, this suit will be worn throughout the movie.  I can't wait to see a higher resolution clear photo of this, but I think it looks like it could be really cool. It's a lot more robotic and mechanical looking than what we've already seen. I've included a photo of the suit we've been seeing below so you can compare.

What do you think of this new version of the suit?

The movie is being directed by Jose Padilha and also stars Joel Kin Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams , Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

TRUE BLOOD's Alexander Skarsgard Wanted for TARZAN

Harry Potter director David Yates wants True Blood star Alexander Skarsgard to star in his new Tarzan movie. Skarsgard is the director's top choice to play the legendary human ape-like hero. I can see Skarsgard as Tarzan; he's got the look and the build. Hell, he's 6'4"!

There's no official offer out to the actor yet. The studio has yet to agree on any casting, and they still haven't even officially greenlit the movie yet, they plan on shooting it in the summer if everything does go through. Apparently, Yates is still trying to convince Warner Bros. to cast the actor.

If cast, Skarsgard would play John Clayton III, "known around the world as the famous 'ape man' Tarzan. Years after he's re-assimilated into society, he's asked by Queen Victoria to investigate the goings-on in the Congo. Tarzan teams with an ex-mercenary named George Washington Williams to save the Congo from a fierce warlord who controls a massive diamond mine."

Variety also reports that Yates is looking at Samuel L. Jackson to play Williams, "a Civil War veteran eager to redeem himself for his part in the massacre of Native Americans."

I enjoyed reading Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan adventures growing up, and it would be cool to see a great live-action film made. I think Yates is a great choice to bring the character to life, and I wouldn't mind seeing Skarsgard in the role.

Joel Silver Plans SANCTUARY A Supernatural Action Flick at Paramount

Joel Silver has found his next project, according to Deadline. Silver Pictures is currently working on a supernatural-action script, called Sanctuary, for Paramount Pictures. Alan Trezza penned the script that follows "a young woman who is possessed by a powerful demonic force. She seeks refuge within The Sanctuary, a Vatican-run secret organization that teaches the possessed to channel their inner demon and use its power as a weapon against evil."

The project is described as a cross between Wanted and Blade. Sanctuary will be produced by Silver and Andrew Rona, with Silver Pictures’ Alex Heineman exec producing, and Elizabeth Raposo will oversee for the studio. Sounds like a cool project to me, since I liked both films it's being compared to.
