Watch Movie Scenes Play Out Next to Their Original Storyboard Art

$

Storyboard art is a very important part of the creative filmmaking process. It helps the directors visually plan out their shots before they actually start shooting the film. I've always had a fascination with storyboard art, I've even taken a few storyboard classes to learn more about it.

I've got an awesome series of videos for you to watch today from Glass Distortion called Storyboards to Films. They take scenes from films such as The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, and No Country For Old Men and play those scenes out next to the original storyboard art for those scenes. They also include the script notes.

It's pretty cool to watch the side-by-side comparison of these. If you're a fan of movies and of the process behind the art of bringing movies to life, you'll definitely enjoy these!

Outstanding Award Winning Sci-Fi Revenge Action Short REDEEM: THE BEGINNING

"That sweet innocent girl is gone forever, and replaced with that of an assassin."

I've posted a lot of great short films on the site over the past year, but I've got one today for you to watch that's freakin' awesome! It's called "Redeem: The Beginning," and it's easily one of the best of the year. It tells a sci-fi story of revenge and redeeming honor.

The film follows a woman who is brutally beaten, abused, and murdered. She is brought back to life for a chance to exact revenge on the people who killed her, and she's only given a certain amount of time to do it. The short comes from Dennis Petersen who explains that the idea came from "wanting to make a film about a female hero that people felt authentic and true."

I think the movie succeeded in that. Peterson goes on to say that the lead actress trained for 7 months to be able to effectively and realistically pull off the spectacular full contact fight sequences. Some of the stuff in the film is pretty brutal.

A brutal revenge story in a dystopian world.
In a weak and ruling society, not far from today's world, where people are killed simply because they are poor, a young woman named Dina is murdered.
The brutal murder of her becomes a turning point when she is given a second chance to redeem her honor and cold-blooded revenge the perpetrators who took her life.

The short is currently being developed into a full-length feature film, which I will gladly watch! I think you're really gonna love this.

New Photo of Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King's IT - "I Am Everything You Ever Were Afraid Of!"

Update: The new image was removed at the request of the studio. The image we replaced with it above is one that was officially released.

It's been awhile since we've seen anything from the upcoming feature film adaptation of Stephen King's IT. The film is being directed by Andy Muschietti (Mama), and it's currently in post-production.

Thanks to makeup effects artist Tom Woodruff, we have a new photo to share with you featuring Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Clown and he looks creepy as hell. This certainly looks like it will be a terrifying version of the character. More terrifying than Tim Curry? Probably not, but I'm still excited for the movie! To read more information on the character and details behind the costume they designed for him, click here. It's pretty interesting!

There are two films being developed to tell this incredible story. The first one is set in the 1980s and will focus on a group of friends known as the "Losers Club" who band together to battle a terrifying monster who is killing children in Derry, Maine. The second film is set 30 years later in modern times when the monster returns and the Losers Club come back together to try and destroy It once and for all.

Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special) as Bill Denbrough, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as Richie Tozier, newcomer Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween) as Stan Uris, Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs (Hawaii Five-0) as Mike Hanlon, and Jeremy Ray Taylor (42) as Ben Hanscom.

The first film is set to be released on September 8th, 2017.

Internet Rallies Behind Brendan Fraser After Awkward Interview Goes Viral

A very weird thing is happening on Reddit right now. There are just under 10k people currently hoping to "meme" Brendan Fraser back into Hollywood after an uncomfortable interview (that's been re-edited to emphasize the awkwardness) made the website a couple days ago.

Despite its small community, /r/SAVEBRENDAN has consistently kept the actor at the top of r/all basically all week with posts ranging from pictures of the actor, to scenes from movies like Bedazzled

I'm sharing not just because it's interesting, but because watching all this stuff is reminding me how much I love Brendan Fraser! WE NEED TO MAKE BRENDAN GREAT AGAIN! Let's get the word out there!

ROGUE ONE Originally Had Nerf Herders and a Jedi Character

I liked the fact that there were no Jedi characters in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This movie had to be about regular people coming together to fight for a cause that they believe in. I love that the film turned out to be a war movie that wasn't really heavy on the Jedi mythology.

Before we get into who was originally supposed to be a Jedi in the film and why they decided not to use any Jedi in the story, writer Gary Whitta revealed on Twitter that there were originally supposed to be Nerf Herders in the movie!

That would have been interesting. I'm sure you all remember Princess Leia calling Han Solo a "scruffy-looking nerf herder." We've never seen an actual nerf herder in the Star Wars universe, but in case you don't know what a nerf herder is, they are individuals who herd members of the nerf species, which are kind of like buffalo.

As for the Jedi, in The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story book, writer Chris Weitz revealed that an earlier draft of the script would have included a Jedi Knight. He explains:

"For a long time in the story, there were Jedi around, even if only in the background. Jyn’s mother was a Jedi."

It seemed like we did get some kind of hint of that in the movie when she gave her daughter Jyn a Kyber crystal. But now we know that it wasn't because she was a Jedi, but she was definitely a believer in them. He goes on to explain why they decided not to include any Jedi in the story:

"We thought that it would be more interesting to have a story without Force powers, without lightsabers. We could explore a period of broken faith, a galaxy without hope. There’s despair because the Jedi are gone – and with them, for many, even the memory of the Force. That meant our story could be about normal people pulling themselves up by their bootstraps."

That's certainly an excellent reason not to have Jedi in the film, and I'm glad that they went that route. I think it helped make the presence of Darth Vader that much more powerful.

While I was disappointed to learn this video was faked, I do appreciate a good send off to the explosive technology of 2016. I'm guessing The Verge didn't want to do this for real in fear that they would actually blow up a building! I guess the upside is seeing this will probably lead some idiot to try it (hopefully in a safe location), and we will get to see all the toxic and colorful exploding goodness!

Check out the fire (WHICH, AGAIN, IS FAKE) below. ALSO for the person who doesn't click on the link and comments a long rant on Facebook about how they aren't technically hoverboards, call them a banana head and offer no explanation as to why.

How this video managed to elude the Internet for so long I haven't the slightest clue, BUT WE FOUND IT! The video is kind of dampened by it's live quality but try to imagine it like Bruce Springsteen's cut of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and you'll be perfectly fine listening to Morgan Freeman recite "'Twas The Night Before Christmas"!

Maybe if this goes viral enough we can convince him to do a recorded version for next Christmas!

Watch James Franco and Bryan Cranston Feast on Super Spicy Wings

First We Feast's "Hot Ones" has long been known for their engaging interviews with rap artists and comedians asking them questions while they eat increasingly spicy levels of hot wings. In their latest episode, they had James Franco and Bryan Cranston, and while the episode wasn't one of their best, it's still worth watching!

Don't get me wrong, it's entertaining, but not as good as the episode with Eddie Huang for instance...

Key and Peele were also an awesome interview!

if you've never seen the series, I highly recommend binging this one over the holidays! The spiciness really helps break down the walls of these celebrities and helps you learn what they are really about!

Also ,for those wondering just how spicy these sauces are, my brother-in -aw owns the "Hot Ones" sauce, and it's pretty damn hot for middle of the road! I definitely would worry about any sauce after that one!

A while back we featured a teaser trailer for a Futurama fan film that looked super impressive and got a lot of attention on the site...and then we didn't hear much since then. Today, more footage comes to life as Tested gets a behind the scenes look at the Futurama fan film Fan-O-Rama, and things look incredible!

I'm a big fan of this project and really want to see the final project...so let's hope Fox doesn't do what Fox does and cancel the project with DMCA letters and lawsuits! By the way, I received a poster from the crew thanking them for my support last time I wrote about the film, so I know they read the site. So allow me to address them and say, "Good luck guys! You have a lot of GeekTyrant fans eager to see your work!"

CIVIL WAR Ant-Man Sideshow Collectibles Action Figure Review

Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys have an awesome 1/6th scale Ant-Man action figure based on the costume design that we saw in Captain America: Civil War. Sideshow sent me one of these bad boys to review and I've gotta say... I'm extremely impressed with what Hot Toys has done with it. I actually did a live unboxing of the figure last night on Facebook, and I posted that video below for you to watch along with a bunch of photos I took showing off the figure.

I loved this new Ant-Man costume design, and it was perfectly rendered in action figure form. They managed to get every nuance of the costume from the little details of the cool helmet, which has a LED light-up function, to the little details of the material used to make the actual suit. The designers of these figures never miss anything. It even comes along with a little miniature Ant-Man!

The figure also comes with a hand-painted head sculpt that looks exactly like Paul Rudd, a pair of relaxed hands, a pair of fists, and a pair gesturing hands. As for the suit, it's specially tailored black, red, and grey suit with silver trims. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without the silver gauntlets and boots.

It never gets old basking in the glory of these Sideshow Collectible figures! It's fun messing around with them, and of course, they are perfect for displaying in your home to show off to all of your friends.

The figure is currently available for pre-order here. If you're into collecting Marvel movie figures this is a must have!

John Williams Says He's Never Watched Any of the STAR WARS Movies... What?!

$

0

Here's a bit of interesting trivia about legendary Star Wars composer John Williams... He says that he's never seen a single Star Wars movie! I was shocked to hear this, and I'm not sure how that's possible, but it's true. During an interview with The Mirror he said:

“I have not looked at the Star Wars films and that’s absolutely true. When I’m finished with a film, I’ve been living with it, we’ve been dubbing it, recording to it, and so on. You walk out of the studio and, ‘Ah, it’s finished.’ Now I don’t have an impulse to go to the theater and look at it. Maybe some people find that weird, or listen to recordings of my music very, very rarely.”

I believe the composer has come to some of the movie premieres because there are photos of him, but maybe he doesn't stick around to watch them! Maybe he just walks the red carpet and leaves. I don't know! It's hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that he's not only never seen a Star Wars film, but he's also never watched Indiana Jones, Jaws, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind or several other classic films that he's worked on.

Now, of course, Williams has seen footage from these films. Watching the footage plays an important role in scoring the film and gets the mood right, but he's never sat down in a theater and watched the completed films. He has to watch certain film clips over and over and over again, so I guess I kind of get it. But at the same time, after putting so much hard work into making a movie you'd think he'd be excited to see how it all came together, but obviously he isn't. When he's done, he's done.

Willaims is currently scoring Star Wars: Episode VIII

Michael Fassbender Eerily Sits at a Piano as Walter in New ALIEN: COVENANT Photo

The streak of Alien: Covenant photos continues with the addition of this one featuring Michael Fassbender as the artificial person character Walter. There's something a little eerie and unsettling about seeing the character sitting there alone in front of a grand piano in a big white room that looks like an empty Apple Store. This gives a very different vibe to the film than what we've previously seen, which has mostly been dark... mostly.

To check out the previously released images and all the other news regarding the film make sure to click here

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The movie also stars Danny McBride, Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), and James Franco.

Alien: Covenant is set to be released on August 4th, 2017.

ROBOTECH Is Making a Comeback in Comic Book Form

If you are a fan of the classic 1980s anime series Robotech, I've got some great news for you! Titan Comics has partnered up with Harmony Gold to revive Robotech as a comic book, and they've brought on writer Brian Wood (Briggs Land, DMZ) to develop it.

Harmony Gold president of animation Tommy Yune said in a statement:

"We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Brian to expand the Robotech universe. His bold approach to storytelling is thoughtful and will be full of surprises for fans."

There's no artist attached yet, but the comic publisher did release the retro-style cover art above created by Jason and John Waltrip, who previously worked on Robotech II: The Sentinels, Robotech Genesis: The Legend of Zor, and Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles

Created by re-editing three different anime series, “Robotech” originally aired in syndication in the United States in 1984. It’s a sci-fi epic in which the human race finds itself on the brink of annihilation and under attack by a fleet of gigantic alien warships capable of destroying Earth. Humanity’s only hope for survival lies within the secrets of Robotechnology, which allows humans to develop powerful transforming robotic systems and interstellar spacecraft.

It will be fun to see how they continue the Robotech story. Maybe it will actually help push that live-action film forward that has been in and out of development for years.

A couple weeks ago batinthesun released their "Wonder Woman Vs. Wolverine" Super Power Beat Down episode. In it, Wonder Woman ended up killing Wolverine... or did she? An alternate ending has been released that shows us that Wolverine really didn't die, and it shows us how he would end the life of Wonder Woman.

These videos are really well-made and extremely fun to watch. I'm glad that the creative team behind them is still making cool stuff, and I can't wait to see which heroes they have fight to the death next.

Carrie Fisher in Critical Condition After Suffering a Massive Heart Attack

Carrie Fisher, who is best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, suffered a massive heart attack on an airplane while flying from London to Los Angeles.

The news comes from the Los Angeles Times who says that the 60-year-old writer and actress is in critical condition after being rushed to a nearby hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics shortly after noon, after her flight landed at LAX.

According to an anonymous source from TMZ, “The emergency occurred 15 minutes before the plane landed in L.A. A flight attendant asked if there were any medical personnel on board and an EMT who was sitting in the back of the plane came up to first class and administered life-saving measures.”

This is just horrible news, and I hope that she ends up being ok and pulls through this. Our thoughts are with her and her family during this difficult time.

HARRY POTTER Actor David Thewlis Joins FARGO Season 3 with Two Other New Cast Members

$
0
0

With Ewan McGregorCarrie CoonMary Elizabeth Winstead, and Scoot McNairy, Fargo season three already has an incredibly talented cast. It just got better with the addition of Harry Potter actor David Thewlis

EW reports that he will be a series regular and describes his character as “a mysterious loner and true capitalist who delivers Emmit (McGregor), the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, the bad news that he has just become partners with his employers, whose business interests lay outside the law.”

Fargo season three is set in 2010, which is a few years after the events in the first season and a few decades after season two. The report also offers the following story details:

McGregor will play brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy at the center of the story. Emmit is a handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man who sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, Ray, is a cautionary tale – balding and pot-bellied, Ray peaked in high school and is now a parole officer. Coon is the chief of the Eden Valley Police, and a newly divorced mother, who is struggling to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people right in front of them. Winstead will play a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing; Nikki is a woman with a plan, focused on always being at least one move ahead of her opponents.

Also joining the cast we have Michael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire, A Serious Man) who will play “Sy Feltz,” Emmit’s right-hand man and consigliere, and Jim Gaffigan (The Bleeder) will play “Donny Mashman,” who is Gloria’s deputy at the local police department.

During an interview with Vulture, creator Noah Hawley offered some insight into what he is looking to accomplish with this upcoming season:

"It’s a more contemporary story, and I think that’s exciting. Our first year was set in 2006, but we didn’t really deal with what it was like to be in that region in a more contemporary world. I like the idea that we’re now living in a very selfie-oriented culture where people photograph what they’re eating and put it up for other people to see. It feels like a social dynamic that is very antithetical to the Lutheran pragmatism of the region. So many of our crime stories are based on the difficulty that people have expressing themselves and communicating. In a lot of ways, the tragedies that are at the heart of these crimes could all be averted if Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy) could have asked his father-in-law for the money or if Lester (Martin Freeman) could have been honest about who he was, or Peggy (Kirsten Dunst) as well. I like the idea of setting up these pragmatic and humble people against the culture of narcissism and [seeing] what that generates for us, story-wise."

The first two season of Fargo were incredible, and I'm sure the third is going to turn out just as great. Season three debuts on FX in 2017 ,and Thewlis is a fantastic addition to the series.
