The fantastic trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming has been remade in LEGO stop-motion animation. The video was created by YouTube user dt98films, and it's pretty amusing seeing it brought to life in LEGO form. Here's what the creator had to say:

"I absolutely loved the teaser trailer and then the official trailer blew me away. I worked on this right from when the trailer was released. A lot of hours went into this and I do hope you all enjoy :) It was a lot of fun to make."

Mark Hamill Shares His Thoughts on ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

If you want to know what Star Wars star Mark Hamill thought of Gareth EdwardsRogue One: A Star Wars Story, he shared his thoughts on it on Twitter, and he is overwhelmingly positive about it!

Rogue One is a hard movie not to like. I think it gave Star Wars fans a lot more than they expected, and it was probably one of the boldest Star Wars film ever made! If you’ve seen the movie, you know what I’m talking about. Lucasfilm and the creative team did things in this movie that have never been done before in the franchise.

When it comes to this franchise, Hamill’s opinion matters to fans, so it’s cool to hear that he loved it and that he thought is was a great movie.

We’ll get to see Hamill back in action as Luke Skywalker in the Rian Johnson-directed Star Wars: Episode VIII. He will play a major role in that film, and I can’t wait to see the kind of Jedi he became after all these years.

We all got our first look at Baby Groot in action in the first trailer for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and everyone went wild over him. There's no doubt that once again, Baby Groot is going to be a huge seller with merchandise.

In case you want to get a new Baby Groot of your own, NECA has revealed their life-size 10" tall Baby Groot figure for you to enjoy. The figure was designed from the actual digital files that were used to bring the character to life in the movies, and it is made from foam rubber and latex. It is also hand-painted to really get the life-like detail.

The figure is supposed to be released in April of 2017, so make sure to keep a look out for that!

Josh Boone Discusses His NEW MUTANTS Trilogy Pitch and Demon Bear

0

Director Josh Boone (The Fault of Our Stars) is gearing up for production on the New Mutants film that he’s been developing for Fox. A few weeks ago the director showed off an animatic he put together for the film, and also released some concept art featuring the main villain, Demon Bear, which was a really cool reveal. There's also been a recent rumor that the film will be called X-Men: The New Mutants.

Boone recently did an interview with Creative Screenwriting where he talked about pitching his New Mutants film with co-writer and friend Knate Gwaltney to the studio, and revealed that he initially pitched it as a trilogy.

“After I made The Fault in Our Stars, we made Fox a comic book. It walked them through a trilogy of New Mutant films that would build on each other. We used this program called Comic Life, and took all the images we had loved from the series and strung them together to show them the movie we wanted to do.
“We brought it to [producer] Simon [Kinberg] and he really liked it. We’ve been going for the past year and a half to get it ready, and I’m about to go location scout and we have a release date now.”

There’s no guarantee that the studio will green light the entire trilogy until they see how the first film does, but if they do, it’s good to know that Boone has a full story ready to be told and he knows exactly where it’s going. The director also mentions that there’s a release date, but the studio has yet to officially announce what that is. I imagine it will be sometime in 2018 since the movie is gearing up to start shooting next year.

The director also spoke about his longtime friendship with his co-writer, their love for comics, and in the process explained why they are using Demon Bear as the main villain of the story.

“We had loved this X-Men spinoff, The New Mutants. We had loved Bill Sienkiewicz’s run with Chris Claremont that had Demon Bear. It was really dark, interesting, and different from the typical X-Men stories that we had read.”

Boone even posted a photo of Gwaltney and himself reading comics as kids. It’ll be interesting to see what Boone ends up doing with this film. I hope it turns out well, and I hope that he gets to tell his complete story through a trilogy of films.

As you can see, they grew up on the same comics that a lot of us enjoyed reading. it sounds like he'll use that love of comics to make a great New Mutants movie.

I’m sure many of you watched Rogue One: A Star Wars Story over the weekend. Wasn’t it awesome!? I’ve already seen it twice, and I can’t wait to see it again! Since the release of the film, some cool, must-see concept art has surfaced featuring alternate character designs. This is all part of a book that currently available for purchase called The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The concept art that has been released to promote the book features early alternate designs for Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and the rest of the Rebel team, including the first version of Alan Tudyk’s hilarious droid character K-2SO. As you can see in the first image above, the original line-up of rebels had a very different look, and it even had a couple of alien species characters.

I love seeing art for Star Wars films that show us what could have been. Don’t get me wrong, I loved how Rogue One turned out, but it’s fun to imagine that story with these different character designs. Check ‘em all out below!

Live-Action Adaptation of NARUTO Is in Development and Creator Mavashi Kishimoto Is Involved

Over the weekend during the Jump Festa event, it was confirmed that Lionsgate was developing a feature film adaptation of the popular manga and anime Naruto. It was also confirmed that creator Mavashi Kishimoto is involved with the development of the film and will help director Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) in the process of bringing it to life. The story follows teenage ninja Naruto Uzumaki, who dreams of becoming the village ninja, which is the community’s protector and leader.

Back in 2015,there were rumors that Lionsgate was developing this film, but there’s been no news on it since, so I wasn’t sure what the status was. Now we know! Avi Arad has been attached to the film as a producer since it was announced, and if you don’t already know, he’s been involved with all of the previously made Spider-Man and X-Men films along with a ton of other Marvel projects developed by Sony and Fox.

Hopefully the involvement of Kishimoto will help ease the fan’s minds about this Naruto adaptation. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how much influence he actually has on the film when we start seeing what the footage looks like. Some exclusive pre-production art from the film was shown off at the event, but I haven’t seen any of it pop up online yet. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how this turns out. Maybe there's a chance that Kishimoto can keep Hollywood from butchering it.

Here's an epic battle for you to watch to help ring in the Christmas holiday! Bryan Cranston Says There Have Been Conversations About a MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE Movie

Before Bryan Cranston played the badass Breaking Bad character Walter White, he starred in the hilarious Fox series Malcolm in the Middle. I loved this show; it was one of my favorites. Hell, I was even a recurring extra on the show as a high school student during its final season, which was a lot of fun.

Anyway, it sounds like Fox and the creative team behind the series are actually contemplating bringing Malcolm in the Middle back as a movie! The news came from Cranston himself during a recent AMA on Reddit. The actor has said in the past that Malcolm in the Middle was a highlight of his career, and when asked about a possible movie or reboot, the actor said:

"There has been some conversation about that. I don't know if or when that could happen, I guess we have to gauge the temperament of the fans to see if its something they want. But maybe. It would be fun to play with all those people again. It would be like if you (JF) did a Freaks and Geeks movie -bc"

I'd love to see all these characters reunite for another crazy and fun story! It'd be a blast to see where they all ended up in life all these years later. There's a lot of stuff they could do and play with. It doesn't sound like anything is going to happen soon, but it's good to know that the creative team and actors are interested in trying to make it happen someday.

Cranston got back into the comedy game with the upcoming film Why Him? in which he stars alongside James Franco. It'll be great seeing Cranston do some comedic work again! The film is set to be released on December 23, 2016.

Synopsis for BLADE RUNNER 2049 Offers First Official Story Details

A brief plot synopsis has been released that offers us our first official story details for Blade Runner 2049. Since the movie was announced there hasn't been a lot of information on what this Blade Runner sequel would entail, but now we know how Ryan Gosling's character fits into the story, and the synopsis also teases the events that lead him to Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard. The following synopsis is found on the film's Facebook page:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

We still don't know how big of a role Ford has in the film, but it doesn't sound like it will be as big as he had in the first movie. Ford previously talked about the production of the film and said it was shooting for months before he came in to shoot his part.

Blade Runner 2049 is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario) and co-produced by Blade Runner director Ridley Scott. The film also has an impressive supporting cast that includes Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Sylvia Hoeks, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri, David Dastmalchian, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, and Jared Leto.

Blade Runner 2049 opens in theaters on October 7, 2017.

There Was Unused Footage From STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE in ROGUE ONE

0
0

This last weekend Star Wars fans and general audiences flocked to theaters to watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This is the first standalone that Lucasfilm has released, and it was a huge success! Audiences loved it, and the box office receipts total $290 million worldwide so far.

It was filled with lots of great surprises and a few nods to the original trilogy. As it turns out, some unused footage from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope was used in Rogue One in the big X-Wing dogfight sequence at the end. Director Gareth Edwards recently talked about coming across this footage while touring Skywalker Ranch. During an interview with Radiotimes he said:

And as we're walking around, and doing all the cool things and looking at the Millennium Falcon and trying on Han Solo's jacket and things like that, in the back at the bottom was all these cans of film. And we said 'what are they?' and they said 'Oh, it's Star Wars. And you go... 'has someone gone through all this? And it's like 'not really, they're not fully like digitized at all.' We got the neg documents and found the clips from A New Hope that hadn't been used. And there's pilot photography and lines that were never featured in A New Hope.

How freakin' cool is that?! They used actual footage and dialogue from A New Hope! What an incredible way to pay homage to that film. In case you're wondering what footage I'm talking about, I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen the movie so go ahead and scroll down if you want to know.

There were deleted scenes from A New Hope featuring some exchanges between X-Wing pilots during the battle of the Death Star. Those scenes of the pilots were used during the final X-Wing dogfight battle against the Empire in Rogue One, and there's a point in that scene where we see Gold Leader, played by Angus MacInnes, back in action and his appearance caused the crowd in the theater to explode with cheers.

With the help of Industrial Light and Magic, Edwards was able to digitally cut around the footage and insert the characters into the cockpits of the ships that were used in Rogue One. Edwards went on to talk about his experience at the premiere when Gold Leader made his appearance:

“At the world premiere in LA, there was this massive cheer at a particular point in the film. It was the only time during the premiere where I actually punched the air.”

Here's a photo of the character below.

It's the Monday after a new Star Wars movie came out, so it's probably safe to assume that anyone reading GeekTyrant — or at least reading this specific post — has seen the movie at this point. Mr. Sunday Movies is back with a new video that counts down every Easter Egg and reference contained in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and there are a lot. I'm sure you noticed the obvious ones (the guys from A New Hope's cantina scene, R2-D2 and C-3PO, etc.), but there's 15 minutes worth of stuff to point out here, so chances are you didn't catch every single shout-out or callback. Dive in and find out what you might have missed below.

BLADE RUNNER 2049: Watch the Brand New First Teaser Trailer Now

0
0

Holy crap. When Blade Runner 2049 was first announced, I think a lot of people (myself included) sort of rolled their eyes and thought, "Great, another sequel no one asked for." But if this brand new "announcement piece" video, as Warner Bros. calls it, is any indication of the quality of the movie as a whole, I think we all might be changing our tune. This looks pretty damn incredible, and it helps that it has Denis Villeneuve at the helm with Roger Freakin' Deakins behind the camera. There are some unbelievably cool images on display here...not to mention a nice tease of a possible stand-off between stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.

Blade Runner 2049 arrives on October 6, 2017. Joey wrote about the official synopsis earlier this morning, and I find it fascinating that in this movie, it's Rick Deckard who's been missing for 30 years (you may recall, last year Ford starred in another major franchise film in which a lead character had been missing for that amount of time).

Here's What WESTWORLD's Opening Credits Might Have Looked Like in the 1980s

0
0

HBO's Westworld is based on a 1973 film by author Michael Crichton, but what if it didn't take until 2016 for a TV adaptation to hit the small screen?* YouTuber MessyPandas has created a video that imagines an alternate timeline in which Westworld got the TV treatment in the 1980s instead, and the stylish (but kind of cheesy) visuals and the remixed version of Ramin Djawadi's theme song go together almost as well as a six-shooter and a ten-gallon hat.

*Yes, I realize three episodes of a show called Beyond Westworld aired in 1980 before it was cancelled, but don't try to tell me you've actually watched that series.

New Promo Teaser for TWIN PEAKS Features David Lynch Eating a Donut

0
0

Showtime has released a new teaser for the upcoming Twin Peaks revival series and it appropriately features creator David Lynch as FBI administrator Gordon Cole eating a glazed donut. That's it! The whole promo is him eating a donut!

There are so many mysterious questions here like, what donut shop did the donut come from? Did the donut taste good? Was the donut even real?! It could be a figment of his imagination! I guess we'll just have to wait until the Twin Peaks revival premieres on Showtime. In the meantime, you can speculate about the donut in the comments section below.

The critically-acclaimed, ground breaking television phenomenon TWIN PEAKS returns as a limited series to SHOWTIME in 2017. Currently in production, TWIN PEAKS is written and produced by series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost and is directed entirely by David Lynch. While the full mystery awaits, fans can expect many familiar faces, including Golden Globe® winner and Emmy® Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, TWIN PEAKS followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town's sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura's killer, the town's secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues...

Are You Ready to See What Goldar Looks Like in the New POWER RANGERS Movie?

0
0

It doesn't seem like fans have been too thrilled about the upcoming Power Rangers movie. Most of the redesigned stuff that has been revealed seem to have caused some disappointment. For those of you who haven't really cared for what they've seen from the film so far, I don't think the latest reveal of what the villain Goldar looks like is going to help.

Above is an image of the original Goldar, and below you'll find that the filmmakers and designers took the name and just ran with it by creating a melting gold type creature. Like most of the other reveals, this one comes in action figure form, and you can see the photos below.

I recently met a guy who watched an early screening of the film, and he absolutely hated it. He said that the Rangers don't even morph until the final 15-20 minutes of the film, which seems ridiculous. If that's true it's a shame, but judging from the first trailer, it does look like a good amount of the film is going to focus on the characters slowly becoming the Rangers.

Power Rangers is set to be released on March 24, 2017.

are-you-ready-to-see-what-goldar-looks-like-in-the-new-power-rangers-movie1 are-you-ready-to-see-what-goldar-looks-like-in-the-new-power-rangers-movie2 are-you-ready-to-see-what-goldar-looks-like-in-the-new-power-rangers-movie3 are-you-ready-to-see-what-goldar-looks-like-in-the-new-power-rangers-movie4
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

Keanu Reeves Goes Ballistic in Badass Full Trailer for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2

"Whoever comes, I'll kill them... I'll kill them all."

A brand new badass trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 has been released, and Keanu Reeves goes completely ballistic as he is being hunted down by a horde of assassins out to kill him. Like all of you, I'm a huge fan of the first film, and this sequel looks like it's going to be even more action-packed and insane! This is going to be one hell of a wild ride, and I can't wait to see it!

In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.

John Wick: Chapter 2 also stars Riccardo Scamarcio, Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Bridget Moynahan, Lance Reddick, Franco Nero, John Leguizamo, and Ian McShane. It opens in theaters on February 10, 2017.
