New IRON MAN 3 Action Scene Details

0
0

Well, I had no idea that principal photography on Iron Man 3 had recently wraped. So until May 3rd all we can do is create absurd rumors, speculate, watch trailer, look at poster art, and hopefully come across more ACTUAL details about the film.

Mild Spoilers Below

.

.

.

StarNewsOnline reports,

Furniture restoration company Master Craftsmen Services has created nearly 10 different set pieces for the film. Designers there upholstered furniture for billionaire playboy Stark's mansion, including a bed, sofas, chaise lounges, ottomans and chairs, owner Ed Mayorga said. The company also upholstered about 22 theater seats that will be digitally replicated to create an entire theater on-screen. The theater will then appear to have been bombed during a terrorist attack in Afghanistan.

This seems to be another report in which a scene takes place in Afghanistan. The other is one in which a drones start attacking an Afghan Village.

Is Iron Man the cause? Or is Mandarin framing him?

STAR WARS Poster Featuring Rogue Squadron

We've seen a lot of Disney and Star Wars art recently, so I thought I'd switch it up and throw in a cool Star Wars illustration that has nothing to do with Disney. This great piece features the characters of the rebellions Rogue Squadron, and it was created by Mink Couteaux / largetosti. For those of you who like it enough to buy a print click here!

STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Marriage Proposal

At a photo op with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation the photographer happened to be a die hard fan and proposed to his girlfriend who was sitting on Gates McFadden lap.

Will Wheaton recalls the story,

"About 30 minutes or so into this particular session, these two people came in. The girl went to stand between Patrick and Frakes, and the guy directed her to stand in the front, instead. All of us tried to figure out what was going on (usually it's small kids who come to the front, usually sitting on Brent's lap or Gates' lap), and the guy said, "I really love Star Trek, but I love [her name] even more." He got down on one knee, and proposed to her.

Marina started to cry, I felt like I was going to cry, and we all applauded and celebrated when she said "yes." Apparently, they'd met Marina earlier in the day, and Marina had given him shit for not marrying her, so Marina was embarrassed about that."

Here are some awesome photos. Patrick Stewart's face palm reaction is hilarious.

What TV series cast would you propose in front of?

Watch David Cronenberg's 1972 Short Film SECRET WEAPONS

Here's a great short film directed by David Cronenberg in 1972 from a script written by Norman Snider. It's called Secret Weapons, and the movie tells and interesting story of the development of a psychological weapon.

The story takes place six years into a future American civil war, and a scientist has created a drug that enhances fighting skills, and it makes soldiers want to kill. The scientist come across a a force that fascinates him... "mysterious agents who proclaim the existence of magic, and a motorcycle gang that may be the last hope for revolution." The big question is will he give the drug to the theocratic government, or the rebels?

About a decade after making this Cronenberg and Snider reteamed to bring us the psychological thriller Dead Ringers. Wach Secret Weapons, and let us know what you think of this early Cronenberg film!

Cool Short Suspense Thriller THE KILLING JOKE

We've got another cool short film for you to check out. This is a suspense thriller called The Killing Joke. It was created by Sebastian Lopez, and it turned out really well. The story follows a woman who comes across a red balloon attached to a little box. This leads her on terrifying adventure where she's being hunted by a sadistic clown.

Here's the Full Synopsis:

The Killing Joke is a 15 minute suspense/fiction short film about a mysterious woman that finds a red balloon tied up to a curious little box on an eery derelict street. Using classic elements of suspense and working within a seventies aesthetic, 'The Killing Joke' is an action packed film that pays homage to some of the horror movies from that era.

The piece was shot during four intense days of filming in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. The micro budget production was shot using just two 7d canon cameras. The composition and CGI effects for 'The Killing Joke' required months of 'invisible' digital retouching to create the panoramic, yet claustrophobic atmosphere that pervades throughout the movie.

The Film editor was Sabrina Mottino.

Sebastián López wrote and directed the story, and was also responsible for all the impressive post and composition work.

Colin Devlin created the Original Soundtrack, working from his home studio in LA he collaborated on the project with Sebastian from it's inception, creating a wonderful striking symmetry between sound and image. This is the second collaboration for Sebastian and Colin, the first being an action packed trailer created for a fictitious movie called 'Vertical' that went viral on the net, creating a serious buzz for the young director.

Actors Gustavo Marzo and Clarisa Staracci Worked together to portray the intense characters seen on screen.

The Killing Joke was a work of entire dedication and effort.

Check out the 15-minute short film, and let us know if you liked it or not!

The Magic School Bus Takes a Field Trip to Hell!

Here's a great dark and gritty short film re-imagining the classic children's book The Magic School Bus. Book characters Ralphie, Tim, Arnold, D.A., Wanda, Carlos, Phoebe and Keesha all reunite as adults for Valerie Frizzle's funeral, and end up taking a field trip to hell. This actually looks like it could be a fun movie, I want to see what happens next!

Thanks to Moving Mind Studio's Ryan George for sending this over to us! I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did!

Will George Clooney Play Nikola Tesla in Brad Bird's 1952?

0
0

As we previously reported, George Clooney is in talks with Disney to join the mysterious Brad Bird-directed film 1952, which is now being developed under the code name Tesla. This is not the official title, but there's speculation that Clooney might be playing Nikola Tesla. This isn't official, but we can speculate and discuss it. From what we know, Clooney would play a "man searching for extra-terrestrials on Earth," and the actor definitely looks like he could be Tesla.

Now for those of you who don't know, Tesla built some kind of radio machine while living in Colorado Springs that he called a Magnifying Transmitter, and he claimed to have received signals from Mars from it. As you know, the movie will revolve around aliens making contact with earth.

Then there's also a book written by Tim Swartz called The Lost Journals of Nikola Tesla, which has established Tesla as a UFO-hunting guru in the imaginations of many UFO buffs. I personally don't think that Clooney will be playing Tesla in the film, but it's safe to say his character in the movie might be inspired by the famous inventor.

From what we've heard, the story will be set in the present day, and Bird and Damon Lindelof want to recapture the spirit of 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, right down to centering it around a man in his late forties, like Richard Dreyfuss’s Roy Neary. That would be the man Clooney would play.

There's more of a fun and mysterious backstory behind this movie that you can read here if you haven't already. I'm very excited about this film project, and I can't wait to see what the actual story behind it is. What do you think about this whole Clooney and Tesla connection?

TRANSFORMERS 4 Set Four Years After DARK OF THE MOON

0

It was recently announced that Mark Wahlberg will officialy be starring in Transformers 4. There still isn't much known about the story other than one of the other main characters will be a high school girl, and that the story will revolve around an adult character, which would be the girl's father played by Wahlberg.

Michael Bay has released another little tidbit of information on TMZ saying that the fourth movie will take place four years after Dark of the Moon.

The movie is going to continue 4 years on from the attack on Chicago which was in the last movie. So it’s going still to have the same lineage but going in a full, new, different direction and it actually feels really natural how it is going in that direction.

This is the same tactic that Christopher Nolan used with The Dark Knight Rises, which took place eight years after the events in The Dark Knight. The time lapse is a good way for Transformers to get a start fresh without having to reboot the franchise. It would be great if these new films turned out better than the first ones. What are your thoughts on this news?

New Set of Photos from OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

0
0

Here's a cool set of photos from Sam Raimi's Oz The Great and Powerful featuring new images of James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and a flying monkey. Raimi had this to say about Franco's character Oscar Diggs,

In Oz, Diggs is mistaken for Oz the Great and Powerful, destined to be the next king of Emerald City. But he's only to receive that title if he can defeat the Wicked Witch.

Franco adds,

With a history of being a trickster and charlatan, Diggs accepts the challenge, partially because everyone thinks he's the wizard; he has to maintain this facade of being a fantastical wizard to save his hide.

Heading for the Dark Forest to kill the Wicked Witch, Diggs stumbles upon a ravaged teacup-size land called Chinatown. Raimi goes on to talk about one of the characters, China Girl.

Everything in the land, the houses and people made of china, have been broken by the Wicked Witch and her army. Oscar finds the pieces of this china doll and puts them together, and hence the China Girl (voiced by Joey King) is saved. He's telling her she has to go back to the Emerald City, where she'll be well taken care of. But she won't have any of it. He's going to learn by the end of this scene that he's not the only huckster in the bunch.

I love what I've seen from this film so far, and I'm excited to see how this Oz prequel story turns out. The movie also stars Zach Braff, Joey King and Bruce Campbell, and it's set to be released on March 8th 2013! Are you excited for this flick?

Synopsis:

Oz The Great and Powerful” imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

THE GOON Kickstarter Was a Success!

0
0

A month ago a Kickstarter campaign was launched for Eric Powell and David Fincher's CG animated feature film adaptation of The Goon. They asked the fans to help raise $400,000 to create an animated story board to help sell the film to potential investors. It will include the voice actors, sound effects and music. It will also span the entire film. Well, the fans came through for them and they surpassed their $400,000 goal, which is pretty freakin' awesome! The campaign was successfully funded yesterday and closed with $441,900. 7,500 backers came through, some even donated as much as $10,000.

If you're wondering why Fincher just didn't fund the project himself, Tim Miller explained in an interview with Last Call with Carson Daly,

David Fincher writing a check for $400,000 is not going to get this made. It's about getting the fans involved and showing the studios it's not just a Hollywood vanity project.

Creator Eric Powell expressed his thoughts on Twitter after the funding was reached and thanked the fans saying,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you guys. Thanks for pushing us to do a kickstarter and thanks for pushing it! Won a major battle, Goon fans. To win the war we still have to sell the film.

I think the fact that the fans actually came out and gave $400,000 of their own money shows that this movie is something that people want to see! I have faith and confidence that this team of people will be able to sell the film to investors. Here's an illustrated breakdown of what will happen with the funds.

What are your thoughts on The Goon reaching it's funding goal?!

The story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest. The series has a distinctly paranormal slant, with the average story concerning ghosts, ghouls, skunk-apes with an unnatural hunger for pie, extra-dimensional aliens, and mad scientists.

A Girlfriend Who Plays Video Games Can Be Dangerous

Getting someone into video games who does not normally play them is a frustrating task. Most times, people who don't play video games are convinced that they are stupid and childish or they don't have any real interest in them. To get them to see that it's not childish might be an easier feat than trying to get them to understand what's so fascinating about gaming.

If these non-interested people were to ask, "What makes video games special to you?", how would you respond? It's a long and complicated answer that develops over the course of many systems/years, so it's hard to translate to casuals. Seriously, try explaining that shooting people in the head with a golden AK-47 is important to you. Yeah, you'll get some looks, bro.

But what if you tried to get someone to play games, and it went horribly wrong? YouTube personality, Swoozie, provides his own anecdote on what happened to him with a girl he dated. Apparently, things didn't go so well when she became a gamer. Hey, the darkside exists in all of us, right?

Have you ever tried to make a gamer out of someone you know?

Director Colin Trevorrow Talks About STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

0
0

Not long ago, Safety Not Guaranteed director Colin Trevorrow was one of the names that popped up on the rumored list of directors that might take on Star Wars: Episode VII. He's not a well known name yet, but his last film, Safety Not Guaranteed, was pretty awesome. If you haven't seen it yet you should definitely check it out. I was really surprised when his name came up as a possibility, but I can see Disney taking a little advice from Marvel's playbook -- hiring little-known or unconventional directors to helm some of their projects.

It sounds like there might be some truth to the director being in the running because he really doesn't seem like he wants to talk about it, and he's not denying that he's in the running. He was confronted about the rumor while appearing on the podcast filmmixern, and he nervously responded with the following...

I have very little to say about it. [stammering] Certainly, no specifics about whats going on behind the scenes in the selection of that person [a director]. I think that I can speak as a Star Wars fan, which is important to me. Whoever does do this movie, I think, just needs to have a fundamental understanding of why its important to us. We come from a generation who grew up with this as children, to us its almost a belief system. Its harder for people who are older or who were already teenagers when the movie came out to understand how deeply it is our mythology. And there are a bunch of incredible directors who are up for this job… I think whoever gets it will have that fundamental understanding of why Star Wars matters so much to a billion people. Its just incredible. So that’s all I can say about that. I’m equally excited about it. … that’s all you’re gonna get!

Trevorrow was also interviewed at Stockholm International Film Festival by Moviezine, and was asked a ton of Star Wars questions. His answers tell us he could end up being a great choice.

1) Obviously, you are not in Hollywood preparing some big movie franchise. I have to ask: Are you directing one of the new "Star Wars" movies? It is not something that I can comment too much on. But I can definitely say, I am as much of a fan of Star Wars as everyone else for whom Star Wars was the most important thing in their life, when they were a kid. I'm deeply aware of how profoundly important it is, to billions of people. It really is a mythology and possibly even a belief system for a lot of people. I certainly can't comment on what my involvement may ever be, I can definitely say that I would absolutely love to direct a "Star Wars" film at some point in my life. That would be incredible, I'm not daunted by it. Even if I understand that any thinking director who cares about it as I do, as much as a lot of directors do, would be afraid of screwing it up. But I also think that it's a risk that a lot of directors would be willing to take, because they care about it so much.

2) You were just a newborn when A NEW HOPE was released. But do you remember watching the Star Wars movies for the first time? Yeah, the first one I saw in the theatre was EMPIRE. That was before home video, so movies would stay in the theatre for a long time. It was well after it came out. My key memory is that my mom, who took me, got furious with the owner for showing a trailer for "American Werewolf in London", which horrified me and all the other kids… But my first real, indelible Star Wars memory was when I was six, and my dad took me to the local premiere - I lived in Berkeley, California - and they showed RETURN OF THE JEDI on a Thursday night before it came out, and it was 50 dollars per person. We didn't have a lot of money and him spending a 100 bucks in 1983 was a big move. And they had a costume contest before it, and I went as a Jawa. I spoke the language and everything, and it was a pretty authentic Jawa. I won the costume contest and we won a 100 bucks (laughs). I'm sure my dad knew it was important to me, but then again I'm not really sure if he knew. I don't know if people his age can understand how that is going to stay with you for the rest of your life.

3) If you made a Star Wars movie, would you still have it grounded in reality as SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED? That is a very specific example of something that needs to feel consistent with the movies that came before it. That's a sequel to RETURN OF THE JEDI, that's a very specific world and a specific style of filmmaking and a presentation. I think that whoever does that movie, to depart too far, at least for these particular films… You know, they're gonna be making Star Wars films for the rest of our lives. Disney saw what Marvel has done, to be able to take an universe that seemed unlimited and really prove that it's unlimited… I think there is a difference between what we're gonna see in the next three movies, that have an enormous responsibility and are iconic and are completing a story that has existed in the pop culture fabric for decades… But after that, they are gonna be some really cool and exciting Star Wars universe movies. You're gonna see really bold, exciting directors, they'll do a crazy, underworld Star Wars movie and all kinds of stuff. And I'm excited to watch all those movies.

4) So you are saying that this new trilogy is only a beginning for something even bigger? Oh, I think that's just an undeniable fact. This trilogy is a beginning of a universe that my son, who is four now, will be allowed to explore in the cinema for his whole childhood. Thats what's exciting for me, that I get to take my kid to see a Star Wars movie, regardless of who's involved, he's gonna get to see it in 2015 when he is six years old. That is a sentimental and awesome fact for me.

From his response to these question I think it's safe to say that he's in the running and he wants the job. He's still an inexperienced filmmaker, after all, he's only made one movie. But, that doesn't mean we wouldn't do a kickass job directing a Star Wars film. Like Trevorrow says though, "Whoever does do this movie... just needs to have a fundamental understanding of why its important to us." There's a ton of directors in the running, and I think Disney and Lucasfilm will make the right choice.

Director Jon Favreau is at the top of my list, I would love to see him take on the job. You can read what he and J.J. Abrams had to say about Star Wars: Episode VII here. I can't wait to see who ends up directing this movie! Who do you think it will be? What do you think about Trevorrow's responses? If he ends up directing, I won't be disappointed.

The badass looking film is set to be released in theaters on December 25th! Tarantino's films just seem to be getting better and better, and I'm already excited to see what he has planned next.

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Laura Cayouette, M.C. Gainey, Don Johnson, Kerry Washington, Anthony LaPaglia, RZA, Tom Wopat, James Remar, James Russo, Todd Allen and Jonah Hill.

What other actors would you like to see Tarantino work with in the future that he hasn't worked with already?

Here's the synopsis:

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, "Django Unchained" stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival...
