My dog isn't named Ripley, but I still want it to own this! Tested designed this awesome "Power Loader" suit from Aliens to fit right onto the harness of this cute little puppy, and it's truly amazing. Much cuter than the original suit, but probably far less deadly...at least I would hope!

A new poster has been released for the upcoming Power Rangers movie, and it offers us our first real look at what the Zords will look like in the movie. This gives us a better idea of the designs than the action figures that were previously revealed for them.

The poster, which comes from CB, features the five Zords standing in the fog ready for battle, and the focus is on the Yellow Ranger's Sabretooth Tiger Battle Zord. It will be interesting to see these things in action.

I've also included a new photo of Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa with her staff looking sinister and amused. At this point, I'd love to see what Bryan Cranston will look like as Zordon.

The Power Rangers cast also includes Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger, and Bill Hader as the voice of Alpha 5. You can see what Alpha 5 looks like here.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The movie is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), and it comes out on March 24, 2017.

Zack Snyder Adds STAR WARS Imagery to BVS Trailer to Create a Mega-Franchise Crossover Video

$

If you paid attention to movie blogs like this one during the production of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, you'll know Snyder is a big fan of Star Wars. Not only did he reportedly pitch his own standalone film to Lucasfilm a while back, but while making BVS, he and The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams had some fun going back and forth with strange crossover images that combined imagery from both franchises. It all started when Snyder posted an image of Henry Cavill as a Sith Lord, Abrams fired back with C-3PO as the Dark Knight, we then got an image of Batman with R2-D2, followed by The Gotham City Police arresting a Stormtrooper. The last one came from Abrams sticking a Batmobile on the bottom of the Millennium Falcon.

Now Snyder has posted a fun video that actually combines imagery from the Star Wars saga with the teaser of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's a little goofy at times, but for fans who love both franchises, it's gotta be cool to see X-Wings flying through the skies next to Superman and Batman threateningly wielding a lightsaber. But the best part might be Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne staring at a Darth Vader costume in his Batcave. Nicely done.

Here's Snyder's description:

Dark Side Knight v Superjedi. In anticipation of Rogue One, I wanted to share a little Star Wars fan film I made after JJ released his Hunka Junk mashup... long overdue.

You're a hero in the workplace, so why not show it? This Spider-Man neck tie says "I'm corporate" while also saying "I'm also refusing to give up my soul" at the same time! This is the type of tie I'd expect a cool doctor to wear, or even a guy who's about to get a promotion. You can pick it up on ThinkGeek for $54.99. It's a steep price, but that's 100% silk! Imagine rubbing your face against that!

Is that what you do with ties? I don't wear ties that often.

There's a Fourth CLOVERFIELD IMAX Movie Set for Release in 2017

J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield franchise continues to grow! After the original film we had 10 Cloverfield Lane and the upcoming film God Particle. Now there is a fourth Cloverfield film in development, and it's set to be released on October 27, 2017.

The news comes from Exhibitor Relations who also says that God Particle, which was supposed to be released on February 24, 2017, has been removed from Paramount Pictures' schedule. I guess this means they will eventually give it a new release date. We just don't know if it will be before or after this new Cloverfield project.

There are absolutely no details on what this other film will be about or who is involved,  but I'm sure fans will be excited to eventually learn more! I imagine marketing for the film will all start with a mysterious viral campaign.

Here are the tweets that were published announcing the film:

Why DEADPOOL 2 Won't Be Bigger Than the First Film and Why David Leitch Was Chosen to Direct

As Deadpool 2 moves forward with its new director David Leitch (John Wick), Ryan Reynolds and producer Simon Kinberg talk about what we can expect from the sequel in a recent interview with EW. With most sequels, the people involved tend to go bigger, but that is clearly not the case with Deadpool 2. In fact, it's something that the creative team has been trying to actively resist. We've heard that this is one of the reasons why director Tim Miller left the production. Kinberg talks about the goals and challenges of developing the film:

“The goal for us when we sat down and started talking about it was it needs to be as provocative and startling as the first film which means it can’t just be a continuation of the first film. It has tonally and stylistically be as fresh and original. That’s a big challenge especially because they had 10 years to gestate on the first movie and we don’t have that kind of time on the second movie. That’s the biggest mandate going into on the second film: to not make it bigger. We have to resist the temptation to make it bigger in scale and scope, which is normally what you do when you have a surprise hit movie. But actually stay true to the tenets of it’s the tone and the style and the humor that make it so special — it’s not the explosions and the special effects.”

Reynolds goes on to open up about the film's new director, and as you can tell that he's pretty excited about working with him and what he brings to the table:

"Everybody was just a fan of his work. He’s just a guy who’s so muscular with his action. He also really understands those Deadpool sensibilities and where we need to take the franchise from here. And I love John Wick. One of the things that David Leitch does that very few filmmakers can do these days is they can make a movie on an ultra tight minimal budget look like it was shot for 10-15 times what it cost."

Deadpool 2 is currently in the development stage, but it's about to move into production, so that's exciting! They still have yet to officially cast the actors who will be playing Cable and Domino, but that will all come in time. It'll be fun to see how this sequel comes together.

We've got a new video from Couch Tomato to share with you today and this one gives us 24 reasons why all of the Star Wars movies are the same. These videos are always fun to watch, and they offer us some interesting insight into these films that we may not have thought about or noticed before.

With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out next week, Couch Tomato thought it would be a good time to give us a video that focuses on the Star Wars saga. A few of the things that it touches on is how the good guys always escape, how Jedi don't apply ageism, how father figures always die, how the female leads are gullible, and lots of other stuff. Check it out below!

The Trailer for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Is Here and It's Spectacular!

the-trailer-for-spider-man-homecoming-is-here-and-its-spectacular

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have unleashed the first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, and it's absolute perfection. This Spider-Man movie looks like an absolute blast! The trailer is everything I hoped it would be. Now I just want to watch the freakin' movie already! I also includied the international trailer which is a bit different.

This trailer isn't only utterly charming, but it's packed with some fun action and great coming-of-age-style comedy. Everyone involved with the film has talked about how the movie was inspired by the films of John Hughes, and now you get to finally see that for yourself. It's almost as if Hughes himself had a hand in developing this thing and I love that vibe.

There's a little interaction between Tony Stark and Peter Parker as Stark offers him some good and amusing advice throughout the trailer. Then there's The Vulture, who threatens to kill Spider-Man and everyone he loves if he messes with him. He seems like a very bad dude!

This trailer is amazing, and there's no doubt in my mind that this Spider-Man film is going to be great! Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017.

Intense Trailer for the War Thriller THE WALL with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and John Cena

John Cena and Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson have teamed up for an upcoming war thriller called The Wall, and today we have the first trailer for you to watch! The film comes from director Doug Liman, who has made films such as Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and The Bourne Ultimatum.

This is seriously a great-looking film that tells an extremely intense story, which follows two soldiers who are pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, "with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship."

After watching this trailer, I've gotta say, I'm really excited about this movie and about seeing how the story plays out. The Wall is set to be released on March 10, 2017. Check out the trailer for yourself and let us know if it looks like a film you'd want to watch.

Funimation Acquires the Rights to ATTACK ON TITAN Season 2

The long-awaited second season of Attack on Titan is finally coming next year, and Funimation has acquired the rights to it. The series is set to premiere in April 2017 in Japan. There's no word yet on if a simulcast of the show will be done, but fans are obviously hoping that Funimation will make it happen.

Gen Fukunaga, CEO and founder of Funimation had this to say in a statement:

“’Attack on Titan’ became an instant hit since it first streamed in 2013 and we are thrilled to bring fans the long-awaited Season 2 of the series. ’Attack on Titan’ is truly a worldwide phenomenon that has continued to grow at a non-stop pace. Fans can look forward to an exciting second season.”

It's crazy that it has taken this long to get season two done! Over the years it just kept getting delayed, and fans have been getting antsy. Mike DuBoise, EVP and COO of Funimation, said:

“’Attack on Titan’ is one of those rare titles that has reached true cult status with anime fans. It’s been more than 3 years since the last episode of ‘Attack on Titan’ Season 1 and passion from its fans has not waned. We look forward to premiering it on FunimationNow”

It's been pretty cool to see how much the fandom for the series has grown since season one debuted in 2013. It just kept getting bigger and more popular as time went on. The Attack on Titan community is definitely ready for season two and when it hits there's going to be an explosion of excitement.

I'm happy to hear that Funimation ended up picking up the rights. They always tend to do a solid job with the properties they pick up, and I'm sure this one will be a priority they will push to meet fan demands.

ILMxLab Wants to Turn STAR WARS and Other Films Into Virtual World Portals for People to Visit

Lucasfilm's ILMxLab is working very hard to harness the power of virtual reality and what it's really capable of. They're already developing a couple of things like the Star Wars-themed VR experience called “Trials of Tatooine” which was previewed earlier this year. They have also been developing a Darth Vader VR experience that's being directed by David S. Goyer.

These are just stepping stones to what they are really wanting to accomplish. According to the executives at the Virtual Reality Intelligence conference (via Variety), they are looking turn the Star Wars universe and other movies into "portals for destinations that can be visited with virtual and augmented reality headsets." When talking about Star Wars, ILMxLab Executive Creative Director John said:

“We are thinking very heavily about creating a dynamic destination where stories flow through. People were so compelled by that universe that they wanted to get inside of it.”

They are obviously still in the early development stages of what can be accomplished with VR storytelling, but it's something that I'm extremely excited about experiencing one day! They are trying to figure out the rules of storytelling inside VR, and Vicki Dobbs Beck, Executive in Charge at ILMxLAB, explained that this can be overwhelming to people who are new to VR and they made need time to settle in. She said:

“Pacing was one of the important learnings. People will literally shut out something. They will shut out voice-over, they will shut out certain cues.”

It's crazy to think that one day audiences can be fully immersed in the world of Star Wars or even be immersed in films specifically made to be experienced in VR. The future of entertainment is about to take a big, intriguing leap forward, and I can't wait to experience it!

JURASSIC PARK for Real? Scientists Discover Dinosaur Tail (and Feathers!) Trapped in Amber

Looks like Westworld isn't the only Michael Crichton-related thing people will be talking about this week. In addition to the first season finale of the HBO series based on his movie, Crichton's Jurassic Park should get a fair amount of mentions in the wake of this news from CNN: scientists have discovered the tail of a 99 million-year-old dinosaur trapped in amber.

Xing Lida, a Chinese paleontologist found the specimen, the size of a dried apricot, at an amber market in northern Myanmar near the Chinese border.
The remarkable piece was destined to end up as a curiosity or piece of jewelry, with Burmese traders believing a plant fragment was trapped inside.
"I realized that the content was a vertebrate, probably theropod, rather than any plant," Xing told CNN.
"I was not sure that (the trader) really understood how important this specimen was, but he did not raise the price."

Sounds like Lida got a good deal!

Bird wings from dinosaur times have been found in amber before, but this is the first time anyone has seen part of a mummified dinosaur skeleton in those conditions. There's bad news for those hoping this discovery might mean we could see our own real-world take on Jurassic Park, though: no genetic material was preserved inside the specimen, so there's no chance of snagging any "dino DNA." But as that franchise has proven over and over again, that's probably for the best. Still — pretty cool find, huh?

Chilling First Trailer for WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES

chilling-first-trailer-for-war-of-the-planet-of-the-apes1

The first trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes has been released, and WOW! This looks like yet another incredible sequel. This trailer is pretty chilling. Caesar finds himself in a very dark place here. After his failed attempts to try and live in peace with the humans, he is prepared to do whatever it takes to protect his apes from being obliterated by them.

Caesar has to face off against a merciless military man who is known as The Colonel, played by Woody Harrelson. When talking about the character, director Matt Reeves says, "The Colonel is willing to go to great lengths to create a world where things can be gentle again. But the journey he takes you on is chilling.” Andy Serkis adds:

"He and Caesar ultimately face off, yet there’s also bizarrely a kind of respect and understanding from both sides. It’s understanding the condition of the other person, what they’re having to suffer through and what they’re trying to protect.”

This sounds like it going to make for an interesting dynamic. I've been looking forward to seeing the first footage from this film, and it looks it will at least be just as good as the previous two films, which were awesome. Maybe this third chapter will be even better! It definitely looks great!

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

War for the Planet of the Apes also stars Steve Zahn, Terry Notary, and Karin Konoval. It hits theaters on July 14th, 2017.

54-screenshots-from-marvels-spider-man-homecoming11

If you haven’t watched the first couple of trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming yet, you really need to get on that and do that now! Just click here to check them out. I love the footage I’ve seen from this film, and I’m 100% sold on the fact that it’s going to be an incredible film! Once Marvel got involved with the development of the franchise we all knew that they were going to give us something special, and director Jon Watts is going to deliver an awesome movie!

I watched the trailer over and over again last night, and then it got to the point where I went frame by frame. As I did that I took some screenshots for you! There’s a lot of cool stuff to check out. In it we get to see Michael Keaton’s The Vulture in villainous action, and we also get our first look at a couple of different characters that look like the could b Shocker. Both characters are using high-tech electrical device while wearing clothes that mimics The Shocker's yellow color scheme. We also get our first look at Donald Glover. We aren’t sure who he’s playing, but it looks like he’s hanging around the villains in the film. Then, of course, we get to see Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) flying and swinging through the city together. That ending of the trailer was complete perfection.

I didn't really see any other big Easter eggs in the film, other than the fact there are a couple of shots where we see Peter Parker wearing his old Spider-Man costume, the one he wore before Tony Stark came along, and it makes me wonder if we'll see a little bit of backstory to the character before Stark entered his life and invited him to play with the Avengers. I guess we'll find out eventually! In the meantime, scroll through the screenshots and let us know if you catch anything!

Elvis Impersonator Recreates STAR TREK's USS Enterprise From Its Original Blueprints

$

This year marked the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, and while we saw a new movie hit theaters, for many fans, the best Trek-related entertainment ever created will always be the classic episodes of TOS (The Original Series). If you're looking for a last minute way to celebrate the series' anniversary, BoingBoing points out a good method for paying tribute to the show: visit the set of the USS Enterprise in upstate New York.

No, it's not the exact same set that was used for filming, but it's the next closest thing. James Crowley, a fifty-year-old Elvis impersonator from Ticonderoga, NY, was friends with William Ware Theiss, who worked as Gene Roddenberry's costume designer on the original Star Trek series. When Theiss passed away, he left the original blueprints for the Trek set to Crowley in his will, and Crowley apparently rented out an old 13,000 square foot supermarket and rebuilt the entire set inside it. He and his friends used to recreate episodes inside, but in the past few years he's opened it up to the public and gives one hour tours of the set. Wired has a couple of pictures of what it looks like; head over there to see more.
