Marvel Officially Announces LUKE CAGE Season 2!

Marvel's Luke Cage series was pretty damn badass. I loved how that show turned out! I know we all assumed that it would be getting a second season, but Marvel has officially confirmed it on their Twitter feed, where they released the following announcement video:

Luke Cage is such a great a powerful and fascinating character, and Marvel managed to build an incredibly compelling story around him. I'm excited to see where the second season will take him and the other characters who survived season one.

They say that Luke Cage season two will be "coming soon," but I imagine that "soon" isn't going to happen until after The Defenders, which is currently shooting. Netflix plans on releasing two Marvel shows a year and with all the other shows they have lined up, season two of Luke Cage probably won't happen until 2018.

As of right now we have Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher, Daredevil season three, and Jessica Jones season two all in various stages of development.

Full Trailer for Tom Cruise's THE MUMMY Welcomes You to a New World of Gods and Monsters

The first full trailer has been unleashed for Universal Pictures' The Mummy, and it's actually got a fun, adrenaline-fueled kick to it! In the trailer we witness Tom Cruise screaming for his life as the plane he is on is crashing. He was transporting the mummy on the plane, so of course, the curse of the mummy caught up with him.

As we expected, this movie in no way resembles the original film that inspired it that so many of us love. I've been pretty vocal about how I don't really care for the modern-day setting, but I have to say that the movie looks like it could be a blast to watch. We get to see some pretty cool stuff in this trailer. It pretty much looks like Mission: Impossible, but there's a mummy involved.

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The movie was directed by Alex Kurtzman from a script written by Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie. It also stars Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson), and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

The Mummy opens up in theaters June 9th, 2017.

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Creature Featurette, Donnie Yen Focused TV Spot, and More

We’ve got some more promo videos for you to watch today from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The first is a new featurette that offers us an awesome behind-the-scenes look at some of the creatures that were created for the film. We've also got a new international spot from Japan that puts the main focus on Donnie Yen’s character, Chirrut Îmwe. Just last week we shared a collection of images of the Hot Toys action figure based on the character.

The character is a blind monk who worships the Force. He’s not a Jedi, and he’s not Force-sensitive, but he strongly believes in the lost faith. Yen was asked to describe his character in three words during a Facebook live Q&A, and he said, "Ass-kicking Chinese? That's it, isn't it?" His co-star Riz Ahmed, who plays Bodhi Rook, replied, "It's not describe yourself in three words!"

I've also included another TV spot titled "Worth It," which is worth checking out as well because there's even more cool footage to see! Rogue One will hit theaters on December 16th!

This weekend the first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was released, and fans seemed to go crazy over it! It was packed full of some insanely fun action-packed footage with some great bits of humor as well, which is exactly what we'd expect from this franchise! I loved what I saw, and I can't wait to eventually see even more!

As I always try to do with trailers that I love, I went through it frame-by-frame to capture some screenshots and try to find stuff that I might have missed the first hundred times I watched the trailer. Thanks to Mr. Sunday Movies, we have a great little breakdown for you to watch that points out all the Easter Eggs, References, and things missed relating to things like Baby Groot, new team members, villians, Ego the Living Planet's role as Peter Quill's father, and more!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5th, 2017.

Jon Favreau Offers Insight on Happy Hogan's Role in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

$

I was pretty excited when I first heard the news that Jon Favreau would be reprising his role as Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: Homecoming. I like the character, and it's great that they’ve found a place for him in the story that director Jon Watts set out to tell. Favreau already talked about how much he liked Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man, saying:

“I think Spider-Man made me smile every second the character was on the screen. I was so pleased with the tone of the film in general, but those sequences specifically, and I just loved the way they introduced the character. I love the version of Tony Stark I saw, especially in those scenes. As somebody who was part of the beginning of the screen persona of Tony Stark, I thought that this was really impressive and a wonderful expansion of that character.”

I think a lot of fans felt the same way, and it’s going to be exciting to see how they’ve handled the character in his solo film. There hasn’t been a lot revealed regarding Happy’s role in that film, but Favreau recently offered up a bit on insight into what he’ll be doing. The actor told Cinemablend

“I’m like... I'm looking after him. He needs someone to help him out.”

When he says “him,” he is obviously referring to Peter Parker. So he will be providing some kind of assistance in the film. I’m not sure what kind of assistance that will be, but if that’s the case it sounds like the character will have a role in the film that will be bigger than just a cameo. Favreau also talked about his time working on the film:

“I had a lot of fun on that movie, working with Robert [Downey Jr.] and everything. It was a good time, and I liked the whole gang. It was really terrific.”

We just learned that Spider-Man’s suit got an upgrade for the film and will be featuring web wings, which is cool. The first trailer should be released sometime soon, and I’m hoping that we see it with the release of Rogue One. Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7th, 2017.

SPAWN and SAVAGE DRAGON Get Mashed Up in Badass Anime Fan Film

If you’re a fan of Spawn and Savage Dragon, then you’ve got to watch this incredibly cool fan-made anime short film that mashes the two comic book characters together. The short is a fan fiction that was inspired by the special crossover variant cover from Spawn issue #266 featuring an amazing mashup of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn and Erik Larson’s Savage Dragon. I included the cover art for you below the video. The creator of the video, DAETRIX, said:

“It was so epic I had to see him in action. being a Chicagoan myself I was excited to animate one of our cities most well known superheroes.”

I think fans are really going to dig this. I thought the creator did a pretty solid job bringing this mashup character to life. Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think!

First Story Details for INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 4

$

I am such a huge fan of James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s Insidious horror film franchise. The first two films were absolute masterpieces. The third film was ok, but definitely not to the level of greatness of the films that preceded it.

The story will continue next year with Insidious: Chapter 4. This next chapter is being directed by a new director to the franchise named Adam Robitel (Taking of Deborah Logan), and he will direct from a script written by Whannell, who is also producing the film alongside Wan.

Thanks to actress Lin Shaye, we have some of the first plot details for the new film to share with you. During an interview with Daily Dead, she explained that the story will focus on her character starting the Spectral Sightings company with the characters Specs and Tucker. She says:

“[The film] goes back to Elise’s beginnings. And you also meet Elise at a very different point in her life. It takes place right after the end of Chapter 3, when she walks off with Specs and Tucker and they’re starting their company, Spectral Sightings, and they are now living at her home. They’re like her two sons, her two bad sons.
“So it starts out in a very jovial, happy place and then goes downhill from there. And downhill meaning uphill, though. It’s a fantastic story and it took me back into what made Elise who she is. You meet my family, my mother, my father—we go back to my hometown, which is in New Mexico. And so that’s where this takes place and her quest to find the bad guy that’s been haunting her. It’s a really wonderful story. I think the fans will really, really enjoy it. And it’s scary on levels they’re not going to expect.”

It already sounds like a better story than Chapter 3 because this one will actually center around characters in the franchise that fans know and like and will give us more of a background on them. Hopefully we also get to see some insanely terrifying nightmare fuel as we see their story continue to unfold!

Insidious: Chapter 4 will be released on October 20th, 2017.

Dwayne Johnson Releases Some Gritty Brawling Photos from JUMANJI

Dwayne Johnson is deep in the production of his upcoming film Jumanji, and he recently shared some new photos from the film. As you’ll see, they have a very gritty look to them, and Johnson is doing a little bit of brawling. It’s not surprising that the movie would have a very different look than the original 1995 film. About the image above, Johnson said:

"Doin' dirt with my stunt brothers tonight. Rehearsals before the bodies hit the floor... I'm searching for a good spot to break his leg with one shot. This scene also looks like what happens when too many drugs are taken at a party. Just say no."

The story is said to follow four teens in detention who get sucked into the game, where they take on new 'Avatar' forms to locate a jewel. The avatars of the kids are said to be played by Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Kevin Heart.

I’m actually kind of curious to see how this remake turns out. I’m a fan of Johnson’s work, and I’m really hoping he and his team give us something crazy entertaining.

The movie is being directed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Sex Tape) from a script written by Scott Rosenberg (High Fidelity, Con Air). It also stars Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff, and Morgan Turner

Sony Pictures will release Jumanji in theaters on December 22, 2017.

Incredible Sci-Fi Animated Short Film X-STORY Follows an Adventurer Hunting for a Hidden Treasure

$

You've got to watch this CG animated sci-fi adventure short film called "X-Story"! It was created by director Vitaliy Shushko and a team of talented individuals. The short took them to two years to develop, and the story follows a bionic adventurer who embarks on a hunt for a hidden treasure in a hidden city. Along the way, he is being attacked by an army of robots.

The film also portrays themes of greed and betrayal, and there's not a single word spoken throughout the entire story. It's all told through its awesome visuals. The adventurer isn't quite sure what he is looking for until he finds it, and when he does, he finds that the treasure isn't money. It's the control or a robotic super-weapon that comes with infinite power.

This is an incredibly cool animated short, and it's easily one of the best I've seen this year. Please take the time to watch it because I think you're all going to love it!

This Behind the Scenes Featurette for THE MUMMY Reboot Is More Awesome Than the Trailer!

$

Yesterday the first trailer was released for Universal Pictures' reboot of The Mummy. It actually looked like it could be a really fun movie to watch. I described as being Mission: Impossible but with an evil supernatural Mummy. Today we have a cool behind the scenes featurette for the movie that I actually thought was more entertaining than the actual trailer. It's kind of done in the same style as those cool behind the scenes videos that Lucasfilm has released for their last couple of Star Wars films.

The featurette not only features interviews with the cast and crew talking about the production of the film and the story, but it also shows us some awesome behind the scenes footage giving us a glimpse at some other stuff that we will see in the movie including a lot of action sequences and a fight scene between Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe.

It also shows us that they actually shot that crazy airplane crashing sequence in the trailer in Zero G by using the Vomit Comet! Of course, it was Cruise that convinced director Alex Kurtzman to shoot the sequence that way.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

The movie also stars Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson), and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

The Mummy opens up in theaters June 9th, 2017.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Gets an Updated Title Logo

Last year, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures revealed the first title logo for Spider-Man: Homecoming. That logo has gone through a little evolution, and they've released the most recent version of the film's logo, which pretty much removes the whole curve aspect out of "Spider-Man."

There's still so much that we don't know about the story, but we do know that it follows a young Peter Parker in high school trying to navigate that life with his newfound identity of Spider-Man. I'm hoping that we get to see a trailer for the film later this month.

Marvel recently screened some footage at Comic Con Experience 2016 in Brazil and fans got to see Spider-Man's web wings! I've seen a bit of footage from the film myself, and I freakin' loved it! I'm so excited to see more!

Jon Watts is directing the film, and it has a strong cast that includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7th, 2017. To catch up on all of our Spider-Man: Homecoming news, click here.

It seems like a lot of fans are a little apprehensive about Michael Fassbender's Assassin's Creed adaptation. As a fan of the video game franchise, I'm pretty pumped up for it. It looks like a beautifully shot film that is going to offer a decent story and some incredibly cool action!

Today we have an action-packed extended clip from the film for you to watch that shows off an awesome chase sequence involving Fassbender's character Aguilar chasing down a carriage that has run off with a young child. I've also got a new TV spot for you to watch called "Destined for Great Things."

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. The Philosophy of Anakin Skywalker Explored in Cool STAR WARS Video

$

0

At the root of Anakin Skywalker, there is fear. That's what this video says anyway as they take all six Star Wars films and explore what transformed the character throughout the course of the series. Wisecrack does a good job of sourcing and providing explanation so it doesn't sound like he's just talking out of his ass, but I still disagree a bit.

I always thought Anakin felt thrust into a role that wasn't what he wanted in life. Sure he wanted out of Tatooine, but he very clearly didn't want a life of celibacy in the Jedi order. Having the pressure of "destroying the Sith" thrust upon you from such a young age has to weigh on you as well!

Just my two cents, and really not too fleshed out. This video will give you more to think about!

4 Characters From Original STAR WARS Trilogy Rumored to Appear in ROGUE ONE

A cast list from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has surfaced online. If it's the real thing, we have some interesting information on some of the other characters from the original Star Wars trilogy who will be making an appearance. We already know a few of the characters from the original trilogy — like Darth Vader — who will be in it, but there are a few others that I think you'll be interested in learning about.

The cast list originated from Reddit user tphilb, and I came across it over on Star Wars News. Some of the characters included on this list could be considered a spoiler, so tread lightly.

Here is what tphilb said on his Reddit page:

"Because of my line of work, the end credits for Rogue One came across my desk the other day. While I couldn’t take a picture of the screen (phone not allowed, and I like my job), I was able to scribble enough notes that offer some information about who is (and is not) in the film."

After going through the list of actors we already know are in the film these names pop up:

Ingvild-Deila.jpeg
Princess-Leia-Organa_d7761ff5.jpeg

Princess Leia, who is being played by an actress named Ingvild Deila, and her credit was followed by a note that said, "…with Special Thanks to Carrie Fisher." I was hoping that we'd see a young version of the character in the movie!

Guy-Henry.png
Tarkin-ep-4-2.jpg

Then there's Governor Tarkin, who we already knew would be in the film and was even teased in a promo spot. It's revealed that the character is being played by Guy Henry, and again there was a note that said, "…with Special Thanks to Peter Cushing."

serbarristan.jpg
databank_generaldodonna_01_169_d3a64fe4.jpeg

General Dodonna is said to be in the film, and he is being played by Ian McElhinney from Game of Thrones.

Then there's C3PO, and as you'd expect, Anthony Daniels will be reprising the role.
