All Eight HARRY POTTER Films Fantastically Edited Into an 80 Minute Movie

A Harry Potter fan named Tim Stiefler took on the challenge of taking all eight Harry Potter films and editing them down into a single 80 minute magical epic. He did a pretty good job doing it. He calls his creation Wizardhood, and it focuses on the most important moments from the films and completely centers around Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s years at Hogwarts. Yeah, it doesn't really have the smoothest of transitions, but what do you expect when you edit down 9 hours and 39 minutes of footage into 80 minutes. The creator still did a solid job regardless.

Bradley Cooper Set to Star in World War II Film ATLANTIC WALL

Bradley Cooper has been cast in a new World War II film called Atlantic Wall. The movie is being directed by Gavin O'Connor, who most recently directed the awesome action thriller The Accountant

According to the report, Atlantic Wall follows "a lone American paratrooper stranded behind enemy lines just days before D-Day, tasked with delivering intelligence critical to the outcome of the war and compelled to fulfill a promise to protect the young son of a murdered ally."

Sounds like an intense story that will make for a great movie. So far the film has a solid team of talent attached to bring this story to life. I love watching films that deal with World War II history, and I'm interested in learning more about this story.

Cooper last appeared in the film War Dogs and is currently prepping to direct and star in the Warner Bros. remake of A Star Is Born.

Exciting New Details Revealed for Dwayne Johnson's RAMPAGE Film Adaptation

I've actually heard some pretty great things about Dwayne Johnson's upcoming big screen adaptation of the classic 1980s video game Rampage. I recently talked to someone working on the development of the film and they had nothing but good things to say about it, which was good to hear because I am such a big fan of the original game.

The game focused on three human characters who mutate into giant monsters that include a giant Godzilla lizard, a werewolf, and a King Kong gorilla. The three go on a rampage, destroying big cities while battling the military and eating people along the way.

Now director Brad Peyton has started talking more about the film, and in an interview with We Got This Covered, he offered up some new details on the movie and what he is looking to do with it.

"With Rampage, we are using our love of the original game as our inspiration. Then we’re going to build a movie, like San Andreas, that is really going to surprise people in what it delivers. It’s going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect. So you look at that original concept about a lab that affects these animals and makes them rampage, and that’s the nugget. If they called me tomorrow to do Call of Duty, I wouldn’t want to play any of the Call of Duty games. I’d have to come up with something that deserves to be its own thing. That’s where a lot of these movies can go wrong.
"I’m really excited about Rampage. It’s a monster film, so the stuff that I did on Incarnate, stretching my muscles in the horror space helped. This “small, character piece” with horror in it trained me to get ready for [Rampage]. Obviously, it’s a much bigger movie and it’s meant for a broader audience, but there still horror elements, there’s still a monster movie at the core. And I get to work with Dwayne [Johnson] again, I’m so excited about it. There’s the three, the lizard, the ape and the wolf, so we’re keeping it similar but you’ll have to tune into the tease on where we are going with this."

Rampage sounds like it's going to be an incredibly fun flick full of some crazy action-packed entertainment. I like that Peyton wants to give audiences something completely unexpected and surprising with a film that is more emotional, a lot scarier, and a lot more real than we'd think we'd get from a Rampage film.

Hopefully, Peyton can pull it all off and turn Rampage into a great and entertaining movie.

Infographic Shows Us the Colossal Cost of Powering the Death Star

The Empire seriously must have an unlimited amount of money with everything that they have in helping them rule the galaxy. The Death Star is one of the most costly things they've built. We previously learned that it would cost the Empire 15.6 septillion dollars to build the Death Star, and now we have some information on what it would cost to power the damn thing.

We have an infographic created by Ovo Energy that breaks down the costs of powering the Empire's planet-destroying weapon. The total amount of money comes out to be is 7.74 octillion dollars!

The cost factors in everything from taking care of the staff and stormtrooper army, to the usage and recharging of its deadly laser cannon, to jumping into hyperspace, and more. I would seriously hate to be on the accounting staff of the Empire. Seems like it would be such a headache managing all their funds.

Here's the note that came along with the infographic below:

Dear Mr Vader, your energy bill’s arrived...and it’s really quite something. In fact, you might want to take a deep (hoarse) breath about now.
Yes, with the latest Star Wars spin-off set to zoom into cinemas soon, we got to thinking - just how much would it cost to power an evil empire? And what are the practical implications of running the Death Star? Aside from fuelling your planet-destroying laser there are, of course, more trivial matters to consider. Like feeding your crew, dealing with their laundry and disposing of the rubbish. You see? Even super villains need to do chores.

POWER RANGERS: Alpha 5 Looks Like an Alien Baby and I'm Cool With That

I'm both dreading and intrigued by everything that has come out for the new Power Rangers movie. There seems to be a lot of hate from my fellow GeekTyrant co-founder Joey about how the zords look. I'm not fully onboard the hate train with Mr. Paur, I think the alien techno organic design has some really great thinking behind it. I'm waiting until I see them in action in a trailer to solidify any judgment.

Today, we have our first look at Zordon's helpful assistant Alpha 5. Even as a kid watching Power Rangers, Alpha 5 was always a "dude in a suit" in my head. I never really thought of him as alien. These images present Alpha 5 as a friendly looking alien baby robot. The red color and flying saucer head are held over from his original design. Completely new are his headlight eyes and more alien proportions. With Bill Hader voicing Alpha 5, the often panic-stricken robot this could be a fun a relatable character. Upon seeing the design, the resident toddler in my house said, "Oh look, Alpha 5. He's got a belly. Cool!"

I'm really hoping we get a full trailer soon so we can see if the film truly warrants some of the hate it's gotten. Having been a long time Power Rangers fan, I'm hoping the movie is good and that it will bring regular people into its universe. With audiences accepting and being open to the weirdness of Doctor Stranger and Guardians of The Galaxy, I think this the best time for this film.

In Today's "No Duh" News, STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Will Not Have a Sequel Because It Already Exists

$

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first standalone film that will be released by Lucasfilm, and it looks like it's going to deliver something special. The movie is set before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and follows a group of Rebels who embark on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star from the Empire. The basic plot of the story is laid out in the opening crawl of A New Hope

Because of this, it was fairly obvious that there wouldn't be a sequel because A New Hope is basically the sequel that already exists. Just in case you were wondering if there would be a sequel, though, the answer is no. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed it in the most recent issue of Empire Magazine. So don't expect to see a "Rogue Two."

The idea for Rogue One came from VFX artist John Knollstates, and he always intended for it to be self-contained movie. Director Gareth Edwards even offered his opinion on a sequel jokingly saying, “That sequel will be directed by George Lucas,” which is obviously a reference to A New Hope.

I think one of the cool aspects about this Star Wars Story films is the fact that every standalone film doesn't need to be a trilogy or saga. They can just tell a single story and move on with something completely different that is set in the same universe.

Robin Williams Explains How He Got the Voice for MRS. DOUBTFIRE

Old interviews like this really make me miss Robin Williams. While his films are a good reminder of his talent, it's easy to forget what a presence he was outside of films. This 1993 interview is a great example of that presence. Williams gets one question about his Scottish accent he donned for Mrs. Doubtfire and goes on a minute and a half-Scottish rant! It's incredible how this guy always seemed to be on when it came to entertaining others.

Thanks to a recent report from THR, we now know when Marvel's The Inhumans series will premiere on TV. We've already learned that the first two episodes of the series will debut on more than 1,000 IMAX screens starting Labor Day weekend, which means it will most likely hit theaters on September 1st, 2017.

As far as its TV debut, it will start its eight episode run on ABC on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017. All eight episodes are expected to run on the network over consecutive Tuesdays, which means that the finale will air on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017.

The Inhumans TV series is expected to focus on Black Bolt and the Inhumans royal family and the first two episodes will be shot entirely in IMAX. It's also not going to be an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff. Marvel is going all out on this series, and I hope that they give fans something unprecedented and epic.

The series is in early development, and as far as we know there are no actors or directors attached to it yet.

Joaquin Phoenix and Gus Van Sant Are Teaming Up for a Biopic on Cartoonist John Callahan

$

Joaquin Phoenix is set to star in director Gus Van Sant's biopic about the life of quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan. This is a powerful story, and I think Phoenix and Van Sant are the right people for the job to tell it.

Callahan became an alcoholic at the age of 12, a drug abuser in his mid-teens and a quadriplegic at 21 after being involved in a car accident after a day of drinking. He managed to rebuild his life to become an envelope-pushing cartoonist, learning to use both hands to draw, for example, and also reconciling with members of his family.

Yeah, his life starts out as a really depressing downer, but it turns into an inspirational story. Van Sant, who directed films such as Good Will Hunting, Milk, and most recently, The Sea of Trees, has been trying to get this film project off the ground since the early 2000s.

Robin Williams was also a big fan of the artist and tried to get a movie made back in the '90s based on Callahan's book, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot. I imagine this book will serve as inspiration for Van Sant's film, and this is the description of it:

Is it possible to find humor -- corrosive, taboo-shattering, laugh-till-you-cry humor -- in the story of a 38-year-old- cartoonist who's both a quadriplegic and a recovering alcoholic? The answer is yes, if the cartoonist is John Callahan -- whose infamous work has graced the pages of Omni, Penthouse, and The New Yorker -- and if he's telling it in his own words and pictures. But Callahan's uncensored account of his troubled -- and sometimes impossible -- life is also genuinely inspiring. Without self-pity or self-righteousness, this liberating book tells us how a quadriplegic with a healthy libido has sex, what it's like to live in the exitless maze of the welfare system, where a cartoonist finds his comedy, and how a man with no reason to believe in anything discovers his own brand of faith.

This film will mark Van Sant and Phoenix’s first time working together since the actor’s breakout performance in 1995’s To Die For.

When I first started watching this video (via Laughing Squid), I didn't understand the hype. What sounds like some dude narrating Game of Thrones in a monotone voice quickly becomes an eloquent and amazingly constructed breakdown of the world of Westeros from seasons one through six! Even if you've seen the series and are current, this video serves as a great refresher on what is going on with every character in the series.

Epic 9 Minute Trailer for the Fantasy Action Film THE GREAT WALL

A 9 minute Chinese trailer has been released for Matt Damon's upcoming fantasy action film The Great Wall. I don't recall ever seeing a 9 minute trailer before! It's obviously loaded with tons of new footage, and this movie looks like it's going to be a crazy fun epic! The visuals of this film look freakin' stunning!

The trailer spends a good amount of time introducing us to five of the main Chinese characters in the film. I have no idea what the trailer is saying, but I still enjoyed watching it.

The story was inspired by the construction of The Great Wall of China, but there's a whole cool fantasy element to it that involves an army of warriors battling giant creatures.

The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.

The film was directed by Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers), and it's the first English-language production for him. It's also the largest film ever shot entirely in China. The Great Wall also stars Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Tian Jing, Eddie Peng, Numan Acar, Han Lu, Kenny Lin, and Zhang Hanyu

Here's a Trailer for THE WITCH If Wes Anderson Directed It

I've seen a few "Wes Anderson directed" parodies in my day, but I'll be damned if this isn't the best! Cinefix went and imagined what it would be like if the iconic director had helmed the indie horror film The Witch, and it's spot on!

This parody also reminded me how warped and messed up The Witch is. If you haven't seen it and you're a fan of horror, check it out!

Billy Dee Williams Will Provide the Voice of Two-Face in THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay just announced that Billy Dee Williams will provide the voice of Two-Face in the film! What makes this casting so awesome is the fact that Williams played Harvey Dent, who becomes Two-Face, in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman.

We never got to see his transformation into Two-Face in Burton's Batman movies, so I couldn't be happier to hear that he will in some way be reprising his role after all these years.

Williams joins an incredibly fun cast actors in the film, which also include Will Arnett as Batman, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Michael Cera as Robin, Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and Rosario Dawson as Catwoman.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO® Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure: The LEGO® BatmanMovie. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

The LEGO Batman Movie is set to be released on February 10, 2017. To watch the hilarious trailers that have been released for it and to catch up on all the other news, make sure to click here.

Sebastian Stan Gets an Awesome Winter Soldier-Themed Shield

Sebastian Stan recently posted a photo of himself on Instagram showing off a Winter Soldier-themed shield that was created for him by Casey McBroom of Shield Labs, who creates these customized shields for fans and cosplayers. As you can see, this one was designed to look like Winter Solider's metal arm.

Fans have already started to speculate that this might mean something for the character in the upcoming Avengers sequels because he included this following caption with the video:

"Excuse me...where's the restroom?" A big thank you and shout out to Casey McBroom @shield_labs for making this for me. Will come in handy... #wintersoldier #marvel

It's the "will come in handy" part that makes people think the actor is teasing something about his character possibly being the new Captain America. I don't think that's the case at all, though. This isn't a prop from the movie, this is just a wicked cool customized shield that was made for the actor, and he's clearly just showing it off.

Another photo from the set of Alien: Covenant has been released featuring director Ridley Scott and the iconic Space Jockey chair. The mysterious Space Jockey was first introduced in Alien and its origin was revealed in Prometheus. It looks like it will now play a part in the new film. We'll just have to wait and see what that role will be.

Just in case you don't know, today is Scott's 78th birthday, and Alien: Covenant marks his 24th feature film. The guy has had an incredible career making some amazing movies. He's also being honored for his work as he is set to receive the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Achievement in Motion Picture Direction. DGA President Paris Barclay offered the following statement:

"Masterful in any genre, Ridley’s groundbreaking methods and peerless directing instincts have brought to life some of the most memorable films of our time, capturing the resilience of the human spirit and captivating the hearts and minds of audiences around the world. Stunning visuals, immersive worlds and powerful performances underpin his diverse body of work which ranges from Alien, Blade Runner and Thelma & Louise to Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and, most recently, The Martian. Over the course of four decades, his trailblazing career has demonstrated the impact and importance of the director’s singular vision. For these reasons, and so many more, we are honored to present the Lifetime Achievement Award in feature film to Ridley Scott."

The award is obviously well deserved.
