Archie is running in his underwear, checked out by Veronica, and slammed into a vending machine by Reggie in the latest promo for the upcoming series Riverdale. Yes, this is a gritty reboot of the beloved Archie comics you've undoubtedly read at some point in your life. Greg Berlanti is producing this one (as is the CW way), and things look just as dramatic as every other show currently on the station's primetime lineup.

We'll all find out whether or not this show turns out to be legitimate or some hilariously bad joke come January 26th.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Trailer Recreated in LEGO

I've been surprised by the lack of constant teaser trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2. I feel like the typical Marvel movie has about three to four trailers in the time it took one trailer to hit the web! While we wait for that next bit of footage to salivate over, take a look at this wonderful recreation of the trailer using LEGO! Hats off to Huxley Berg Studios for an amazing job, and thanks to Slashfilm for the heads up!

Watch GAME OF THRONES Season 7 Teased in HBO Promo Video

While Game of Thrones fans are thirsty for anything about season seven, HBO dropped a three shot tease in a large "Coming in 2017" promo for the channel. In the three shots you see Sansa, Jon Snow, and Arya. I'm sure this will get the wheels turning for fans to speculate on things like, what's the name of the horse, and does the horse like carrots? Game of Thrones returns summer 2017.

MYTHBUSTERS' Lesser Crew Returns With Trailer for Netflix Series WHITE RABBIT PROJECT

No disrespect to Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara with my title, I just couldn't think of a way to say, "Adam and Jamie aren't in this," in the title! While their role was less substantial than the main hosts in Mythbusters, it looks like they have what it takes to take the lead in their new Netflix exclusive series! White Rabbit Project looks to be Mythbusters 2.0 with crazier experiments, better camera quality, and possibly a bigger budget?

The trailer does a really good job at making you think this is more of the same, while also looking better than the original series! Watch it below and binge the whole series on Netflix December 9th!

Fascinating Rumor About Why Lucasfilm Isn't Developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi STAR WARS Story Yet

0
0

We've been hearing rumors for awhile that an A Star Wars Story film based on Obi-Wan Kenobi has been considered at Lucasfilm. Actor Ewan McGregor said that he would be interested in reprising the role if they did move forward with the development of the film. In a previous interview, the actor explained:

“I’ve always thought there was a story to tell between my last one and Alec Guinness’ first one. It would be fun to film that story now I’m older. I’d be the right age. I’m forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them (laughs)!”

As of right now there has been no official statement from Lucasfilm regarding an Obi-Wan film, but according to EW's Anthony Breznican, a film based on the Jedi Master is not in development at the moment, and while talking to the "Rebel Force Radio" podcast this weekend he gave a fascinating reason as to why that might the case.

This is just a rumor, but if it turns out to be true it could prove to be a major spoiler for future Star Wars films, so don't read ahead if you don't want to know.

Here's what Breznican had to say:

"I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven't moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they're not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the Saga films. So I wouldn't be surprised to see an Obi-Wan [solo film] happen beyond Episode IX."

So there's a chance that Obi-Wan could show up in a future Sags film, which would be pretty damn cool if it's true. I'd love to see Obi-Wan show up again in his ghost force form. There were rumors before The Force Awakens came out that McGregor would reprise his role as Obi-Wan in the sequel trilogy, so maybe there is some actual truth to those. McGregor did end up doing some voiceover work that was mashed together with the voice of Alec Guinness in The Force Awakens saying, "Rey? These are the first steps." The next logical step to to see his force ghost show up!

I don't know why the character appearing in the Star Wars saga films would keep Lucasfilm from developing a standalone film project for him, but if it's true I guess they have their reasons.

It would be interesting to see how Rey and Obi-Wan are connected with each other. Since he did talk to her, there should be something there between the two characters. Like I said earlier, though, this is all just a rumor. We'll just have to wait and see if there is any truth to it when we see how the rest of the Star Wars saga plays out.

Kevin Smith Wants to See His SUPERMAN LIVES Get an Animated Film

We'll never see Tim Burton's true vision of his Superman Lives film project. Fans are just left with a lot of interesting and strange behind-the-scenes footage and photos and a script written by Kevin Smith

It's been over 20 years since the film project was in development, and fans won't let it die. It's one of those film projects that that people want to know more about. During one of Smith's recent Facebook Q&A sessions, he was asked what he would think of seeing his script brought to life in animated form, to which he replied:

"Oh like based on my script, based on the Superman Lives script? That would be tight, dude. I’m not going to lie, that would be fun to see. That’s something I worked on 20 years ago at this point, so that would be really amazing to kind of see, like they turn it into a cartoon and get the people to do the voices. Nic Cage is still around and stuff. And I wanted Michael Rooker for my Lex Luthor, so that would be amazing. Um, but, you know, I’m game. That ain’t up to me, kids. That’s up to the good folks at Warner Bros. and stuff, but if they were ever to call and say hey, we want to do a cartoon version of that Superman script we wrote, believe me I’d be like, that’d be dope, man. You know you close all loops in life, one way or another, and that would be a nice way to close that loop."

I'd actually really love it if Warner Bros. Animation made it happen! With all of the animated DC films they are currently developing, it's hard to believe that they haven't done it! Sure! Bring Nic Cage in to voice Superman, and Michael Rooker as Lex would be pretty badass! I think the fans would be all over this! Maybe now that the idea is out there, someone at the studio will do it.

Watch a Great Scene From Disney's MOANA in Which Dwayne Johnson Sings "You're Welcome"

watch-a-great-scene-from-disneys-moana-in-which-dwayne-johnson-sings-youre-welcome

If you haven't seen Disney's Moana yet, make sure to get to the theater and check it out because it's an incredible animated film! This is a movie that you don't want to miss. It's a great story with great characters, that will make all kinds of feel good emotions bubble up in you. It's definitely one of the best feel-good movies that I've seen this year.

Disney has released one of the most entertaining scenes from the movie in which Maui, played by Dwayne Johnson, sings a fun song called "You're Welcome" shortly after he meets Moana (Auliʻi Cravalho) for the first time.

This is such a great introduction to the character Maui, and I absolutely love the song which was written by Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda. It's got a great catchy tune, and you can totally hear his signature sound. On top of that, Johnson does a solid job singing it. Check it out below!

Joel Schumacher's BATMAN FOREVER Gets a TRON: LEGACY VHS-Style Trailer

I remember being so excited about seeing Batman Forever back in 1995. I couldn't wait to see it! It definitely didn't live up to my expectations. That movie was just way too over-the-top and cheesy for my taste. I hated how the villains were portrayed in it.

YouTube user Sam Ibrahim took the film and cut together his own trailer using the Tron: Legacy soundtrack and giving it a '90s VHS-style feel. The result gives the footage of the film a completely different tone, and I really dig it. This is what the creator had to say about what he was trying to accomplish with it:

"A more of a serious take on Batman Forever using music from Tron Legacy, to match up with glitches and almost 'hacker' nature of The Riddler portrayed by Jim Carrey. This was the first Batman film I saw as a kid, and as cheesy as it is, still one of my favourites. I think Val Kilmer was underrated as Batman. Would love to see him back in the superhero genre one day. This is my tribute to Mr Kilmer."

Tom Holland Joins Daisy Ridley in the Post-Apocalyptic Thriller CHAOS WALKING

Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is in negotiations to join Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley in an upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller called Chaos Walking.

The film is an adaptation of the best-selling young adult novel by Patrick Ness. It seems like every post-apocalyptic movie that gets made these days is based on a YA novel. But there's some solid talent involved with developing this one. It's set to be directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) from a script written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) with the most recent draft being written by Money Monster scribe Jamie Linden.

The story for Chaos Walking takes place in "a world where all women have been killed by a germ and all living creatures can hear one another's thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise."

According to THR, Holland will play "a boy forced to flee his town with his loyal dog and who comes upon a strange sight: a girl," who will be played by Ridley. The two actors are sure to make a great team in the movie. Here's the official synopsis of the book:

Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown. But Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in a constant, overwhelming, never-ending Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets. Or are there? Just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd unexpectedly stumbles upon a spot of complete silence. Which is impossible. Prentisstown has been lying to him. And now he’s going to have to run…

Robert Zemeckis was originally attached to direct the film back in 2013, but now he is only attached as a producer. The film goes into production next year and will most likely be released sometime in 2018.

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Gets a Funny Live-Action Mashup Trailer

Warner Bros. new animated film project The LEGO Batman Movie looks like it's going to be a hilarious blast! It's definitely going to put a unique spin on the Dark Knight and lighten up the character in a comedic light. I really enjoyed what I've seen in the trailers so far, and one of the trailers for the film has been mashed together with live action footage from some of the live-action Batman films that have come before. There are some good moments in the video that are mixed with a few things that don't work, but it's still entertaining, so check it out when you get a chance!

10 CLOVERFIELD LANE Director to Helm a Film Inspired by Legendary Magician Harry Houdini

0
0

Director Dan Trachtenberg did a fantastic job on the J.J. Abrams-produced film 10 Cloverfield Lane. I loved that movie, and now the director is in talks to join a whole new film project based on the legendary magician Harry Houdini.

The film is set up at Lionsgate, and they've been trying to get it into production for years. The project is based on the William Kalush and Larry Sloman’s book The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero.

The book dives into some fun and interesting details about Houdini including that it was believed that he was a British spy, in cahoots with police organizations, and at one point was even asked to be an adviser to Czar Nicholas II's court in pre-revolutionary Russia. These are real theories about the magician, and this movie will obviously elaborate on those stories.

The studio's plan for the film is to make it an action-thriller in which Houdini will be portrayed as part Indiana Jones and part Sherlock Holmes. Over the years several names have been attached to the project including actor Johnny Depp and Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot. The current draft of the script was written by screenwriter Noah Oppenheim. Maybe the studio will actually get it moving forward with Trachtenberg on board. I hope it does! I think he's a solid choice to take on the challenge.

Here's the description of the book the film will be inspired by:

Using exclusive access to newly uncovered archives, Kalush and Sloman reveal the clandestine agreements in which the British and Americans recruited Houdini to be an active secret agent. In exchange for his cooperation, the governments of these two countries facilitated his rise to the top of the world stage. The authors give thrilling accounts of his assignments, such as his participation in early aerial surveillance and his use of his own magic magazine to communicate espionage-related information. After the war, Houdini embarked upon what became his most dangerous mission when he took on the Spiritualist movement. Convinced that Spiritualist mediums were frauds, he became obsessed with exposing them. But the Spiritualists were a powerful adversary. An organized network of fanatics, led by Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle, worked relentlessly to orchestrate a campaign that would silence Houdini forever. Grounded in solid research, but as exciting and dramatic as a good thriller, THE SECRET LIFE OF HOUDINI traces the magician's long and circuitous route from struggling vaudevillian to worldwide legend.

There's been a lot of talk about director Paul Verhoeven's 1997 feature film adaptation of Starship Troopers because Columbia Pictures is currently developing a new film that they hope will launch a franchise of movies. This is something that Verhoeven come down hard on because he doesn't like the idea of seeing the book get a faithful adaptation.

For those of you who are fans of the original film, some rare behind the scenes photos have surfaced for you to check out. They show some of the sets of the film, some of the effects work that was created, and Verhoeven directing his actors. I also included a featurette that focuses on the making of the film. It's some pretty cool stuff!

Kevin Smith Wants to Remake Disney's BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS

kevin-smith-wants-to-remake-disneys-bedknobs-and-broomsticks

I don't know why, but for some reason, Kevin Smith wants to remake Disney's 1971 film Bedknobs and Broomsticks. During a recent episode of his Fatman on Batman podcast, Smith sang the opening lyrics to a song called "Portobello Road," which was written by the Sherman Brothers for the film.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks was a British-American musical fantasy film that combined live-action and animation. The story follows three young individuals, Charlie, Carrie and Paul, who move to a small village during World War II. Their they discover their host, Miss Price, "is an apprentice witch! Although her early attempts at magic create hilarious results, she successfully casts a traveling spell on an ordinary bedknob, and they fly to the fantastic, animated Isle of Naboombu to find a powerful spell that will save England!"

During the podcast, Smith explained that a remake of the film would work great for today and talked about it using his signature colorful language that screams Disney values!

"Bedknobs and Broomsticks can be remade today. That movie can so fucking work today. In a world where Disney's like, 'Pete's Dragon!' and shit like that... Hey! I will fucking suck dick Disney to make the remake of Bedknobs and Broomsticks."

I've only seen Bedknobs and Broomsticks once when I was a kid, and it didn't really connect with me. I'm sure that Smith could do something crazy and interesting with it. If Disney ever did decide to remake Bedknobs and Broomsticks I doubt they would hire Smith to do it. What do you think?

PASSENGERS Sci-Fi Film Gets a New Clip and Music Video for Imagine Dragons' "Levitate"

0
0

I think Sony Picture's new sci-fi film Passengers looks like it's going to be a fantastic film, and today we've got a new clip and music video to share with you. The clip is called "Date Night" and focuses on Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence going on a date together. The music video is for the song Imagine Dragons wrote for the film called "Levitate," and it features some new footage from the film. Both promos mostly highlight the romance aspect of the film's story.

As excited as I am for this movie, I have no idea how it's going to do at the box office. I really hope the movie ends up being good, and if it is, I hope people go see it. The film has got star power and an intriguing story that will be interesting to see play out. It's the story concept that I'm most attracted to.

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers onboard a spaceship transporting them to a new life on another planet. The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As Jim and Aurora try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… only to be threatened by the imminent collapse of the ship and the discovery of the truth behind why they woke up.

Passengers was directed by Morten Tyldum and hits theaters on December 21st.
