FINDING DORY Gets an Honest Trailer

We all knew Finding Dory was just a cheap cash grab by Pixar, but we didn't care. It's just like Monsters University, Toy Story 2, and Toy Story 3 all over again! We don't watch these films because we need closure with the characters...we just want to feel the way they made us feel the first time all over again! Screen Junkies owns up to this in their honest trailer, but that doesn't mean they don't take a few well-deserved jabs along the way! Check out their latest below.

A new Rogue One: A Star Wars featurette was released today that features director Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones and Diego Luna talking about the film's production. We also see more of the sets and bits of new footage. It looks like the cast and crew had a fun time playing in the Star Wars universe, a dream come true for Edwards especially. December 16th can't get here soon enough.

Watch: Animated Pitch for New TERMINATOR Film Is Worth Your Time

It's no secret that the Terminator franchise is in trouble. Minus the ill-fated television series, the films have been on a downward spiral since T2. The series needs something fresh to bring old fans back to the series and entice new ones without using Arnold Schwarzenegger

I'm sharing this animated movie pitch because I think German Bruce Stirling John Knox is on to something here. I'm so tired of films concerned with the timeline! Give me a film that shows Skynet and humans in an all-out war with as much of the budget as possible launched at the effects and not making Arnold look like he's in his late 30s!

Here's hoping this gains some real traction! Thanks to Screen Rant for the tip.

PlayStation Vue Streaming Service Now Available on Apple TV

If you don't already know what PlayStation Vue is, it's Sony's play into the TV streaming market and goes head-to-head with Hulu. As a cord cutter, Vue has been on my radar because of its ability to stream live sports and have channels that Hulu doesn't have like Disney XD. What's interesting is that at higher tiers you can bundle in HBO ($15), Showtime ($11), Epix (previously only available with cable) into some real cost saving if you are already using those services.

Today, PlayStation announced that the Vue is now available as an app on fourth-generation Apple TVs. Sony was slow to bring the service to Apple TV as it's already on PS4, PS3, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and Chromecast.

Press release via MacRumors:

Starting today, PlayStation Vue will be supported on Apple TV (4th generation), leveraging Apple TV's latest hardware to create an innovative experience. You will be able to take advantage of Apple TV's Siri Remote and easy navigation with touch, while enjoying PlayStation Vue's sleek look and feel. PlayStation Vue brings popular programming to Apple TV, from live sports networks like ESPN and NFL Network, to premium channels like AMC, FX, HBO, and Showtime.

I'm going to sign up for the free trial and see if the service is as good as I've heard it is from friends.

We're mere hours away from the release of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, and I couldn't be more excited! Unfortunately, I'm probably going to wait to see it until Thanksgiving weekend with my family...probably. I can pretend I'm seeing it for the first time, right? In either case, I'm sure I'm not going to mind seeing it for a second time!

Here's to the 14th Anniversary of the Episode of FUTURAMA That Made Us All Cry

According to Reddit, today is the 14 year anniversary of the Futurama episode "Jurassic Bark." In it, Fry finds the fossilized remains of his dog Seymour and wishes to clone him, but after learning he lives long after Fry goes missing in the year 2000, decides that it's better off to leave him with the memories they shared. We then cut to one of the saddest scenes in geek culture in which Fry's dog Seymour is seen standing in front of the spot Fry left him for several years waiting until he dies of old age.

I knew not to watch it and I did anyway and now I'm crying sitting next to my dog Cole as I watch this. I think I'm gonna take him on a walk now.

BEFORE I FALL Trailer Is Groundhog Day Meets Butterfly Effect

I think the biggest strength of the film medium is its ability to manipulate time. Before I Fall is a film that loops one day and night over-and-over like Groundhog Day, but seems to have the darker tone and emotional drama of The Butterfly Effect. Directed by Ry Russo-Young and starting Zoey Deutch, Before I Fall centers on the life of a high school girl trapped in a time loop of the last day she was alive. Based on the acclaimed Lauren Oliver novel of the same name, I'm expecting the movie to have some real depth.

Before I Fall loops into theaters March 3rd, 2017 (USA).

First SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Trailer Is Coming in December!

I know fans have been eagerly waiting to see some of the first official footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Fans got a very early glimpse at the film at Comic-Con early this year and those lucky enough to see it loved it! It was one of my favorite things I saw at the event, and you can read all about that footage here.

For the rest of you that haven't seen any footage yet, you'll be happy to know that the first trailer for the movie will drop next month! According to CB, the trailer will be attached to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is set to be released on December 16th. I imagine the trailer will be released online sometime during the week of release.

Even though I've already seen footage from the film, I'm really excited to see what this trailer will offer. I'm sure it will feature some footage that we saw at Comic-Con, but there's no doubt it will show off more footage of Spider-Man in action because there wasn't a lot of completed footage of that at the time of Comic-Con.

After the spectacular debut of Marvel's version of the character in Civil War, the expectations for this solo film have been set really high. I have complete confidence in Marvel, though, and that they will at least meet our expectations.

Jon Watts is directing the film, and it has a strong cast that includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7th, 2017.

If Magic Intrigues You, Watch This Trailer for MAGICIANS: LIFE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE

if-magic-intrigues-you-watch-this-trailer-for-magicians-life-in-the-impossible9

Magic is one of the greatest things ever. I love the art of magic so much. It's something that I've been fascinated with ever since I was a kid. I got my first book on magic when I was around 10 years old to try and learn a bunch of cool magic tricks. I love watching magicians perform, and one of my favorite places to visit in the whole wide world is The Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA.

I could go on and on about how much magic means to me, but there's a trailer you've got a watch! It's for a documentary called Magicians: Life in the Impossible, and it shows us what it's like to be a professional magician. I have the utmost respect for these individuals and their art. It's not an easy life for many of them, but they continue to do it because they are dedicated to the craft.

Equal parts awe-inspiring and heartbreaking, MAGICIANS captures the world of professional magic and the challenges that come with seeking illusory fame in a business where being sawed in half is the norm. The film follows four magicians on and off stage, exploring why they so passionately dedicate their lives to the craft of illusion. From the most humbling of road gigs to the grandest performances, from finding love to terrible personal loss, their journeys reflect the elation and struggle of persevering with a passion no matter what gets in the way.

The film is currently available to buy/rent on VOD via iTunes and AppleTV, so watch the trailer and then watch the film!

Hulk and Black Widow Form an Unlikely Relationship in BEAUTY AND THE HULK Mashup Trailer

The recent Beauty and the Beast trailer has been fantastically mashed together with footage from several Marvel Studios films. They've been recut together to tell a story of how Black Widow and The Hulk form an unlikely relationship with each other. The video was created by Darth Blender, it's well made, and it turned out to be pretty cool.

An incredible green beast called The Hulk keeps a prisoner inside his castle. That's when the beautiful Natasha Romanoff offers herself instead to free her father. What she didn't imagine is that the beast were in fact a charming and sweet creature she would fall in love with.

THE CROW Remake Is No Longer Happening at Relativity, But It's Still Moving Forward

This remake of The Crow that Relativity has been trying to get off the ground for years has gone through so many issues, but it seems like the film project just won't die.

The last we heard was that the movie would start shooting in January 2017 with Jason Momoa in the lead role and Corin Hardy (The Hallow) directing. The production has hit another speed bump, though. According to THR, the rights to The Crow have left Relativity and are now with Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group, and Electric Shadow. They will finance, produce, and distribute the film.

The movie is called Crow Reborn, and Relativity developed the film, which is said to be a more faithful adaptation of the original graphic novel that was created by James O’Barr. There's no word on whether Momoa or Hardy are still involved with the project at this point, but they do want to start shooting the film next year.

At this point, I just don't care. The production for this project has gone through so much crap I just don't think there's a chance for it to be a great film. I think we'll end up getting a mediocre straight to VOD kind of movie in the end.

EMBERS & DUST Is an Intoxicating Short Set Around the Events of Orson Welles' 1938 WAR OF THE WORLDS Broadcast

"Embers & Dust" is a must-watch short film that is brilliantly stunning! The story is set around the events of Orson Welles' legendary 1938 broadcast of War of the Worlds. As you know, the dramatized broadcast set listeners into a panic because they thought it was real. This short plays on that idea as a young boy whose imagination runs wild with thoughts of aliens living on other planets ventures out into the woods on the night of the broadcast looking for answers to his question.

On the evening of October 30th, 1938 Orson Welles’ voice travelled far across the radio waves, bringing word of an invading alien army from Mars. The theatricality and delivery of the performance, along with recent memories of the Hindenburg disaster (one year prior), sent many listeners into a panic. Unfortunate coincidence would fall upon the town of Concrete Washington where, at the height of the invading alien attack, a power transformer blew out sending the entire town and surrounding areas into darkness.

The short was written and directed by Patrick Biesemans, and it's a beautifully crafted love letter to imagination, creativity, and Orson Welles. I absolutely loved the story and the atmosphere that it was set in. It's a spectacular piece of storytelling that will leave you with chills.

Trailer for the WWII Thriller THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE with Jessica Chastain and Daniel Brühl

The first trailer has been released for the upcoming World War II thriller The Zookeeper's Wife. It looks like an incredibly well-made film that tells a powerful story of survival during one of the darkest times the world has seen. I love it when stories like this are told through movies. They are stories that may have never been known to some people had a movie not been made.

This particular film is based on the true story of Antonina Zabinska (Jessica Chastain) and Dr. Jan Zabinski (Johan Heldenbergh), a husband and wife who run a zoo in Warsaw. As the synopsis states, Antonina "became a hero to hundreds during World War II." It takes place in the year 1939 in Poland, Antonina and her husband "have the Warsaw Zoo flourishing under his stewardship and her care. When their country is invaded by the Nazis, Jan and Antonina are stunned – and forced to report to the Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (Daniel Brühl of Captain America: Civil War). To fight back on their own terms, Antonina and Jan covertly begin working with the Resistance – and put into action plans to save lives out of what has become the Warsaw Ghetto, with Antonina putting herself and even her children at great risk."

As you can imagine, this is a very intense story, and it looks like all of the actors will shine in their performances. The Zookeeper’s Wife is in theaters March 31, 2017.

The STARGATE Movie Reboot Is Dead Because Producer Dean Devlin Thinks They'll "Screw It Up"

$

Director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin have been planning a new Stargate reboot for years. The project was said to be a trilogy that allowed them to finish the story that they started with the original film. I was actually kind of interested to see what they would do with it, but the project is no longer happening.

During an interview with Empire, Devlin explained that the reason why they aren't doing it anymore is because he's scared they are going to screw it up. He said:

“It looked good for a couple of months, but now it’s not looking so good. There are just a lot of things that have to fire at the same time, and there was a moment where I thought it was all firing at the same time, and then it all kind of fell apart.
“It’s one of the reasons I prefer to work independently. Listen, I think if we did Stargate right, the fans would like it and we could do something really good. But if we screw it up, they’ll reject it. As they should. But I kind of don’t want to do it if I think that we’ll screw it up, and that’s one of the things that’s holding us back.”

Remember, this is the same team that made Independence: Resurgence, and they really screwed up on that one. I can see why Devlin has a complete lack of confidence in Stargate after that movie! The producer also talked about one of the other big differences with the reboot:

“You’d have several studios involved and a lot of voices and, you know, you may make something great, but you also may have something that doesn't resemble what you wanted to do. That kind of ‘collaboration’ is a terrifying aspect of the whole thing.”

The reason this is such a big deal is because the first time around with the original film, they made it independently without the backing of another studio, so having multiple people involved saying how the reboot should be shaped could be frustrating.

Stargate was being written by Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods, who wrote the script for Independence Day: Resurgence. There are no details on what the plot would have been, but they were going to start the story all over again.

Nissan has unveiled their limited edition car inspired by Lucasfilm's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. They revealed the Nissan Rogue at an L.A. Car Show presentation, and you can watch it below. As you'll see, they make the big reveal pretty exciting! I also included a commercial that shows the SUV getting battle tested in a simulated battlefield from Rogue One. If you're interested, here are the details:

Based on the extensively redesigned 2017 Nissan Rogue compact SUV, just 5,400 copies of the Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition will be produced – 5,000 for customers in the United States and 400 for Canada. In addition to the wide range of custom features and equipment, each vehicle also comes with an exclusive numbered, full-size replica collectible Death Trooper helmet.
Based on the 2017 Rogue SV grade level with Sun and Sound Touring Package (Panoramic Moonroof and Bose® audio) and offered in front-wheel and all-wheel drive, it features signature LED headlights, black grille and lower finisher, black rear door finisher, black roof rails and door handles, D-pillar "Rebel Alliance" and "Galactic Empire" logo decals, "Star Wars" logo clear rear bumper protector and Rogue One logo badging on the front doors.
Inside, special features include logo carpeted floor mats, "Star Wars" logo illuminated kickplates, "Rebel Alliance" and "Galactic Empire" logos in cupholder inserts and interior accent lighting. It is offered in just two colors – Magnetic Black and Glacier White – and one interior color, charcoal.

I guess if you need a new car and you're a hardcore Star Wars fan, this might be something worth considering.

James Gunn Offers Fan $100K GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Easter Egg Guarantee

$

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has said several times that there are still Easter eggs in the first Guardians film that have still not been discovered by fans. There's not just one big one that people are missing, but there are apparently several little things that fans still have yet to point out. The director has said:

"There's definitely one really big thing that people haven't seen, but they may never see it -- we'll see. There's other things, too,"

That Easter egg still has yet to be discovered and when a fan asked him about it during a Facebook Q&A, Gunn gave him the ultimate guarantee that it's there. The fan asked:

"Do you plan on revealing the big easter egg from Guardians?"

Gunn said that he didn't plan on revealing it and another fan chimed in and said:

"He won't reveal it because it doesn't exist. The ultimate troll."

Gunn then addressed the guy and made him the following offer:

"Tanin Moores If there is no Easter egg I will give you a hundred thousand dollars - copy this post - I will consider it a legally binding contract - signed, James Gunn"

That's pretty awesome. The thing is... what if no one ever finds it?! I've watched Guardians of the Galaxy a ridiculous number of times as I'm sure many other fans have, but we have no idea what we are looking for! If someone does discover it, Gunn will have verify that it's one of these Easter eggs. At this point, I just wish he'd point all the undiscovered Easter eggs out!

That fact that there are several Easter eggs that haven't been discovered yet means fans will keep hunting. You know what Gunn should do? He should offer a reward to the fan that actually discovers the big one!

First Look at ASURA, China's First $100M Budget Film

$
0
0

With large Hollywood studio films making hundreds of millions of dollars in China alone it seems insane that the highest budget Chinese film made until recently was Stephen Chow's The Mermaid for $60 million. The Mermaid has made $553 worldwide so far. The average budget for a tentpole Chinese films is around $50 million.

Asura is an fantasy film loosely based on a Buddhist mythological realm of "pure desire" that becomes threatened by a lower heavenly kingdom, cue epic battles and a $100 million budget.

To mitigate the risk of the film's epic production budget China is tapping Oscar-winning winning talent and Hollywood veterans. Peng Zhang is directing and has 20 years of experience as a stunt coordinator on films like Ant-Man, Kingsman, 47 Ronin, Kick-Ass, and The Chronicles of Riddick. Ngila Dickson is costume designer and won an Oscar for her work on The Lord of The Rings. Charlie Iturriaga is visual effects supervisor and has worked on TRON: Legacy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Deadpool.

As you can see from the photos, this looks like a movie with huge scope and amazing production quality. If all goes well Asura will be the first in a trilogy. Asura is expected to be released sometime in the summer of 2018.
