New Trailer For OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY Kicks Up The Holiday Antics

$

Now that Halloween is over, I'm starting to see Christmas decorations pop up at malls and grocery stores, and it's just about time to start getting in that holiday season frame of mind. Paramount Pictures is on board with that mentality, because they're releasing a new movie called Office Christmas Party in December, and they've dropped a new trailer and some character posters for us to check out. But this isn't a standard family-friendly Christmas adventure: this movie promises hard-partying insanity with some of the funniest comedic actors working today.

Office Christmas Party opens on December 9, 2016.

In OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY, when the CEO (Jennifer Aniston) tries to close her hard-partying brother’s branch, he (T.J. Miller) and his Chief Technical Officer (Jason Bateman) must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs. The latest comedy from directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck (BLADES OF GLORY) co-stars Kate McKinnon, Olivia Munn, Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Vanessa Bayer, Randall Park, Sam Richardson, Jamie Chung, and Courtney B. Vance in the funniest movie of the holiday season.

Yes, This is Really Gary Oldman in Character as Winston Churchill

A couple of months ago, I wrote about how Gary Oldman had been cast as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in a new movie called Darkest Hour for director Joe Wright (Black Mirror, Atonement). To be completely frank, it's not really a project I'm stoked about in the same way I am about other upcoming movies, but Oldman is always a terrific actor and 100% worth watching in anything he's in.

So I normally wouldn't really be too interested in sharing a simple photo with you guys from a movie like this, but man, this image of Oldman in costume sort of blew my mind. He's completely unrecognizable! People throw that term around sometimes when you can still see hints of the actor underneath makeup or whatever, but with this one, I legitimately think if you put Oldman in a costume in a lineup with a bunch of other chubby white dudes, I wouldn't have any clue that one of them is one of our greatest actors in full makeup.

Within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

Darkest Hour hits theaters on November 24, 2017.

It's Great to Be Batman in Hilarious New THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Trailer

I wasn't sure I was going to see The LEGO Batman Movie in theaters until I saw this trailer! While some of the past trailers for the movie have been worthy of a slight chuckle, I laughed out loud at some points in this trailer! Will Arnett was a great Batman in The Lego Movie, and it looks like he's gonna top that performance in this one!

It's kind of weird to look at Batman in a humorous light, and I was wondering how they were gonna make it happen, but it looks like they've succeeded! The Lego Batman Movie hits theaters this February!

Disney's New BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Film Has Changed Belle's Backstory

We recently got our first good look at Belle (Emma Watson), Beast (Dan Stevens), and Gaston (Luke Evens) in a set of photos that were released from Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. It looks like director Bill Condon is remaining very faithful to the classic animated film, but there is something in the story that he changed. He and the creative team gave Belle a new backstory.

In a recent interview with EW, Watson explained that they made Belle more than just a bookworm. They also made her an inventor, which is what her father was in the original animated film. She said:

"In the animated movie, it’s her father who is the inventor, and we actually co-opted that for Belle. I was like, ‘Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn’t fit in, other than she liked books. Also what is she doing with her time?’ So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead. So, yeah, we made Belle an inventor."

It's really not a big dramatic change. Just a little touch of something to make her character more interesting. Kevin Kline is playing Belle's father, Maurice, in the film. It's explained that he's been over protective of Belle since Belle's mother passed away. It's also revealed that Maurice makes music boxes. The film’s set decorator, Katie Spencer, offered additional details:

“Kevin Kline as Maurice, is making all these music boxes that have to tell the story of Belle not traveling. She’s overprotected in a way, by her father, because she’s lost her mother. So, we’ve made all these music boxes that represent different countries of the world, so she can see what she’s missing.”

I imagine we'll see a full trailer for the film sometime soon, and I'm looking forward to seeing footage from this movie. Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters on March 17th, 2017. To catch up on all of our previously released news, click here.

Marvel Is Still Planning on Making Their INHUMANS Movie, Possibly for Phase 4

After Marvel officially announced that there would be an Inhumans movie, they ended up canceling it and completely pulling it from their release schedule. The movie was supposed to be released in 2019, but there's been a lot of talk and speculation that Marvel Studios won't be making the movie because of the direction Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going.

For those of you who have been thinking that Marvel has completely ditched any plans to make the movie, you'll be happy to hear that it's eventually going to happen. We just don't know exactly when that will be. /Film recently caught up with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and asked him about the status of the movie. This is what he had to say:

"I think Inhumans will happen for sure. I don’t know when. I think it’s happening on television. And I think as we get into Phase 4 as I’ve always said, it could happen as a movie. I think it would be super cool."

We all know it would be cool! We'll just have to wait a little longer than we expected to see it brought to life. Marvel's phase 3 of films are set to conclude with a fourth Avengers film that has yet to be given a title. That film will be released on May 3rd, 2019. After that, we really have no idea what to expect from Marvel in phase 4 besides the fact that Inhumans could be a part of it.

Vin Diesel was expected to star in the film as Black Bolt, and there was a chance that Adam McKay could direct it. I have no idea if these people will still be involved with the project when Marvel finally gets around to making it, but I hope they are. Mr. Sunday Movies is the GOAT when it comes to breaking down trailers of films you want to see. That's kind of hilarious considering his logo is a goat in a Han Solo costume. I'm getting off topic here. Even if you THINK you saw everything there was to see in the new trailer for Wonder Woman, you didn't.

Don't try to combat it, just watch Mr. Sunday Movies work his magic and reveal things you would've never thought to look for.

I've got a fun trailer here for you to watch for a film called Renegades. It's a heist action thriller inspired by a true story that follows a team of Navy SEALs in 1995 as they attempt to solve a long-forgotten mystery while uncovering an immense treasure of Nazi gold at a bottom of a lake in war-torn Serbia. The trailer is packed full of action, and as you'll see, some of it is completely over-the-top, which is what makes the film look entertaining.

The film was directed by Steven Quale (Final Destination 5Into the Storm ) from a script co-written by filmmaker Luc Besson and writer Richard Wenk (The Mechanic, The Equalizer, The Magnificent Seven). The cast includes J.K. SimmonsSullivan StapletonEwen BremnerSylvia HoeksDiarmaid MurtaghCharlie BewleyClemens Schick, and Dimitri Leonidas

What If DC Let Marvel Help Develop Their Movies

what-if-dc-let-marvel-help-develop-their-movies

I understand that there’s a huge fanbase for the comic book-inspired films that DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are making. Hell, I'm one of them. Director Christopher Nolan set the bar very high for how DC film should be made with his Dark Knight trilogy, but the studio has yet to make another film that has the same level of quality in terms of storytelling and filmmaking. Don’t get me wrong, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Suicide Squad have all been fun films with some cool looking moments, but let’s be honest… they could have been so much better.

These films not only haven’t lived up to the standards of Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, but they are nowhere near as good as Marvel. Marvel has set a plan in motion that has been perfectly executed. Their formula for success works. Every film they have made, including the ones that would be considered the "worst" of them, is still better than the last three DC films.

As fans who grew up with these DC characters, we all want to see amazing films that will blow us away! We shouldn’t have to take what we can get, which is what’s been happening. Some people blame Zack Snyder and other people blame the studio executives for the lackluster elements of the films they’ve made.

I’m not here to bash the films that DC has made, I was just thinking about how cool it would be if the guys at Marvel Studios teamed up with the guys at DC Entertainment to help them develop their characters for the big screen. I know the guys at Marvel are huge fans of the DC superheroes, and I can’t help but think that they would want see DC make some amazing movies for the characters they love, at least at the same caliber that they are.

Is it beyond the realm of possibility to think that DC and Marvel could work together in some way to ensure that the films coming out of DC Entertainment are the best superhero films that they can be? Think about it… if Marvel made a Superman film would it be better or worse than Man of Steel? There’s no doubt in my mind that they would have delivered a better film! They would have done Superman the way fans would want to see a Superman movie because they know what it takes to please fans when handling iconic characters.

Marvel just has the right talent involved with making the creative decisions on their films, and they have a crystal clear vision of where they are headed. DC seems to have been all over the place, and it seems like they are still unsure about what they are doing with their films. A Marvel team could probably help get everything on track.

Look, I know something like this will probably never happen, but if DC ever thought of asking for some help I’d like to think that Marvel would oblige. I truly want to see DC make the kinds of films that the fans could be proud of just like we were with Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and the films that Marvel is making.

I just think DC Entertainment could use the right guidance and since Marvel has been more successful with their films than DC, I think they are a well of information on how to make great comic book movies. I think the fans would think it would be awesome to see Marvel work with DC on their films. But maybe I’m wrong. What do you think?

A Live-Action VOLTRON Film Is Currently in Development at Universal Pictures

When Universal Pictures teamed up with DreamWorks Animation, they ended up with the rights to a live-action version of the classic 1980s cartoon series Voltron. The film was quietly being developed by Jeffery Katzenberg. Now Universal is pushing it forward, and they've hired David Hayter to write the script. Hayter has worked on films such as X-Men, X-Men 2, and Watchmen. As you can see, the guy has a solid track record, and he seems like a fantastic choice to take on the writing duties of Voltron.

This film has been a long time coming, and it's a project that I've been very excited about. I'm a huge Voltron fan! Like many of you, I grew up on the original cartoon series, and now there's an incredibly awesome new animated series on Netflix that you should all be watching!

It's not hard to imagine what a live-action Voltron film would look like, and in my mind it looks like one of the most epic adaptations of an '80s cartoon series that has ever been made. The visuals in my brain are insane! There's so much awesome potential here, and I hope that Universal ends up hiring a great visionary director to take on the challenge. I'd personally love to see Moon and Warcraft director Duncan Jones take it on. He already has a solid relationship with Universal, and he knows how to tell a great visual story. Who do you think would be a good choice to direct Voltron?

Dave Chappelle Is Set to Host SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE for the First Time

Dave Chappelle is one hell of a hilarious comedian. I've been a fan of his for years, and I'm happy to report that will be hosting Saturday Night Live. It's about damn time! He is set to make his SNL hosting debut on the post-presidential election show on November 12th.

Chappelle is best known for his amazing Comedy Central series Chappelle's Show, and he also does some incredible stand-up as well. Unfortunately, ever since he surprisingly left Chappelle's Show, he rarely makes any kind of TV or public appearances. So the fact that he's jumping on board SNL is a huge deal.

On top of that, the musical guest will be A Tribe Called Quest, who will be releasing their first album in 18 years. So many great things are coming in this upcoming SNL episode, and it looks like it's one that's not to be missed.

Writer of SANDMAN Film Exits, Thinks It Needs to Be a Television Series

$

Eric Heisserer has officially exited the film based on Neil Gaiman's Sandman. Heisserer told io9 it's because he doesn't think the story can be told in the film...

"I had many conversations with Neil [Gaiman] on this, and I did a lot of work on the feature and came to the conclusion that the best version of this property exists as an HBO series or limited series, not as a feature film, not even as a trilogy. The structure of the feature film really doesn’t mesh with this. So I went back and said here’s the work that I’ve done. This isn’t where it should be. It needs to go to TV. So I talked myself out of a job!"

Heisserer also clarified news of Joseph Gordon-Levitt publicly departing the project the day after he joined the film in March, saying he had already "quietly" exited the film nearly seven months prior. While Gordon-Levitt has never publicly stated anything about the state of the film, Heisserer says that he knows Gordon-Levitt felt the same way about the film as he did.

I'm going to wager that many, if not all of us reading this feel the same way. With television the way it is now, there's no sense in blowing a Hollywood budget to tell 1/3rd of the story. No one will be happy with that product. Develop it for Netflix or HBO and let it have the telling it deserves! I'm sure whatever money is lost from box office success will be made up over and over in merchandising, TV rights, and telling the story RIGHT.

Video Parodies Potential Stan Lee Action Movie in Goofy Short

The fact that Stan Lee is getting a movie is fine. Stan Lee should get a movie considering the impact he has had on geek culture for the past 50ish years. Should he get an action film? Absolutely not. If you don't think that is a ridiculous idea, then watch this concept trailer done by Patrick (H) Willems. It's goofy, weird, cringey, and all the evidence you need that trying to make Stan Lee anyone other than who he was is just ridiculous!

Stranger Things season two is coming next year, and it's starting production! The official Twitter page for the series released a photo featuring the young cast gathered together for what looks like a script reading. The photo is presented upside down and comes with the following note:

"Back in Production see you next year #strangerthings"

The photo features all of the young characters in the series and from left to right we have newcomer Sadie Sink (Max), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Millie Bobbie Brown (Eleven), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Joe Keery (Steve), and another newcomer Dacre Montgomery (Billy).

It's fun to see all of these actors back together again and I'm excited to see where this next supernatural adventure takes them. Below you'll find the same photo of them right side up.

I'm sure the adult actors are there as well. They're probably just sitting at another table. Stranger Things season two is set to premiere on Netflix in 2017. To catch up on all of our Stranger Things news, click here.

THE SIMPSONS Gets Renewed for Seasons 29 and 30!

The ratings for The Simpsons are still as strong as ever, and Fox is still looking to ride its wave of success. The network has just renewed it for seasons 29 and 30, making it one of the longest-running series of all time.

This renewal will take its episode count to 669, which breaks the record set by Gunsmoke of 635 episodes. I seriously can't believe that The Simpsons is still on the air! I grew up on the show! It practically raised me.

The voice cast for the series has also been locked down, and that includes Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, and Harry ShearerDana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs, Fox Television Group said in a joint statement:

“This is yet another record-setting moment for what is truly a landmark series. The Simpsons has meant so much to the network, the studio and everyone at Fox, and its continued cultural impact around the globe is a testament to the combined brilliance of Matt, Jim and Al. Congratulations to everyone who works on this groundbreaking series – from the voice cast and producers to the writers and production team – you comprise one of the greatest collections of creative talent in the history of the medium. And to the millions of Simpsons fans around the world, thank you for watching all these years. We’re happy to tell you there’s lots more to come.”

I wonder how long this series will go until Fox does decide to cancel. If the ratings continue to stay strong it could keep going on for years to come. Congratulations to The Simpsons' creative team for continuing to make an incredibly entertaining show!

Today's short film is called "The Drawing." It's a horror film that follows a young woman who "discovers a mysterious crayon drawing while out for a jog. It was probably nothing, right?"

The short was directed by Micah Roland for 1A Plate Productions, and according to Bloody Disgusting, it's is partially based on a true story. Like, maybe the part where someone finds a crayon drawing in the street?

The film has a very heavy '80s synth overtone, and it turned out to be a fun flick worth checking out, so give it a go!
