There's a Four Hour Cut of Mel Gibson's BRAVEHEART and I Need to See It!

0
0

Mel Gibson's Braveheart is one of my favorite films of all time. I saw that movie about 15 times while it was in theaters back in 1995. I just couldn't get enough of it! It's one of those films that I can watch over and over again, and I never get tired of it. It's just such an epically badass film that tells a beautiful story.

The theatrical cut of the film is three hours long, and I just learned from an interview with Gibson at Collider that there is an hour of never-before-seen footage and a 3 hour 45 minute cut of the film that's laying around somewhere.

Gibson was asked if anyone ever approached him about releasing a special edition director's cut with all of these extra scenes and if he would consider it. He told the site, “People have mentioned it. It’s a big deal.”

He proceeded to say that he'd be willing to do it if the studio wanted to pay for it. The movie was produced by Paramount Pictures, and this is something that they really need to jump on doing ASAP! I need to see this extended cut of the film! I want to see all the additional footage! Someone bring all of this to light and make it available!

Boy Battling Brain Cancer Gets an Awesome TIE Fighter Wheelchair for Halloween

Here's a little Halloween story that will warm your heart. The talented folks over at Magic Wheelchair made an incredibly cool TIE Fighter wheelchair costume for Daniel Shaughnessy. Daniel is an 8-year-old boy who is battling brain and spinal cancer, and they just wanted to make this Halloween ultra special for him.

The non-profit organization spent around 200 hours designing and building the Star Wars vehicle. Daniel’s mother Jessica Thomas was overwhelmed with emotion with the gift and she said:

"There were definite tears! Definite tears… And being able to see the look on his face when they took the cover off, and he got to see it, was amazing. The things that they do and just out of the goodness of their hearts that they do these things is so amazing."

It's awesome that there are organizations like Magic Wheelchair out there making the world a better place.

The Story for STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE Won't Unfold How You Think It Will

0
0

There's still so much that we don't know about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but it sure does look like it's going to be an incredible film! What we do know is that a young woman named Jyn (Felicity Jones) is recruited by the Rebel Alliance to help plan and execute a heist to retrieve the plans for the Empire’s Death Star, which is under construction in this film. She helps gather together a team badasses to help complete the mission.

We all got a taste of what's in store for us with the last trailer that was released, which completely blew me away. A lot of fans have speculated and talked about how the story will play out, but according to director Gareth Edwards, the story isn't going to unfold how you think. During an interview with USA Today he explained:

“Events take place that just shatter her life and send her off to basically be raised as a soldier in the midst of a war. She ends up not the person she was supposed to be. Even though we’re not telling the story of Luke Skywalker, it was important to me that we capture the same themes and emotion. But the film doesn’t unfold how you think. It’s not the same path as Star Wars.”

We've got the basic gist of the plot but it sounds like the way the plot unfolds will take audiences on a wild ride full of fun surprising twists and turns. There are obviously a lot more layers to the story that we aren't seeing in the trailers, which is great! I love a good Star Wars movie surprise! In a separate interview with EW, the director discussed the film's ending:

“The thing every [filmmaker] typically struggles with is ‘How does it end?’ But we knew how our film was going to end. Our problem became ‘How do we reverse engineer from that and know where to start?’ You’ve got a finite number of options and you go through them all like a puzzle to find the one that’s going to lead to the strongest result.”

One of the most important of that pieces is obviously Darth Vader, and it's so freakin' cool that we'll get to see him in action again! Rogue One hits theaters on December 16th, and just like the rest of you... I can't wait!

NIGHT OF THE SLASHER Short Follows a Teenage Girl Commiting Horror Movie Sins to Lure a Killer

0
0

Today's short film is a horror thriller called "Night of the Slasher." The story follows a teenage girl who realizes "she must commit horror movie sins such as drink alcohol, do drugs, and have sex to lure a killer and finish him off."

The film was written and directed by Shant Hamassian, and it's a really fun concept that is both dark and humorous. I love that the killer is wearing a Leonard Nimoy Spock mask because, as most of you already know, Michael Meyers wore a William Shatner Captain Kirk mask in Halloween

There's also a great fight scene, and one of the things that makes this film so cool and enjoyable is the fact that it was all shot in a single take! Watch it for yourself and let us know what you think!

Robert Downey Jr.’s SHERLOCK HOLMES 3 Got Itself a Team of Talented Writers

0
0

Robert Downey Jr. and Warner Bros. are looking to get things rolling on Sherlock Holmes 3, and they’ve hired a team of writers to help shape the story and script. According to Variety, the writers room that has been set up for the film includes Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Gary Whitta (Rogue One), Geneva Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider), and Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden).

It’s interesting that they set up a writers room like this for one movie. Most writers rooms are for big franchises that will have multiple films. For example, Paramount Pictures set up a writers room for Transformers and Universal Pictures set one for their upcoming slate of monster movies. According to the report:

This is a rare case in which a room is being set up for just one film. However one source said that in this case it makes sense to gather a good group, rather than have several writers rewrite or polish, which happens to films often in the development process.

Jude Law is set to reprise his role as Watson and the director of the first two films, Guy Ritchie, is expected to return to helm the third movie.

This is a pretty talented group of people they’ve hired to write the film, and as a fan of this action-adventure franchise, I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with. I loved the first film, and I thought the sequel was even better. Can we expect the third to up the ante? I hope so!

JOHN WICK Co-Director David Leitch Might End Up Directing DEADPOOL 2

Since director Tim Miller dropped out of the Deadpool sequel, fans have been wondering who Fox would bring in to take the reins. Some interesting information was released recently that offered some insight into what caused the rift between Miller and Reynolds, and they just had completely different visions of where the sequel should go. Reynolds' vision ended up winning, which I thought was the right move because according to the report it stayed true to the vision they started out with. We now know who could be the director to bring that vision to the big screen!

According to Mashable, John Wick co-director David Leitch is a “strong frontrunner” for the Deadpool 2 directing job. This is a choice that I doubt any fan will have a problem with! John Wick was a beautifully directed badass action film. Chad Stahleski was the other director on the film, and together they own and operate a fight choreography and stuntman studio named 87Eleven Action Design.

The report goes on to say that there are several other directors up for the gig, but Leitch is their first choice. No official offer has been made yet, "but by most accounts, 20th Century Fox has found its man."

This also wouldn't be the first time that Leitch and Reynolds worked together. Leitch happened to be the action coordinator on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which introduced Reynolds as Wade Wilson. Leitch also worked on a few other Fox film projects as a stuntman. Some of those films include Blade, Daredevil and Fight Club.

Leitch would be a solid director for Deadpool 2. There's no doubt we'd see even more insane action and fight sequences in the sequel. What do you think about the possibility of Leitch taking on the film?

Fan-Made LOGAN Trailer Takes Us Through Wolverine's Journey in the X-MEN Saga

As you know, Logan is the last film in which we will get to see Hugh Jackman in the iconic role of Wolverine. It's been quite a fun ride seeing the character's evolution over the years, and it looks like Logan will be a masterpiece conclusion for the character.

While we wait to see more of the film, I've got an awesome fan-made trailer for you to check out that was created by YouTube user afauclair. It's called "X-Men Saga Recut," and it takes us through Wolverine's journey in the X-Men franchise by cutting in footage from all of the previous films. I think it turned out pretty cool! Check it out!

Director Doug Liman Discusses JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK and Turning the Comic Book Genre on Its Head

0
0

When I first learned that Doug Liman was hired to direct Warner Bros. Dark Universe, a.k.a. Justice League Dark, I thought he was a solid choice. I had really hoped that Guillermo del Toro's version of the film would happen, but I think Liman will give fans something fun and exciting. This is the guy who brought us films such as Edge of TomorrowSwingers, Go, The Bourne Identity, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

For the first time since the director was brought on to work on the film, he talked about it in an interview with IGN. He explained that he's the guy the studio wants because he is the one who will turn the comic book genre on its head. When asked if he was excited to be working on the project he said:

"Yeah, I mean first of all, I love those characters, and I love Warner Bros., and I love [producer] Scott Rudin, and it’s -- and you know, I get asked to come in and do things that are 'unconventional.' If people want conventional, they don’t come to me. It’s why doing Invisible was like right up my alley -- because how can you be conventional when there aren’t even conventions that exist? And so you know when Warner Bros. wants to sort of turn the comic book genre on its head, they call me."

When asked if that was the goal for Dark Universe, the director explained what the studios expect from him with the films he makes:

"Yeah. It’s like how do you fundamentally reinvent what people are doing? And that’s the good and the bad news of this sort of box I’ve been put in. I mean, you’d think it was by design, but it wasn’t. It is exactly what I should be doing, but I’m just so grateful that -- you know sometimes I’m working on a project and I pitch an idea that’s too conventional, and the producers will say back to me 'That’s not Doug Liman enough.' Which is like a weird thing, because I’m like 'Well that -- it was my idea! How can you say it’s not me?' And they’re like 'No, because when we think of you, we think of like, you know -- that just seems too ordinary.'
"So even if I wanted to be a little bit more conventional, like, the system doesn’t want me to be. But since I do treat every project as a form of a film school, 'OK I haven’t done that genre and how am I going to do it and how am I going to do it in a way that no one’s done it before,' so that’s, you know, I haven’t done a comic book film, and that’s -- am I going to do it in a new way that’s unlike what anyone else has ever done, and come up with a couple of rules for myself of what we’re not going to do that other people do."

Liman has always had a fun and unique style to his storytelling. I really like what he's done with most of his films, especially Edge of Tomorrow. That movie was so freakin' good! I'm sure he'll end up doing some great things with Dark Universe, and I'm looking forward to seeing what that will be. But will he really be able to turn the comic book genre on its head? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Photos From ALIEN: COVENANT Surface Featuring Xenomorphs, Facehuggers, and More

There's been a lot of talk and information regarding the kind of Xenomorph aliens that we'll see in Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien: Covenant. Most recently, we learned that the aliens will be referred to as "Neomorphs," and if you want to read more information on them and how they are born, click here.

Scott also previously revealed that we will see every version of the Xenomorph in the upcoming film. He explained, “We’ll have them all. Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.” Now thanks to SoIsItAnyGood, we have our first look at some of these aliens!

Below you'll find a look at some eggs, a facehugger, some kind of possible chestbuster, and a crazy-looking creature that could be the neomorph, which looks like a deformed version of the classic alien. There's one other image and it looks like a Space Jockey type chamber, but I'm not really sure. The movie is set ten years after the events of Prometheus, and this is the synopsis:

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Alien: Covenant opens in theaters on October 6, 2017.

Fun Fan Art Reimagines Cars as Iconic Horror Movie Characters For Halloween

0

I've got a great series of fan art here for you to check out that wonderfully reimagines cars as iconic horror movie characters. They include a Xenomorph as a Tesla Model X; Freddy Krueger as an Ariel Nomad; Ghostface as an Alfa Romeo 4C; Frankenstein as a Mercedes-AMG G63; Jason Voorhees as an Abarth 595; The Grady Twins as Smart cars; Dracula as a Mazda MX-5; Hannibal Lector as a Jeep Wrangler; Leatherface as a Dodge RAM 1500; and Pinhead as a Citroen C4 Cactus. The art series comes from CarWow, and it came with the following note:

Great horror movies are defined by the terrifying monsters they feature. Even the scariest characters still need to get to the shops for a pint of blood or a copy of The Guardian, however. With Halloween upon us, we wondered what cars would the most famous horror movie villains drive? Would they favour practicality over striking fear into the hearts of their prey? Or would they just flat-out prefer flattening their foe?

Each piece also comes with a breakdown of why each car was chosen to represent the characters. You can read through all of those here if you want.

HBO Boss Addresses WESTWORLD Fan Theories and Why He Hasn't Renewed The Show For Season 2 Yet

0
0

Westworld has become the next big prestige show that everyone's talking about, which is great news for Casey Bloys. He's the new head of programming at HBO, and the network desperately needed a big hit with Game of Thrones coming to a close and a few high-profile but lackluster efforts not panning out (here's lookin' at you, Vinyl).

In a new interview with Variety, Bloys spoke about why he hasn't officially renewed the show for a second season yet:

"I want to get a very complete picture of the ratings, which seem to be doing very well, so we’re happy with that. [The executive producers are] going to talk to us about what they envision a second season being. But right now I would say it’s looking really good. We’re very pleased with how it’s doing."

Seems a little odd to me that the show hasn't been renewed yet, especially since the production specifically took a well-publicized break so they could map out five seasons of the plot. But I guess they Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and J.J. Abrams still have to officially pitch season 2 to Bloys, so let's hope that goes well.

Elsewhere in the interview, Bloys addressed some of the fan theories that have been floating around online about the show. I'm sure you've heard of most of them by now: the prominent ones involve William (Jimmi Simpson) and The Man in Black (Ed Harris) being the same person only 30 years apart, and Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) being an android. When mentioning what people should look forward to in the second half of season one, Bloys mentioned some of those theories:

"All I would say is, it’s a very satisfying end. I think questions will be answered. I love reading the fan theories online. I think it’s great the way people have engaged. I’m just pleased to see the reception from an engagement point of view, and that it has started all of these conversations. I think people will get the answers they’re looking for by the end of Season One. A lot of the ones that people are buzzing about. There are a lot of theories out there, and with some of them, I’ve been very impressed with how they’ve constructed the guesses. I’ll just say, they’re getting close.
I think a lot of the fans are engaging with Dolores and Maeve specifically, and so from an emotional point of view, I think that will grow, in terms of those characters’ journeys. And from a mystery point of view and a story point of view, I think you will get — I don’t know if “answers” is the right word, but maybe it’s “satisfaction.” You’ll see how Ford and the Man in Black play out by the end, story-wise."

Intriguing. He obviously knows how season one will end, and it'll be fascinating to see how many of the mysteries the show has set up will pay off relatively quickly. He sure seems to be indicating that we'll find out a lot at the end of season one, which leaves me wondering where the story will go in the future — assuming he grants them a second season, which seems all but a given at this point.

What do you think? What are your favorite Westworld theories, and which ones do you think could end up being true?

If You Want to Punish Yourself, Relive Negan's Brutal WALKING DEAD Murders in LEGO Form

Though it's probably assumed, let's just go ahead and mention right up front that this video contains massive spoilers for the most recent season premiere of The Walking Dead. If you're not caught up, turn back now.

Personally, I stopped watching The Walking Dead years ago, but I watched this video just to make sure it was legit before I posted it, and even as someone who gave up on the show, I have to say that this was an effective piece of television. I got a sick, sinking feeling in my stomach watching it, and I don't even have any attachment at all to these characters. I can't imagine what it must have been like to be a massive fan of Abraham and Glenn and to see this go down in such a brutal way. But hey, if you're into self-punishment and didn't get enough from just watching the actual premiere, relive the carnage below in LEGO form:

Heroes Will Have Varying Screen Times in Both AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Films

0
0

When it comes down to how the screen time will divide out between the speculated massive cast for Avengers: Infinity War, it's all about balance. Comicbook did a great breakdown of the interviews the Marvel team has given on the film where they still have yet to confirm the entire cast selection for the two-film saga and who will be at the either films' forefront. One thing that is certain is that Kevin Feige has faith in his screenwriters:

“Well it’s about the screenplay and Chris Markus and Steve McFeely — out of everyone we’ve worked with — have a very deft hand with balance...There are a lot of characters in [the first] Captain America; there are a lot of characters in The Winter Soldier, and of course Civil War has as many as we’ve ever had, so it’s in very capable hands [when] it comes to divvying up the storylines in a way that services a primary narrative but [also] showcases many characters.”

Feige also went on to say they don't have a definitive number of how many heroes you'll see on screen at once, but assured that those scenes where there are a massive amount of heroes are few and far between.

Screenwriters Chris Markus and Steve McFeely shared their opinion on the script, and compared it to Civil War:

“When outlining it we certainly had those conversations. I mean in the same way that in Civil War not everyone has the same amount of scenes or lines, I think you can assume that with so many characters we'll have to be as rigorous, right? Where we say, 'well these people will have sort of larger stories and these people will have smaller stories,' and hopefully, they can flip in some cases. I know a few right off the top of my head that have a small part here and bigger part here."

I like that. It's good to know not everyone is going to be thrown in all at the same time, and I think it keeps it interesting to have the film focus on a separate set of characters. I'm guessing this means different battles will be taking place simultaneously at different locations around the world...and maybe in space?!

As was reported last year, Robert Downey Jr. is rumored to be getting $100 million per film, so it's safe to say he's going to have a large part in both films. My guess is that there will be several smaller cameos with some other characters outside of The Avengers' core cast, and possibly the Guardians of the Galaxy.

If Marvel plans on bringing their entire TV and film cast into the film (which they've hinted at doing)...that's an insane amount of people. That's also an expensive list, considering the caliber of talent across the board! My only guess is that cutting down screen time would be the only way to take guys like Benedict Cumberbatch, and cut them a substantially smaller check than they typically net. Something interesting Chris Markus added to the earlier statement has me curious:

"Yeah, the people in the background in one will come to the foreground in the second one. You know there will be moments where every last damn person who is still alive will be in the same room, and those are just a nightmare to write because Marvel, being very good about hiring very good actors who like, the 15th person there has two Oscars, and it's like oh my god. So yeah, it's crazy."

So are people getting killed off? Sounds intense, but then again you almost have to end The Avengers films after this, because how will you top it?! I'm getting too excited just thinking about it. How do you think they'll make it work?

Toy Reveals The New Look of POWER RANGERS Dinozord

The new Red Dinozord looks a lot different than its classic counterpart, according to io9. I might be in the minority in saying it's a good thing, because c'mon guys, there's no chance this one was making it in the upcoming Power Rangers film:

It looks so cheesy now that I'm out of the '90s! Anyway, it appears as though the new Dinozord will have one glowing blue cyclops eye, a giant gun mounted on the back, and look a lot less like a Voltron ripoff.

In addition to that, we also got a look at the new Morphers and Jason's sword:

I'm indifferent on the sword, but damn, that Morpher is dope! I like it better than the classic one!

Cool Superhero Short Film SIDEKICK Features Josh Dallas, Emily Bett Rickards, and Tom Cavanagh

If Prince Charming, Felicity, and Harrison Wells all do a short film together, you bet your ass it's gonna be on here! Josh Dallas takes on Tom Cavanagh in his son's fantasy in the incredibly well-done Sidekick! For a short film, the production budget must be pretty high. I'm guessing whoever funded this had some deep pockets to begin with if they were able to scoop up this talent for a 15-minute feature. Check it out below.

THOR: RAGNAROK Director Confirms PLANET HULK Character; Plus Check Out Thor's New Costume

0
0

Talk about Marvel Studios making a Planet Hulk movie has been brewing for years, and it turns out that while the company isn't exactly adapting the storyline directly, they're incorporating a bunch of elements from it into Taika Waititi's upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. In the background of the set video the director posted to Facebook last night, The Hollywood Reporter noticed something very interesting:

Waititi did let something unexpected slip, introducing an actor who's playing a character called Miek. That name should sound familiar to Marvel's comic book faithful — he was an alien who teamed with the Hulk to overthrow a despotic regime that forced slaves to fight gladiatorial battles in order to survive on the planet Sakaar.

We know that Thor is teaming up with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, who exiled himself at the end of Age of Ultron, in the new movie, and that Jeff Goldblum is playing The Grandmaster who oversees gladiatorial combat of alien races, so while this won't be a complete, 100% adaptation of what fans have been wanting, it sounds like there will be plenty of nods and elements incorporated to satiate those who've had their fingers crossed for a Planet Hulk movie.

Additionally, Hemsworth took the opportunity to apologize for an insensitive costume he wore at a party last year. This is a classy move, because as Pajiba points out, he's apologizing of his own volition and hasn't been shamed into doing it. It's not a PR move, it's a genuine apology, which makes it infinitely better. In any case, you can see Thor's new costume in the photo below.
