Watch The LOGAN Trailer With Footage From X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

It was only a matter of time before this happened, but YouTuber PhilySteak has cut a new version of the Logan trailer using the audio from the trailer and footage from X-Men: The Animated Series. And yes, technically some of these clips come from X-Men: Evolution because X-23 — who was just recently 100% officially confirmed to appear in Logan — didn't appear in the original animated series (as far as I can recall). Either way, it's obviously not going to be a perfect 1:1 comparison, but I'd say this video is pretty close considering what the editor had to work with.

Here's the real trailer to refresh your memory:

Cool Anime Short Film SHELTER Follows The Last Human Alive

If you're a fan of anime, you've gotta see this short film about "the last human alive." This seven minute short film was created by Porter Robinson and Crunchyroll with A-1 Pictures. Here's the description:

Shelter tells the story of Rin, a 17-year-old girl who lives her life inside of a futuristic simulation completely by herself in infinite, beautiful loneliness. Each day, Rin awakens in virtual reality and uses a tablet which controls the simulation to create a new, different, beautiful world for herself. Until one day, everything changes, and Rin comes to learn the true origins behind her life inside a simulation.

I'm gonna warn you now, it gets a little sad! Be prepared with some tissues or something! I didn't cry...and if I did, I wouldn't admit it!

Tom Cruise Talks About TOP GUN 2 and Recounts The Time He Barfed in a Fighter Jet

Tom Cruise and Cobie Smulders recently went on The Graham Norton Show to promote their new movie Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (read my interview with the director here), and Norton couldn't resist bringing up the long-rumored Top Gun 2, which Paramount and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have been trying to crack for years at this point.

Watch as Cruise deftly avoids officially committing to the sequel as easily as Maverick spiking a volleyball, and listen as he tells a story about ralphing in the backseat of a fighter jet during filming on the first Top Gun movie:

George Lucas Reportedly Isn't Involved in The Story of INDIANA JONES 5

I nearly forgot Indiana Jones 5 was happening, because after hearing the one-two punch that A) David Koepp (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) is writing the screenplay, and B) George Lucas would be creatively involved, it sapped a lot of the enthusiasm I had when I heard the announcement that Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford were returning for a fifth movie. But now, according to a new report, it turns out Lucas won't be so involved after all.

Traditionally, the Indy films have all begun with George Lucas coming up with the story, and then other screenwriters being brought on board to physically write the scripts. Lucas was famously insistent about including aliens in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and part of the reason there was such a huge gap in between The Last Crusade and Crystal Skull was because it took a long time for Spielberg and Ford to agree with that concept and finally find a script that they thought was good enough. But in a new interview with Collider, screenwriter David Koepp revealed that won't be the case for Indy 5. When asked if Lucas was involved with the story of the upcoming fifth film, Koepp responded:

“He’s not, to my knowledge. I’ve had no contact with him.”

Look, Lucas obviously gets all the credit in the world for launching both Star Wars and the Indy franchises, and no one can ever take that away from him. But there's no denying that he's lost a bit of his touch in recent decades, and as someone who's a huge fan of both Raiders and Last Crusade but would be fine with never watching the other Indy movies ever again, I'm a little relieved to hear that Lucas won't be tinkering around with this character in a writing capacity this time. (He's still on board as an executive producer.)

Koepp was also asked what they learned from the fifth movie that might have informed the approach that they're taking with this new one, and Koepp said:

“I think that what [Indy] looks for and when he looks for it dictates what the movie’s gonna be. So the selection of the MacGuffin is everything. I think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, being set in 1957 there was a conscious desire to say, ‘Much like two of the other ones were World War II movies set in the 30s and early 40s, this is ’57 so a lot of our influences are gonna be science-fiction movies.’ You got that with the original [script], Jeb Stuart took the first shot at it with Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men from Mars. That was a really conscious decision that dictated a lot about what the story would be and what the movie would be like, and I think that was followed through on really nicely. I thought Steve did a really good job with that. I don’t know that the idea was most suited to an Indiana Jones movie, but that was what we did. So we tried to be very careful with the selection of the MacGuffin and the eras to give ourselves as much latitude to make the best kind of Indiana Jones movie that we most want to see. Learning how that’s the importance of the choice of the MacGuffin is a big deal.

And as far as updates on the current script, Koepp offered this humorous quote and a quick follow-up:

“I’m deeply immersed as we speak. All I can say is that there’s lots of aliens and Indy dies at the end (laughs). Lots of hiding in lead-lined refrigerators, aliens, and he dies. Should go over very well.
It feels like it has a lot of momentum behind it. We have ‘top men’ working on it as we speak (laughs). No, it’s going really well. I really like our idea; I think it’s clean and simple and makes a lot of sense, and I feel like the writing is going really well.”

Indiana Jones 5 is already scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 19, 2019, and the filmmakers are eyeing a late 2017 start date, depending on Spielberg's busy schedule. We'll keep you posted with any big updates, but in the meantime, what do you think about this news?

Video: Tom Hanks Recreates His BIG Rap with YouTubers While Ron Howard Dances in The Background

YouTubers Phil and Wesley from Wong Fu Productions flew to Florence, Italy for the premiere of Ron Howard and Tom Hanks' new movie Inferno, and during the press junket, they convinced Hanks to recreate his famous "shimmy shimmy cocoa pop" rap from the classic 1988 body swap comedy Big. It certainly doesn't seem like Hanks is going to forget those lyrics any time soon, because he doesn't miss a beat here.

For our younger readers who may not have seen Big, check out the clip first, and then watch Hanks flawlessly recreate the magic in the video below (the new recreation of the rap starts at 3:29):

Margot Robbie May Join Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, and More in PETER RABBIT

Sony's live-action/CG hybrid film adaptation of Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit already has an impressive cast, but they're looking to lock down at least one more big name before production gets underway.

Talk show host James Corden is voicing the title character, while Rose Byrne and Domhnall Gleeson are playing live-action roles — a woman named Bea (maybe a fictionalized version of Beatrix Potter herself?) and the menacing antagonist farmer, Mr. McGregor. Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki are on board, too, and now Deadline reports that Suicide Squad and The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie is nearing a deal to lend her voice to one of the film's characters. There's no word on who she would be voicing, but in the books, the mischievous Peter has three sisters named Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, so I wouldn't be surprised if those roles ended up going to Ridley, Debicki, and Robbie.

Also, while this movie marks a Star Wars reunion for Domhnall Gleeson and Daisy Ridley, this would be the third time Gleeson has worked with Robbie, following the 2013 romantic time travel drama About Time and the upcoming A.A. Milne biopic about the Winnie the Pooh creator, in which they play husband and wife. (That one's rumored to be called Goodbye Christopher Robin, but doesn't have an official title yet.)

Will Gluck (Easy A) is directing Peter Rabbit and took a pass at the script, and filming should begin in Robbie's native country of Australia this coming January.

See Green Arrow Evolve Over The Past 75 Years in Quick Video

I'm just now getting around to seeing this video that was released by DC All Access last Friday, but I thought it was worth passing along to you all. It's a short but cool little piece that shows how the character of Green Arrow has changed and evolved in the comics over the past 75 years. It's interesting to see that, at least as far as costuming goes, the character has only undergone a couple of redesigns in the course of more than seven decades. He's basically looked the same since 1969, though he's certainly experienced some dark days since his debut in More Fun Comics #73.

Peter Jackson and His LOTR Co-Writers Get The Greenlight For MORTAL ENGINES

$

Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philipa Boyens — the co-writers of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies — have been given the greenlight to adapt Philip Reeve's book Mortal Engines into a movie. Jackson has been passionate about this one since 2009, when the project was first mentioned and rumors were that he was going to direct. That won't be the case here; Deadline reports that he, Walsh, and Boyens wrote the screenplay, but he's handing directing duties off to his Hobbit VFX protege Christian Rivers. This will be Rivers' directorial debut, but he's been working with Jackson for the past 25 years in positions ranging from a storyboard artist to a second unit director, so he's likely absorbed enough to know how to get the job done.

I've never read Reeve's book (which is the first in a series), but Deadline has a short, simple breakdown of its plot:

It’s a [post-apocalyptic film set in a] distant future where the cities of earth roam the globe on huge wheels, consuming smaller towns and processing all reusable materials to create power to run the engines that make the cities mobile and able to gobble up more and more of the planet’s dwindling resources. London’s mayor has bigger plans than the domination of a small town and several young people try to stop him.

Whoa. That sounds like it could be seriously epic, and according to this statement, Jackson certainly has confidence in his young protege:

“Christian is one of my closest collaborators. The combination of emotion and jaw-dropping visuals in Mortal Engines makes this the perfect movie for his move into feature directing. What Christian intends to do with Philip Reeve’s terrific story is going to result in an original and spectacular movie. I wish I could see it tomorrow!”

Since Amblin Entertainment isn't mentioned in the press release, it seems like a good bet that we can cross Mortal Engines off the list of contenders for being the secret project Jackson was working on for Steven Spielberg earlier this summer. (Either that, or the movie has simply switched companies and Amblin is no longer involved.)

Production on the film begins next spring in New Zealand. Have you read the book? Are you ready to see a film version?

Wickedly Terrifying Trailer for the Russian Horror Film THE BRIDE

A trailer was recently released for an insane looking Russian horror film called The Bride. The trailer may be fully in Russian, but that doesn't mean the movie won't still scare the living shit out of you. I was genuinely creeped out by some of the visuals in this trailer.

The Bride was written and directed by Svyatoslav Podgayevskiy, a Russian filmmaker who previously helmed a film called Queen of Spades: The Dark Rite. There's currently no plot summary, so I'm not really sure what is going on. One thing I know for sure is how scary it looks!

There’s currently no US release date for his new film, but I imagine it will pop up somewhere to watch sometime next year.

I've got some really cool Star Wars fan art for you to check out today by Dave Rapoza. The art offers us some awesome character designs for the bounty hunters Greedo, Bossk, and IG-88. I've seen a lot of fan art for these characters over the years, and I love Rapoza's take on them. You can even watch the artist at work on this piece in a video I posted below the art.

With Lucasfilm planning all these standalone Star Wars film, I really hope that we get to see these characters explored a little more in some way. I doubt they'll ever get their very own standalone films, but they should!

Steven Yeun Explains the Meaning of His Words at the End of THE WALKING DEAD Season 7 Premiere

The Walking Dead season seven premiere was absolutely brutal! I already knew what was going to go down, but seeing it play out the way it did was just so damn depressing. I had to watch a couple episodes of Frasier before I went to bed to try and cheer myself up.

I'm sure you've all seen the episode by now, but if you haven't I suggest you don't read any further because I am going to get into some major spoiler territory.

Before we get into the spoiler talk, here is a preview, promo spot, and some photos of the upcoming second episode of season seven. The episode is called "The Well," and this is the brief summary: "For a number of familiar faces, a new, well-established community seems too good to be true."

Now on to the spoiler talk! Seeing Abraham and Glenn being beaten to a bloody pulp was so freakin' unnerving. This series will truly never be the same now that Negan has taken over. I have no idea how Rick and his friends are going to survive under this guy's rule.

Abraham went out telling Negan to suck his nuts, which is exactly what you'd expect Abraham to say. Then there was poor Glenn, and his death was absolutely heartbreaking. We knew that it was going to come because he dies at the hands of Negan in the comics.

After his head was brutally bashed in with one of his eyes popping out of his head, he turned to Maggie and managed to get his last words out. Those words were:

"Maggie, I'll find you."

During a recent interview with AMC, Steven Yeun explained what those last words mean:

"I think Glenn was fighting to find words and 'Maggie, I’ll find you' was a callback to another experience and another time when he really was trying to find her. Maybe it was a subconscious thought or maybe something he held onto for a while that was his driving force, and when he got smashed in the head, it just brought it to the forefront. There are so many ways to look at it."

There have been a lot of spiritual ties and references for these characters, so when I first made out what Glenn said I thought that he meant he would find her in the afterlife. Like Yeun says, there are so many ways to look at it. What was your first thought upon hearing Glenn's last words? How did you take this meaning?

Do You Have $40,000 To Spend on a Human-Size GODZILLA Statue?

If you're in the market for a life-size Godzilla statue and you have $40,000 laying around to purchase one, then today's your lucky day!

The statue comes from Famitsu, who says that it's the same size as the Godzilla costumes that the actors used to wear when they were shooting the films.

The design of the statue was overseen by Yuji Sakai, who also oversaw the suit used in some of the Godzilla films that have been made over the years. Apparently the design is based on the 1991 version of Godzilla that appeared in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah

This is the ultimate Godzilla collector's item. I'm personally waiting for a life-size statue of the of the giant creature to be made!

Xenomorphs Get a New Name in ALIEN: COVENANT, Plus Rumored Details on How They're Born

$

Some new information about the aliens in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant have been revealed, and if you're a fan of the franchise, you'll probably want to read this. However, there is some possible spoiler-filled information here. During an interview with BBC Radio 2, Michael Fassbender let it slip that the Xenomorphs will have a new name in the film, AVP Galaxy has also offered some possible information about this new form of alien and how they are born. This is just rumored information for now, but if you want to know what it is, then by all means, read ahead.

It's been confirmed that the new alien species in the film's story will be called Neomorphs, and here's the breakdown of how they are born according to the report:

"These Aliens are the result of the local ecosystem being mutated by the accelerant/black goo. Over time, pods started to grow on the trees and the ground, and release a spore when disturbed.
"These spores infect several members of the Covenant crew by entering the body through the ear and nostrils. The spores cause the growth of the Neomorphs inside the infected hosts – something that is reminiscent of William Gibson’s first draft of Alien 3. One of the Neomorphs bursts from the back of one of the infected crew, a “backburster”. The other crewmember’s Neomorph erupts through their throat.
"The births are preceded by the eruption of two small dorsal spikes. These spikes and a pointed skull are also used to break out of an embryonic sack (similar to the Deacon in Prometheus). The Neomorph resembles some of the older concept art of the proto-Aliens from Prometheus (see below), specifically the white colouration, with a pointed head and two dorsal spines. Upon birth, the Neomorphs move on all fours similar to the Bambi-burster from Alien 3.
"When they mature, they grow significantly larger and walk on their back legs. They were more animal-like in behaviour with fang-like teeth. Unlike the earlier Prometheus concepts, the Neomorphs also have tails. In addition, the adult Neomorphs also developed a slightly translucent appearance (harkening back to unused concepts from Alien and Prometheus) as previously rumored."

This should be some pretty fun and gruesome stuff to see in the movie! Again, there's no word on if this is true or not, but it would be pretty cool if it were. These new aliens were previously talked about in a separate rumor that revealed the following:

“The movie will have 2 Monsters, one is new and both are different yet similar to the Xeno DNA. The NEW Monster is a New Event, so it’s nothing created before the Events of the end of the First movie.... it's created by an event in the movie... and this New Monster is going to be based off of the Original Concept that Alien drew influence from, and this idea is something they had planned with Spaights’ Ultramorph and so Gigers Necomonicon 4 is the starting point. This Monster will be transparent like a Jelly Fish to a degree.... and it’s hinted that David plays a part in its creation."

There are a lot of cool details and rumors that we've heard about the film that you can read here if you want. Regardless of if this is all true or not, I'm still excited to see what Scott has done with this next chapter in his Alien mythology. Alien: Covenant comes out on August 4th, 2017.

James Wan Reveals Details About AQUAMAN and His Relationship with Mera

Not long ago, Zack Snyder offered us our first look at Amber Heard as Mera the Queen of Atlantis in Justice League. This character is obviously going to play a big role in James Wan's solo Aquaman film, and in a recent interview with Bustle, the director revealed some details about the love/hate relationship that the two will have in the movie.

The director previously described the film as a "swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. It's ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone." He now adds to that, saying that he really wants "to get the classic action-adventure-romance aspect through that, and I think that’s kind of fun."

If you look at the kind of relationships that lead characters had in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone, then you'll understand the kind of love/hate relationship that Aquaman and Mera will have, and I think it's a fun way to approach it. Wan explained:

"It starts off initially with them not quite clicking with each other. But then as the story progresses as they learn to try and work together, they get closer and closer. I think those stories are always such a great place for a filmmaker like myself to have fun with my actors."

When talking about Heard's portrayal of Mera in the film, Wan added:

"I think that dynamic will be really interesting between the two. Amber’s character is super strong, she’s very powerful as well. You don’t wanna mess with her. I think Amber will bring that sense of strength, but at the same time, we also want someone who has a sort of feminine quality to her as well. She’s a bit of a contrast to Momoa, who’s more of a muscular machine almost."

I really do hope she can pull it off. I've never really been impressed by anything Heard has done in her career. But maybe she'll be good in this role. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Aquaman is set to hit theaters on July 18th, 2018. What do you think about the direction Wan is taking the relationship of these two characters?
