Awesome Speedster Jackets Inspired By THE FLASH

If you're a fan of the costumes worn by the many speedsters introduced in CW's The Flash series, you're going to love this line of themed leather jackets from FJackets.com. The jackets you see here were inspired by Barry Allen's Flash, The Reverse Flash, Zoom, and Jay Garrick. Most of the designs are pretty spot on and beautifully crafted. I'd have to say my favorite is the Zoom jacket. My least favorite is Barry Allen's Flash jacket because the logo just doesn't seem to work for it. It's too big.

FJackets has a few other variations of Flash jackets coming that will include Kid Flash and The Rival. They'll even offer a jacket based on the upcoming Justice League Flash design. If you're interested in purchasing one of these, click here.

I have no idea why it took this long to get a remote controlled Mouse Droid from Star Wars, but I guess it's better late than never. I've always wanted something like this and now the fans can have it!

The Mouse Droid will be available to purchase sometime in mid-December at select locations at Disneyland and Disney World. I'm sure you'll be able to to buy it online as well, but that hasn't been specified.

Here's the clip from the movie where the droid is introduced. I hope the new toy makes the same sounds!

10 Great Movies In Which The Bad Guy Actually Wins

$

0

It's rare to get a good movie in which the bad guy actually wins at the end. Most of the time the hero of the story wins, because that's what most general audiences want to see in a story. Sometimes life isn't fair like that, though; sometimes the good guys lose, but it still makes for a great story!

Screenrant has released a great video that highlights ten great films where the villain wins. Some of the films listed in the video include: The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, No Country For Old Men, The Silence of the Lambs, The Usual Suspects, Seven, Captain America: Civil War, and more. Here's the description that came with the video:

Typically in Hollywood movies, no matter what kind of obstacles are thrown in the hero’s way, they find a way to come out on top. James Bond always lives to fight another day, Superman sends Lex Luthor to jail, and the crew of the Starship Enterprise goes off on another mission through the Final Frontier. As feel-good as this can be, it does run the risk of getting stale, and sometimes the filmmakers have to mix things up. Every once in a while, the villain gets the upper hand to make life truly miserable for the protagonist and leave audiences feeling dire. Here are 10 famous movies where the bad guy actually wins.

RICK AND MORTY Hilariously Recreated in FALLOUT 4

If you're a fan of Adult Swim's animated series Rick and Morty and the hit video game Fallout 4, you're gonna love this new web-series from UpIsNotJump. It recreates Rick and Morty in Fallout 4 and it's pretty freakin' funny. There are two episodes that have been released so far and there are more to come. According to the creator, he's "remaking the whole episode of 'Look Who's Purging Now' in Fallout 4. This should keep us busy until Rick and Morty season 3. To make this video I used a lot of mods from Nexus mods." This is wonderfully entertaining and I'm sure you'll all get a kick out of it.

DEADPOOL Director Tim Miller Drops Out of Sequel Due to Creative Differences with Ryan Reynolds

Whoa, wait... what!? That's right folks, Tim Miller, the director of the incredibly awesome Deadpool movie that fans fell in love with has dropped out of the sequel. This news was completely unexpected and I've gotta say... incredibly sad to hear. These two guys made such a great badass first movie together.

The news comes from Deadline who says that his departure was due to creative differences with Ryan Reynolds. It seemed like these two talented individuals made a great team who both wanted to make the best possible Deadpool films for the fans. I guess this means that it's going to be Reynolds' vision of the film or nothing.

The report says that Miller's time on the project "ended amicably and the studio is very high on Miller and the expectation is the filmmaker will jump right into another big Fox project: Influx, an adaptation of the David Suarez novel that has a Mark Bomback script and is expected to launch a film trilogy." So at least Miller is jumping on another cool film project to work on.

I was just pumped up about seeing the same team that brought the magic to the first Deadpool movie come back together for Deadpool 2 and now that's gone. I wonder who Reynold's and the producers will bring on to replace Miller. It's a bloody shame that Miller and Reynolds couldn't work out their differences.

Will the sequel be an inferior film because of Miller's exit? The first film just seemed like such a collaborative effort. Is Reynolds the true brains behind the operation? We know the guy is extremely passionate about Deadpool and has such a deep love and respect for the character and the source material, so I don't think he'll steer it in the wrong direction.

What do you all think about Miller dropping out of Deadpool?

Netflix has released a couple of great videos just in time for Halloween that show you how to make meals inspired by their hit series Stranger Things. The team behind Netflix Kitchen shows us how to make "Demagorgon Pie." They previously showed us how to make "French Onion Barb." Unfortunately, the videos do not offer you any of the ingredients you need to make these, but you're all resourceful and I'm sure you can figure it out if you decide to give it a try.

THE EVIL DEAD IN CONCERT is a L.A. Halloween Theatrical Experience You Don't Want to Miss

If you live in Los Angeles and you're a fan of Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead, there's a Halloween theatrical experience coming up that you don't want to miss out on!

The Evil Dead is going to be screened at the gothic 1920s movie palace The Theatre at Ace Hotel with a live orchestra performing a re-imagined score for the film! The old hotel is going to be all decked out for the event in gory Halloween greatness.

The world premiere of The Evil Dead in Concert / Live to Film: A Halloween Theatrical Experience will take place on Tuesday, October 25th and Bruce Campbell will be there to host it! I've included all of the details for the event below. I'll definitely be attending!

THE EVIL DEAD IN CONCERT / LIVE TO FILM: A HALLOWEEN THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE.
This event, hosted by Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell, will include LA’s wild Up chamber orchestra performing a re-imagined score of Sam Raimi’s classic horror film live to picture. This score is written by the film’s original composer Joseph LoDuca, who will also be a featured artist. Opening the show will be Harry Potter’s Luna Lovegood, Evanna Lynch, and violinist Lili Haydn, performing the World Premiere of Joseph LoDuca’s The Tell-Tale Heart: A Duet In Terror based on Edgar Allan Poe’s horror classic.
Legend has it that The Theatre at Ace Hotel is haunted by the spectral remains of singers and musicians from jazz’s Golden Age. These phantasmagorical artists will be acting as a Greek chorus throughout the evening.
Co-directing the event are Award-winning Jaime Robledo and Richard Kraft who was recently the creative director on the highly acclaimed Disney’s The Little Mermaid In Concert at The Hollywood Bowl starring Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson. The show is being produced by Wordless Music, Laura Engel & Richard Kraft, Spaceland and Allison Abbate.
The Evil Dead has developed an expansive cult following and has been cited among the greatest horror films of all time, notably gaining support from horror author Stephen King and leading to sequels, as well as accompanying video games, comic books and a television series.

You can purchase tickets for the event right here if you're interested.

Kotobukiya has created a new bishoujo statue and this one features an awesome gender bent version of Edward Scissorhands. It's a beautifully designed piece that I'm sure any fan of Edward Scissorhands will enjoy. Here's the description:

The bishoujo series returns to the classics with Edward Scissorhands! Beautifully sculpted in 1:7 scale, this interpretation of the character based on an original illustration by Shunya Yamashita brings Edward to life as never before! High-quality sculpting brings out all the details, from the scissor hands and wild hair to the straps and buckles on the Gothic-style clothing. The Edward Scissorhands Bishoujo Statue measures approximately 9-inches tall on a themed base. Made of plastic, it comes packed in a 5th-panel window box.
  • She's cute, but be careful!
  • Extraordinarily detailed bishoujo-style statue!
  • The Edward Scissorhands Bishoujo Statue stands about 9-inches tall.
  • Based on an illustration by Shunya Yamashita.

Review: The Dazzling DOCTOR STRANGE Takes Marvel Studios to a Whole New Dimension

$
0
0

It's been less than ten years since Marvel Studios kicked off its grand experiment with Iron Man and changed Hollywood forever, and it's interesting to look at the ways the company has both relied on what's worked and pushed its own boundaries since then. The studio's fourteenth (!) movie, Doctor Strange, is, when you break it down, a relatively formulaic origin story, but in many ways its the studio's most daring creation yet. This is the most visually stunning film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while co-writer/director Scott Derrickson leans on familiar beats in the screenplay, it's his stylistic eye that makes the movie leap off of the screen and truly command your attention.

Benedict Cumberbatch is perfectly cast at Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant surgeon who loses the use of his hands and travels across the world to learn the mystic arts of magic. He's just as arrogant as Tony Stark and he's great at being a total jerk to everyone around him, including his former flame, a fellow doctor named Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams). But he's believable at his lowest point, too, when he's begging The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) to teach him after his mind has been opened to the idea of multiple universes existing at the same time. And he pulls off the physical requirements of the part without breaking a sweat, falling and fighting and flying through dimensions with equal aplomb. Among the newest class of Marvel heroes, he's already proven to be a standout success and it'll be a lot of fun to see him interact with the rest of the ever-expanding cast of the MCU.

But one of the most fascinating things about Doctor Strange is that it's almost entirely self-contained. Though thirteen movies have come before it, this film barely hints that those or its characters exist, wisely choosing to focus on Strange's arc instead of falling into the trap of something like Iron Man 2, a film ultimately remembered more as connective tissue laying groundwork for future MCU properties than as its own movie. Strange introduces us to a corner of the Marvel universe which has big implications for future movies, but this movie's primary mission is telling its own story. (It's sort of crazy that we're at the point in superhero movie culture where we give props to a film for simply keeping its eye on the ball and not spending too much time setting up sequels, but when so many other properties fail to do this, a baseline level of competency is no longer a given.)

Warning: very light spoilers ahead.

Where this film really soars, though, is in its visuals. Derrickson and his visual effects team have managed to create some sequences that are — and I mean this literally — unlike anything we've ever seen, and when you see some of these moments, your jaws are going to hit the floor. The marketing is heavily promoting the visual similarities to Inception (and they're certainly there, complete with a rotating hallway fight), but this movie gets much weirder than just a few buildings shifting around. There's a scene in which Strange basically flies through panels of Steve Ditko's art that have come to life, and it feels like a perfect marriage between the character's psychedelic origins and modern blockbuster sensibilities. And while tons of superhero movies have used destruction of cities as a way to convey the scope of the danger their heroes face, Doctor Strange deliberately goes in the opposite direction: the title character learns how to manipulate time, so this film's climax actually revolves around putting a destroyed city back together again. But as Strange's power sends the location sailing backwards through time, he and some of the other characters engage in a fight that happens while they're moving forward in time, providing one of the film's most visually stunning moments.

Not every aspect is as remarkable as its visuals, though. Rachel McAdams' Christine Palmer is, like so many other female characters in the MCU, stuck on the sidelines with little to do, and one of the fight scenes (a centerpiece set in the streets of New York City) begins to feel a bit repetitive after a while. The overall pacing could use some help, too; it opens with a fight sequence depicting the villain (Mads Mikkelsen) stealing something from The Ancient One's compound, but he conveniently disappears for a large swath of the movie until Doctor Strange has trained enough to face off against him.

But the positives far outweigh the negatives here. Michael Giacchino's score occasionally recalls the theme of Cumberbatch's Sherlock, and it's one of the very few Marvel Studios scores that is actually memorable. The film touches on deep themes like science vs. faith, and its humor, while often predictable, largely works. Swinton, Mikkelsen, and Benedict Wong give strong supporting performances, and the movie's ending features an inventive and fun scene between Strange and the movie's larger villain that's a wonderful little hint of the type of weirdness that's possible in this new corner of the universe. Every time the movie tiptoes toward feeling too familiar, something wild will happen that will make you shake your head and smile that they succeeded in making something this crazy on this scale.

Dazzling, daring, and delightfully different, Doctor Strange is another big win for Marvel Studios.

“My only regret is I didn’t do more."

We all know The Joker is a bad dude that has done some bad deeds, but wildlife smuggling, monkey baiting, and failure to properly restrain a rhino? Those are interesting! A very long list of crimes that the Joker has committed in his life have been listed in Batman: Arkham VR, and the ones I mentioned are just a few of them. This is just a fun bit of trivia that I thought all you Joker fans would appreciate.

New POWER RANGERS Motion Poster Gives Us a Helmet Close-Up of The Characters

new-power-rangers-character-posters-focuses-on-the-helmets1

The first trailer for Power Rangers was released a couple of weeks ago and even though I wasn't really that impressed with it, most audiences seemed to enjoy it, which is cool! I really hope that the movie turns out to be good! I just want to see a new trailer with a bit more action in it.

Lionsgate has now released a motion poster featuring the team and offering us a close-up look at their helmets. I also included the synopsis for the film along with their character descriptions. Below that you can check out the character posters.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge ob being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.”
"Jason, the Red Ranger (DACRE MONTGOMERY) was a football legend in his small town of Angel Grove until one fateful mistake. When we first meet Jason, he is in need of redemption and is struggling to find himself. But soon he is given a chance to lead a new team made up of an unlikely group of teenage superheroes and must find it in himself to rise to the challenge."
"Kimberly, the Pink Ranger (NAOMI SCOTT) used to be Queen Bee of Angel Grove High, but has been cast out of the popular clique and is now struggling to find her identity. She has a new rebel- without-a-cause, edgy attitude, but this front is hiding a secret that makes her feel deeply vulnerable."
"Billy, the Blue Ranger (RJ CYLER) has always been challenged in his abilities to communicate and interact socially. Whip-smart and sweet, he is the most pure-hearted of the group. Billy has never really had any friends, so finding teenagers that he is comfortable with is a big deal, and soon he begins connecting with people in a way he’s never been able to do before."
"Trini, the Yellow Ranger (BECKY G) is mysterious but extremely bright. Her parents constantly move for work, making her the perpetual new girl to any school. A loner who owns it, Trini is self-sufficient and contemplative, but always observant. All she wants is to find her gang of friends, but she’ll never admit it — least of all to herself."
"Zack, the Black Ranger (LUDI LIN) is filled with bravado and swagger. He is tough and cool on the exterior but has many layers beyond his fearless appearance. Zack advertises everything about himself, except the truth, which makes him feel deeply inferior to all his peers."

Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24, 2017.

Think Geek has unveiled a pair of Star Wars-themed Chewbacca slippers that come with two different roars! Every time you take a step the slippers will let out a "RRRAARRWHHGWWR" and "WAAAAAAAAARGH." If you already have a Chewbacca robe, this will complete your outfit! Here's the description:

"What was Han without Chewbacca, his faithful co-pilot and companion? Without Chewie how would he have gained his bad-boy smuggler image? His swagger? Without Chewie would Han have wandered aimlessly, lost in the galaxy? Probably! It is really one of the all-time, best-known, worthy-of-hyphens, sci-fi partnerships.

"Warm your feet with these fuzzy Wookiee slippers, featuring the sound of Chewbacca (but not the smell). When you walk, these slippers alternate between two different Wookiee roars: RRRAARRWHHGWWR and WAAAAAAAAARGH. And for when you're being a sneakiee Wookiee, there's an on/off switch so you can silence them."

If you want a pair, they'll cost you $29.99 and you can buy them here.

There's a SAVED BY THE BELL-Themed Diner in Chicago; See Mario Lopez Give a Tour

There's a Saved By the Bell-themed Diner in Chicago made to look exactly like The Max diner in the show. It's called Saved By The Max, and it's hilariously awesome. The detail that went into to making this a reality is crazy. It looks exactly like it looked in the classic '90s series.

The menu for the diner was created by Michelin-starred chef Brian Fisher so the food here also tastes great! The restaurant serves dinner every night and brunch on the weekends. The characters from the series even have their own themed dishes on the menu, which you can check out in the menu that I posted below.

Oh yeah! Mr. Belding even showed up! It looks like it would be a fun place to visit. You can check out their website and Facebook page for details on hours, the menu, events, and more.

Video Explores VHS Tapes and Wonders If They're Really as Bad as We Remember

I've got an interesting video that explores the VHS tapes that many of us grew up with and examines if they are really as bad as we remember.  VHS tapes were the main form of watching movies at home until 1995, which is when DVDs started to take over. Around the year 2000, everyone was on the DVD train and VHS tapes were practically dead.

One of the biggest issues that I had with VHS tapes back in the day was when we had to mess with the tracking to get a clear picture and sometimes that didn't even work! The video below comes from The 8-Bit Guy and he basically proves to me that...yes, VHS tape are as bad as I remember.
