THE OFFICE Reimagined as a Horror Film in Great Fan Trailer

I was browsing Reddit today and found this year-old parody of The Office that absolutely needs to be shared! "My Cousin Mose" is a trailer reimagining the comedy show as a horror film, and it's pretty well done! Granted, it's pretty hard to imagine The Office as anything but a comedy, but the editing may convince a non-English speaker this is legit. Check out the trailer below.

Marvel Studios Unveils Vibrant DOCTOR STRANGE Blacklight Poster

Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange is getting closer every day, and after debuting a new international trailer this morning, the studio has released a very vibrant and incredibly cool blacklight poster. It's super rare to see movie studios put out an official poster like this — normally art with cool gimmicks like that are confined to the fan art world, or awesome galleries like NYC's Bottleneck NYC or L.A.'s Hero Complex Gallery. But the trippy visuals appear to fit with the absolutely bonkers-looking world of this particular film, so it's definitely a good throwback to the old-school '60s vibe of when the comics first gained popularity.

ComingSoon also points out that director Scott Derrickson may have had some impact on this marketing decision because last December, he tweeted a photo of a Doctor Strange blacklight poster he managed to track down that depicts a classic panel from the comics:

Do any of you have blacklights? Would you hang this on your wall? Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.

The Duffer Brothers Say Some of Your STRANGER THINGS Season 2 Theories Are "Very Close" To Being Correct

When 2016 comes to an end, Stranger Things is going to be at or near the top of the country's biggest pop culture fascinations of the year. The combination of '80s nostalgia with addicting, thrilling, and fun storytelling made the Netflix series a mega-success, and while I think we'd all be better off if we lowered our expectations a bit in regard to future episodes, the show's creators and showrunners The Duffer Brothers are now talking a bit about season 2 in a new interview with THR.

Matt: Even way back when we pitched to Netflix the first season, we talked about where it would potentially go. They understood the potential. Season one does almost feel like a big movie that comes to a sort of ending. A lot of that was based on the character of Will and the repercussions of him being in this upside down world for a week. Exploring that would be the second season. Once we got into the room for season two, we started expanding our mythology. We never got boxed in, because we’re dealing with an alternate dimension. It feels like the possibilities are limitless. We’re building up the mythology in a way that we know now where we want the story and these characters to end. We have more of a game plan now than we did two years ago.

They also touched on the episode titles as revealed in the teaser trailer video:

Ross: That was all our idea, so if it blows up in our faces …
Matt: Netflix had another teaser, but it was about going back to stuff that had happened already. I thought it wasn’t exciting enough, and we wanted to provide some hint of where we were going in season two without giving anything away. I do think some of the titles will change. There were titles we didn’t want to put on there because we felt like it would give too much away. The whole season was already broken when we did this.
Ross: So we did have a lot that we could tease.
Matt: Even if they aren't the final chapter titles, everything in that teaser is major. But they’re ambiguous enough that no one is going to be able to figure it out. Some of the fan theories online are amazing. Most are wrong, but I’ve read a few that are right or very close. Is it Reddit? Some of those people have figured stuff out based off of the chapter titles.
Ross: Some of these theories are elaborate and smart. They're not crap. I love reading this stuff.
Matt: But we don’t go on Reddit.
Ross: No, people send us the stuff. I know I would never get out if I went in there.

So it turns out some of those fan theories you've read (or heck, maybe you originated them) are either correct or very close to being correct. I suppose that's to be expected when you have a show largely written by just two guys and then having it dissected, analyzed, and theorized about by millions of people — at that point it's a numbers game, and somebody's bound to hit on the same story ideas they do.

Now we just have to wait until next summer to find out what happens.

Return to The Twisted World of BLACK MIRROR in Two New Featurettes For Season 3 Episodes

Who's ready for the return of Black Mirror? I know I am, and I just finished binging through the first two seasons a couple of months ago. I'm sure there are some of you who watched them as soon as they originally came out and you've been waiting a heck of a lot longer than I have.

In any case, season three of Charlie Brooker's brilliant and disturbing deconstruction of society's relationship to technology debuts on Netflix on October 21st, and the company has released two new featurettes that peel back the curtain a little about two of the six episodes we'll see in the third season. Bryce Dallas Howard and Wyatt Russell star in these episodes, and they both look terrific to me. Are you looking forward to season 3?

Excellent Short Film GIVERTAKER Mixes MEAN GIRLS With Horror Tropes

Here's a great short film called Givertaker that comes from a couple of filmmakers based out of Austin, Texas. It's about a teenaged girl who is convinced a couple of Mean Girls-esque classmates have ruined her reputation and made her life a living hell, so she turns to a mysterious supernatural creature called the Givertaker to enact her revenge on them.

The short serves as a proof of concept for the world of the "Dead Kids Club," which the filmmakers presumably hope to build out in future shorts or maybe even a feature film. Givertaker premiered at this year's Fantastic Fest, and I've embedded it below for you to check out. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!

Written by Peter S. Hall and directed by Paul GandersmanGivertaker is a short film love letter to '90s teen horror of all forms. Starring Nell Kessler, Caiti Ward (Rooster Teeth's "RWBY"), Jessica Perrin (Found Footage 3D), Sharmita Bhattacharya (iGirlfriend) and John James PepperGivertaker is the fun genre story of Sarah, an angry teen who conducts an ancient ritual to seek revenge on the classmates she believes have wronged her.

DON'T BREATHE's Fede Alvarez to Direct Noir Superhero Film INCOGNITO

If you skipped director Fede Alvarez's Don't Breathe earlier this year, I'd highly recommend checking it out as soon as it comes to home video. I didn't bother seeing the Evil Dead remake he directed a few years ago, but I was incredibly impressed the skills he showed in Don't Breathe, laying out a coherent sense of geography in a contained thriller that ramped its suspense up to 11. In my review, I mentioned how he's a director I'm definitely keen to keep an eye on now, and it appears that one of his next projects has been announced.

THR says that Alvarez is attached to direct a film called Incognito, a noir superhero adaptation of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' limited comic series. The story follows "a super villain who turns evidence against his boss, ending up in a witness protection program in which he’s administered drugs to suppress his powers and given a low-level job. But the man starts to chafe under his 'normal life' and when he finds a way to get his powers back, must decide what kind of life he wants to lead."

I haven't read the comics, but it definitely sounds like a cool concept. Any fans of the comic out there? Let me know who you think should be cast in the lead roles, and if you think Alvarez is the right guy to bring this story to life.

Video Compares Steven Spielberg's Shots to Stanley Kubrick's

Steven Spielberg took over directing A.I. Artificial Intelligence from Stanley Kubrick after Kubrick died, but when I saw the film, I was too young and inexperienced to be able to pinpoint all of the visual mimicry and references that Spielberg embedded in the final product as homage to his friend and fellow filmmaker. Now editor Candice Drouet (via Sploid) has edited together a quick video showing off a side-by-side comparison of some of the shots in A.I. with similar shots from Kubrick's filmography.

I've only seen A.I. once, and that was back in 2001 when it came out, so it's about time to rewatch it because it's gained something of a cult following and earned a reputation as an unsung masterpiece in the years since its debut.

See a New ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Poster; New Trailer Coming Tomorrow

Disney and Lucasfilm have unveiled a brand new poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which you can see above. While I like the very bottom of the poster with the beach environment, I have to say that I'm disappointed they chose to go with the "floating heads" approach with the rest of the poster. Yes, some will undoubtedly get excited by seeing Darth Vader's mask in the top right corner, and I suppose there's some sort of artistry involved or statement being made in attempting to visually blend Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso into the technology of Death Star itself, but when you step back, it looks like a lot of other boring posters and doesn't do much to get me excited about the movie. Even if I loved the film, this is just too generic to want to hang on my wall.

But perhaps we'll see some more compelling imagery tomorrow, when the studio revealed that a new trailer will be released during Good Morning America. Stay tuned for that to hit the internet, and in the meantime, sound off with your thoughts on the poster.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16, 2016.

Stunning New Trailer For ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

"Rebellions are built on hope!"

It's finally here! Lucasfilm has released the new full trailer for Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and it's incredible! I know Disney and Lucasfilm don't think that this is going to be as big a hit as The Force Awakens, but as much as I loved that movie, this one looks like it could be a better Star Wars film! The trailer is packed with awesome new footage and more insight into the story and characters that just left me breathless. I can't wait to see more! I just want to scream with excitement!

In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

The movie stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor, Alan Tudyk as K-2SO, Donnie Yen as Chirrut Imwe, Wen Jiang as Baze Malbus, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook, Ben Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic, and James Earl Jones as Darth Vader.

Rogue One hits theaters on December 16th.

Trailer for a Fun-Looking Ghost Story Thriller THE UNSPOKEN

If you're looking for a good-looking horror movie to watch this Halloween, The Unspoken looks like a great option! The first trailer for the film was released, and it actually looks like it could be a ghost story type thriller, especially if you like those kinds of horror films that deal with haunted children.

The movie doesn't have much star power. The most notable actor in the film in Neal McDonough (Captain America, Minority Report). The movie also stars Jodelle Ferland as a young babysitter who is hired to take care of a nine-year-old boy whose father was killed in the house they're still living in. As you might expect, creepy things start to happen. Here's a brief synopsis:

In 1997 the Anderson family vanished from their home without a trace. No bodies were ever found. For 17 years the house has remained undisturbed… until now.

The film has a simple story and concept, but sometimes it's ok not to overcomplicate things with horror films. Sometimes a good old-fashioned ghost story is good enough as long as it's well-made.

The Unspoken is set to haunt theaters on October 28th, just in time for Halloween!

Ewan McGregor Likes the Idea of Doing Two Obi-Wan Kenobi STAR WARS Films

There have been a lot of rumors in the past regarding Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off films. Ewan McGregor, who played the character in the prequel trilogy, has aways been part of these rumors and fans would love to see it happen! It'd be stupid if Lucasfilm didn't make any Obi-Wan spinoff films because they'd be awesome, and McGregor is totally up for reprising his role.

During a recent interview with Den Of Geek, McGregor was asked about the potential spinoff film, and he made sure to point out that there are currently no plans, which just seems ridiculous to me. He went on to say:

“I’ve always thought there was a story to tell between my last one and Alec Guinness’ first one. It would be fun to film that story now I’m older. I’d be the right age. I’m forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them (laughs)!”

He also explained what he hopes Lucasfilm and Disney do with the Star Wars franchise, saying:

“I hope that they’re going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!”

I personally like the idea of a trilogy, but if McGregor is willing to do two... I'll take it! There's been a good amount of news regarding this potential spinoff series, so make sure to check out all of the Obi-Wan Kenobi news here. I'm sure one day it will happen, of course, but I'd like to see it happen sooner rather than later.

Super Fun NIGHT OF THE LIVING BREAD Zombie Movie Parody

When I was a kid I used to watch horror movies on TV all the time during the Halloween season. I remember watching a block of old zombie movies one year, and in between two of the films a short film was shown called "Night of the Living Bread." The movie is obviously a parody of George Romero's Night of the Living Dead, only instead of zombies it's slices of bread attacking people. It does a great job of recreating the style of Romero's classic film.

I thought it was the funniest damn thing! I had never really seen anything like it before at the time. You have to remember, though, this was in the early '90s, and the internet was something that not a lot of people had in their homes at the time. So it's not like I was watching this kind of stuff online all the time like I do now.

I was making a sandwich recently, and this "Night of the Living Bread" movie just happened to pop into my head and I said to myself, "That's got to be on the internet!" I looked it up, and lo and behold, there it was. It was super fun to watch again after all these years.

The movie was directed by Kevin S. O'Brien, and I hope you enjoy the show!

Scarlett Johansson Opens Up about the Possibility of a BLACK WIDOW Solo Film

There's been talk about doing a Black Widow solo film for years. Everyone involved with the franchise has weighed in on it over the years, and it's something that Marvel Studios has been considering. Nothing has officially been put into development, but one day it could happen.

In a recent interview with Variety, Scarlett Johansson opened up and talked about the possibility of a Black Widow solo movie, saying:

"I would like for it to happen under the right circumstances. I think there’s a lot of opportunity to mine that story line. She’s got a really rich origins story. There’s a lot of places you can go — you can bring it back to Russia. You could explore the Widow program. There’s all kinds of stuff that you could do with it. You could really uncover the identity of who this person is, where she comes from and where she’s part of."

The actress went on to talk about the direction of the story and if it could be a prequel:

"It’s a possibility. There’s plenty of back story. Or not. It could be something else. Where do the Avengers go? They are underground. What happens then? What happens after it all falls apart? There are so many ways you can go. I think it would just have to be very much like its own specific thing. It would have to have its own specific vibe. It would have been totally different than any of the other standalone films. I think if the fans wanted it enough, then it would probably become a reality."

I think the fans have proved that they want it enough. They are talking about it all the time, and a Black Widow movie continues to be a hot topic of discussion. The question here is, does Marvel Studios want it enough?! She revealed that she has been talking to them about it:

"Yeah, of course. I talk to them about it often. It would have to fit in the idea of where they want to go. I’m invested in that character. Marvel is greatly invested in that character. If I did it, I’d have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight catsuit. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to be."

At least they are all talking about it, which means all parties are interested. Hopefully, they are able to come together to make it happen sometime in the near future!

STAR WARS Fans Launch Petition for Lucasfilm to Make an OLD REPUBLIC Netflix Series

$

With all of the Star Wars films currently in development, the popular franchise is on its way to being full swing. At some point, Lucasfilm has got to start making Star Wars TV series just like Marvel is doing. I just assumed they would kind of follow that same model of making both movies and series for fans to enjoy.

George Lucas developed one called Star Wars: Underworld, which already has a bunch of completed scripts. Now there's a fan petition asking Lucasfilm and Disney to make a Netflix series based on the hit game Star Wars: The Old Republic

A new cinematic trailer for the game was recently released, which was absolutely stunning. If you haven't seen it, make sure to click here. Here is what the petition says:

It's no surprise to anyone that the Star Wars franchise has experienced a massive resurgence lately, with The Force Awakens released last year and this year with the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  However, it's about time that the stories from over 3,000 years before the Battle of Yavin be told to both new and old fans of the franchise.
The Knights of the Republic series of games as well as the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic serve as the main vehicles to tell stories of characters such as Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Bastila Shan, Darth Traya, Meetra Surik, Darth Malgus, Satele Shan, and the list goes on.  The popularity of this era in Star Wars history is felt throughout the fanbase, and I feel it would do a massive disservice to us if these stories weren't told.
Why Netflix was chosen was because of the wealth of great content they have produced over the years, such as Narcos, House of Cards, and especially everything that Marvel has done and is still currently working on.  Not only that, but Netflix can serve as a platform to tell these stories as they were meant to be portrayed: dark, foreboding, and a touch on the mature side.  This can also give us fans our healthy dose of Star Wars while we're waiting on the new movies or the new season of Star Wars Rebels.
The Old Republic era is a pivotal point in the Star Wars timeline because that's where everything changed, from the Jedi Civil War and the fall of Revan, the First Jedi Purge, and an omnipresent darkness that not only watched the chaos from afar but also kick-started the downfall.  Our fanbase would love to see this on Netflix, and I feel that you would enjoy creating and adapting these stories as much as we would enjoy watching them.

If you want to sign the petition make sure to click here. I'd absolutely love to see this happen! I'm not going to say it never will because it very well could! The reinvigoration of the Star Wars franchise is still in its infancy, so as it grows so will the type of films and series that we see.

Mondo Reveals Their BATMAN: RED RAIN Statue

Mondo recently revealed their Batman: Red Rain statue, and this thing is so wickedly cool! I've always loved this vampire version of the Dark Knight, and this statue is a radical representation of the character. It has such an awesomely creepy look, and it makes for a perfect Halloween release.

Batman Red Rain is a DC Comics Elseworlds tale, in which the Dark Knight battles the infamous Dracula, ultimately becomes a vampire himself in the process. Inspired by Francesco Francavilla’s poster of the same name, the Batman: Red Rain statue depicts Batman as a vampire stalking the night and hunting his own kind, while attempting to stave off his own hunger for blood.
Incorporating elements from the poster, such as a tombstone from Batman’s past and slain vampire skulls, this statue brings the dark beauty of the two dimensional art into the horrific third dimension! The Mondo Exclusive also features an interchangeable right arm, holding a wooden stake!

The statue will cost you $250, and you can order it here if you're interested.
