Heart-Pounding Trailer for Brad Pitt's WWII Spy Thriller ALLIED

I'm a big fan of Robert Zemeckis and the films he has made over the years. His latest movie is a World War II spy thriller called Allied, which stars Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard. We have a great new trailer for you to check out, and it looks like it's going to be an intense movie.

The film tells the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), "who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war."

Zemeckis is a powerful storyteller, and I love what I'm seeing in this trailer. It delivers a heart-pounding punch, and it looks like he has made another fantastic film. I also love a good spy thriller so I'm pretty excited about this movie.

Allied hits theaters on November 23rd.

Action movie lovers, there's a new film for you on the way, and it looks pretty damn good! Jamie Foxx is starring in Sleepless, which tells the tale of an undercover cop caught up in corruption when his son is kidnapped by desperate gangsters. T.I., Michelle Monaghan, and Scoot McNairy are also in tow for this movie that's giving me some serious John Wick vibes! I don't know if it's the way it's shot or the use of neon, but I'm liking what I see in this film so far.

Sleepless is set to be released February 4th, 2017. Thanks to Coming Soon for letting us know about the trailer.

Bruce Campbell Says He's Down For Five Seasons of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD

Bruce Campbell said he's willing to treat Evil Dead fans to five seasons of Ash Vs. Evil Dead. Comicbook spoke with the star/executive producer of the show and asked how long he's willing to stick with the series:

"I'll take five! I'll take five seasons of this. Give the fans a big boost of the material; they'll have 25 fresh hours of the show after this, after we're done [with five seasons], and that's like making 12 movies!"

You can't argue with that! When you're on a premium channel, you might as well be watching a movie with the budget they give you! Campbell also had this to say about Ash and his experience with the role:

"He's officially the best character that I've ever played, and it's one that I'm going to investigate and explore until they tell me I can't do it anymore...I find Ash, with all of his flaws, all his foibles, all his mistakes, so wonderfully human that it's hard for me to relate to super hero movies."

I've heard nothing but good things about the show and I like the films, so maybe now is the time to check out season 1 on Blu-ray. You can catch season 2 currently airing on Starz.

Diehard DC Films fans said that the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice extended edition was superior to Warner Bros.' theatrical cut, and now we'll have the chance to see if the same is true for Suicide Squad. The studio just announced that an extended cut of David Ayer's film is on the way, boasting thirteen minutes of footage not seen in theaters. What would make you happy to see in that extra time? More Joker? More fleshing out of the characters? A better sense of connectivity between scenes? Let us know in the comments.

The extended cut will arrive on Digital HD on November 11th and will hit Blu-ray on December 13, 2016.

Review: SHIN GODZILLA Plays Out Like a Humorous Political Thriller Written By Arron Sorkin

When I first heard that Toho was making another Godzilla movie, I was ecstatic! I grew up watching the old Godzilla movies, and after Legendary Pictures made their Americanized version, I was happy to see Toho, who created the franchise, start development on their 29th Godzilla movie, Shin Godzilla. I was even more excited when I saw the new Godzilla design and the trailers showing the creature destroying Tokyo.

I recently had the opportunity to attend the West Coast premiere of the film and I absolutely loved it, but not in the way I was expecting to love it. I was expecting to see a lot of Godzilla action with the giant monster destroying the cities while the military attacked it, and maybe even see Godzilla battling other monsters — but that wasn’t the case at all. I did see those things, but not as much as I was expecting. Trust me, this isn't a bad thing!

The majority of the film centers on the Japanese government trying to figure out how to take out Godzilla and stop him from completely destroying Tokyo. This movie played out more like a humorous political thriller and as I was watching it, I kept thinking that the film had a very Aaron Sorkin kind of vibe and style to it.

This was a very heavily dialogue-fueled film and it was it was all done in a quick, fast-paced, and witty style. Everything was moving quickly and there were lots of things happening at once. The film was also full of interesting quirky characters, and there was a good amount of political commentary on how governments are run, which was probably the most amusing aspect of the film.

Here you have a giant creature crawl out of the ocean to attack Japan and there is so much red tape to go through in the government, they can’t do anything about. You have a big government committee going to meeting after meeting after meeting, trying to get approval on certain things before they can pull the trigger on taking out this giant creature destroying their city. It’s a comedic yet dramatic take on the ridiculousness of it all. Japan is being wiped out, yet all the rules they have in place don’t allow them to act fast enough to stop it.

Of course, as they attempt to stop Godzilla, there is a lot of trial and error. Once a plan is approved, it doesn't work or play out the way they had hoped. They eventually have to enlist the help of the U.S. to help destroy it, which leads to some scary decisions that have to be made.

Then there’s Godzilla. This was such an incredibly awesome new version of the giant monster. Throughout the course of the film, we get to see him evolve from a strange googly-eyed looking thing to the epic nuclear beast that he becomes. I think this is the most sinister and terrifying-looking Godzilla that we’ve seen yet and it’s probably the most deadly due to its insane upgraded nuclear death ray powers. I also loved that they used practical effects to bring this thing to life! Some people may find it a bit cheesy — especially the early version of the monster — but it's all part of the charm of what makes Godzilla, Godzilla!

There’s so much more that goes into telling this story, but I don’t want to spoil the movie for you because it’s truly an incredibly fun film that needs to be experienced. I’m curious to see what hardcore Godzilla fans will think of it because it’s not your typical Godzilla movie. This one tried to be something different, and that’s what I loved about it!

THE WARDED MAN Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Getting a Film Adaptation

Fans of Peter V. Brett's Demon Cycle series, rejoice: Variety reports that The Warded Man, the first novel in the series, is getting a film adaptation. Here's the synopsis from Amazon:

As darkness falls after sunset, the corelings rise—demons who possess supernatural powers and burn with a consuming hatred of humanity. For hundreds of years the demons have terrorized the night, slowly culling the human herd that shelters behind magical wards—symbols of power whose origins are lost in myth and whose protection is terrifyingly fragile. It was not always this way. Once, men and women battled the corelings on equal terms, but those days are gone. Night by night the demons grow stronger, while human numbers dwindle under their relentless assault. Now, with hope for the future fading, three young survivors of vicious demon attacks will dare the impossible, stepping beyond the crumbling safety of the wards to risk everything in a desperate quest to regain the secrets of the past. Together, they will stand against the night.

The premise sounds like it could make for a kind of cool movie, but there's also the potential for this to easily turn into a cheap-looking YA-style film if it isn't handled properly. Brett himself is writing the screenplay, though no director has been attached at this stage.

Have you read the book? Do you think this sounds up your alley? Let us know below.

Evan Peters Talks About Accidentally Showing Jessica Lange His Junk on AMERICAN HORROR STORY Set

Apparently, there's just as much horror off screen as there is on in American Horror Story! Evan Peters was on Conan recently, sharing an embarrassing moment he had with co-star Jessica Lange. Evan had never put on, as he calls it, a "cock sock," and accidentally left himself hanging right in front of her face as they filmed a scene!

Honestly, the most surprising part is Lange finished the scene without saying anything! Watch the clip below.

JACKIE Teaser Trailer: Natalie Portman Plays The Former First Lady in The Wake of JFK's Assassination

Update: The studio has sent over a high-res version of the poster, which you can find at the bottom of this article.

Fox Searchlight has debuted the first teaser trailer for Jackie, a new film in which Natalie Portman plays former First Lady Jackie Kennedy. This looks like a big awards contender, and Portman — who has already won for her work in Black Swan — looks like she gives a moving performance here. The film has been getting a lot of positive buzz on the festival circuit, and we'll get to see it when it arrives in limited theaters on December 2, 2016.

(I couldn't help but think of another Portman film, V For Vendetta, when I heard the rhyming poem being read over the shots in this teaser. The movies couldn't be more different...just an off-handed observation.)

What Happened to Poe Dameron After Crash Landing on Jakku? LEGO STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Has Answers

$

By now, it's been well-documented that Star Wars: The Force Awakens writers J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan originally intended for Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron to die near the beginning of the film. When Poe and Finn crash land in their TIE Fighter on the surface of Jakku, Finn (and the audience) thinks that Poe has met his doom...until the hotshot pilot and his badass team come flying in to kick some ass above Maz Kanata's castle later in the movie.

But what was Poe doing during that time when he was off screen in the film? Expect every single question like that to be answered in some form of Star Wars-related content, whether in a comic book, a TV show, or a game, and in this case, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the answer in new DLC called "Poe's Quest For Survival." There's a trailer (via /Film) that shows us part of what went down, and fittingly, it looks like a classic western genre situation, only gussied up with blasters and hovering vehicles. Check it out below:

The Poe’s Quest for Survival Level Pack extends the adventure with a previously untold story that can only be played in LEGO® Star Wars™: The Force Awakens. Fans can now experience Poe Dameron’s journey back to the Resistance base after his daring escape from the First Order. While stranded on Jakku, Poe must locate a ship to get off the desert planet in an effort to find his way home. Playable characters and vehicles include: Naka Iit ™, Ohn Gosv ™, Poe Dameron ™ (Jakku), Strus Clan Leader ™, Strus Clan Raider ™, Strus Clan Speeder ™ (Full-size Vehicle) and Strus Clan Speeder ™ (Microfighter Vehicle).

This Life-Sized LEGO Version of Harley Quinn is Coming to New York Comic Con

Like most of the DC films of the past few years, Suicide Squad garnered a fairly divisive response from comic book movie fans. But one of the things that people largely agree about is that Margot Robbie was very well-cast as Harley Quinn, the Joker's psychotic bat-wielding girlfriend. Harley is one of the most popular characters in all of DC Entertainment, and now she's getting her own life-sized LEGO statue that will be on display at the Javits Convention Center for New York Comic Con this weekend.

THR brings the news and has the specs: this Harley is 5'3'', weighs 63 pounds, and consists of 12,789 bricks. It took 120 hours to design and build. What do you think?

X-MEN's Nicholas Hoult To Play Nikola Tesla in THE CURRENT WAR

$

0

The Current War has been in the works for quite some time, with Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov set to direct back in 2012 and now Me and Earl and The Dying Girl helmer Alfonso Gomez-Rajon lined up to lead the movie. The title doesn't refer to the battle we're fighting against terrorism or any other threat like that: it's actually about the war for direct vs. alternating current that was fought between Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, and Nikola Tesla back in the late 1800s.

Benedict Cumberbatch, once slated to play Westinghouse, will now play Edison in the film, while the role of Westinghouse will now go to Michael Shannon. And The Wrap reports that X-Men star Nicholas Hoult has nearly finalized his deal to play Tesla in the project. Hoult has been fine as Beast in the last few X-Men movies, and he did solid work in Mad Max: Fury Road. Cumberbatch facing off against Shannon sounds amazing, and a stellar performance from Hoult could be the icing on the cake.

Filming is scheduled to start in December, so I'd expect to see The Current War hit theaters sometime in late 2017.

I'm not normally a fan of people dressing up their pets in costumes, but this cat cosplay is too good not to share.

Fashionably Geek points us to a whole Instagram account called Cat Cosplay that does this stuff all the time, and while there are plenty of geeky homages to characters like Batman, The Flash, Jon Snow, Bucky Barnes, and many more there, one in particular struck me as being really impressive: these pics devoted to a feline cosplay of Evil Dead's Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell).

Here's What Wolverine is Up to in LOGAN, and Some Other Plot Details

$

Earlier this morning, the release of a new poster taught us that James Mangold's Wolverine 3 is now officially called Logan. The movie marks the last time Hugh Jackman will don the claws in a role he's been playing for sixteen years now, so interest is obviously pretty high at this point. Warning: spoilers ahead for those who don't want to know anything about the movie.

The Wrap has reported some plot details about the movie — some we knew from Mangold's script reveal and some that are new to us. Aside from saying that the movie is darker than any X-Men movie we've seen thus far and that it takes place in the future (which we've known for months), they dropped these tidbits:

Logan takes place in the year 2024...Old Man Logan is in full effect. Logan looks bad, and drinks a lot. For work, he drives a 2024 Chrysler 300 limo that looks modified in the front to look more futuristic. He’s sick, his powers are fading, and he heals much more slowly — and sometimes not at all.
We learned further details about the from an insider who said that the girl in the poster is a young mutant. In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.

That girl sounds an awful lot like X-23, who's been rumored to show up in this movie since back in April. The Wrap's report also says that Professor X is "old and not well," so much so that his powers are "unstable" and he often forgets who Logan is. Finally, they reveal that actor Stephen Merchant will be playing a mutant named Caliban, who helps Wolverine take care of Professor X. (Read more about that character from the comics here.) What do you think about these newly-revealed details?

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
