Cyclops Gets His Visor (and His Code Name) in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Deleted Scene

$

0

We've already seen the much-talked-about deleted scene from X-Men: Apocalypse in which some of the kid mutants visit the mall, and now Yahoo has a different scene that didn't make the final cut for us to check out. In this one, Tye Sheridan's Scott Summers receives his visor for the first time as a gift from Nicholas Hoult's Beast.

You can see Scott actually wearing this visor at the very end of the movie, but Bryan Singer and his team wisely decided to cut this moment out. The Cyclops line is just a little groan-inducing, and it's a pretty slow moment that more or less duplicates an earlier scene in the movie when Scott arrives at Xavier's and scorches the tree.

Be sure to check out the gag reel for the movie if you haven't seen it yet.

Watch: New Teaser Trailer For Netflix's LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS Series

Here's an interesting method of advertising: telling you NOT to watch something, in the hopes that you do it anyway. I haven't seen the old reverse psychology utilized in a while, so good on Netflix for mixing things up a bit with this new teaser for their upcoming TV adaptation of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

Patrick Warburton appears in character as Lemony Snicket, the narrator of the eight-episode season, and we hear a quick bit of dialogue from Neil Patrick Harris's Count Olof in the background before discovering the Friday the 13th release date for the show, which arrives on January 13, 2017. What do you think about this teaser?

A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tale of the orphaned children Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf, as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes, and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ death. The books have sold more than 65 million copies and have been translated into 43 languages. The epic series will be executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld, who will also direct a number of episodes, and Daniel Handler, legal, literary and social representative for Lemony Snicket. [Handler is actually the writer of the successful book series. — Ed.]

MOONRISE KINGDOM: Video Essay Pinpoints How Story Meets Style in Wes Anderson's Film

$

I'm a fan of Wes Anderson, but I have to admit that it gets a little tiresome watching video essays that concentrate so heavily on the director's distinct visual style. But this video, from Lessons from the Screenplay, is particularly refreshing because it barely touches on the visual aspects and instead dives into what we learn about Anderson's movie through the script itself. I only saw Moonrise Kingdom once, back when it was in theaters in 2012, and watching this makes me want to pop that movie in and revisit this world and its characters again as soon as I can.

Watch: Ian McShane and Patrick Wilson Fight Gun Runners in Modern Western THE HOLLOW POINT

$

Patrick Wilson isn't known for starring in westerns, but with last year's Bone Tomahawk and now a new film coming out called The Hollow Point, maybe he should continue to explore those kinds of roles. This movie puts him at odds with Deadwood star Ian McShane in a story of gun running over the border between the U.S. and Mexico, and there's also some kind of badass mega assassin played by John Leguizamo who's out to kill them. This looks like an excellent VOD rental to me.

This one arrives on December 16, 2016, going up against Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (good luck with that, guys).

THE FLASH Gets an Honest Trailer, and The CW Heroes Unite in Full Superhero Fight Club 2.0 Trailer

ScreenJunkies is back with their latest Honest Trailer, and this time they've set their sights on The Fastest Man Alive. Grant Gustin's The Flash is in the hot seat here, but they mostly take it easy on him because — twist! — it turns out they're big fans of the show. This is one of the more amusing entries they've done lately.

And while we're talking about The CW, the network has released the full Superhero Fight Club 2.0 clip online (we wrote about the abbreviated version of this scene the other day). These heroes will share the screen during the four-part crossover event this December, but in the meantime, get your fill of them fighting in their own version of the X-Men's Danger Room right here:

Disney's Live-Action MULAN Remake Will Cast a Chinese Actress, Slated To Hit Theaters in 2018

Disney first announced its interest in a live-action Mulan remake way back in March of last year, but now THR brings word that the film has a release date: November 2, 2018.

The good news: Disney is launching a global casting search for a Chinese actress to play the lead role. That's a refreshing change of pace when Hollywood seems content to whitewash parts left and right and trot out the excuse that they can only get movies greenlit if they have established stars in the leading roles.

Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek wrote the original spec script, and the studio has hired Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Avatar 2 and 3) to rewrite the film's screenplay into "a more nuanced and elaborate adaptation" which combines "the legendary Chinese ballad and the 1998 animated film." No director has been announced yet, so we'll keep you posted with more news at it comes in.

What do you think about a live-action Mulan remake?

Hugh Jackman Says We'll See Something From WOLVERINE 3 Within a Week and Talks About The Film's Different Tone

Wolverine 3 is sneaking up on us. The film is set to arrive in theaters in less than six months, but we haven't seen an official poster, trailer, or really any promotion beyond some chatter from the actors and James Mangold. The director recently promised that fans would "hear and see things very soon," and now star Hugh Jackman has narrowed that window considerably: he told ET (via THR) it'll only be a week or so before we get our first real look at the movie.

"We've finished shooting. I just saw [director] Jim Mangold today. He's editing away and finishing that. There's going to be some stuff coming out in the next week or so. That's all I'll say. I'm not good. I’m the kind of person who tells everybody everything. Basically it's going to be different. Very different in tone and hopefully to anything we've done."

At this point, it's all but confirmed that this movie will be a riff on the Old Man Logan comic book run, and there's been a lot of talk about how it's going to be rated R. There have been tons of rumors and pieces of speculation thrown out into the blogosphere over the past year or so, and we've touched on most of them here if you want to hear more about what might be happening with the project.

Wolverine 3 hits theaters on March 3, 2017.

New STAR WARS REBELS Clip Features a Young Wedge Antilles

new-star-wars-rebels-clip-features-a-young-wedge-antilles

Star Wars X-Wing pilot Wedge Antilles will make his debut on Star Wars Rebels in the next episode, which is titled “The Antilles Extraction.”  This is a younger version of the character from the original Star Wars films. I'm sure you all remember how bravely Wedge fought when he took on and survived the attack on the Death Star. He ended up becoming a respected veteran of Rogue Squadron.

This will give us some background of the character and establish a new canon for Wedge. As you might have expected, this is a different background story from the one he was given in the Expanded Universe. In this new version, Wedge is still a trainee pilot at the Imperial Academy. While there, he contacts the Rebel Alliance because he wants a way out.

The next episode of Star Wars Rebels is described as follows:

“Sabine goes undercover as a cadet in the Empire’s elite flight academy to help break out several young pilots wanting to defect to the rebellion.”

Wedge is voiced by Nathan Kress (iCarly, Into The Storm). When talking about Wedge's new backstory, showrunner Dave Filoni previously said:

"It’s kind of a fun thing. One of the biggest things and it may be the rain cloud in the room, but, every writer that comes on, they pitch I’d love to see this, I’d love to see that. What about Biggs? What about Porkins? You know and but you wanna be careful not to make it like the Celebrity Laugh-In show where celebrity guests are appearing. But we hadn’t had someone of that nature. Kind of like a pilot. We have a lot of Rebel pilots. And well maybe some of these guys crossover. So you get Wedge and you get Y-Wings, which is kind of showing us again that we’re building towards that New Hope moment where the Rebels seem to be structured in a different way than we were in the beginning of Star Wars Rebels, which is they were just a band on their own with very little communication to a major core. And I’ve said for a couple seasons now that they’re building towards a more Rebel Alliance. But at the point we started you didn’t have Alliance. You had ragtag groups spread throughout the galaxy that had different ideas about politics. But all they could agree on was the Empire’s bad. And you’ll see that as we go that some of those characters that you know more famously from the Rebellion start to come into play now from Star Wars Rebels ’cause they have to. And Wedge is just, you know, everybody loves Wedge, ’cause he somehow inexplicably survived all three films. So he gets a lot of fan love for that."

You'll get to see young Wedge in action on Saturday, October 8th. In the meantime, here's the clip!

Watch: Unsettling Trailer For Jordan Peele's Horror Film GET OUT

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Get Out, the new horror film written and directed by Jordan Peele. But don't let Jordan's Key & Peele history fool you — this looks like a dead serious horror thriller, and the trailer is incredibly unnerving. There's tons of amazing imagery in here, along with a set-up that seems ripe for social commentary and some super intense sequences. I think horror fans are really going to dig this.

Get Out arrives in theaters on February 24, 2017.

In Universal Pictures’ Get Out, a speculative thriller from Blumhouse (producers of The Visit, Insidious series and The Gift) and the mind of Jordan Peele, when a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate, he becomes ensnared in a more sinister real reason for the invitation.
Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, Sicario) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams, Girls), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy (Catherine Keener, Captain Phillips) and Dean (Bradley Whitford, The Cabin in the Woods).
At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.
Equal parts gripping thriller and provocative commentary, Get Out is written and directed by Peele (Key and Peele) and produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, as well as Sean McKittrick (Donnie Darko, The Box), Peele and Edward H. Hamm Jr. (The Box, Bad Words).  The film also stars Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men series), Milton “Lil Rel” Howery (The Carmichael Show), Betty Gabriel (The Purge: Election Year), Marcus Henderson (Pete’s Dragon) and Keith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton).

Christopher Walken and Robert De Niro Reteam for THE WAR WITH GRANDPA

Christopher Walken and Robert De Niro are set to star alongside each other again for the first time since the 1978 film The Deer Hunter. The film is a comedy called The War With Grandpa, which is set to be directed by Tim Hill, and they will join Eugene Levy, who's been cast in the film as well.

The War With Grandpa is based on a book by Robert Kimmel Smith, and it's about "a kid who reluctantly gives up his bedroom to accommodate his grandfather (De Niro), whom he loves but wants out of his room. The boy engages in a series of pranks meant to drive his grandpa out, but the old man is pretty wise to it and returns the volleys."

De Niro and Walken will play best friends in the film. It's pretty awesome that Walken and De Niro will share the screen again after all these years. I hope the movie turns out to be good! I'd hate to waste such an epic team of talent on a mediocre movie. It doesn't sound like they'll be playing a deadly game of Russian roulette this time around.

This SPIDER-MAN Action Figure Is Ridiculously Posable and It's Awesome!

this-spider-man-action-figure-is-ridiculously-posable

Revoltech has produced the greatest Spider-Man action figure of all time, and it's possibly the most posable figure ever made. One of the things that makes Spider-Man so cool is the crazy poses that he pulls off in the Marvel comic art and films, but we've never had an action figure that allows him to do some of those ridiculously cool poses... until now.

The details for the Revoltech Spider-Man come from Toy Ark, and the fully articulated figure stands a little over six inches tall. It also comes with an assortment of interchangeable expressive eyes and numerous hands. It will also feature various webbing lines and effects, and a clasp to mount the figure on a vertical surface.

The figure is scheduled to be released in in January 2017 and will be sold for around $62. You can see exactly how posable the figure is in the photos below!

Even though I'm extremely excited about Lucasfilm's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the poster art has been pretty disappointing. Today we have a new Russian poster to share with you for the film and it looks like someone actually gave it a little effort and thought. I especially like the shadow of the rebel helmet in the water.

I also included a series of Topps trading card art featuring various characters including Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), and Darth Vader (James Earl Jones).

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on December 16th, 2016

Two Cops Battle a Monster in Horror Comedy Short BUNDLE OF NERVES

With Halloween upon us, I'm going to start looking for and posting some horror film shorts. I've got a great one for you today called "Bundle of Nerves." The horror comedy short just jumps right into the story, which is about two cops who find themselves fighting for their lives against some kind of crazy creature from another world. Here's the brief synopsis for the film:

For the fine officers of the Willowbrook police department, fighting a slime-sucking monster from the great beyond is just another day on the job. It's the relationship stuff at home that's really scary.

The short was directed by Ryan Spindell, and he did a great job with bringing this little story to life. It's a really fun and amusing film that I think you'll all enjoy.

Star-Lord Rumored to Have a Major Role in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

star-lord-rumored-to-have-a-major-role-in-avengers-infinity-war1

We already knew that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy would appear in Avengers: Infinity War to help the Avengers in their battle against Thanos. I assumed if they were bringing in this team they would play a sizable role in the story. All it takes is common sense to realize that you don’t include these characters and not utilize them to their fullest potential.

Well, Schmoes Know is reporting that Star-Lord will have a  “sizable” role in the film as he helps the Avengers in their effort to save the universe from the Mad Titan. They go on to say that he will be the first of the Guardians of appear. If he has a decent-sized role in the film, then he obviously will play an important part of the story.

Maybe he’s the one that comes to Earth to warn The Avengers that Thanos is coming or planning a massive chaotic attack? However he comes into play, I’m just excited to see him and his team fight alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes!

Joe and Anthony Russo are currently prepping to shoot the film, and they’ve already started working with Josh Brolin, who is playing Thanos. We recently posted some possible story info about the film. The story they are developing reportedly comes from Marvel Comic's 1990 crossover series Infinity Gauntlet. You can read information on that below if you don’t might any potential spoilers.

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War will feature the Mad Titan Thanos trying to impress the personification of Death (who will be a woman). Thanos assembles all six Infinity Stones and utilizes the Gauntlet to have god-like powers. His grand plan is that Death will also feel love for him if he brings her enough "souls," so he decides to extinguish half the life in the universe to impress her.
Death - the personification of death - is going to be in Avengers: Infinity War. Previous fan rumors have noticed that Cate Blanchett's Hela could substitute for the Death character in the comics, and what we've learned doesn't prove or disprove this theory. We can only confirm that Death is in the movie and is female.

New DOCTOR STRANGE TV Spot Seemingly Teases the Time Stone

Marvel has released an intriguing new TV spot for Doctor Strange that bends time. It seems to confirm fan speculation that the Eye of Agamotto that the Sorcerer Supreme wields is the Time Stone, which is one of two Infinity Stones that haven't been introduced into the MCU yet. So it looks like Strange will be manipulating time in the film. If this is the case, there is one other stone that has yet to be revealed, and that is the Soul Stone. Check out the spot below and let us know if you think Strange wields the Time Stone.

From Marvel comes DOCTOR STRANGE, the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place – a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange – armed with newly acquired magical powers – is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying, and totally mind-bending journey.

The movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdamsMichael StuhlbargScott Adkins, and Amy Landecker. The film was directed byScott Derrickson from a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) and C. Robert Cargill (Sinister). Doctor Strange is set to be released on November 4th.

Emotional Trailer for Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg's PATRIOTS DAY

Director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg have teamed up for another film project, and this time they will tell the harrowing story of the 2013 bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The movie is called Patriots Day, and today we have the first emotional trailer for you to watch.

The movie features an impressive supporting cast that includes Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, and Michell Monaghan. Here's the official synopsis:

In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.

Berg and Wahlberg most recently worked on the film Deepwater Horizon, which is a great film that you have to see if you haven't already. It's incredibly intense! These two talents tend to make great movies together, so I'm sure Patriots Day is going to turn out to be a great and powerful film.

It's set to open in theaters in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21st and will then get a wide release on January 13th. They're obviously hoping to get some Oscar love.

WOLVERINE 3 Is Titled LOGAN; Plus a Teaser Poster and Details From a Script Page

wolverine-3-is-titled-logan-there-is-also-a-teaser-poster-and-details-from-a-script-page

We've got some big Wolverine 3 news for you today! Hugh Jackman has posted a photo of a billboard for the film that reveals that the title of the movie is Logan. The teaser poster features Logan's hand holding the hand of a little girl. A lot of people may speculate that the girl is Laura Kinney, a.k.a. X-23, who has been rumored to be in the film and may possibly be the character to replace Wolverine in the X-Men cinematic universe.

Then director James Mangold posted a page from Logan on his Twitter feed, and it reveals some interesting information about the film.

As you will see from this script page, this is going to be extremely hardcore. We already knew the film would get an R-rating, but seeing this script page drives the point home. It starts out with Logan saying "Fuck" and then describes the kind of violence that the film will entail, and they aren't going to hold back. It's made very clear that people will die brutally and that Wolverine is a character we should be worried about because he's older and his abilities aren't what they used to be. Basically, Wolverine could die in this movie if that's the direction they decided to go. Then the script page concludes with a fight scene involving a drunk Logan and a group of bangers.

Check it out:

Pretty cool, huh? It's looking like this really will be the best Wolverine movie yet! The film also stars Patrick Stewart, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal, and Elizabeth Rodriguez. Logan will slash its way into theaters on March 3rd, 2017.
