New Honest Trailer Slams TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS

The ScreenJunkies team is back with the newest installment of their Honest Trailer series, and this time they're putting the smack down on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. I'm normally not a big fan of these videos, but I think this one is actually pretty solid. They make some good points here and seem to put a little more effort into the jokes than usual, so check it out and let us know if you think they're too harsh or if they're right on the money.

STRANGER THINGS: Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio) and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) Meet in Fun Video

Since the day Stranger Things premiered on Netflix, people have pointed out the similarities between actor Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington on the show, and Ben Schwartz, who played Jean-Ralphio Saperstein on one of the greatest shows ever, Parks and Recreation. Because they both look similar and have wild hair, fan theories sprouted up claiming both shows share a universe and Steve Harrington is actually Jean-Ralphio's real father. Schwartz himself addressed this recently, but things got real in a new video the actor posted to his Instagram.

Dad and son meet because the Internet. @uncle_jezzy @strangerthingstv #strangertwins

A video posted by Ben Schwartz (@rejectedjokes) on

I always wrote off the fan theory as originating because of the hair alone, but seeing them next to each other, it's crazy how much they look alike! They have like the exact same facial expression here. Uncanny.

Depending on who you believe, Stranger Things season 2 is either already filming, or getting ready to film very soon. Be sure to check out my piece about the musical talents of the cast right here if you haven't yet.

Nightmarish Promo for SyFy's Creepypasta Horror Anthology Series CHANNEL ZERO

The SyFy Channel has a great-looking horror anthology series coming out called Channel Zero, which is based on the Creepypasta story "Candle Cove." Creepypasta is a user-generated site in which horror stories are published and spread across the internet. We have a promo spot for you to watch today that is fantastically creepy. This is the stuff nightmares are made of!

Candle Cove centers on one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s, and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.

SyFy offers additional information on the main character in the series, Mike Painter, who is played by Paul Schneider.

A child psychologist, Mike Painter was a child himself when he witnessed the mysterious disappearance of his twin brother, Eddie, and four other children from their small town, Iron Hill, in 1988. Decades later, he is compelled to return to his hometown to investigate what really happened all those years ago, only to find that it – whatever it was – may be happening all over again.

After watching the promo spot below I was completely sold on the series, and I'm excited to watch it! The story seems like it could have been inspired by Stephen King's It, only instead of a sinister clown, it's evil puppets.

The series premieres on October 11th. I hope you enjoy the spot!

Square Enix Unveiled Their Wicked Batman and Joker Mashup Action Figure

Square Enix has released a series of photos showing off their latest action figure in their Play Arts Kai Batman: Rogues Gallery series. It's an insanely wicked combination of The Joker and Batman and it's called the DC Variant Rogues Gallery Joker Batman Figure.

Square Enix is doing some incredibly cool things with the action figures they produce. They are being inventive and seem to be having a lot of fun creating these figures. Here's the official description of the Batman Joker figure:

The DC Comics Variant Play Arts KAI line announces its latest collection: the BATMAN™: Rogues Gallery series! This mashup of Batman’s classic silhouette with the beloved villains of his Rogues Gallery results in a never-before-seen design collaboration – East meets West, Good meets Evil.

The Joker, Batman’s greatest and most evil villain, enters the Rogues Gallery series!

A tattered straitjacket is erratically adorned with dynamite, a flower, cans of pepper spray, and an alarm clock. Combined with his playing cards and a pistol with a flag as interchangeable parts, this ensemble shows the character’s madness, oozing from within.

The pale skin and bloodshot eyes accentuate his eerie quality, while his trademark purple and green lend dark shadows to his coloring. The bat mark roughly painted on his chest can almost be construed as a laughing mouth. It seems to make a mockery of Batman, offering a glimpse into how The Joker’s twisted mind ticks.

You can pre-order the figure directly from Square Enix by clicking here. It’s priced at $199.99. It’s scheduled for release in March 2017.

JESSICA JONES Showrunner Explains How DEXTER Is Helping Her Develop Season 2

0
0

In a recent interview with Esquire, Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg talked about her plans for season two and how she is using the lessons she learned while working on Dexter in moving the character forward. She explained:

"She was kind of messed up even before Kilgrave came along, and so in season two we can explore what's possible for her moving forward."

One thing we should not expect to see is Jessica going through a healing process or getting better from the traumatic events of her life. Rosenberg talked about Dexter's influence on the series, saying:

"I learned from working on Dexter that you can advance the character, but you never want to cure the character. With Dexter, the moment he felt guilt or accepted that he was 'bad,' the show's over. He's no longer a sociopath. The equivalent for us would be if Jessica somehow recovered from the damage that had been done to her. People don't just heal, you don't go through that just to say, 'Oh, he got arrested, he's in jail, I'm OK now. ' That trauma is a huge part of who she is now."

This is the only way they could really properly handle Jessica Jones. Her pain, damage, and past are a part of her. If that goes away Jones ceases to be the interesting character that she is.

The report goes on to say that Rosenberg and her writing team are halfway through the writing process on season two, which won't premiere until after The Defenders is released. She's been collaborating with the writers of The Defenders to make sure Jessica Jones is handled in the right way.

I can't wait to see what Marvel and Rosenberg are planning for season two.

Watch Ghost Rider Fight Quake in AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Clip and TV Spot for Episode 2

Did you see last night's premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four?! I haven't been that excited about the show since it first started. I felt the series was getting stale, and the addition of a character like Ghost Rider may be exactly what it needed. We'll just have to wait and see how the rest of the season plays out to see if it actually works. I personally really liked what they ended up doing with this version of the character. After the premiere aired, Marvel revealed a brief clip from it of Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) fighting Quake (Chloe Bennet). I also included a promo spot for the upcoming second episode, "Meet the New Boss," and it comes with this brief synopsis:

Daisy goes to battle Ghost Rider at a terrible cost, and Coulson faces the new Director, and his bold agenda surprises them all

What did you all think of the season four premiere? Do you like where Marvel is taking the series? Do you like what they are doing with Ghost Rider? Let us know in the comments below!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Tuesdays on ABC.

In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack, and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy, aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past. But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good. Agent May is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz and Simmons have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director n Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.

Rumored AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Plot Details Follow the "Infinity Gauntlet" Comic Story Arc

0
0

Some rumored plot details for Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War have surfaced. The two filmmakers are still in the process of developing the film, but this latest information tells us that the story they are developing comes from the Marvel Comic's 1990 crossover series Infinity Gauntlet

This is the storyline I hoped that Marvel and the creative team behind the film would go with because it involves Thanos causing complete and utter chaos and destruction to impress Death. If you aren't familiar with the story, and you don't want to know the details of the story arc, then I suggest you stop reading now because there are possible spoilers ahead:

Here's a breakdown of the story from the LRM, which is where this rumor originated:

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War will feature the Mad Titan Thanos trying to impress the personification of Death (who will be a woman). Thanos assembles all six Infinity Stones and utilizes the Gauntlet to have god-like powers. His grand plan is that Death will also feel love for him if he brings her enough "souls," so he decides to extinguish half the life in the universe to impress her.
Death - the personification of death - is going to be in Avengers: Infinity War. Previous fan rumors have noticed that Cate Blanchett's Hela could substitute for the Death character in the comics, and what we've learned doesn't prove or disprove this theory. We can only confirm that Death is in the movie and is female.

The Russos have said that are considering every option for which characters they will use in the film. We know several members of the Avengers will be there fighting alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. Nick Fury is also supposed to make his big return to the MCU in Infinity War, and since the Russos are considering everyone, there's a chance that The Defenders could show up as well.

Infinity War goes into production in November in Atlanta, and we've already seen a photo of Josh Brolin rehearsing and doing some performance capture work as Thanos. To catch up on all of our previous news on the film, click here.

Avengers: Infinity War is set to hit theaters on May 4th 2018.

Video Explores SHERLOCK's Use of Symmetry

0
0

Because of the show's unusual air dates and length of episodes, I feel like Sherlock is a series that's becoming harder and harder to feel as if the audience is having a normal viewing experience when we watch it. It doesn't seem to command the cultural discussion in the same way more traditional shows do, even though it often operates on a higher quality level than a lot of things on television. But I suppose that's part of what makes it special, and burning through those 90-minute episodes is a joy every time new ones pop up.

One of the areas for which the show has always been properly praised, though, has been its cinematography. It's truly a beautifully shot series, and in this quick video essay from Celia Gomez (via LaughingSquid), the editor showcases the directors' excellent use of symmetry, which often serves as a visual way to level the playing field between Sherlock and his adversaries. Season 4 is supposed to debut sometime next year.

The Tall Man Returns One Last Time in the Trailer for PHANTASM: RAVAGER

0
0

Phantasm: Ravager is the fifth and supposedly final film in the classic Phantasm horror franchise. Today we have a fun trailer for the movie, which comes from director David Hartman and writer Don Coscarelli, who wrote and directed the original Phantasm movie back in 1979. When talking about the film in an interview with EW, Coscarelli said:

“It’s a swan song to the series. There’s some new iterations of those brain-shucking spheres and a lot of good stuff that the fans will enjoy. It ties up a lot of the storylines and answers some questions that fans have had.”

The movie reunites Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, and the Tall Man himself Angus Scrimm, who passed away earlier this year. They all starred in the original movie in which the characters Mike, Jody, and Reggie attempt to stop the Tall Man from transforming corpses into dwarf zombies, a plan that he carries out with the help of his collection of deadly spheres.

Phantasm: Ravager looks like it will be an epic end to this entertaining horror franchise. The Tall Man is an iconic horror character, and I'm sure Scrimm was happy to make this final film before he passed away.

The film will premiere on September 25th at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.

DC Fans Start Petition For Shia LaBeouf to Play Red Hood in The DCEU

dc-fans-start-petition-for-shia-labeouf-to-play-red-hood-in-the-dceu44

It's been rumored in the past that Jason Todd, a.k.a. Robin, a.k.a. The Red Hood, could be included in the upcoming Batman solo film, but there's been no confirmation of that. Todd did exist in the DCEU because the Joker killed him, but there's no guarantee that he will show up as the Red Hood in the Batman solo film or any other film in the DCEU. Is it possible? Yeah, of course it is!

In case Jason Todd/Red Hood does eventually make his big screen debut, there's a group of DC fans who have started a petition to get Warner Bros. to consider casting Shia LaBeouf in the role. The online petition was launched at Change.org, and it's slowly gaining traction.

We all know a petition like this won't influence the studio's decision on who they will cast, but it certainly will get the fans talking about who they would like to see in the role. Here is a list of reasons posted with the petition that explains why they think LaBeouf would be the best choice for the part:

  • Shia Labeouf is willing to go the distance to be the best that his character can be in recent films
  • It's an opportunity for him to show the world what an amazing actor he can truly be if you Just give him a chance to be this character
  • Help him get from one of the most looked down upon actors in Hollywood to one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood because of this role
  • Ben Affleck was hated by so many people because he was cast as Batman and now he is loved by many after they say what an amazing performance Ben Affleck could do as Batman
  • Shia Labeouf is truly one of the most talented actors in Hollywood if you have seen his recent films
  • If you know the character Jason Todd aka Red Hood and if you know Shia Labeouf then you can see how similar they are and how perfect this casting choice is for Shia Labeouf

I think LaBeouf would be great! He was originally supposed to appear in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, but apparently the studio thought he was too crazy. I doubt the studio has changed their mind about the actor.

What do you think about LaBeouf in the role of the Red Hood? Do you think he is a solid choice? If not, who would you like to see take on the role?

Sylvester Stallone Shares Previously Unseen Photos From ROCKY IV Set

November 24th is the 40th anniversary of Rocky. Sylvester Stallone is adamant about getting the word out about that (nearly two months ahead of time), so he showed off some rare photos from the set of Rocky IV. Stallone uploaded the pictures to Instagram, which you can see below. I honestly forgot how jacked he was for that film and it's kind of crazy how young Dolph Lundgren looks in that second picture!

Josh Gad To Star in Amazon Series Focusing on '80s Toy War Between Hasbro and Mattel

0
0

If you clicked on this post thinking Josh Gad was joining an Amazon show where Mr. Potato Head and Barbie would come to blows, you're not alone. While that would be awesome, this series will feature the actual commercial toy war between Hasbro and Mattel in the '80s and '90s.

According to Deadline, Gad will co-write the series alongside Josh Schwartz, while Seth Gordon will serve as director. The series will follow Alan Hassenfeld, who is thrust into the spotlight as Hasbro's CEO after his brother dies of AIDS. It's based on a book written by G. Wayne Miller, who had unprecedented access to Hasbro business in the '80s. The book features many real-life executives of Hasbro, including writer Josh Schwartz's father Stephen. There's also mention of people like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg making appearances in the novel.

Mainly, I think it'll be cool to see what it was like to be in the toy industry during what many would say was the height of action figures and games of that sort. Can't wait to see a trailer!

Nike Reveals Their BACK TO THE FUTURE-Inspired Power Lacing Shoes — HyperAdapt

Back in 1989, the world was introduced to the Nike Mag in Back to the Future Part II, a fictional futuristic shoe that had power laces. Every kid from the '80s wanted a pair and now, 27 years later, Nike actually has a sneaker with power laces! It's called the HyperAdapt 1.0, and of course, I want a pair!

Wired released the first photos of the shoe as well as a video showing us the shoe in action. Lead creator Tiffany Beers explains how she and her team made this a reality and also talks about all the different features of the great-looking shoe.

The shoes have lights that tell you when the battery life is low and they come with a magnetic dock that you can charge them with. We live in exciting times, my friends, and now all we need is for hoverboards to be perfected and mass produced.

BAD SANTA 2 Gets a Filthy New Red-Band Trailer

0
0

Here's the latest red-band trailer for Bad Santa 2, and this trailer is ten times filthier than the one before it. It seems like the writers were just trying to come up with the most foul stuff they could think of to try to be "edgy," but they forgot to put the fun stuff in there. I haven't seen the first movie in years, but I remember there being at least a little bit of lightheartedness to it. This just looks oppressive, dirty, and not like a fun way to spend my time. I think I'm going to sit this one out. If this looks good to you, you'll be able to see it in theaters on November 23, 2016.

BAD SANTA 2 returns Academy Award®-winner BILLY BOB THORNTON to the screen as America's favorite anti-hero, Willie Soke. Fueled by cheap whiskey, greed and hatred, Willie teams up once again with his angry little sidekick, Marcus (TONY COX), to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. Along for the ride is 'the kid' - chubby and cheery Thurman Merman (BRETT KELLY), a 250-pound ray of sunshine who brings out Willie's sliver of humanity.
Mommy issues arise when the pair are joined by Academy Award®, Golden Globe and Emmy-winner KATHY BATES, as Willie's horror story of a mother, Sunny Soke. A super butch super bitch, Sunny raises the bar for the gang's ambitions, while somehow lowering the standards of criminal behavior. Willie is further burdened by lusting after the curvaceous and prim Diane, played by Emmy Award-nominee CHRISTINA HENDRICKS, the charity director with a heart of gold and libido of steel.

You better watch out: BAD SANTA 2 is coming to town.

Warning: This trailer is very NSFW.

John Hawkes Will Play a Las Vegas Superhero in New Amazon Pilot THE LEGEND OF MASTER LEGEND

0
0

John Hawkes is one of those guys whose name you might not know, but you've definitely seen his work. He's appeared in TV shows like DeadwoodLost, and Eastbound & Down, and a metric ton of solid movies, including his Oscar-nominated turn in Winter's Bone. He's a consistently enjoyable presence on screen, but he's often relegated to supporting cast territory and it's rare that he's the lead role in a project. But that's about to change...at least for one big upcoming creative endeavor.

Deadline reports that Hawkes has scored the lead in a new Amazon pilot called The Legend of Master Legend.

Written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster based on Joshuah Bearman’s Rolling Stone article about real-life superheroes, the project centers on Master Legend (Hawkes), a man who tries to defend justice and defeat wrongdoers on the Las Vegas Strip.

Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster are writer/producers for Amazon's successful show Transparent, a show on which the latter also plays the character "Francis." I'd be excited about the potential of this show based solely on the news that Hawkes was teaming up with these guys, but there's another excellent piece of the puzzle that gets me even more excited: James Ponsoldt is directing. He's the director of movies like Smashed, The Spectacular Now, The End of the Tour, and the upcoming The Circle, and he also directed two episodes of Aziz Ansari's Master of None for Netflix. Hopefully this pilot one makes it through Amazon's voting process and gets picked up for a full season run.
