Watch Jackie Chan's NINJAGO Character in Action in Clip From THE MASTER: A LEGO NINJAGO SHORT

Jackie Chan provides the voice of a character named Master Wu in the upcoming film The LEGO Ninjago Movie. We will get our first look at this character in action, though, in an animated short film called "The Master: A LEGO Ninjago Short." Today we have a clip from that short for you to watch featuring Master Wu getting into a ridiculous fight with a little chicken, and it's pretty amusing.

The short film is set to play before the animated film Storks, which hits theaters on September 23th. It "serves as a fighting introduction to the martial-arts prowess of Lego hero Master Wu. The character will be showcased next year as the wise (and wisecracking) leader of an all-Lego ninja crew in The Lego Ninjago Movie." Here's the synopsis for the feature film:

In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and LEGO Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power.

"The Master" premieres with Storks on September 22, 2017.

BOOSTER GOLD Film Will Not Be Part of the DC Movie Universe

Well here's some news that seems more positive than not given DC's recent movie outings. io9 is reporting that the announced Booster Gold film will not be part of the DC Movie Universe. Greg Berlanti (who is heading up the project that was initially pitched as a TV series) gives the official word:

"As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It’d be a separate thing."

This would make sense as Booster Gold is a man from the future who steals a super suit and time machine and travels to our time to be a great hero. Booster Gold is a bit too goofy for how serious the current DC movie universe is anyway, so I think that's best, but he would be great if he were a part of the TV universe!

I'm not sure what to think about this news. I've been a longtime Booster Gold fan, so obviously I'm psyched to see a film being made, but quite frankly, I liked the idea of a CW series a lot more. There's some complexity to the character that I don't think a film really does justice to. Not to mention I think he would be an awesome fit with the shows that are already on The CW.

Let's just hope they don't mess it up.

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT Gets a Hilarious Honest Trailer

With the new sequel Blair Witch coming out soon, Screen Junkies has released a hilarious Honest Trailer for The Blair Witch Project. They tear the movie apart, but I don't care what anyone says, I loved The Blair Witch Project. That movie was a genius concept that gave birth to the found footage genre. Then there was the amazing marketing that went into the film to spark interest by getting people to think it was all real, and it worked on a lot of people! I remember people trying to convince me that the footage in the movie was real. I look back on that stuff and it was a lot of fun. You can't effectively do that these days. Anyway, people can tear this movie apart all they want, but they can't deny the genius of it.

STRANGER THINGS' "Barb" Lands Minor Role in Melissa McCarthy Movie

The cult following of Shannon Purser, AKA Barb, in Stranger Things has been nothing short of baffling to me. Confusing as it is, THR says the #JusticeForBarb movement has landed the actress some roles. Purser will be appearing in a minor role in the upcoming Melissa McCarthy movie Life of the Party, as well as a couple episode stint on the upcoming Archie series on CW, Riverdale

I still don't understand the hype, but I'm happy for Purser and that such a small role has led to so much! Everyone gets a start somewhere, right? Hell, John Travolta got his start showering with other dudes (in a commercial, but still)...

Watch the First Full Episode of Donald Glover's ATLANTA Right Here

The first episode of Donald Glover's FX series Atlanta is officially on YouTube, and it looks pretty damn good! I didn't get a chance to watch it last night, but I just watched the first couple minutes and I'm hooked! Of course, I'm a fan of most of Glover's work as Childish Gambino and his writing on Mystery Team and 30 Rock. It seems weird to bring those up because they really are not at all similar to what you are about to watch, but trust me, it's good.

For those who watched the episode, what are your thoughts?

As a fan of the Underworld film franchise, I'm very excited about this next chapter in the story which is called Underworld: Blood Wars. Today we have the first trailer for the film and it looks like it's going to be a blast! If you're also a fan of these movies, then you're sure to like what you see in this trailer.

Kate Beckinsale returns to the franchise as Selene and she will be joined by Theo James as Selene’s ally David, Tobias Menzies as a formidable new Lycan leader, Lara Pulver as a fiercely ambitious Vampire, and Charles Dance returns to the role of Vampire elder Thomas. The film was directed by Anna Foerster (Criminal Minds, Outlander), who is also known for her cinematography work on films such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and White House Down. Here's the synopsis:

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (James) and his father Thomas (Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Underworld: Blood Wars is set to be released in theaters on January 6, 2017.

YouTuber Breaks Down How Steven Spielberg Constructs A Battle Scene

Saving Private Ryan is widely regarded as one of the best depictions of WWII on film. One might even go so far as to say it gives its audience a better feel of the invasion of Normandy than the actual footage that was shot there. This is mainly due to the fact that Steven Spielberg was not actually being shot at when he filmed the movie, whereas the surviving footage of the invasion are from photographers who survived the event and were either far away or hiding behind cover.

Nerdwriter really breaks down the brilliance of Spielberg as a director by explaining his shots, why the scene was shot the way it was, and the goal he was trying to accomplish in filming it that way. Essentially, it shows the brilliance required to direct a great movie.

Listen to all the work and thought that went into filming the masterpiece below.

COLLATERAL BEAUTY Trailer: Will Smith Meets Personifications of Death and Love

Here's the first trailer for Collateral Beauty, the newest film from director David Frankel (Marley & Me, The Devil Wears Prada) that has a stellar cast including Will Smith, Helen Mirren, Michael Pena, Edward Norton, and Keira Knightley. And I'm not crazy about the idea of judging on a movie solely on its trailer, but after watching this, let's just say it's going to be tough to convince me to pay to see this movie in a theater:

Again, the cast looks great, but the schmaltz factor may be a little too high for me to tolerate here. But for those looking for some nice family entertainment this holiday season and aren't excited about the idea of seeing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, here's an alternate option for you to check out on December 16, 2016.

James Franco is Back on Board THE GAME, A Film About "Pickup Artists"

Years ago, MGM acquired the film rights to Neil Strauss's best-selling book The Game, which chronicled his time spent in the underground society of so-called "pickup artists" — men who "trade the most devastatingly effective techniques ever invented to seduce women." By now, you've likely heard about a lot of these techniques — "negging," for example — and the entire thing is looked at by many as a sort of gross how-to guide for being a skuzzy douchebag.

Four or five years ago, James Franco was attached to star in a film version of The Game, but that project eventually fell apart. Now Deadline reports that he's back and ready to star and produce a new take on the movie, though no director or other cast members have been announced at this time. I'm really hoping Franco takes the approach of making fun of these guys instead of praising them, but the sad thing is that if their lifestyle is glamorized in any way, a lot of people won't realize it's satire or that he's poking fun — look no further than how stock brokers took the wrong lessons from Wall Street and The Wolf of Wall Street to see this phenomenon in action.

The budget is supposed to be somewhere between $15-20 million and production is being eyed to start in 2017, so we'll keep you posted as it moves forward.

The First Two Seasons of GALAVANT Are Now On Netflix

It's that time again. A beloved show that was cancelled has now found its way to Netflix, and it's up to its dedicated fans to binge and spread the word in hopes that it may find new life on the streaming platform. I heard a lot about Galavant in its short two season run, and like so many of you, I ignored it and it was taken off the air.

The good news is that the first two seasons are now on Netflix (at least in Canada and the US) and you can watch them to your heart's delight. I watched a couple clips and was surprised at the production quality, as well as the humor. Typically I'm not a big fan of musical comedies, but this one didn't seem bad at all!

The show follows a knight named Galavant who looks to reclaim his former glory after the love of his life was stolen by an evil king. The music in the series is provided by Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater, and I'm guessing if you know those names you probably were already watching.

I'm going to give this one a shot in the hopes it'll find a new life on Netflix. Is anyone reading this a fan of the show? Give us your pitch as to why the rest of us should check it out!

Rebecca Ferguson Enlists in THE GREATEST SHOWMAN Alongside Hugh Jackman

Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation breakout star Rebecca Ferguson has joined Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, and Zendaya as part of the cast for Jackman's longtime passion project musical The Greatest Showman. Formerly known as The Greatest Showman on Earth, the movie centers on P.T. Barnum (Jackman), the hoax master who created the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Variety says Ferguson (who is Swedish) will be playing Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind in the film. Lind was one of the world's greatest soprano singers, and Barnum invited her to be a part of his traveling show in the hopes of attracting a larger audience. She toured with him for a year between 1850 and 1851. From what little I've seen of Ferguson so far (she'll also appear in The Girl on The Train next month), she seems like a nice fit for this part and it should be interesting to hear if they use her actual voice or rely on dubbing to hit those epic opera notes.

Daniel Radcliffe and Zachary Quinto Uniting For Anonymous vs. Cartel Drama WE DO NOT FORGET

$

Daniel Radcliffe has built a fascinating career beyond the Harry Potter films, appearing in horror movies like The Woman in Black and things more completely off the wall like this year's Swiss Army Man, but let's get real — for a segment of the population, he'll never fully escape the legacy of playing The Boy Who Lived. Now Radcliffe will team up with another actor primarily known for one mainstream role: Zachary Quinto, who of course most people recognize as Mr. Spock in the Kelvin-verse Star Trek films. Deadline says that the two of them will star in a new movie called We Do Not Forget, and this one has a very interesting premise.

Written and directed by Stranger Than Fiction writer Zach Helm, the film will be a fictionalized version of a real conflict between the "hacktivist" group Anonymous and a Mexican drug cartel called Los Zetas. Deadline recounts some details about the actual events that occurred between the two groups:

In reports about the real skirmish, Anonymous reportedly uncovered 25,000 Mexican government emails that had the names of Zeta members and their business information. The organization threatened to make the documents public after one of its members was kidnapped by the cartel. The decision to take on the powerful cartel riled the members of Anonymous, internally, which is understandable given the level of violence attributed to the group. The cartel hired security experts to track down the hackers, promising death to any whose identity was uncovered. The hacking effort, which was called #OpCartel, was abandoned and some reports wondered how serious it all got.

I don't know about you, but I'm hooked. This should be a really interesting film, and it'll actually be the second time that Quinto will be involved with a real story like this; he appears as a journalist in Snowden this month. What do you think? Sound good to you?

James Gunn Answers His Most Frequently Asked Questions About GUARDIANS VOL. 2 and Beyond

Writer/director James Gunn is one of the most interactive directors working in Hollywood right now. He clearly loves his job and works incredibly hard at it, but he doesn't have the kind of personality a lot of directors have where they'll cut themselves off from the rest of the world while they're making a movie. As you probably know, Gunn is very active on social media, and if he's bored or has a few free minutes, he'll often answer questions from fans about his past, present, and future projects.

It seems he's been getting a ton of the same questions over and over lately, so yesterday he took to Facebook and, in a lengthy post, he answered the ones he gets asked most frequently. There's some pretty revealing stuff from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in there — especially about baby Groot, who he says does not retain Groot's memories in his new form. Check it out below:

Michael Cera Dealt Into Aaron Sorkin's Directorial Debut MOLLY'S GAME

Looks like Jessica Chastain has some company in Aaron Sorkin's feature directorial debut, Molly's GameTHR says that Michael Cera is in talks to join her in the remarkable true story of a woman named Molly Bloom, a former Olympic hopeful who went from a Los Angeles cocktail waitress to running secret poker games for some of Hollywood's biggest A-list actors (including Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tobey Maguire).

Chastain is playing Molly, and if Cera's deal goes through, he'll portray a poker player designated Player X, described as "an elite player who happens to be a celebrity who develops a unique relationship with Bloom."

I have full confidence that Chastain will be able to handle Sorkin's rapid-fire dialogue, but Cera? If nothing else, he's shown that he's capable of adapting to all sorts of different styles over his career, from the stylized Scott Pilgrim vs. The World to the awkward physical comedy of Arrested Development and more, so perhaps I shouldn't underestimate him. No word yet on exactly when this one will go before cameras, but Cera plans to shoot a movie called Captain Dad with Will Ferrell and Catherine Keener before this starts rolling, so I imagine it'll be at least a couple of months.

Proof That SUPER TROOPERS 2 is Really, Truly, Actually, Finally Happening

The original Super Troopers performed very well on DVD after its debut fifteen years ago, and after years of talk about a sequel, we finally have solid, concrete proof that Super Troopers 2 is finally in the process of filming. Broken Lizard (the comedy troupe responsible for the first movie) is back for the second movie, and they've shared the first production photo on their Facebook page:

That has to be a welcome sight for those who have been pulling for this movie to get made over the past decade-plus. I really first discovered the movie when I was in college, and though my friends and I loved it at the time, I never really thought it was popular enough to get a sequel. But after Broken Lizard raised $4.4 million in an Indiegogo campaign, here we are. They have almost $2 million more in the budget than they did for the first movie, so hopefully they'll be able to make sure all of that ends up on the screen in the most ridiculous possible ways. I'm holding out for a syrup drinking contest of epic proportions.

THE RAID's Iko Uwais Wrecks People in HEADSHOT Trailer

If you've seen Gareth Evans' incredible Indonesian martial arts action masterpieces The Raid and The Raid 2, then you're very familiar with how badass Iko Uwais can be (in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Less so). Uwais is back in a new martial arts film from The Mo Brothers called Headshot, in which he plays an amnesiac whose past comes back to haunt him. I'm guessing he wins, and his past will ultimately be the one haunted by the memories of Uwais' boot kicking it in the face.

This movie reunites Uwais with his Raid 2 co-star Julie Estelle ("Hammer Girl"), who looks equally badass here. This one is playing at the Toronto International Film Festival before getting a release in February of 2017. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
