Samkwok Workshop is an action figure mashup sorcerer. He’s always designing and creating incredible mashups using Hot Toys Iron Man figures.

A couple of his latest creations feature the Iron Man armor being radically transformed into a Predator and Xenomorph alien.

The Predator figure uses the Mark 43 armor as the base and the Xenomorph uses the Mark 17 armor.

The WWE Brings Us The Teaser Trailer For SURF’S UP 2: WAVEMANIA

0
0

I thought the first Surf’s Up movie was great! It was a great story that provided some fun entertainment. The WWE has taken over the Sony Pictures Animation franchise and they’ve produced a sequel called Surf’s Up 2: WaveMania. The film features the voices of WWE superstars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, Diva Paige, and Mr. McMahon.

I doubt the sequel will be as good as the first film, but I liked the first film so much that I’ve gotta give it a chance! The movie was directed by Henry Yu, who is the protégé of Genndy Tartakovsky. He was a story artist on Sym-Bionic Titan and both of the Hotel Transylvania films.

Cody Maverick, hungry for a new challenge, convinces an infamous big-wave-riding crew known as The Hang 5, to let him join them on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches, where, legend has it, they’ll find the biggest waves in the world. Cody soon discovers that the life he left behind might be more heroic than what any death-defying wave has to offer.

There’s no official release date set, but the movie will be released sometime in early 2017. I also included some promo images below featuring the new characters in the film.

Cool STAR TREK Cake Includes a Phaser, Tricorder, and Communicator

cool-star-trek-cake-includes-a-phaser-tricorder-and-communicator1

You’ve gotta check out this cool looking Star Trek-Themed cake that features a Phaser, Tricorder, and Communicator. It was created by Margi Chambers of CakeArt for the “Cake: The Final Frontier – A Celebration of 50 Years of Star Trek Collaboration.” Yes, it’s a Star Trek cake event! The creator of the cake breaks it down for us, explaining:

A tricorder was a multifunction hand-held device useful for data sensing, analysis, and recording.
A communicator, or personal receiver, was a hand-held communication device used by many species for person-to-person, person-to-ship, inter-ship communications.
A type-2 phaser is a typical hand-held directed-energy phaser weapon. Kept aboard Starfleet and Federation starships, staircases, space stations, and at planetary facilities.
Featured in Star Trek Enterprise, the Wall Comm was an integral part of shipboard communications.
My items were made using gum paste and fondant. I enjoyed the challenge of making them as close to original specs as possible.

You can check out some more images of the cake below.

5 New Unpleasantly Fun AMERICAN HORROR STORY Season 6 Promos

0
0

The American Horror Story Season 6 promos continue to roll in. We’ve got five new promo spots for you to watch today and none of them have anything to do with each other. The first is called “Camp Sight” and it features a UFO brutally abducting someone. The second is called “Wind Chimes” and it features a gnarly looking wind chime made of teeth being chopped up by a nurse. The third is "The Harvest" and features creepy hay men. The fourth is called "Open Wide" and if shows a spider crawling out of a woman's mouth. The fifth and final promo takes us through the five previous seasons and leads us to the craziness of Season 6.

As we previously reported, these promos are purposefully being used as a misdirection, so no one knows what the series is actually about. There’s only one in the bunch that actually represents what the next season will be. So, can you make a lucky guess which one it is, if any?

American Horror Story Season 6 will be released on September 14th. To watch the previously released promos, click here.

Fun Harley Quinn and Catwoman Fan Art by Nabetse Zitro

fun-harley-quinn-and-catwoman-fan-art-by-nabetse-zitro1

A few weeks ago I shared a great piece of Batgirl fan art created by artist Nabetse Zitro. Since then he’s whipped up a couple more Batman character pieces of Harley Quinn and Catwoman.

The Harley Quinn piece is called “Cape” and it comes with the following quote:

"If I was a redhead we could be twins... But you have to admit that the cape looks better on me."

The Catwoman piece is simply called “Catwoman,” and it came with the following note:

I firmly believe that in order to be sexy, a woman doesn’t need to “show a lot of skin”. That’s why I made this version of Catwoman, because we can always give a fresh look to our favorite characters.

I’m a fan of Zitro’s style and what he’s done with these characters. I hope he does more of them!

Fascinating Filmmaking Style Comparisons of Stanley Kubrick and Wes Anderson

0

Stanley Kubrick and Wes Anderson are both extremely talented directors with their own signature styles. The films they’ve made in the course of their careers are very different from each other — they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. But there are moments in Anderson’s work where you can tell he was inspired by Kubrick.

Video editor and film buff Dante Guerilla created a wonderfully fascinating video that compares the style of the two directors and shows us how similar they are to each other. It’s interesting to see how some of the shots that Anderson uses are similar to what Kubrick was doing. Some of those things include the super long zoom shots and the flat-angled pan that moves across a set.

Just watch the video below. You’ll see what I’m talking about!

This Gundam Sazabi Mech Has Been Given a D.Va OVERWATCH Makeover

If you’re a fan of Gundam and Overwatch, you’re gonna love this Sazabi mech that has been given a cool D.Va makeover from Overwatch. The figure was created by runeblade265 and it turned out looking great! It’s got the same color scheme and sponsorship decals as D.Va’s mech in the game. Her mech is cool and all, but this Gundam version is a lot more badass and could probably do a lot more damage. What do you think of it?

John Hughes Movie Tribute Art — What’s Your Favorite John Hughes Movie?

0
0

John Hughes made some incredibly great films in his career. I’ve enjoyed every movie that he’s been a part of, and today we have a collection of fun art that pays tribute to the films he made. Some of the movies he’s made include Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck, Pretty In Pink, National Lampoon Vacation. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Weird Science, Home Alone, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, and more.

The first series of art comes from Sam Carter and they feature silhouettes of some of Hughes’ most iconic characters. The second series of art comes from artist Luke Flowers and they give us more of a cartoonish take on some of the filmmaker’s classic movies.

These are all part of Popzilla’s John Hughes tribute art show, which is taking place at Pop! Comics. You can see the entire collection of art here

As you go through and look at the art, think about what your favorite Hughes film is and let us know in the comments. I love them all, but if I could choose only one to watch over and over again, it would have to be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s easily one of his most entertaining.

First Look at John Turturro as Jesus in His BIG LEBOWSKI Spin-Off Film GOING PLACES

0
0

Well, it looks like John Turturro really is reprising his role as Jesus Quintana in an upcoming spin-off of The Big Lebowski. A photo from the set of the film has surfaced online, and there’s no doubt you’ll recognize his look, minus the purple outfit. You can see it below.

The movie is called Going Places, and it's remake of the 1974 French film Les Valseuses, only it centers around Turturro’s Jesus character. That’s the only direct connection that this film has with The Big Lebowski. Joel and Ethan Coen are not involved with the project, and don’t expect to see any other characters from that the classic film in this one.

The movie also stars Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou, and Susan Sarandon, and the story follows “two petty thieves, Turturro’s Jesus and Cannavale’s Petey, compete to give a woman (Tautou) her first orgasm after she’s roped into their hijinks. Sarandon also ends up in their company, playing a criminal who just got out after a long stint in prison.”

When I first heard that Turturro was developing a Big Lebowski sequel/spin-off, I never thought it would actually happen, but here it is! There’s no doubt that it’s going to be a strange, humorous, and offbeat film, and I’m excited about seeing how it turns out.

Kevin Costner’s WATERWORLD Gets a Fun MAD MAX-Style Trailer

Kevin Costner’s Waterworld was basically Mad Max on water, only it wasn’t as awesome. YouTube user, Darth Blender, cut together a fan trailer for Waterworld in the style of Mad Max. It’s a fun trailer, but Waterworld was such a terrible film that not even an updated Mad Max-style trailer can make it look appealing.

Prepare yourself for the latest George Miller masterpiece! An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our wet planet, in a liquid landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. This is "Mad Max: Waterworld"!

STRANGER THINGS - The Duffer Bros. Say There Will Be “Justice for Barb” in Season 2

0

I’ve watched Stranger Things through twice already, and it was even better the second time around because there was a lot of stuff in there that I didn’t notice the first time around. If you get a chance to watch it again, you should definitely do that! I just want to see season two already, but we’ll probably have to wait awhile before that happens. The second season hasn’t even been officially announced yet! But that doesn’t mean creators Matt and Ross Duffer won’t talk about the future of the show.

During an interview with IGN, the Duffer Bros. talked about the fate of two big characters in the series who didn’t have a very happy ending in the first season. Things especially didn’t look good for Barb who looked pretty damn dead when we last saw her. When asked if there was a chance she could return, because in sci-fi stories anything can happen, Matt Duffer said:

“I can’t see it happening. But Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.
"It’s not like her parents are like ‘Oh Barb left. She died!’ Season one actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with hypothetical season two is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”

So Barb is gone for good, but at least there will be some kind of justice for her. They also talk about Doctor Brenner, who was brutally attacked by the monster in season one. We didn’t really see him die, though, so his fate was kind of left open. Matt reveals that that isn’t the last we’ve seen of the character.

“I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner… as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me – when the monster jumps on him and we cut away. He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there’s a possibility of seeing him again.”

That’s good to hear. Brenner is a great character, and I was hoping they would explore him a bit more. I’m curious to know how exactly they envision his end because they obviously want to take it to a brutal level.

All we need now is for Netflix to green light the second season and get it rolling!

Sideshow Collectibles Killer Croc Premium Format Figure

sideshow-collectibles-killer-croc-premium-format-figure2

Sideshow Collectibles has unveiled their Killer Croc Premium Format Figure, and this thing is incredibly cool. Artists Pablo Viggiano and Alfred Paredes did a great job sculpting this bad boy. I’ve always liked Killer Croc. He’s a great Batman villain, and this just a badass character design. The figure is currently available for pre-order for $519. If you want one, click here.

“I threw a rock at him!”
Killer Croc might not be the brightest villain to ever grace the pages of DC Comics, but he is one of the toughest and most brutal. Constantly stepping up against Batman, and occasionally other super-villains, Killer Croc is as formidable an opponent as he is a statue.
Sideshow’s Killer Croc Premium Format™ Figure captures the physicality and anger that DC collectors expect from this misshapen villain. Poised to stomp through the sewers, Croc’s feet are kicking up a splash as a rat scurries around him. Clad in weathered fabric pants and rope belt, one gets an idea that his is a man or beast that has been living rough on the edge.
The Sideshow exclusive version of the Killer Croc Premium Format™ Figure features a swap-out portrait that is far more crocodilian in appearance.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Will Bring Endings and New Beginnings to the MCU

0
0

Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel will be a culmination of everything that has happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it was first launched with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man. According to the Russo Bros. these two upcoming Avengers films will mark a new beginning for the MCU, which I think a lot of us fans are expecting. Anthony Russo talked about it in an interview with IGN, saying:

"I can't get into too much detail about who we're introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie. In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they're going to be the beginning of certain things."

They didn’t reveal what any of these “certain things” will be, but we know that there are going to be a ton of characters in the film, old and new. Vin Diesel just confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy team will definitely be a part of the story. Russo went on to discuss the process of “nailing down which characters to actually choose for the films and whether personal preference or story demands rules for those decisions.” He said:

"It's a little bit of both, because you always have to make sure that your choices feel organic to the storytelling, and really, you have to sort of structure them in the way that they need to be there. You have to have them, or they shouldn't be in the movie. It's a little bit of a dance between the two, where you have big eyes, and you want everybody included in the movie, but you have to go through the process of... what's the best story that you can tell."

There are a lot of filmmakers that don’t have an understanding of that basic concept of doing what is best for the story. We’ve seen lots of filmmakers out there sacrifice story for an overload of pointless characters and visual effects. The Russo Bros. know how to tell a great story, and they’ve proved it with the two Captain America films they’ve made.

Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel aren’t being released until 2018 and 2019, so we’ve got a long way to go before we actually start finding out any kind of story details, but I can’t wait to see what Marvel is cookin’!

Set Videos From Stephen King’s IT Tease Two Creepy Moments

0
0

A few videos and photos have been posted online from the set of Stephen King’s It and they feature a couple of key creepy looking scenes.

For those of you who have read the book, you’ll recognize that the scene takes place on 29 Neibolt Street. In the story, the Losers Club find themselves on the street at an old, creepy, rundown, abandoned house. That house is featured in one of the videos, and it looks great! It shows Bill and the rest of the Losers Club hanging out in front of the house before they walk up to the door.

The second video features The Leper, who is one of the malevolent forms that the monster takes in the film. We see him confronting a young Eddie Kaspbrak.

I’m loving what I see in these set videos. That house looks insanely creepy, and it’s very close to what I imagined in my head when I first read the book.

The movie is being directed by Andy Muschietti, and it stars Jaeden Lieberher (Midnight Special) as Bill Denbrough, Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as Richie Tozier, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Jack Dylan Grazer (Tales of Halloween) as Stan Uris, Wyatt Oleff (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs (Hawaii Five-0) as Mike Hanlon, and Jeremy Ray Taylor (42) as Ben Hanscom. I included a photo of them from the set below as well. Here's an official synopsis:

Based on the novel by Stephen King, the film’s story recalls a promise made twenty-eight years ago that forces seven adults to reunite in Derry, Maine, where as teenagers they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Unsure that their Losers Club had vanquished the creature all those years ago, the seven had vowed to return to Derry if IT should ever reappear. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that summer return as they prepare to do battle with the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers once more.

The first of two films is set to be released on September 8th, 2017. To check out all of our previous news regarding It, click here.

THOR: RAGNAROK Set Photos Feature Thor, Loki, and Tease a Possible Unexpected Cameo

0
0

Over the weekend some photos from the set of Thor: Ragnarok surfaced online featuring Thor and Loki walking around the streets of New York City. As you will see, they aren't wearing their Asgardian threads.

So what are these two characters doing in New York City? Well first, director Taika Waititi posted the following image and caption as a joke:

That was then followed by a retweet of some set photos, and one of those photos revealed something very interesting. This one actually may have really contained a spoiler! There's a reference to another superhero in the Marvel universe, and there's a chance that the character could appear Thor: Ragnarok.

Here are the photos:

In one of those photos, Thor is holding a business card. That card reads, "177A Bleecker Street." If you are familiar with the comics, you'll know that is the address of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in Greenwich Village, New York. So it seems as if Loki and Thor are in New York looking for Doctor Strange for some help!

That's just speculation on my part, but I don't know any other reason why Thor would be in New York with a card leading him to the Sorcerer Supreme. It seems to me like there's a very good chance that Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Strange in the film, unless Thor and Loki knock on his door to find that he's not home.

There's also the chance that this address is simply a slight nod to Doctor Strange, and the address on the card is as far as it goes. We'll just have to wait and see. I hope Strange pops up in the film, though! That would be awesome!

Thor: Ragnarok is currently shooting in Brisbane, Queensland, and the set they are shooting on in these photos is doubling for New York City. The movie is set to be released in theaters on November 3, 2017!

The Trend of COMMUNITY Cameos in Marvel Movies Will Continue in AVENGERS Sequels

As many of you already know, before Joe and Anthony Russo got involved with directing Marvel movies, they were directing episodes of the TV series Community. One of the fun things that they’ve done for Community fans with these Marvel films is feature cameos of actors from the series in the movies they’ve made.

In Captain America: The Winter Solider, Danny Pudi played a S.H.I.E.L.D. communications tech and in Civil War, Jim Rash played an MIT liaison. During an interview with CinemaBlend, Joe Russo was asked if the trend of Community cameos will continue in the upcoming Avengers sequels and this is what he told them:

“We're literally in that phase of the pre-production where we start thinking about those kinds of things, and right now we're looking for the right part to see who's a match for the next cameo.”

Russo was then pressed for a solid confirmation that there will be another Community cameo and he said:

“Yeah, absolutely. We've got to keep the streak going.”

So as long as the Russo Bros. continue to make Marvel movies, it seems like we’ll continue to see Community actors make cameos. I should probably point out that Donald Glover has landed an actual role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is being directed by Jon Watts. We aren’t sure who exactly he’s playing, but since he is going to be a part of the MCU, I guess there’s a chance that he could reprise that role in one of the Russo movies somewhere down the line. I should probably also mention that Brie Larson, who is playing Captain Marvel in the MCU, also played a recurring role in a few episodes of Community. She’ll definitely be in the Avengers sequels.

Some of the other main actors that could potentially make an appearance in these Avengers films could include Joel McHale, Allison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Chevy Chase, and Yvette Nicole Brown. I'm sure they'll find a fun little role for one of them to play.

Marvel's New Young Female Iron Man Will Be Named Ironheart, and Other Details

Marvel recently revealed that Tony Stark would be stepping away from Iron Man in the comics and that he would be replaced by a 15-year-old MIT student named Riri Williams, who is a genius that already built her own set of armor in her dorm room.

Marvel has revealed to Wired that the name of her version of Iron Man will be Ironheart. They've also provided some new art for us to check out. The transition of this character into her new role will start in this fall's Invincible Iron Man #1 which will be written by Brian Michael Bendis and the art will be created by Stefano Caselli. When talking about coming up with and using the name Ironheart, Bendis says:

“Iron Woman seemed old fashioned to some. Iron Maiden looked like a legal nightmare. And Ironheart, coined by Joe Quesada, after I told him my planned story for Riri, speaks not only to the soul of the character but to the Iron Man franchise as a whole. Tony first put on the armor to save his heart. Riri puts it on for different reasons altogether but still heart-related. When people see her story, you’ll be amazed at how simple and brilliant Joe’s suggestion was."

It's also revealed that Riri's armor will pay tribute to Stark, as the A.I. used for the suit will be based on Stark's personality. Tom Breevort, who’s editing the series, says that “regardless of where he might be physically, he’ll be soaring along with her spiritually.” That should make things fun.

I like the idea of Ironheart. I hope that this turns out to be a character that fans will love. At this point we have no idea if she will be a hit or miss, but I'll definitely start following her story with my kids. I've got a couple of young girls looking for new female superheroes they can look up to. I'm curious to see how this character grows and develops in the Marvel universe.
