Zendaya is Reportedly Playing a Well-Known Character in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

$

When it was first announced that Zendaya was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, there was really no information on who she would be playing. It was initially reported that the name of her character was Michelle and then that name was backed up by director Jon Watts during an interview at Comic-Con. According to The Wrap, she might actually be playing a different character. If you don't want to know who it is, you probably shouldn't read ahead.

The latest report says that Zendaya will be playing long-time Spider-Man love interest Mary Jane Watson. According to inside sources, "at least one recent draft of the script has Zendaya’s character dropping several clues to her identity as Mary Jane."

So the script doesn't come right out and say that she's Mary Jane? Is she in some kind of witness protection program where she is going to go by the name of Michelle in the film? Why would a script only "drop clues" about who this character is?

It doesn't make sense to me. Just because she is Peter Parker's love interest doesn't mean it's going to be Mary Jane Watson, especially with how Marvel has been switching things up with their films. Also, it doesn't really make sense to keep this character a secret, unless her identity really is part of some kind of twist like being in a witness protection program.

The Wrap has proven to be a reliable source for the most part, but I'm just not convinced of this latest rumor. Maybe it's legit, maybe it's not. We'll just have to wait and see. What do you think about the possibility of her playing Mary Jane?

VERONICA MARS Creator Developing THE LOST BOYS TV Series

The creator of Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas, just landed a pretty awesome TV series gig from The CW. He will be developing a series based on the classic 1987 vampire film The Lost Boys!

Thomas will be writing and producing the series, which has a very interesting long term plan. According to Deadline, The Lost Boys is envisioned as a seven-season anthology-style show, and I absolutely love the concept!

"The series will tell a story spanning 70 years, each season chronicling a decade. Season 1 will be set in San Francisco during the Summer of Love, 1967. Each season, the humans, the setting, the antagonist and the story all change — only the vampires, our Lost Boys, who like the Peter Pan characters never grow up, remain the same.

How cool is that?! This project will explore what it really means to be immortal. I am a huge fan of the original film, and this series seems like it's a great concept. I'd much rather see something like this than a big screen remake of the original film.

Thomas is a talented individual, and I couldn't be happier that he is the brains behind the show. It just means that there's a good chance that it's going to turn out great.

My biggest hang up is that the series will be on The CW. I'd much rather see it on a cable network or streaming service that is able to get away with darker, more hardcore content. As long as Thomas and his team pump out great stories, though, that's all that matters.

What do you think about Thomas taking on The Lost Boys for The CW?

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Gets a Wicked Fun Fan-Made Beastie Boys Trailer

We’ve got an incredibly cool fan made trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story for you to watch. It was created by Matthew Longua, and he gets things rockin’ by editing together some of the footage that has been released so far to the sweet, sweet sounds of The Beastie Boys. Specifically, the song "Sabotage," which was recently used with Star Trek Beyond. As you’ll see, it all mixes together awesomely. The song fits perfectly fits the rebellious nature of Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and her team.

One of the other things I noticed that I thought was cool is how the song fits in with the trailer's sound effects, such at the infamous siren-like noise coming from the Death Star. The guitar riffs in the song seamlessly mix with that siren. Watch it for yourself, you’ll see!

Witness THE TICK in Action in First Two Great Clips from the New Series

“When destiny speaks, she speaks to me.”

As a longtime fan of The Tick, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Amazon’s upcoming series, but I was hoping for the best. Thanks to EW, was have two clips from the series to share with you. These show us our first footage from the series, and it looks great! There’s a good amount of action mixed in with the funny Tick humor that fans enjoy.

Judging by these two clips, actor Peter Serafinowicz is fantastic in the role! He pulls off the character wonderfully, and he’s incredibly fun to watch. I was a little worried when he was first cast, but he embodies the characters so well. There’s nothing for me to complain about here. Amazon’s The Tick looks like it’s going to be an awesome series! When talking about the series, creator Ben Edlund says:

“It’s a tremendous balancing act because it had to have stakes, it had to have blood, it had to have certain things that are part of the living language of superheroes in the popular culture today. It has a responsibility if it wants to play in that pool to have life and death, to have a relationship to violence that none of the other iterations did. And so how do you have The Tick slip in a pool of blood and have it be funny? You have to find a very specific tone.”

He goes on to talk about Serafinowicz in the role of the big blue hero saying:

“His voice is The Tick’s voice — it’s what I hear in my head now. And to kind of have that take place when combating the very, very large shadow that is cast by Patrick Warburton and his way of characterizing this creature, that is a tremendous relief to feel like there is a new authoritative take on this character in live-action.”

It’s explained that this version of The Tick is different from previous versions. This version is described as being weirder and more dangerous. You’ll get a taste of that in the two clips that I’ve embedded for you below.

The Tick is set to premiere on Amazon today, so if these clips sell you on it, you can watch the pilot episode right now!

I’ve got a wonderfully charming animated short film for you to watch called "The Boy Who Learned to Fly." The movie tells the true story of Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprinter, who is the fastest person ever timed. He just won two gold medals in the 2016 Olympics in Rio for the 100m and 200m. This short takes us through the athlete's origin story.

This is the story of the fastest man in the world, who almost never was. Introducing Th e Boy Who Learned to Fly , an animated film based on the life of Usain Bolt.

This short was released by Gatorade back in July, and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s definitely worth watching. The animation is beautifully done, and it’s a very touching and inspiring story.

THOR: RAGNAROK Set Video Offers First Tiny Glimpse of Cate Blanchett as Hela

A couple of videos shot from the set of Thor: Ragnarok have surfaced online, and one of them seems to give us our first look at Cate Blancett as Hela. It’s a very tiny glimpse, but you can see she is wearing a green costume, which in an iconic look of the character. However, she’s not wearing her headpiece because they are obviously in between takes.

You can see her sitting on the stairs in from of the cast and crew. At one point, standing in front of her you see a man in armor holding a sword. I’m not exactly sure who that could be, but CBM speculates that it could be Karl Urban as Skurge the Executioner. There's a screenshot below.

The Marvel film is currently shooting in Queensland, Australia. The other video you’ll find below features Chris Hemsworth rehearsing some fight sequences with some stuntmen. I can’t wait to see actual real photos of these characters, but as a fan who’s incredibly excited about Thor: Ragnarok, seeing stuff like this, even if it isn’t high resolution, is still cool for me.

The Thor: Ragnarok set footage and screenshots below come from 9 News Gold Coast and Irena Morgenstern Skin Management on Facebook via user B1gr1g.

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi and is set to be released on November 3rd, 2017. For rumored details about Hela’s role in the film, you can click here

The Russo Bros. Also Want Anna Kendrick as Marvel’s Squirrel Girl

Ever since Anna Kendrick suggested that she might want to play Marvel's Squirrel Girl, the internet hasn’t stopped with it. It all started when she said this:

“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Soon after that, Edgar Wright sent out a Tweet saying, “Get @AnnaKendrick47 a Squirrel Girl film.” Now Marvel's Joe and Anthony Russo are on board with seeing Kendrick in the role. These are the guys who directed the last two Captain America films and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, and I’d think their opinion really counts at Marvel Studios.

When talking to Yahoo about it, Joe Russo said, “It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans.” Don’t expect them to add her to the character line-up in Infinity War, though. They’ve currently got enough characters on the roster to keep them busy. Joe says that they have their “hands full trying to tell the story we have with our preexisting characters. Anthony would probably die from exhaustion if we introduced another character.”

With all of the hype surrounding Kendrick as Squirrel Girl, it makes me wonder if Marvel has actually had a conversation about it. I think it’d be great to see a Squirrel Girl movie with Kendrick, I know that my little girls would love it, and she’d make an incredibly fun addition to the MCU.

POKEMON and STAR WARS Mashup Action Figure - Bulba Fett

This is a bootleg action figure that mashes up Pokemon with Star Wars. It's called Poke Wars and this particular character is Bulba Fett. I have no idea where it came from, why it exists, or if there are any other characters, but it would be awesome if there was a full set!

I couldn't really find any information online other than the fact there's some fan fiction called Poke Wars, but it has nothing to do with Star Wars. It's about Pokemon who go on a homicidal killing spree.

Robert Rodriguez Developing a Backwoods Horror Movie Called BLOOD

Writer, director, and producer Robert Rodriguez is teaming up with Bold Films to develop a new horror movie called Blood. Rodriguez, who has directed films such as Sin City, Machete, Planet Terror, and From Dusk Til Dawn, is producing the film.

They've hired Jeff Buhler to take a crack at writing the script. He's worked on a few high-profile horror films that include the Jacob’s Ladder remake, the upcoming remake of Paramount’s Pet Sematary and The Midnight Meat Train

Thanks to Variety, we have the following story description:

The story centers on a recently engaged woman who becomes determined to find her birth family before she marries. But when she meets her unusual kin in the deep woods of Florida, she begins reliving horrifying suppressed memories that lead her to believe her newfound relatives may be hiding some dark secrets.

Sounds like it could be a twisted and fun horror flick! Movies that take place in the backwoods of anywhere never turn out well.

There's no director attached to the project yet, but I don't think Rodriguez will be taking it on as he is currently in the middle of developing Alita: Battle Angel for producer James Cameron.

As for Bold Films, the production company being the film, they have developed some great films over the years that include Whiplash, Nightcrawler, Drive, The Neon Demon, and the upcoming Boston Marathon bombing film Stronger with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Toho is Developing a "Big-Scale" Anime GODZILLA Movie

Toho, the Japanese production company behind Godzilla, has announced that they will be developing the first feature-length anime Godzilla movie with Polygon Pictures! The movie is currently just called Godzilla, and it's scheduled to be released in 2017.

The film is being co-directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan series) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Knights of Sidonia). The script for the film is being written by Gen Urobuchi, who is a popular writer of graphic novels, light novels, and anime scripts. One of his most recent credits includes the 2015 feature animation film Psycho-Pass: The Movie. Shizuno offered up the following brief statement:

“We’re aiming to make a big-scale animation entertainment that people who love Godzilla and people who know nothing about him can both enjoy."

There's no information on what the story will entail, but we have the image above that comes from the official website. It looks like a sci-fi type of Godzilla movie that takes place in the future. I'm sure we'll get some new details soon enough.

Toho recently made the upcoming Godzilla: Resurgence film, which looks amazing! The production company is obviously excited about the reinvigoration of the franchise and they are looking to expand on it. As a fan of animated films, I'm excited to see how this animated Godzilla movie turns out and what the creature design will look like.

The Unipiper Dresses as Charmander and Plays POKEMON Theme with Flaming Bagpipes

The Unipiper (aka Brian Kidd) is at it again. We've written about the Portland, Oregon-based musician's exploits when he balanced on a BB-8 droid and dressed up as The Force Awakens villain Kylo Ren, but now he's moved on to the latest craze: Pokemon Go.

This time, he dresses in a full Charmander suit and plays the Pokemon theme song on his flaming bagpipes. He looks a little shaky up there on that Poke ball, but I probably would be too if I was blasting flames inches away from my face and completely covered in a flammable costume. Keep doin' your thing, man.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Leaked Call Sheet Confirms a Villain and Teases MCU Connection

$

ComicBookMovie reports that a leaked call sheet from Spider-Man: Homecoming has hit the internet, and if it's legit (it came from Reddit...so take it with a grain of salt), it confirms one of the movie's many rumored villains and also teases a small but cool connection that ties the film into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As you can see, Fargo star Bokeem Woodbine is supposedly playing a character named Shultz, who is likely Herman Schultz, aka Shocker. Angourie Rice (who was solid in The Nice Guys) seems to be playing Betty Brant (the Daily Bugle secretary originally played by Elizabeth Banks in Sam Raimi's movies), and it looks like Martin Starr, Hannibal Buress, and Selenis Leyva (who plays Gloria on Orange is the New Black) are all playing school faculty members. You'll also notice "Z" (Zendaya) is listed as playing "Michelle," but as we learned yesterday, that's probably a cover for her real identity.

But the MCU tease is a really subtle one. Kenneth Choi, who appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger as Howling Commando member Jim Morita, is now playing Principal Morita, which we have to assume means that he's playing his Cap character's descendant (probably his grandson, but maybe his son, depending on if they decide to age him up in this film). That's pretty cool...assuming, of course, that this turns out to be real.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017.

Rumor: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Roller Coaster May Be Heading to EPCOT

$

An attraction called Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission — Breakout! is replacing Disneyland's Tower of Terror ride, and if our comments section is any indication, a lot of fans aren't happy about it. But maybe they'll be more open to an additional Guardians-related ride that's rumored to be coming to Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center.

Walt Disney World Today (via /Film) says that current EPCOT attraction Ellen's Energy Adventure is going to be replaced with the first roller coaster in the park's history, a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed ride that "would feature both elaborate scenes and a long roller coaster portion." This is notable because it would be the first ride in the park's 35 year history to eschew the "edutainment" theme that they've cultivated there, and it would be only the sixth ride there to be categorized as "thrill."

Interestingly, there are apparently some major restrictions on the use of the Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy name due to competing rights issues with Universal Studios (who pimps the characters and the brand in their Islands of Adventure park), so there appears to be a chance that this ride could make it all the way through production without having those labels appear anywhere on it. It'll be fascinating to see how they deal with this issue, and if they can come to some sort of legal resolution or have to find a creative way around those restrictions.

I haven't visited Ellen's Energy Adventure, but I can't imagine theme park fans will be as up in arms about this news as they are about the dismantling of Tower of Terror, which is a beloved ride among fans. We'll have to wait and see if this rumor, like Mission — Breakout!, eventually ends up coming true.

Old Hollywood, Seth Rogen, and James Franco Collide in Trailer For ZEROVILLE

Out of all the things Seth Rogen and James Franco have collaborated on together, this looks to be their most ambitious project yet. Zeroville isn't a stoner comedy, nor does it take place during the apocalypse or North Korea. The movie is about the evolution of Hollywood in the 1960s from an old to new era, and one guy with a tattoo of Montgomery Cliff kissing Elizabeth Taylor on the back of his head.

Vikar (Franco) gets into the movie business through several different angles from the help of an insider named "Viking Man" (Rogen) and several other characters.

The cast for this film is huge and features Will Ferrell, Megan Fox, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson, just to name a few.

The trailer is a sales trailer, which means it gives you a little more than the typical commercial trailer. It looks interesting, but I have no idea how it will measure up compared to the other projects Franco and Rogen have worked on together. Check it out below.

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT Co-Creator Says The New BLAIR WITCH "Blows The Doors Off The Original"

Everyone who has seen the surprise sequel to The Blair Witch Project, titled Blair Witch, has been blown away. This includes co-creator of the original film, Eduardo Sanchez, who says the film "blows the doors off the original." Bloody Disgusting has the full quote, which you can read below:

“It’s just full-blast ‘Blair Witch’,” he explained. “It’s really creepy and the last third is just crazy. It’s just all over the place. It just does not let you go, you know? I’m really happy to have been a part of it… it kind of progresses the found-footage genre a little bit which I think is really cool...It’s really, really well grounded in the original. And I think that the fans of the original will get a lot out of it. It’s kind of a recognizable…it’s almost like you’ve been, like kind of a deja vu, but then it turns into just a — like I said, it kinda takes our film and blows the doors off and goes nuts with it, in a really really good way.”

That's promising! We heard a lot of positive reception to the footage when the film got a surprise reveal at SDCC, so I'm eager to see how they raised the bar. Let's not forget the original film defined the found footage style of filming, so this sequel will have some big shoes to fill!

5 Reasons Why ROGUE ONE Could Be The Best Star Wars Film Yet

$
0
0

It's pretty great that we don't have to wait multiple years for Star Wars films anymore — they're just coming down the pipeline every year now! There seems to be a tiny bit confusion around the newest film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, because they don't clearly state in any of the trailers that the movie takes place right before the original Star Wars. But the events of this film happen right before the original trilogy and obviously quite some time after the (cringe) prequel trilogy. Luke is still baggin' womp rats in his T-16 and helping pre-cooked Uncle Owen on Tatooine, Han Solo is still smuggling and Han Soloing around the universe with Chewie, and Rey isn't even a twinkle in the eyes of (insert theory here). Now that we're all on the same page, let's take a look at five reasons Rogue One could be the best Star Wars movie yet!

5. Cinematography

From what we've seen, Rogue One's cinematography is going to be stunning. Part of this must come from Gareth Edwards' eye in the director's chair, because before I started writing this I thought his previous film Godzilla was shot by the same cinematographer (Seamus McGarvey), but I was very wrong. With a pretty good track record including critically acclaimed films Zero Dark Thirty and Foxcatcher, Crieg Fraser's work on Rogue One looks downright epic. From the lighting and color to the positioning of the camera, it looks like it's going to be a visual treat.

4. Vader

Confusion or not, the inclusion of Darth Vader is going to sell tickets for Rogue One, and hopefully this appearance doesn't amount to a glorified cameo. Last time he was on screen and not in (cringe) Hayden Christensen form, it was the finale of Episode III:

Terrible.

With the advances in filmmaking and technology, we should be in for a Darth Vader that we've never seen on film before. There's very little chance that Edwards will only have him lumber in and cross his arms next to the emperor — Vader is powerful. I believe that Edwards and his creative team will have to show audiences why we should fear him again, which will lead to some gloriously awesome scenes in Rogue One. Oh, and it's only fitting that the legendary James Earl Jones is back to lend his voice to the Sith Lord. That will never be a bad thing.

If he is reduced to a glorified cameo, here's to hoping that he strides onto a battlefield, picks up an entire army of rebel soldiers, snaps their necks, throws 'em into the ocean, and walks away. Let's see that power!

3. Gareth Edwards

Edwards hasn't been in the director's chair for very long, but with only two other features under his belt, he shows a real grasp of scope and an aforementioned good eye behind the camera. Godzilla (2014) wasn't as good as it should've been, but I feel like that was more the fault of shoddy writing. Edwards also abandoned sequels in the Godzilla franchise for the opportunity to direct this project and loves this world as much as most of us do. He's not afraid to sway into the darker side of things either, which is going to bring a fresh take into the Star Wars universe, but we'll get to that soon. When all of this comes together — his passion, skill, and potential — it's a recipe for something special.

2. The Cast/Characters

I could probably write an entire article on Rogue One's plethora of exciting and new characters, and while the main trilogies have the trait of going after relative unknowns in lead roles, Rogue One has brought on an outstanding and mostly proven cast. From more well-known names like Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie YenAlan Tudyk, and Ben Mendelsohn, to the lesser known (but still very talented) Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed, this cast is jam packed with talent. Right off the bat, Tudyk's droid character, K-2SO, seems like a moody C-3PO, and it looks like he will add some great moments of levity. He seems to have a Chewie/Han relationship with Luna's former rebel recruiter, Cassian Andor. And I can't wait to find out more about this guy:

We can most certainly look forward to some awesome moments of evil as well, because along with the inclusion of Darth Vader, Mendelsohn is playing a shadowy officer of the Empire named Orsen Crennic, which will he seems to own very well. We also have some new Stormtroopers called Deathtroopers, who I'm assuming don't miss nearly as many shots as their regular counterparts.

Jones' Jyn Erso is shrouded in a little bit of mystery, but in a recent interview she shed some light on her character's formidable badassery:

"Physically, [Jyn is] smaller than everyone else around her, but…when someone has something they believe in, that’s what powers them, that’s what motivates them, that’s what can give someone enormous strength."

Erso might go on to be revered as one of the most memorable characters in Star Wars history. Jones elaborated a little more on her overall role in the rebellion:

“I would say there’s a huge amount of respect for women in the Rebellion. Mon Mothma is ultimately, for Jyn, someone she looks up to. So even as the film opens [Jyn] has a very strong female role model in front of her, and someone she respects. It’s vital. As we’re seeing in politics, it is a world where women are where women are becoming leaders of nations, and films should be reflecting that.”

Although I don't watch the animated Star Wars shows (Rebels and The Clone Wars), I hear they're pretty good, with better quality than the prequels (which may not say much). Whitaker's character Saw Gerrera is from Clone Wars and has close ties to Jones' Erso, who recently stated:

"He’s really close to her, and they have a very powerful relationship. He’s talking about how you maybe make compromises that may harm people, or may harm the situation, or people may question it, but if you’re doing it for the good, there’s a positive thing about that. But what does it make you become? And how do you change as a person?"

I could go into more details about everyone's place in Rogue One, but I'll leave it there for now. It just might have the deepest pool of characters that we've ever seen in a universe that's already brimming with memorable characters, but what makes Rogue One different is its' more grounded story and tone. These are blue collar characters fighting in the trenches, which should make them relatable and engaging to the audience.

1. A Different Look At A Familiar Universe

I love a good lightsaber battle and a large scale space dogfight just as much as the next guy/girl, but change is a good thing. The Star Wars Universe is vast and has massive potential with regards to storytelling, so it's about time we stray away from the main destiny storyline. All of the feature films have been following the Skywalker lineage and their collective journey discovering the force and battling whatever The Empire decides to call themselves at the time, and we're going to have plenty of Skywalker/Rey destiny to deal with in Episodes VIII and IX.

While we're still dealing with The Rebellion vs. The Empire, it's going to be refreshing to step outside of a Force-driven storyline and into a darker, grittier, ground-level, and war-like film. It'll make the characters more relatable, which will result in a deeper investment with the group's journey to obtain the plans for the Death Star. It's not going to stray too far away from dealing with the Jedi and The Force, however. One of the planets named Jedha, is billed as a sacred world and the site for a Jedi pilgrimage, with Edwards elaborating on its place in the film and the universe it resides in:

“The Force is basically in Star Wars like a religion, and they’re losing their faith in the period that we start the movie. We were trying to find a physical location we could go to that would speak to the themes of losing your faith and the choice between letting the Empire win, or evil win, and good prevailing. It got embodied in this place we called Jedha. It’s a place where people who believe in the Force would go on a pilgrimage. It was essentially taken over by the Empire. It’s an occupied territory… for reasons we probably can’t reveal. There’s something very important in Jedha that serves both the Jedi and the Empire. It felt very much like something we could relate to in the real world.”

There's speculation that it could revolve around Kyber Crystals which are what Jedis use to build their lightsabers. Delving deeper and expanding the rich mythology of which we already know and love is going to be fun to see, learn about, and experience. Hopefully we're in for something different and unique. From the sounds of things, we are. I'll leave you with a quote you can hear in the Rogue One Celebration Reel from Edwards about making this film:

"We're making a film that's right touching my favorite movie of all time, but then if you're too respectful of it that you don't do anything new, or different, or take a risk, then what did you bring to the table?"

It might be a dumb question, but are you excited for Rogue One? Let us know in the comments below!

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released December 16th, 2016, and they can go ahead and take my money now if they want.

Rainn Wilson Will Unleash a Giant Shark in MEG

$

0

After spending decades in development, a film adaptation of Steve Alten's bestselling book Meg will finally hit the big screen in a couple of years, and the former Dwight Schrute will be along for the ride. Deadline reports that Rainn Wilson has joined the cast, which includes Jason Statham and Fan Bingbing in lead roles. The movie is about a massive shark and the people who join forces to try to kill it. Here's the book's synopsis:

On a top-secret dive into the Pacific Ocean’s deepest canyon, Jonas Taylor found himself face-to-face with the largest and most ferocious predator in the history of the animal kingdom. The sole survivor of the mission, Taylor is haunted by what he’s sure he saw but still can’t prove exists – Carcharodon megalodon, the massive mother of the great white shark. The average prehistoric Meg weighs in at twenty tons and could tear apart a Tyrannosaurus rex in seconds.
Written off as a crackpot suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, Taylor refuses to forget the depths that nearly cost him his life. With a Ph.D. in paleontology under his belt, Taylor spends years theorizing, lecturing, and writing about the possibility that Meg still feeds at the deepest levels of the sea. But it takes an old friend in need to get him to return to the water, and a hotshot female submarine pilot to dare him back into a high-tech miniature sub.
Diving deeper than he ever has before, Taylor will face terror like he’s never imagined, and what he finds could turn the tides bloody red until the end of time. MEG is about to surface. When she does, nothing and no one is going to be safe, and Jonas must face his greatest fear once again.

The movie's setting has been moved to China in an attempt to reach a more global audience and allow for better co-financing and distribution overseas.

Wilson will play "Jack Morris, a tech billionaire who funds an underwater observation program that unwittingly unleashes the Carcharodon megalodon – a 70-foot, 40-ton prehistoric cousin of the great white." Sounds like a part he could play in his sleep, and hopefully he'll add a light touch to a project that could easily be taken far too seriously. National Treasure director Jon Turtletaub took over directing duties from Eli Roth, and Meg will hit theaters on March 2, 2018.

Clive Barker Had Plans To Reveal The First Cenobite in HELLRAISER 3

$
0
0

If Clive Barker had his way, Pinhead would've been gone after Hellraiser 3. Bloody Disgusting says the news comes from Doug Bradley, who has played the character in several sequels and said the original plan for the third film involved the reveal of "the first Cenobite":

“Clive had a plan for a third ‘Hellraiser’ movie which he was working on while we were filming ‘Hellbound’ that didn’t involve Pinhead at all,” Bradley explained. “It was a story set in Ancient Egypt. The Great Pyramid was the first Lament Configuration that was built to raise the great Pharaoh, who was the first Cenobite.”

So Hellraiser 3 was meant to be an origin story? I wonder how fans would've responded to it back then. Something tells me Pinhead wouldn't be nearly as iconic as he is today if they would've ended his run. Hellraiser fans, would you have preferred a film like this as opposed to the Hellraiser 3 we got?
