Sylvester Stallone’s Role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Is an Important One

One of the big surprises to come out of Comic-Con last weekend was the reveal that Sylvester Stallone is going to be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He made a brief appearance in the Comic-Con trailer for the film, which has yet to be released, and the crowd went wild.

There’s no word on who exactly Stallone is playing. Judging by the costume he was wearing it could very well be a Nova Corps character, but there’s no confirmation of that. In an interview with CinemaBlend, director James Gunn teased a little bit more info about the character saying that he will play a key role in the story. He said:

“It's a very, very key, important role. It's not a huge role. He's a great and key supporting actor.”

It’ll be fun to see how Gunn actually plans on utilizing hm. One thing we know from this statement is that he will have some kind of an important impact on the story. I guess we’ll eventually find out who he’s playing, but in the meantime, all there is is fan speculation.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released on May 5th, 2017.

Adam Savage Goes Undercover at Comic-Con as the Bear from THE REVENANT

Adam Savage loves cosplay, and he also enjoys going to geek conventions all dressed up so that no one recognizes him. At San Diego Comic-Con he dressed up as the bear from The Revenant. It’s not the best cosplay he’s ever done at a con, but it’s still cool to see him go out and have some fun with the fans. The best part of the cosplay was the dummy of Leonard DiCaprio’s character that he was dragging around with him.

It's time for Adam's Incognito walk through San Diego Comic-Con! This year, Adam's costume is a creature of his own creation--a bear suit that's more realistic than cartoonish. But he also couldn't help making it pop-culture related, so he made it inspired by the Leonardo DiCaprio film, The Revenant, complete with a Leo prop!

Did you see this bear walking around Comic-Con? If so, you saw Adam Savage!

The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) recently teamed up with Marvel to make an official mission patch featuring Rocket Raccoon and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy for the U.S. National Laboratory on the International Space Station (ISS).

This is a pretty cool design for a patch, and it’s fun to see the geeks at Marvel teaming up with the geeks at NASA to create stuff like this.

The patch was revealed at Comic-Con last weekend by CASIS rep Patrick O’Neill, who notes that the patch represents all of the scientific investigations on the station’s National Laboratory for 2016. He said:

“These are characters who have a bit of a space-based background to begin with. So both of [these] characters already embody some of the characteristics associated with what’s happening on the space station.”

We have a video below for you to check out that offers a few more details about the creation of the patch:

One of the more iconic brands in comics and entertainment, Marvel and its Custom Solutions Group, has partnered with the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory (Managed by CASIS) to develop a mission patch featuring Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket and Groot. This is the making of that mission patch which will represent all ISS National Lab research payloads during the 2016 calendar year.

Funny Fake Trailer for the Film Adaptation of EVERYONE POOPS

Everyone Poops is one of those weird kid books that just kind of took off because it was so ridiculous. Well, as you know, these days lots of children’s books and stories are being adapted into feature films. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll wake up to the news that Everybody Poops is getting an actual movie adaptation.

Until that happens, which seems inevitable, we have a funny fake trailer for the non-existent film that aired as a part of Maya & Marty, which is a variety show that’s hosted by hosted by Maya Rudolph and Martin Short. It imagines the story as a whistleblower thriller where the American government and the people of the country don’t want to believe the truth… that everyone poops.

We Already Knew AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Would Be Two Separate Standalone Films

When Marvel first announced Avengers: Infinity War it was set up as a two-part film. But it was no surprise to learn recently that Avengers: Infinity War would be two different films. The Wrap recently reported that Avengers: Infinity War - Part I will now be a standalone film and the title of that film will be Avengers: Infinity War. They also say that Part II is now being called Untitled Avengers.

People are acting like this is some big surprise, but the fact of the matter is the Russo Bros. already revealed this news a couple of months ago. In a previous interview, director Joe Russo said that the two-part film was a misconception, he said that “The movies are two very different movies.”

When asked if it was misleading having them labeled as Part 1 and Part 2, Anthony Russo said, “It is misleading." The directors planned on the title change all along. Joe added:

“The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it. And, yes, that is a scoop: we will retitle them.”

So now the first film will be called Avengers: Infinity War, which I think was a given. They obviously still haven't figured out a title for the fourth Avengers film yet, but I imagine it will still continue the story that starts with Infinity War. After all, every Marvel film seems to continue the story of The Avengers and its characters. Whether or not it will involve Thanos and the battle against him has yet to be seen.

Both the films will still retain their original release dates in 2018 and 2019. The Russos are expected to start shooting the project this November.

Artist Quentin Chaillet made this adorable and insanely detailed piece of digital art for a piece called "Little Batman." The costume design on this piece is incredible, and there are some close-up shots that you can check out to see all of the wonderful textures of the clothing.

Here is my last work between two freelance jobs ! It's based on the little batman designed by Alberto Varanda. My goal was mainly to improve modeling and texturing clothes , I use Marvelous designer for the clothes, Maya / Zbrush for modeling, some substance painter but mostly tileable textures, and Maxwell Render ! Hope you like it

I included the original character sketch that the piece is based on below.

Trailer for the Disney Animator Documentary FLOYD NORMAN: AN ANIMATED LIFE

A wonderful trailer has been released for an upcoming documentary that revolves around Disney animator Floyd Norman. The doc is called Floyd Norman: An Animated Life, and it offers viewers an intimate journey through the life and career of Norman, who is described as the Forrest Gump of the animation industry and is a Disney legend.

The doc comes from filmmakers Michael Fiore and Erik Sharkey, and it seems to be one of those feel good documentaries. If you have any interest in animation and want a candid, behind the scenes look at what the animation industry is like, then this seems like a doc that you’ll want to check out.

Hired as the first African-American at Disney in 1956, Floyd worked on such classics as SLEEPING BEAUTY and 101 DALMATIANS, to name a few. In 1967, he was hand-picked by Walt Disney to join the story team on THE JUNGLE BOOK. He would later work at Hanna Barbera on many classic cartoons, including SCOOBY DOO. His talents would later take him to Pixar to work on TOY STORY 2 and MONSTERS INC… But on Mr. Norman’s 65th birthday in 2000, Disney HR force-retired him. He struggled with Disney’s decision and refused to leave his “home”.
For the last 16 years, Floyd has “hijacked” a cubicle at Disney Publishing, unpaid, but picking up freelance work when he can. At 81 he continues to have an impact as both an artist and a mentor. As Mr. Norman says  “[He] [plans] to die at the drawing board.”

It hits theaters and On Demand and Digital HD on August 26th, 2016.

Hot Toys recently unleashed a slick looking new Iron Man action figure of Tony Stark's Mark VII, but it’s a sub-zero version that’s all white. I love the all-white look as it gives the armor a cool and badass look.

The Iron Man Mark VII has been a favorite armor among Iron Man fans as many collectors have sought after the original 1/6th scale Mark VII and Hot Toys’ originally designed Mark VII (Stealth Mode Version) collectible figures since their debut. Today Hot Toys is excited to introduce yet another original take on this iconic armor by presenting the new 1/6th scale Mark VII (Sub-Zero Version) Collectible Figure!
The Sub-Zero version Mark VII’s design is inspired by the concept of Tony Stark creating a specialized armor for carrying out missions in the frigid zones with its color scheme acting as camouflage to conceal itself in areas filled with heavy snow.
The exclusive Mark VII (Sub-Zero Version) Collectible Figure is only available in selected markets and features multiple layers and various shades of white and light grey colors on armor with white carbon-fiber like designs, Stark Industries decals at various parts of the armor, LED light-up functions, interchangeable armor parts, and a specially designed white colored dynamic figure stand.
This extremely stylish Sub-Zero version Mark VII collectible figure will be an excellent addition to your Iron Man collection!

Video Supercut of Lex Luthor Making Annoying Sounds

A lot of people didn’t seem to care for Jesse Eisenberg’s version of Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman. I was hoping it would be a good portrayal of the character, but ultimately, I was let down. One of the things that annoyed me most about the character was his ticks and mannerisms. Well, Inside Reviews created a video supercut of all those annoying things that I didn’t like, and it’s ridiculous. Just because you try something different with a classic character like this doesn’t make it good!

MIT Researchers Are Developing 3D Movies Without the Glasses

$

Usually going to a 3D movie is pretty epic, for some people anyway. But for people who already have to wear glasses to see, they don’t find it very pleasing, along with people who can’t stand the feel of 3D glasses on their face. So, what if you could see a 3D movie without those pesky glasses?

MIT researchers have designed a screen that would allow just that. But for now, it’s not market ready.

While the ability to watch 3D movies without glasses already exists, it’s not ready for the big screen yet. The main version for TVs involves tiny “parallax barriers” across the screen that force the viewer’s eyes to see different pixels, which then combine to create the 3D effect.

In order to get this to work on the big screen, the new MIT approach adapts the parallax barrier approach by using a series of mirrors and lenses so that each viewer sees a parallax barrier that works for their particular location.

So, to make this work they have to take into account how much someone moves their head during the actual movie on the screen, which is usually the width of their seat.

This would be a pretty big step in technology and the moviegoing experience. But they still aren’t sure if it’s practical or financially realistic. So let’s hope, someday in the distant future, we'll be able to drive to a glasses-free 3D movie in our flying cars.

J.K. Rowling Says HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Is Harry Potter's Final Story

$

As a Harry Potter fan it was awesome to learn that there was going to be one more Harry Potter adventure told with the two-part play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I imagine that play will one day be adapted into a film, but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

As cool as it is to see a new Harry Potter story, it also comes with some sad news. According to author J.K. Rowling, this is the last Harry Potter story. After this, she is done with the character.

While talking at the premiere of  Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre, Rowling told the press that Harry’s story has been brought a close. This story will pave the way for new stories following new characters. She says:

“[Harry] goes on a very big journey during these two plays and, then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

I don't think this will be the last time we see Harry Potter. I'm sure he'll still show up in future stories but in a smaller role. This is mostly likely just the last one that will focus on him as a main character.

The script for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released last night, so it you want to know what happens in the story, go pick up yourself a copy! The story is set 19 years after the events of the Deathly Hallows, and it follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as well as Harry's son, Albus Severus Potter, and also introduces several new characters. Here's the synopsis:

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

What do you all think about this being Harry Potter's final big story?
