SUICIDE SQUAD Soundtrack Features Eminem, Panic! At The Disco, and CCR

$

In a move that hasn't been done in a DC superhero film for quite a while, Suicide Squad will have a soundtrack separate from the score and it is an OUT THERE mix! Seriously, take a look at this tracklist (via Collider)!

1. Purple Lamborghini – Skrillex & Rick Ross
2. Sucker For Pain – Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons (with Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)
3. Heathens – twenty one pilots
4. Standing In The Rain – Action Bronson & Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys) (feat. Mark Ronson)
5. Gangsta – Kehlani
6. Know Better – Kevin Gates
7. You Don’t Own Me – Grace (feat. G-Eazy)
8. Without Me – Eminem
9. Wreak Havoc – Skylar Grey
10. Medieval Warfare – Grimes
11. Bohemian Rhapsody – Panic! At The Disco
12. Slippin’ Into Darkness – War
13. Fortunate Son – Creedence Clearwater Revival
14. I Started a Joke – ConfidentialMX (feat. Becky Hanson)

One thing you'll notice is that Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" has been swapped for a Panic! At The Disco cover. That will upset a few people. I'm surprised at the sheer amount of rap artists on this soundtrack. Not that I'm complaining, because I like a majority of the music on this list, but it's not at all what I was expecting from this film! What about you?

Orlando Bloom Starring in Chinese Action Thriller S.M.A.R.T. CHASE: FIRE & EARTH

Even though Orlando Bloom has appeared in blockbuster spectacle trilogies like The Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, and Pirates of the Caribbean, I've never really considered him a leading man action star. But this is Hollywood, so perception be damned: he's taking the lead role in a Chinese action thriller that has to have one of the most ridiculous titles of whatever year this ends up coming out: S.M.A.R.T. Chase: Fire & Earth.

ComingSoon has the synopsis:

S.M.A.R.T. Chase: Fire & Earth, which will film in Shanghai, follows Danny Stratton, a washed-up private security agent, who is given the rare opportunity to escort a valuable Chinese antique out of Shanghai, but is ambushed en route. With the safety of the women he loves in jeopardy, Danny has to work with his team of security experts, the S.M.A.R.T., to save her, as a dreadful conspiracy begins to unravel.

I'm sure whatever "S.M.A.R.T." stands for will be sufficiently insane, so I'm kind of looking forward to this as what I'm hoping will be a completely bonkers thriller. The Chinese box office is continually proving to be an extremely powerful force in getting movies made these days, and this is a key example of one that would probably never happen if China wasn't a factor. Julien Seri (Night Fare) is directing, and Bloom will star alongside Jing Tian (Great Wall, King Kong), Leo Wu (The Wonder), Cao Kefan (The Flowers of War) and Liu Enyou. Production starts this August.

Common Set To Star in BLACK SAMURAI TV Series Adaptation

Variety reports rapper/actor Common will be starring in the television adaptation of the '70s book-turned-movie Black Samurai. Check out a trailer for the original film and continue on below:

I'm not familiar with the source material, but I do know Jim Kelly was the man! Those will be big shoes to fill for Common, who on paper has the acting chops to pull it off. The series has yet to land a network, but apparently many are scrambling for the opportunity.

Black Samurai is a secret agent for D.R.A.G.O.N. and a badass one at that. It's hard to tell how they will execute it in the modern era, but I'm really digging the footage I just saw!

I think the show's success will be determined by whatever network lands it. I think it would be cool to see a period piece where it's all set in the '70s, as it's so hard to do modern kung fu shows in America anymore. Perhaps the callback to the blaxploitation era would draw in a large audience? I'm just spitballing here. Do you think Common is the right man for the job?

A hilarious clip has surfaced of Ben Affleck tearing Michael Bay's Armageddon apart on the DVD commentary! I've heard the story before where he questioned the film's plot, but to actually listen to him poke holes through the film as he watches it is just too good! Check out the clip (via Sylvie) below.

STARGATE Producer Gives Update on The Reboot: "It's To Let Us Finish Telling Our Story"

The idea of filmmakers rebooting a franchise in order to finish telling their original story may seem antithetical, but it's exactly what producer Dean Devlin and director Roland Emmerich are planning for Stargate. The duo originally planned for their 1994 movie to be the first part in a trilogy, but, as Devlin says, "because of what happened with the rights and changes at the studio and all kinds of strange things, we never got to do parts two and three.”

Variety sat down with him and asked about his plans for the reboot and why they didn't just take the same approach they did with Independence Day: Resurgence and pick up where they left off:

“It’s not a story that can take place 20 years later. So the only way to really tell that trilogy is to go back from the beginning and start the story all over again. It was taken away from us, and it’s tough to have your children raised by other parents, even if they do a very good job. … For us, it’s not putting down what has been done [the TV shows with which they weren't involved]. It’s to let us finish telling our story."

Devlin says the modern Hollywood studio system is now concentrating on cinematic universes, so they're developing this new reboot with that in mind. Resurgence writers Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods are writing the screenplay for Stargate, and I'm sure fans will be intrigued with how the films will be able to move beyond what Emmerich and Devlin were able to do the first time and to see their intended story finally come to a proper end.

Vera Farmiga Will Take a Trip With Liam Neeson in THE COMMUTER

The Liam Neeson action thriller The Commuter just gained a shadowy new passenger. Deadline reports that actress Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up in the Air) has come on board the new movie, which follows Neeson as a businessman who somehow unwittingly gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy on his commute home. (Yes, this is a real movie.)

Farmiga is playing "a mysterious woman who boards a commuter train and proposes an enticing opportunity to Neeson's character — one that has dire consequences if he accepts." She'll reunite with her Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra, who's also worked with Neeson on movies like Unknown and Non-Stop. The actress is killing it right now on Bates Motel and on the big screen in The Conjuring 2, and I'm hoping she's the major villain in this Hitchcockian mystery because that'd be a fun type of role for her to sink her teeth into.

Watch: 100 Shots From 100 Years of Cinema

This is one of those weird videos that doesn't really qualify as a supercut, and doesn't really qualify as a video essay either. But regardless of categorization, editor Jacob T. Swinney's selection of 100 shots — one from each of the past 100 years of cinema history — is very cool to watch. Added bonus: it played at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. Hans Zimmer's masterful "Time," from the Inception soundtrack, does a lot of the heavy lifting, but Swinney makes some excellent choices here and this is well worth a few minutes of your time. Find a full list of the movies used below:

A journey through the past 100 years of cinema--the most memorable shot from each year (in my opinion). While many of these shots are the most recognizable in film history, others are equally iconic in their own right. For example, some shots pioneered a style or defined a genre, while others tested the boundaries of censorship and filmgoer expectations. If anything, I want this video to be a reminder as to why we all love cinema so much.

Steven Spielberg Hasn't Given Up on Remaking WEST SIDE STORY

$

Two years ago, we wrote about how director Steven Spielberg wanted to remake the classic movie musical West Side Story, but he's churned through so many projects since then, I'd forgotten all about it. But according to a new report, Spielberg himself is still very committed to the project.

Deep in a THR profile on the new filmmaker (whose new movie The BFG is coming out soon), the outlet lists all of Spielberg's upcoming movies — including Ready Player One, Indiana Jones 5, The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara — and dropped the following morsel of information:

There’s a potential remake of West Side Story — which would be a Fox/MGM co-production — for which Tony Kushner is working on a script. Spielberg has dreamt of adapting it ‘for decades,’ securing rights after trying to get them 15 years ago.

Spielberg has Lincoln scriber Tony Kushner hard at work on the screenplay, and The Beard has been trying to make this movie for twenty-plus years, so this isn't just some flight of fancy for him — he's very serious about it. If you've never seen the original 1961 movie, it's a stone cold classic that is in the pantheon of movies you absolutely must see if you have a serious love for cinema. Spielberg has never attempted a remake of a classic movie like this before, so needless to say, I'm extremely curious about his take on the material.

Artist Rob Csiki is the creative mind behind the creation of this fan-made poster for Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange film. It features Benedict Cumberbatch’s version of the character conjuring up a little magic. The artist had this to say in a statement:

Ever since I was a kid I have always been a fan of Doctor Strange and his inter-dimensional exploits as the sorcerer supreme! I wanted to portray Stephen in his sanctum sanctorum, travelling through weird dimensional realities and hidden dangers. Time to "open your mind!"

Man at Arms Forges VOLTRON's Blazing Fire Sword

The blacksmiths of Baltimore Knife have outdone themselves with their latest creation from Man at Arms. They have forged the classic sword from Voltron and made it in a way in which the blade is enveloped by blazing fire. It may be dangerous, but it’s so freakin’ cool! At the end of the video they even have Voltron test it out! Unfortunately, the flames don’t do very well when the sword is in full swinging motion.

Incredible “First Age” Sauron Custom Leather LOTR-Inspired Armor

Damn! You’ve gotta check out this insanely awesome custom-made “First Age” Sauron leather armor inspired by The Lord of the Rings. It was created by Samuel Lee from Prince Armory and the craftsmanship is incredible. When talking about his design, the creator said:

Instead of the typical medieval fantasy spinoff (its already that anyway), this design is more focused on a scenario of what might Sauron’s armor looked like in the first age (Far before the well known 3rd age featured in the Lord of the Rings films). I won’t get into the volume of lore left behind by Tolkien but one thing worth noting is that Sauron himself was a capable artisan and armor smith. Perhaps he would feel at home in this armor.

Hell yeah! I think Lee completely nailed the look and it’s a suit of armor I think even Weta would be excited about.

2 New FAST 8 Featurettes Give Us a Set Tour and “Zombie Cars”

If you’re as pumped up for director F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8 as much as I am, you’re gonna want to check out these two new featurettes for the film. The first is called “Zombie Cars” and it features horde of cars driving off of a parking structure and landing on a bunch of other cars on the street. J.D. Schwalm, Special Effects Supervisor on the film explains:

"We have seven cars falling from the parking structure, and each one of them is aiming at a motorcade here. We have to pull these cars at an exact speed, and we're doing that using the winch on the crane. Each car comes out in succession to land on the vehicles on the road here. Obviously, there's no one in them because they're about to be impaled by 3000-pound lawn darts."

The second video gives us a 15 minute tour of the set by Vehicle Coordinator Dennis McCarthy. He shows off all of the cars being used in the film, which adds up to about $17 million worth in cars.

Fast 8 is in its second week of production and it’s expected to hit US theaters on April 14, 2017.

I’m sure you all remember the image from Iron Man 3 of Tony Stark's Iron Man armor chillin’ on his couch. Well, that exact scene is getting its own exciting action figure, complete with the couch!

The figure and couch playset comes from Comicave studios and it will be available exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con 2016. Here are the details for the action figure:

It is constructed out of 75% diecast metal, will have over 20 points of articulation, will stand about 6″ tall and have LED light up features in the chest and eyes. The Mark 42 Armor will include multiple interchangeable pieces, such as hands and thruster effects pieces. It’s priced at $100.

As for the couch, well…it’s a 1/12 scale couch that comes in an IKEA-inspired box. This is definitely one of the most amusing action figure accessories I’ve seen in awhile.

There’s currently no pricing or post-convention release information that has been revealed.

Amazing 1940s DC Bombshell Hawkgirl Cosplay

You’ve gotta check out this extremely cool DC Bombshell Hawkgirl cosplay by Galacticat. I’m a big fan of the 1940s pin-up-inspired DC Bombshell heroines. The whole thing started as statuettes, which eventually spawned a fun comic series. It’s one of the cooler and more entertaining things DC has come up with in recent years, and Galacticat’s cosplay creation of this Hawkgirl is stunning. Here’s what she had to say about it:

"I love the DC Bombshells line created by Ant Lucia, and all of the designs are fantastic - but there was no question in my mind which one I had to cosplay: Hawkgirl! She's one of my favorite DC characters and I absolutely love her design - especially the creative take on her wings! The jetpack build was a collaboration between my boyfriend and , and it's made from all sorts of materials: PVC pipes, fiberglass, 3D printed pieces, foam, Worbla, and more! I completed the costume for C2E2 2015 and finally got to do a photoshoot a couple months ago. Since her poster is an ad for Thanagar Tree-Top Tours, I was determined to shoot in the woods with a WWII Jeep - and a friend of mine helped make it happen! The photos were taken by CGC Creative."
