WOLVERINE 3 Is Rumored to Be Titled WEAPON X, First Footage Coming to Comic-Con

With X-Men: Apocalypse out of the way, fans are now eagerly awaiting the third and final Wolverine film with Hugh Jackman. It looks like we now have an official title for the film. according to GameZone, and their "reliable" sources, Wolverine 3 will be called Weapon X.

As most of you already know, Weapon X is the name of the secret government genetics research organization in the Marvel universe that captured Logan, took his memories, and grafted adamantium to his skeleton, basically turning him into one of the most lethal mutants ever.

The report goes on to say that the film’s title will be officially revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 and that they will show fan the first footage from the movie along with a poster. So that gives us something cool to look forward to!

The last time we saw Wolverine was in X-Men: Apocalypse when he violently murdered his way through Weapon X as he escaped.  It was one of the best parts of the disappointing movie. Then, during the post-credits scene, we see the Essex Corporation taking possession of Weapon X's data, so having that play out in the upcoming Wolverine film seems to make sense. Two of the villains in the film are a mad scientist and some kind of corporate executive, both of which will most like be involved with the government organization.

The upcoming film is said to be inspired by Mark Millar’s Old Man Logan story arc. This features Logan living in a future world that has been taken over super villains. The movie is gunning for an R-rating, and so far we know that Jackman will be joined by Patrick Stewart and newcomers Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Eriq Lasalle, and Boyd Holbrook.

There is a good amount of other information that has leaked out regarding this film, all of which you can read about right here.

Sebastian Stan Hints at Winter Solider's Involvement with BLACK PANTHER

Sebastian Stan recently made an appearance at Wizard World in Philadelphia with Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie. During their panel, Stan was asked which Marvel Studios film he would like to see Winter Soldier in next. Before he answered he was warned by Evans, "Be careful, man!" followed by Mackie adding, "You're gonna break the internet tomorrow."

Luckily for the fans, the actor went on to talk about Winter Solider and hints that the character could next show up in director Ryan Coogler's Black Panther movie. Stan teased:

"I don't know, man. I mean, there's obviously a very clear answer but I'm not gonna maybe say it, now. Where did he end up at the end of the movie? That's the movie he should be in... I feel like that would be the natural... But I don't know."

As soon as I saw the post-credits scene of Bucky Barnes being put in stasis under the supervision of Black Panther in Wakanda, I immediately felt that he would have to return and jump back into action in Black Panther! It would feel like a natural progression of his character to help out with something in Black Panther. But who knows what Marvel actually has planned for him in the future. We'll just have to wait and see!

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Lupita Nyong'o. It's set for release on February 16th, 2018. Thanks to ComicBook.com.

Bob Odenkirk and Shawn Ryan Team For AMC Miniseries NIGHT OF THE GUN

Shawn Ryan is the man behind solid TV shows like The Shield, Terriers, and The Chicago Code, so I'm always happy to hear about any new project he has in the pipeline. The latest is Night of the Gun, a six-episode miniseries based on the memoir of New York Times journalist David Carr that will star Bob Odenkirk and air on AMC, the network responsible for Odenkirk joints like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Ryan is set to write the series, and he and Odenkirk are executive producing.

Carr, who died in 2015, was a hugely respected journalist who wrote for the NYT for thirteen years. He was a terrific writer who at one point struggled with addiction to crack, and his memoir — "a searing, hysterical look at the demon of addiction and his journey from the crack pipe to esteemed columnist for The New York Times" — and this show will explore that transition. Here's AMC's statement:

“David Carr’s work as a journalist was uncompromising, enlightening, and most of all, always driven by a fundamental quest for the truth. When he turned those skills and values around to focus on his own life as an addict, the result was a stunningly original, compelling and important piece of journalism the likes of which the world had never seen – a simultaneously heartbreaking, funny, and inspirational account that redefined the idea of telling a personal story,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “Shawn Ryan, Bob Odenkirk, and the incredible team behind this have embraced all the things that David would have loved as a storyteller, and crafted a vision for ‘The Night of the Gun’ that we hope will be as timeless as David’s book."

And here's Odenkirk's:

"I read David’s story, ‘The Night of the Gun,’ when it came out and was wildly entertained by his saga. It’s a story of survival filled with pain, crack, journalistic righteousness, abandoned cars, crooks, lies, and then there’s the two little girls who saved his life; it’s overstuffed with humanity. Shawn Ryan is the man to explore this real anti-hero story. I hope to do justice to David’s intellect and his scrappy nature. It’s gonna be crazy… if we do it right."

As a fan of all four things involved in this story — David Carr, AMC, Shawn Ryan, and Bob Odenkirk — I'm very excited to see how this miniseries turns out.

Watch: Video Essay Celebrates BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES

Batman fans of any age can agree that Batman: The Animated Series is one of the most seminal cartoons and coolest explorations of the character ever. The show was hugely influential for me growing up, and I'm still amazed we saw animation and storytelling that was so high quality among some of the other junk that was on TV at the time.

KaptainKristian's new video essay argues that Batman: The Animated Series contains "the quintessential portrayal of The Dark Knight," including elements from practically every incarnation of the character that had appeared until that time and forming its own unique version of Batman. THE MARTIAN'S Mackenzie Davis Joins Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in BLADE RUNNER 2

Blade Runner 2 continues to add to its cast, and the film's latest addition is another former collaborator of Ridley Scott's. Mackenzie Davis, who had a supporting role in Scott's sci-fi movie The Martian, has come on board the Blade Runner sequel, but we aren't sure which character she's playing. Based purely on looks alone, I wouldn't be surprised if her character is related to Robin Wright's. Take a look at this picture from AMC's Halt and Catch Fire — she's a dead ringer for a young Wright.

In any case, she joins Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Ana De ArmasSylvia Hoeks, and Carla Juri in the film, which is being directed by Sicario and Prisoners helmer Denis Villeneuve and shot by legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins. Filming begins this summer, and the movie recently upgraded its release date from January of 2018 to October of 2017, indicating that the studio has some confidence that this is going to be an event movie worth checking out on the big screen. Fingers crossed it turns out well.

I'm always interested in seeing behind-the-scenes videos that include motion capture work. I'm fascinated by the collaboration between actors and the visual effects artists that results in a finished character we see on screen, and it's cool to get a sense of how much each side contributed. Looks like Paramount Pictures feels similarly, because the studio just released a new featurette for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows that reveals some footage of the actors on set in their mo-cap suits, and it's a cool little peek behind the curtain.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows is in theaters right now.

Toby Kebbell Confirms a "Great" Cut of FANTASTIC FOUR Fans Will Never See

$

The failure of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four will make for a fascinating book some day. But whether it was studio interference, Trank's inability to handle the pressure, or some combination of the two, the movie bombed hard at the box office and is now the go-to reference point for godawful superhero movies of the modern age. Immediately after the film opened, Trank tweeted that he had "a fantastic version of this" that "would have received great reviews," but that fans would "probably never see it." Now actor Toby Kebbell, who played Doctor Doom in the movie, has confirmed the existence of that version and agrees with his director. In an interview with The Daily Beast, he said:

“I tell you, the honest truth is [Trank] did cut a great film that you’ll never see,” he said. “That is a shame. A much darker version, and you’ll never see it.”
At least he enjoyed playing Victor von Doom, putting meticulous work into tiny details before his screen time was chopped to pieces. “I spent so long figuring out an accent that was from the mid-Eastern block, generic enough to be a guy who then lived in America. I figured that out,” he grinned.
“Unfortunately,” he continued, “I played Doom in three points: Walking down a corridor, killing the doctor and getting into the time machine, and lying on the bench. They were the only times I played Doom. Everything else was some other guy, on some other day… doing some other thing. I was infuriated that he was allowed to limp like that!”

The idea that Kebbell only played Doom in a limited amount of what we saw in the final movie is new information to me, and only adds to the anguish surrounding that mess of a film. Movies have been saved before — or at least been rendered watchable or fascinating — due to the presence of one actor or the singular vision of a specific performance, and to hear that Kebbell was robbed with that in favor of...whatever the hell it was that ended up on screen is a shame.

The actor added that he's "just as heartbroken as the fans are" at the way the movie turned out. When it was only Trank talking about how his cut of the movie was going to be great, I sort of dismissed that as a jilted director lashing out at his studio, but now that Kebbell is saying the same thing, I'm actually curious to see what Trank's cut looks like. I wonder if Fox would ever release that version? If it's truly better than what they put in theaters, it would be confirmation that some execs screwed up big time, and I can't imagine Hollywood power players opening themselves up to an attack like that, so when all is said and done, I'm guessing Trank is right: we'll probably never see his real vision for Fantastic Four.

Sacha Baron Cohen Reportedly Playing MANDRAKE THE MAGICIAN For GET HARD Director

$

The Tracking Board reports that Borat and The Dictator star Sacha Baron Cohen will be playing the lead role in Warner Bros.' Mandrake The Magician, a film based on the popular comic strip by Lee Falk that was created in 1934.

The story centers around the adventures of Mandrake, the illusionist and escape artist with the power to hypnotize his foes. With his companion Lothar, he travels the globe solving mysteries and fighting evildoers – including his twin brother who uses his powers for evil instead than good. Sources say that the plan is to update the character for the 21st century, with Mandrake being recruited by the United States government for a secret mission.

They're definitely going to have to do some serious updating in regards to the Lothar character, but otherwise it's easy to imagine Cohen in a role like this, especially one with the potential to play both a good twin and an evil one. Etan Cohen, who recently wrote and directed Get Hard and wrote Tropic Thunder, is directing from a script by husband and wife screenwriting team of David Peoples (Blade Runner, Unforgiven) and Janet Peoples (Twelve Monkeys) and Puss in Boots writer Tom Wheeler.

The character, who has been described as “America’s first superhero,” is known as a magician whose work is based on an unusually fast hypnotic technique, through which his subjects see illusions when he “gestures hypnotically.” He uses the technique to defeat villains, including gangsters, mad scientists, extraterrestrials, and characters from other dimensions. He has the ability to turn invisible, shapeshift, levitate, and teleport thanks to the powers imbued to him by the hat, cloak, and wand he inherited from his father.

Even though this is based on a character created in the 1930s, I wonder if people will look at this movie as a satire of Marvel Studios' upcoming Doctor Strange. Any big Mandrake fans out there? What do you think about casting Cohen as the title character?

I had the opportunity to see The Conjuring 2 recently, and if you liked the first movie, you're going to love this sequel. I love this horror film franchise, and once again, director James Wan managed to scare the living shit out of me.

Thanks to Coming Soon, we have a new clip from the film that features an intense scene of a young boy investigating some strange activity involving one of his toys. This is just a little tease of the nightmarish horror that this movie has.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as the Warrens, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

The movie opens up this week on June 10th, and if you're a horror fan, you won't want to miss it!

Duncan Jones on the Challenges of Making WARCRAFT Enjoyable for Gamers and Non-Gamers

$

One of the big challenges that director Duncan Jones and Blizzard had to face with Warcraft was adapting a big screen adaptation that would appeal to both fans of the game and general audiences who had never played it before. That’s not an easy task, because if you go too far into the gaming stuff the audiences won’t connect to it in the same way a gamer would. Then again, if they don’t use the stuff from the game, they’ve just alienated their core audience. They had to find a sweet balance between the two, and I think Jones pulled it off brilliantly.

The story and the narrative of the film is completely faithful to the mythology of the game, but it is also had a very human narrative and a fantastic character-driven story. Duncan gave equal weight to both sides of that story. During the press conference that took place last month ,Jones talked about how he bridged the gap between gamers and non-gamers saying:

“I’m a big fan of Pixar. I love the fact that when Pixar makes a movie, they make a movie that works for kids and that it also works for the parents and it works on two completely different levels. What we were trying to do was make a film that works for the fans on one level and we would bring them into a world that felt like home to them. But then also on another level it just felt like this grand brand new fantasy for people who know nothing about Warcraft. And the ideal situation is where people who know the game and love the game and who go to the movie can bring people who know nothing about it and communicate to them through the movie, ‘this is what I loved about Warcraft, this is the reason I spent night after night staying up and being tired when I went to work the next morning, playing this game. It’s because of this world that you’re getting to experience through the movie.’”

Pixar is a great example to follow for telling stories. They always seem to get it right, and the stories they tell rarely have any weak links. I can see that influence in Jones’ film with the way the characters are presented and how the story is told. Ben Schnetzer, who plays Khadgar in the movie, chimed in and said:

“And also, the game is a phenomenon for a reason. The mythology of the canon is so textured and layered and rich. So I think to have the opportunity to tell these stories for more of a main stream medium in film. It was… if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, you know, it’s all there for us and I think the film is a really good entry point into the mythology and the world of the game.”

The actor who plays Orgrim, Robert Kazinsky, is a huge World of Warcraft fan who has been playing the game for years. As a hardcore fan, he said that he needed the film to be good. He didn’t jump into the project to make a crappy adaptation of something he loves so dearly. He went into make something completely badass! He explained:

“I was terrified because obviously I have a… I needed this film to be good. You know, after 20 years and $10 billion dollars given to Blizzard we deserved a good film. There’s this whole kind of pressure that I’ve upon myself that we would have to deliver something that would be acceptable to me if I were to watch it. I felt that pressure upon myself and then I would go to set and I would see a thousand people that worked on this movie that have given up jobs that paid better, jobs that had a positioning, jobs that some people would go months without work so they could have stayed free just so they could take this job because they were fans, they were passionate about it. And every single one of those people whether it was Duncan all the way down to people like… you’d be amazing by how many people worked on this film who mysteriously actually played the game, all felt that pressure to deliver something that would be, that would represent the hardcore gamer like myself. Then the best way they did that was by telling simply, a great story. You know, we’ve been making movie about Jesus for a long time and he died 2000 years ago, and about ancient Egypt and Cleopatra. A good story’s a good story and this is a great story and by making a great movie about a great story we were servicing the fans like myself. And finally, it wasn’t a film made like you are uncovering what it’s like to play this game. It was a film, it was a great script, great director, great actors making a film. A lot of those other game films have been made to, ‘this is what it’s like to play! Remember when he does this move!’ and it’s like ‘yeah, that’s not what it was like for me to play.’ So you, know, that was the smart thing to do.”

I completely agree with him. Warcraft tells a great story that is set in a fantastical world. I think the reason some people aren't liking the movie is because they can't allow themselves be fully immersed and swept away in the fantasy world that the movie introduces audiences to. It might just be too much for them. I don't know, all I know is that I was swept away in the story that Jones created, and I thought it was awesome.

Lea Thompson Reunites with HOWARD THE DUCK in New Comic

$

Back in 1986, Lea Thompson starred in Marvel's awful big screen adaptation of Howard the Duck. You'd think she wouldn't want to have anything to do with the property ever again after that disaster of a film, but she is reuniting with the character in the upcoming comic Howard the Duck #8.

According to THR, Thompson will be playing herself in the comic, "in a story that harkens back to her role as Howard’s girlfriend Beverly in the 1986 movie." In regards to joining the comic the actress said:

"My career goes into a 100 different directions, and I embrace them all. They asked me to appear in the comic and I was like, ‘Sure, why not?'”

The upcoming comic was written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Joe Quinones, and it focuses on Howard as a private eye and his offbeat cases. The latest story is described as a "doozy," and the reports offers the following description:

Thompson, appearing in the comic as herself, shows up at his door to hire the diminutive duck for a missing persons case. But the missing person is her! It turns out that she has been losing amounts of time over the years and can’t account for her actions or whereabouts. The answer to the mystery ties Thompson to her appearance to the 1986 movie.

According to Zkarsky, they've been planning this two-issue storyline for over a year, and the comic has been building up to this moment since its relaunch.

“We started planning this over a year ago, and a lot of the current storyline has been building toward this appearance, so it makes sense in-story and isn’t just a stunt.

Regardless of how bad the first movie was, Howard the Duck has had a resurgence of popularity thanks to his brief appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. Thompson starred in the film a year after she had her breakout role in Back to the Future, and it was a major flop. The movie has gained a cult following over the years, though. Thompson says:

"So many people have come up to me and said, ‘I’m the only one that will come up to you and say that Howard the Duck was my favorite movie.’ And there have been thousands of these people.”

Zdarsky is one of those fans of the movie, which is why he wanted Thompson to be involved with the comic. When talking about the actress and the film, he said:

“She was at the center of two pivotal movies for me growing up, the one where she sleeps with a duck and the other where she tries to sleep with her time-traveling son. I lived in a small town, and my friend Terry and I would rent the VHS tape over and over…. We both agreed that the titular song played at the end of the movie by Lea’s band Cherry Bomb was the greatest song ever, so we used a microphone to record it from our TV speakers so we could listen to it whenever we wanted.”

Thompson didn't really care for the movie at all, and she said that it was "painful." But after going through the experience she admits:

"Things that seemed bad had turned out to be good in the end. It was a pretty demented movie, though.”

Howard the Duck #8 hits comic book stores on Wednesday.

GHOST IN THE SHELL Set Photos Show Scarlett Johansson as The Major and Pilou Asbæk as Batou

Thanks to some photos from the Hong Kong set of the upcoming live-action Ghost in the Shell movie, we can take a new look at  Scarlett Johansson in the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi as well as Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones) in the role Batou, complete with his white flattop hairdo. The photos were taken in an outdoor marketplace setting.

Regardless of the casting controversy surrounding Johansson, I'm still curious to see how this movie turns out, and as a long time fan of the anime and manga, I can't help be a little excited. As long as they have a script and story as solid as what we've previously seen done with the property, then the movie should turn out to be solid.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Rupert Sanders is currently directing the film, which is also shooting in New Zealand. Ghost In The Shell is set for release on March 31st, 2017. There are a total of eight photos in the embed below for you to check out.

Josh Brolin Says He Was "Blown Away" by the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Story

The big bad Marvel villain Thanos has been lurking in the shadows in the MCU just waiting to strike and unleash hell on the universe since he was teased at the end of the first Avengers movie. That time is upon us, and the fury of the Mad Titan will explode in the two Avengers: Infinity War films.

The movies are said to be bringing in a ton of characters from the MCU which will include members of the Avengers and members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. While speaking with Moviefone, Josh Brolin, the actor who plays Thanos, revealed that the whole story of the two films were revealed to him recently and it blew him away. Here's what he said:

“Yeah, I sat at a table and I listened to the story from beginning to end, which was … you know, sometimes you go around and you go, 'Oh, it’s a great movie. Or this is a great experience,' and you kind of know that it’s not. This is the opposite…These stories … these Avengers stories all come down to this conclusion, and that’s our involvement. Basically, my character against everybody. And it’s really fun what they’ve chosen to do with the story. I think it’s brilliant, personally. I was blown away, and had goose pimples pretty much 50% of the time that I was listening to what was going on, and pretty amazed that I’m going to be involved in it. So it’s a big thing that’s coming up.”

I was already excited for the film, but hearing Brolin talk about it like this definitely turns up the heat. I can't wait to see what Marvel and directors Joe and Anthony Russo are planning for this story arc! It sucks that we have to wait until 2018 to see it.

Production on the two Infinity War films start in November of this year, and they will be shooting in Atlanta, Georgia. Both films will be shot back-to-back. For all of our news updates on Avengers: Infinity War, click here.

Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are writing the two features which and they will be shot entirely in IMAX. Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is set for a release in theaters on May 4th, 2018 and Part 2 will hit on May 3rd, 2019. It's such a long time to wait!

FULLER HOUSE Netflix Series Had Bigger Ratings Than THE WALKING DEAD

$

Regardless of how painfully awful the Full House revival series Fuller House was, it apparently exploded in the ratings! According to Symphony Advanced Media's ratings, Netflix's Fuller House was such a huge hit that it was bigger than shows such as The Walking Dead and Sunday Night Football.

What?! Really? I knew Full House had a pretty big fanbase, but the fact that the revival was bigger than The Walking Dead and Sunday Night Football is kinda shocking. I didn't expect that.

Symphony Advanced Media has its own methodology to measure viewership on streaming services like Netflix and Amazon. As you know, both streaming services refuse to release ratings on their own, so someone's gotta do it!

According to the report, "Fuller House episodes averaged 14.4 million viewers among adults 18-49 within its first 35 days of its Netflix premiere date (Feb. 26). That’s the equivalent of a 10.4 rating in the demo. That would put Fuller House at No. 1 among all TV series for the entire year."

To put things in perspective even more, if you were just counting the first seven days after Fuller House was launched, "it still attracted 10 million viewers in the 18-49 viewer demo. That puts it just below The Walking Dead, which averaged a 9.6 rating – translating to 12.1 million viewers in the demo."

Now it makes sense as to why Netflix ordered a second season of Fuller House. Doesn't matter if the show sucked, a ton of people watched it!

One of Netflix's other most-watched shows was the documentary series Making a Murderer, which "garnered a 9.7 rating with adults 18-49 (translating to 13.4 million viewers in the demo) in its first 35 days of availability — which, again, would make it one of the most-watched programs among broadcast, cable and streaming over the past season."

What are your thoughts on Fuller House being as big a hit as it was?

Jason Bourne is one of my most anticipated films of the year. The Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon action thriller looks freakin' awesome, and today we have a great new TV spot to share with you. The spot is action-packed and features a good amount of exciting new footage of Bourne being hunted and kicking ass.

The story finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows, and he's ready to fight for his life again. This could very well be the best Bourne movie yet! As you'll see, it's definitely going to deliver the goods.

Damon is joined by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, and Tommy Lee JonesJulia Stiles also reprises her role as Nicky Parsons in the series. Jason Bourne will kick ass in theaters on July 29, 2016. I can't wait to see this!

There's a little more than a month left until Paul Feig's Ghostbusters hits theaters, so the marketing campaign is revving up. Sony Pictures has just released a new featurettes for the film that introduce us to the four leading ladies and the brand new version of the classic movie car, the Ecto-1. I haven't been super impressed with the comedic aspects of the trailers I've seen so far, but I love the cast, the visual effects look amazing, and the production design is awesome, so I'm hoping this ends up as one of the summer's best movies.

Ghostbusters arrives on July 15, 2016.
