Adam Driver and Michael Palin Join Terry Gilliam’s THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE

Terry Gilliam is never going to give up trying to make his passion project, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. This is a project that he’s so passionate about that he’s willing to take on whatever torture that hell has to throw at him to get it made. Over the years, several actors have been involved with the project including Johnny Depp, Jean Rochefort, Ewan McGregor, Robert Duvall, Jack O’Connell, and John Hurt.

The project is set to move forward again, and this time there are two new actors attached to star in it. Those actors aree Adam Driver (The Force Awakens) and Michael Palin, who is one of Gilliam's old Monty Python collaborators. Both these actors will be great in the two lead roles of the film. Hopefully, the production actually goes through this time!

Thanks to Flickreel we have an updated story description for the project that you can read below:

There was a time when Toby was a young film student full of ideals. So he decided to shoot a film adapted from the story of Don Quixote in a pretty Spanish village.
But those days are gone and now Toby is an arrogant publicist, libidinous and jaded. Money and glitter have corrupted him, and while he is in Spain where he finishes filming an ad, he has to juggle with his boss’s wife – Jacqui – a calamitous weather, and his own ego. This is when a mysterious gypsy comes to find him with an old copy of his student film: Toby is upset and decides to go in search of a little village where he had made his first work a long time ago. He discovers with horror that his little film has had terrible effects on this quiet place. Angelica, the girl full of innocence, became a high-class call girl; and the old man who played Don Quixote lost his mind, convinced in his delusion of being the real “Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance.”
A series of incidents lead to a fire that threatens to destroy the village. Wanted by the police, Toby is “saved” by the old fool who takes him for his faithful squire Sancho, and drives on the roads in search of his perfect wife, Dulcinea.
During this journey, Toby will face demons, real and imaginary, modern and medieval. Damsels will be saved, jousts will be completed, and giants will be killed!
Reality and fantasy merge in this strange journey, until a spooky ending.

The movie is set to start shooting in the autumn. Maybe this time it will work out better than the first time Gilliam tried to make this movie. You can watch that beautiful disaster go down in the documentary Lost in La Mancha.

Duncan Jones on Where His WARCRAFT Movie Trilogy Is Headed

Director Duncan Jones previously confirmed that his soon to be released Warcraft film is the first installment of a trilogy that they have put into motion. Having seen this film, it’s easy to see where the story for the entire trilogy is headed. It does a great job setting everything up, and it will be awesome to see the story that Jones started continue over the course of the next couple of films.

During the Warcraft press conference that I attended, Jones was asked to say something about the trilogy and where his story is headed. As you might imagine, he didn't go into any crazy details, but he did offer up the following tease:

“You don’t make films this big and not hope that you’re going to get the chance to make maybe one or two more. I know Chris Metzen, who works at Blizzard and myself have talked about, if we have the chance to make a trilogy, what would story be? And what we set up in this film, I think, I don’t think I’m spoiling anything by saying… The Orcs had a home, they lost their home. Duratan, who’s chieftain of the Frost Worlds has tried to bring his people somewhere to give them a new home. At the end of this movie they don’t quite have that new home yet. I would hope by the end of the trilogy we know where the Orcs are going to live.”

I really do hope that Warcraft does well enough at the box office that Jones and Blizzard can tell the rest of their story. I’m not allowed to say much about the film at the moment, but I’m excited to see what fans of the game think of this movie after it’s released. When talking about the film, story, and how it relates to the classic game previously, Jones explained:

“The story is obviously a retelling of the tale of Warcraft one. The video game Warcraft one orcs and humans. We, many years ago novelized that story in a book called The Last Guardian. So in that novelization the lore was buffed a little more. You gotta remember guys, back in 1994 when War one came out story telling for games, you can argue this today still, I guess, but it was super crude. You had like a page of text in-between each mission. It was really hard to tell a story in gaming, it was super crude. So with the novelization we got to kinda plus the mythology, and kind of build out these characters more and more, and really once Duncan came on, we were very clear we wanted to do a movie about this timeline about this conflict since it’s such a, since its the point of commonality between the two franchises, or sorry, the two factions that make the franchise work witch is alliance and horde. This is where it all begins. So in looking at this story in terms of a script and what capable you can shoot, what you can literally build a story around for film. The mythology grew a little more, we made some kind of tactical calls to simplify certain themes or ideas, and really just make it work as a film. So it is not, there’s literally nothing to base it on. The game was crude and old, although I love it, I hope I didn’t sound like I’m… there’s no one left alive that worked on Warcraft one… so, you know, it’s kind of, I always like to call it, kind of… it’s the ultimate version of Warcraft one, I mean that like Ultimate Spider-Man where it’s all the greatest hits. it’s all the beats it needs, it’s all the right characters, and right kind of chemistry, but it’s streamline, it’s cleaner, it’s better, it’s sharper.”

Warcraft hits theaters on June 10th, 2016. If you're a fan of the game or fantasy films in general, you have to see this movie!

New Trailer for GHOSTBUSTERS Shows More Ghostly Villains

Director Paul Feig's new Ghostbusters movie seems to have been getting a lot of hate from the fans. The first trailer that was released for the film ended up being one of the most disliked trailers on YouTube ever. That's not a positive boost of confidence. Even actress Melissa McCarthy said that the first trailer was confusing.

Well, today we have a brand new trailer to try and make up for that last one. It features more footage of the ghostbusters team and shows off some of the ghost creatures that they will be fighting including the big bad villain. It also offers a some more information regarding the story.

I doubt this new trailer will change the minds of audiences who didn't like the first trailer, though. The trailer was also released on Twitter instead of YouTube. I imagine that's because they didn't want the same kind of hate from YouTube users. Twitter has a different kind of audience that might be kinder to the movie.

The movie stars McCarthy as Abby Yates, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman, Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan, and Chris Hemsworth as their secretary. All of the surviving original Ghostbusters are confirmed to have cameos in the film as well. Ghostbusters will be released on July 15th.

I've got a trailer for you to watch for an indie sci-fi film called 2307: Winter's Dream. The movie is like a post-apocalyptic Mad Max film only this one is set on a frozen wasteland. The movie was written and directed by the Academy Award-nominated writer of Blue Valentine, Joey Curtis. The story follows a soldier who is sent on a mission to hunt down the leader of a humanoid rebellion. It's a high concept story, and it looks like the creative team who made the film pulled off something pretty awesome. Here's the synopsis:

The year is 2307 A.D. The earth is frozen over and virtually uninhabitable. The manmade Chimeric Virus wiped out over 75% of the population. The remaining humans live underground, unable to survive the sub-arctic temperatures. With no “man power,” scientists bio-engineered Humanoids that possess great strength, speed, and tolerance to extreme cold. A rogue humanoid named ASH-393 escapes from captivity and threatens to lead a humanoid rebellion against mankind. Arizona Federation leader, General Trajan, sends an elite team of Spartan 7 soldiers to hunt down and terminate ASH. Decorated veteran humanoid killer, Commander Bishop, will lead the team and face his greatest foe.

2307: Winter's Dream is currently seeking distribution at Cannes Film Festival. I'm sure it will eventually be released in some form, and I'm definitely interested in checking it out.

Watch Margot Robbie's AMERICAN PSYCHO Morning Routine Video for Vogue

watch-margot-robbies-american-psycho-morning-routine-video-for-vogue

Here's a fantastically entertaining video that features Margot Robbie recreating Patrick Bateman’s morning routine scene from the cult favorite film American Psycho. The parody video is a shot-for-shot recreation that was perfectly executed by directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, the filmmaking team behind Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity 4. It was released by Vogue and fans of Robbie and American Psycho are sure to enjoy it.

What does it take to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading ladies? Australian-born Margot Robbie has an idea: for starters, a studied beauty routine so precise it borders on psychopathic. See the 25-year-old discuss the importance of being born with a six-pack and the beautifying powers of placenta cream in this American Psycho–spoofing original short directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost.

One of my favorite parts of the video includes a shot of a fake script for a movie called Harley Quinn v Harley Davidson, written by Akiva Goldsman. This obviously isn't real, but I'd be interested in seeing that film! I also included the original scene from American Psycho with Christian Bale for you to watch below if you want to compare the two.

Robert Kirkman Has His WALKING DEAD Ending Planned Out

It’s hard to believe that one day Robert Kirkman’s Walking Dead comic book series will come to an end. It’s been around for so long, and the stories for the characters just keep getting deeper and deeper and more intense. It’s good to know that it’s all leading somewhere, though. the writer and creator recently revealed that he knows exactly how the series will end.

During a recent Reddit AMA to promote his upcoming series Outcast, a fan asked Kirkman if he already had an end for The Walking Dead planned out in his head. This was Kirkman’s response:

"Yes, but y'know... It's not happening for a long, LOOOOOONG time."

Why is this brief comment important? Because any good storyteller knows that knowing your ending is important. It’s what guides the story. Starting a story with no end in mind can be disastrous. That’s exactly what happened with the TV series Lost. The creators and writers of that show had no idea how they would end it! This tells us that Kirkman is going to give fans the solid ending they deserve when it finally comes to that point in the distant future.

There’s a lot of fan speculation out there that the series will end with Carl Grimes leading a group of people into a hopeful future. But no one knows for sure. During the same Q&A Kirkman teased Rick’s death. When asked if Rick would ever die, Kirkman responded, “eventually.”

We know Rick’s death is inevitable, we just don’t know exactly when or how it will happen. For a man of his stature, I hope he goes out in a powerful way that matters. I can’t help but think he will gloriously and selflessly go out sacrificing himself for someone he loves.

How would you want to see The Walking Dead come to an end?

San Fransisco Comic Con has released the official poster for their upcoming event. It's a charming, Norman Rockwell-inspired piece that was created by artist Julian Tedesco. The poster includes Rey, BB-8, Conan, Deadpool, and Batman, a quartet of heroes who seem to be singing their hearts out.

Trailer Description For The New Superman-Inspired Series KRYPTON

trailer-description-for-the-new-superman-inspired-series-krypton

It looks like the SyFy Channel is getting ready to start promoting their upcoming Superman-inspired series Krypton. Screenwriter David Goyer previously talked about the series saying that the story is set 200 years before Man of Steel takes place, "before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized." It follows "the Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known."

There's a teaser trailer for the series that has been developed, and thanks to IGN we have a description of what it entails. A pilot for the series was just ordered, and there has been footage shot just for this teaser, but it seems to nicely set up the series and it sounds like it could get fans excited for what's to come. Here's the description of the promo:

The teaser begins in space, and we see the familiar House of El "S" symbol, backed by green. As the camera continues through space, a voice over begins to ask what remains when a civilization dies, pondering if their art and culture are remembered after it’s all gone. As we hear these words, it becomes clear we are flying through the debris from Krypton after it has blown up. We see some green rocks, indicating Kryptonite, hurtling past.
As the camera speeds up through space, we hear the voice over note that while the death of a civilization means great loss, “This is not the story of how our world died. This is the story of how we lived.”
We then see a quick montage of images set on Krypton, which seemed to be taken from the early scenes in Man of Steel, including some of the creatures seen in that film. We also see a couple of Kryptonian characters facing off (a man and woman), in what looks to be footage shot just for the teaser – no one has been cast in the pilot as yet, so these are likely not all indicative of how the final characters will look or who will play them.

The promo ends saying that Krypton will be coming in 2017. I don't know if SyFy will ever release this footage as it screened recently at the NBC Universal upfronts advertising event. I'm looking forward to seeing how the series turns out, though! There's a lot of potential and a lot of things the creative team can play with in telling this story.

ThinkGeek is at it again trying to make you "that guy" at the workplace. It's not like you care about all that, though! I for one would love to own this Borg Cube coffee cup, but don't think I drink enough coffee to justify it. If you do, it's only about thirteen bucks! Not bad considering you're wielding the ultimate power of the Borg. All that power aside, it isn't dishwasher or microwave safe, so keep that in mind!

JOHN WICK Virtual Reality Game Releasing This Year

Warner Bros. Restructures Its Executives and Makes Geoff Johns a Much Bigger Part of The DCEU

$

Whether you're a defender of the movie or not, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was a big disappointment to the executives at Warner Bros. The mostly negative response from both critics and audiences took the company by surprise, and since the film's release, we've been hearing about some small changes they've made to hopefully get back on track: they made Ben Affleck an executive producer on Justice League, parted with Seth Grahame-Smith on The Flash in order to find a more experienced director, they have a more lighthearted Booster Gold movie in the works, did heavy reshoots on Suicide Squad to improve the ending, and just yesterday they announced a Harley Quinn/female-centric spinoff. But now the biggest change of all has occurred: a shakeup at the executive level, which means that the studio is really taking this problem seriously and legitimately making strides toward doing something about it.

THR has the details, which include a restructuring of duties for execs, who will now handle specific "genre streams" instead of oversee the studio's entire film slate:

Courtenay Valenti, for example, will now oversee all Lego projects as well as the Harry Potter line that begins with November's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Senior production execs Jesse Ehrman and Niija Kuykendall will focus more on comedy/family and sci-fi/action, respectively, according to sources.

But the change you're probably most interested in comes with the formation of a new division called DC Films, which will be co-run by executive VP Jon Berg and DC's Creative Operations Officer Geoff Johns, who is still co-writing the standalone Batman film with Affleck. Berg was already in charge of BvS, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League, but now he'll have Johns' help in guiding these and future DC projects to the big screen. That's great news for fans of these iconic comic book characters, since Johns knows them incredibly well (in addition to his new duties, he's launching Rebirth on the comics side of DC Entertainment). Many are comparing this duo to WB/DC's version of Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, and if there's anything the DCEU movies desperately need right now, it's strong leadership from someone who has a clear understanding of the characters.

I think DC movie fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief, because it seems as if their favorite properties are finally in good hands.

Space Ghost is getting his own Funko Pop this summer! There's no exact release date other than sometime this coming season, but I'm for sure picking this one up. I was never too big a fan of the original show, but I do love me some Space Ghost Coast To Coast! Ideally, if they did an exclusive one where Space Ghost was holding a coffee mug, I would prefer that more! Can we get a Brak, Zorak, and Moltar as well?

Comedy trio The Lonely Island is back with Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, their film follow-up to Hot Rod (not a sequel, just their second directorial effort as a group). Andy Samberg stars as Connor4Real, a singer/rapper who has to grapple with what to do after his sophomore album flops. I've heard from some people who have seen super early screenings that the movie is hilarious, so I have high hopes for it.

Check out the new poster (above) and some newly-released images (below), as well as the brand new trailer. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping hits theaters on June 3, 2016.

Hayley Atwell Snorts Cocaine in Trailer For New ABC Show CONVICTION

$

ABC had a deal in place with actress Hayley Atwell to star in a new show called Conviction before the network recently decided to cancel Agent Carter. So one can assume that some executive in charge of making major decisions at the company saw footage from the new show and liked it so much that they decided to officially kick Agent Carter to the curb. Now Conviction has its first trailer and we can decide for ourselves whether that seems like a fair trade.

Yikes. Looks like your typical generic case-of-the-week drama, and is it just me, or is anyone else getting a Serial (season 1) vibe from the story of the guy who supposedly killed his girlfriend? That podcast was far from the first time a situation like that came up, but I can't help but wonder if its popularity might have had some influence on that storyline. This isn't a show I would ever watch, but that probably means it'll end up being one of the most-watched shows on network television or something crazy like that. I obviously wish Atwell all the best, but it's a bummer that Agent Carter fans won't get to see her continue to kick ass in a beloved role she owned so well.

THE MARTIAN's Andy Weir, Simon Kinberg, and Ridley Scott Reunite For New Movie

$

20th Century Fox scored big with last year's The Martian, Ridley Scott's hit sci-fi film that earned a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars. The studio is apparently looking to recapture lightning in a bottle, because Deadline reports that they've acquired an untitled pitch from author Andy Weir (who wrote the ebook on which The Martian was based) and they've hired Scott and producer Simon Kinberg to produce. Drew Goddard wrote the screenplay for The Martian, but Weir himself will handle those duties this time around. It's unclear whether Scott also plans to direct this movie in addition to producing, and I suspect it'll come down to what his schedule looks like when this project gets to the stage where it's ready to begin filming.

There aren't any official details about what this new film's story will entail, but I think it's fair to assume it'll be based on Weir's next book, which will have a female lead. He loosely described the plot to Smithsonian recently:

The book is another scientifically accurate story. The main character is a low-level criminal in a city on the moon. Her challenges are a mix of technical/scientific problems, as well as juggling personal interactions—staying a step ahead of the local police, working with shady and dangerous people to do illegal things.

Sounds pretty cool to me. Scott, Kinberg, and Goddard are reuniting for a western thriller called Wraiths of the Broken Land (which I'm very excited about; you can read about that project here), so it seems like all of these guys are pleased with their working relationship. Let's hope this new story is deserving of their combined talents.

I'm not entirely sure if MAD Magazine is synonymous with geek culture, but I do know a lot of geeks (myself included) grew up reading it. In a way, I feel like their parodies helped shaped my interest in movies and made me aware of things I would've been completely oblivious to at my age. The Gothamist helped me pseudo-complete a bucket list goal of mine by hosting a virtual tour of the offices with Idiot-in-Chief John Ficarra. Cary Fukunaga May Direct Stanley Kubrick's NAPOLEON Passion Project For HBO

$

Stanley Kubrick was a one-of-a-kind talent that will never be duplicated. However, the man died before he made all the films he wanted to make — specifically his dream project Napoleon, which he said was not only going to be his best work, but the best movie ever. This would be a rather bold statement for some, but it was a solid promise from a guy who had the skills and talent to fulfill on that.

Since 2013, Steven Spielberg has been trying to bring Kubrick’s story of Napoleon Bonaparte to HBO in the form of a mini-series. Director Baz Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby) was interested in the project, but nothing came of that. Now we are hearing that someone else might be taking on the series. That someone is Cary Fukunaga, the same talent who brought us the first season of HBO's True Detective

The news came from a Stanley Kubrick retrospective which was held at De Montfort University in Leicester, England. Kubrick’s brother-in-law and executive producer, Jan Harland (The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut), was in attendance and Harland revealed that Fukunaga would direct the entire six-hour miniseries. Stanley Kubrick and Me author Filippo Ulivieri was there and he's the one that posted the story on his Tumblr page. He also revealed that David Leland (Mona Lisa) wrote the most recent draft of the script

Fukunaga has been an extremely sought-after director since he directed the entire first season of True Detective. Fukunaga has a very unique eye and is often able to tell more of a story through his shots than the actors are in them. I think that the team of Spielberg and Fukunaga could be legendary. We will keep you informed on any developments of this project as they come out.

Most critics of anime regard Evangelion as among the best of the best when it comes to the genre. This is due to its engaging story, great themes, and stunning visuals. Until now, I never heard much about the use of direction in animating the series. Watching this really gives you an appreciation for the work that goes into animation.
