This Death Star Fire Pit Was Created By a High School Welding Class

this-death-star-fire-pit-was-created-by-a-high-school-welding-class

This isn’t the first Star Wars-inspired Death Star fire pit that we’ve seen, but it’s definitely one of the best. This version was created by a high school welding class and the look is incredibly cool. This one has a much cleaner and more polished look than the fire pit we posted over a year ago.

This fire pit was auctioned off and the winner ended up giving it to a Redditor by the name of alphacodemonkey as a gift. So that was pretty cool of him. That’s one hell of an awesome gift! With something like this, you really gotta make sure you heat up that thermal exhaust post for it to work properly.

Trailer For HERE ALONE, a Post-Apocalyptic Survival Thriller

It doesn’t seem like post-apocalyptic zombie films will be going away anytime soon. In fact, there seems to be a good amount of independent films that use this as the basis for their stories. Here Alone seems to be one of these films, but it looks and sounds like it will be a good one. The movie recently won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, so that’s gotta say something about it. We now have a trailer for you to watch and it definitely sparked my interest.

After a terrible virus ravages human civilization, Ann finds herself living alone in a forest, foraging for supplies, and accompanied only by a radio that broadcasts a single transmission in French. Few animals even remain; the only survivors seem to be the roving hordes of infected creatures with a taste for human flesh. One fateful day, Ann crosses paths with two more survivors, Chris and Olivia. But after surviving on her own for so long, she struggles to relate to them and and their desire to settle down and start a new community. As Ann tells Chris, "Those who stay, die."

The movie was directed by Rod Blackhurst, who is a former ski racer that wanted to be a filmmaker. Here Alone stars Lucy Walters, Gina Piersanti, Adam David Thompson and Shane West. There’s no word on when the movie will be released.

Rap Battle Trailer For Disney's ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING Will Make Your Eyes Roll

0

Disney has released a new trailer for their upcoming TV movie remake of the classic 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting. I loved that original movie mostly because, as I've previously stated, I had a crush on Elisabeth Shue

Disney's upcoming remake looks horrendously awful. The story follows two babysitters, who are played by Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) and Sofia Carson (Disney’s Descendants). They go on an adventure through the city looking for one of the kids that they’re supposed to be taking care of.

The trailer features the two characters who find themselves on stage in a club in some kind of freestyle rap battle and it’s just one of the worst things ever. My kids are going to want to watch this, but I think I’ll just show them the original film instead.

In Adventures in Babysitting, a dull evening for two competing babysitters, Jenny (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola (Sofia Carson), turns into an adventure in the big city as they hunt for one of the kids who somehow snuck away. Written by Tiffany Paulsen (“Nancy Drew), it will be directed by John Schultz (Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer, Like Mike) and executive-produced by Michelle Manning (Teen Beach 2, The Breakfast Club).

Adventures in Babysitting premieres on the Disney Channel on Friday, June 24th.

FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF Reimagined as an Intense Thriller in Fan Trailer

Ferris Bueller Must Die is a fan trailer that reimagines the 1980s John Hughes classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as a dark and intense film. The trailer was cut together by supercutonline and it’s stylized in an old-school retro VHS way that makes it even more fun.

I love Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s one of those movies that I grew up watching all the time on VHS. When I was in high school I made sure to have my own Ferris Bueller-style adventure and ditched school with two of my best friends to embark on a wild journey. I even filmed the whole thing!

Anyway, it’s amusing seeing this classic reimagined as a thriller. Thanks to creator Nick Barton for sending this to us!

John Krasinski Set to Star in Amazon’s JACK RYAN TV Series

0

John Krasinski has been cast in the role of Jack Ryan in a new Amazon TV series based on the Tom Clancy character. The series is being developed by Carlton Cuse, who previously brought us shows such as Lost, Bates Motel, and The Strain. The news comes from Variety, who says that the actor has been Cuse’s number one choice to for the character since he started developing the project.

I think Krasinski is a solid choice, especially after seeing him in Michael Bay’s action thriller 13 Hours. He's a good actor who has proven that he can also play a badass. Speaking of which, Bay is producing the Jack Ryan series through his Platinum Dunes production company.

Krasinski will be the fifth actor to portray Tom Clancy’s iconic character. Ryan has previously been played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and, most recently, Chris Pine. Ford's version of the character is by far my favorite. Baldwin was pretty good, but Affleck and Pine just didn’t really do anything for the character at all. It will be interesting to see what Krasinski brings to the role.

The Jack Ryan series landed a series commitment at Amazon, but there’s no word on how many episodes it will get. As a longtime fan of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan book series, I’m looking forward to seeing how this series turns out.

Badass Maschinen Krieger-Themed Killer Stormtrooper Warrior

Just in case you’ve never heard of "Maschinen Krieger," it’s an alternate universe that was created in the '80s by Kow Yokoyama. It’s a big thing with model makers because the world is filled with characters created by kit-bashing model designing. This is exactly what model-maker Kunho Noh did with this Stormtrooper. This guy is completely badass, and it looks like he could do some pretty hardcore damage to the rebellion.

It Sounds Like There’s Big Trouble with The DC Film Projects at Warner Bros.

0
0

Last week, news broke that The Flash movie director Seth Grahame-Smith dropped out of the film project due to creative differences with Warner Bros. I’m actually OK with that for the fact that I’m not the biggest fan of what Grahame-Smith has done in the films he’s been involved with. I have always felt that The Flash should have had a better director.

The script for the movie was written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street), and Ezra Miller is set to play the Scarlet Speedster. We got our first look at the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing how this solo film turns out.

There seems to be more to the story than just Grahame-Smith dropping out of The Flash, though. According to Birth.Movies.Death, there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes at the studio than is being revealed. According to their inside sources, a lot of issues are coming up with the upcoming slate of DC films.

The studio is reportedly “at odds” with Zack Snyder over Justice League, which he’s currently directing. The outlet says there have been “lots of fights between Snyder and the WB execs, and lots of pressure from Burbank on Snyder, who is shooting in London.” I’m not really that surprised by this news due to how Batman v Superman was received by audiences and critics. There’s really not much that the studio can do now because the film is already in production.

If this is all really true, you may be asking yourself why WB doesn't just pull the plug? It sounds like the studio is already so deep in the shit with Snyder that pulling the plug at this point and starting over would be a mess. They already started down this crazy path to bringing the DC universe to life, and they are determined to follow through with it regardless of how the films turn out.

That’s not all, though! There’s more discouraging news. The report goes on to say that Aquaman director James Wan could be the next filmmaker to bail on the studio over “creative differences.” They say that ”Wan is feeling a tremendous amount of trepidation about Aquaman...Aquaman needs Wan, and right now Wan is trying to decide if he needs that hassle."

That’s a shame to hear. I was actually really excited to see what Wan would do with the character. Hopefully he doesn’t end up dropping out of the project. If he does, then it’s proof that there is definitely trouble brewing over at Warner Bros. Wan can do anything he wants at this point, though, so if he did drop out maybe he could just focus his time and energy on developing Robotech!

What’s interesting about all this is that we’ve heard a few times from Snyder that the studio supports the filmmakers and allows them the freedom to do their own thing to bring these stories to life. But if all these rumors end up being true, then that obviously isn’t actually the case. It seems like Warner Bros. is making things more difficult for their filmmakers.

I'm curious to see how this all shakes out. In the end, no matter how good or bad these movies turn out to be, audiences and fans will still flock to see them because they are big DC properties. I think that's what WB is counting on.

Karl Urban Says "Conversations Are Happening" for a DREDD Series!

0
0

Last week Karl Urban said that he would love to be involved with a Dredd series on Netflix or Amazon. Well, it looks like there's actually a chance that the story of Dredd could continue on Netflix!

Urban showed up as a guest at Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, and the topic of Dredd came up during his panel. While talking about a follow-up series to Dredd, Urban said that “conversations are happening.”

Conversations with who?! Is Urban conversing with director Pete Travis, writer Alex Garland, and the producers about bringing Dredd to one of these streaming services? Or are they actually having conversations with Amazon and Netflix?!

Whomever the conversations are with, I hope they continue until Dredd gets a series greenlight somewhere!

Ben Affleck's Solo BATMAN Film Is Going to be "Crammed" with Villains

0
0

I am a big fan of how Ben Affleck's Batman turned out in Dawn of Justice. He is a completely badass version of the character, and I'm extremely excited to see what Affleck does with the hero in the solo film he's currently developing. It was recently revealed that the actor/director will have full creative control of the film, which I think is a great thing.

We've heard rumors in the past that the new movie would be based on A Death in the Family and Under the Hood comic arcs, but according to Birth.Movies.Death., that's not necessarily the case. In this version of the story, the Jason Todd version of Robin is killed and then returns from the dead as a vengeful villain. The site doesn't claim to know who the main villain in the new Batman movie will be, but they do know that the film will be packed full of villains from Batman's rogue gallery. According to their inside source:

"Many, if not most, members of Batman's rogue's gallery will be making appearances in the film. It's going to be crammed with Bat villains, which means that just about every major bad guy you've ever wanted to see in a movie will be in this movie. According to my sources Affleck and Geoff Johns, who has been working with him on the film, want to make the definitive Batman film. They want to tell the ultimate Batman story, and to do so they're going to bring in all the big guns. They're going to have a big, sprawling Bat universe already in place."

Damn! It should be interesting to see how all of these villains are actually utilized. When we meet Batman for the first time in this universe in Dawn of Justice, Batman is worn battered from already battling villainous insanity in Gotham City. Will these villains come back to haunt him in some way in the new movie? I can't help but think that most of them are in Arkham Asylum. These villains could just be cameos, but if Affleck and the studio are looking to really play with all of these villains, maybe this could be some kind of loose adaptation of the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, which follows the Dark Knight as he battles The Joker and a ton of other villains when they seize control of the forensic mental hospital. That's just speculation on my part, but it's a great way for them to utilize all of these villainous characters in some way.

One thing is for sure, if these villains are going to be more than just cameos, Affleck and his team really need to find a way to balance all of them in a way that works. If they can actually pull that off... awesome! At the same time, this makes me think that the studio is looking to go as big as they can with Affleck as Batman before Affleck finally says he's had enough, which could happen at any time. Personally, I'd much rather see Batman and his villains built up over the course of several movies instead of throwing all of them into one film.

There's no official confirmation of this, so as of right now we will treat it as a rumor. But for conversation's sake, what do you think about the possibility? Would you rather see an Arkham Asylum-type Batman movie where all the villains play a solid role in the story or would you rather the villains just show up in cameos?

First Insane Trailer for CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE

Jon Favreau Looking at Opportunities to Possibly Direct Another Marvel Movie

0
0

Last week we learned that Jon Favreau would be returning to the Marvel family to executive produce the Avengers: Infinity War films. Well, it sounds like he could end up doing a lot more than that with the studio sometime in the future. The man who helped launch Marvel Studios and the MCU with Iron Man might be back to direct another project somewhere down the line.

While talking to IGN, the director was asked what it would take to get him back to direct another film for Marvel, and this is what he said:

"A great story. I know the people over there. I like them. I still executive produce the Avengers series and I like what they’re doing a lot now, I do. By the same token I feel like I’ve made my mark; whatever we did in those early days has continued and is in good hands with new filmmakers with fresh voices."

He went on to talk about the other filmmakers the studio has brought in to develop their films over the past few years:

“I think they’re hiring the right kinds of filmmakers – I couldn’t be more impressed with this one [Civil War], and Guardians of the Galaxy I thought was an unexpected, delightful film. I just think how I fit in now might be different. It’s 10 years later, and now I’m more of an elder statesman. But we talk a lot about how I could be involved there and I exist both in front of and behind the camera in the Marvel universe, which puts me in a unique position which I enjoy."

As for the possibility of eventually coming back to direct another Marvel film, he said that they are always trying to figure out a way to come back and contribute more than what he would as an executive producer. He explained:

“We’re always trying to figure out if there’s a way for me to contribute beyond just being an executive producer there. I wouldn’t be surprised if something pops up soon, but there’s no one property that we’re identifying that I’d want to helm up and shoulder. Because now that the universe has gotten so big over there, I don’t know that I understand how it all fits together anymore. I was there in the early days when the universe was very small. Now the universe is very big there and they seem to have it well in hand.”

It’s great to hear this. I’ve been wanting to see Favreau do more with Marvel since he directed Iron Man 2. Robert Downey Jr. recently said he would be up for doing Iron Man 4. Wouldn’t it be cool if Favreau came back to direct that film if the studio decided to move forward with it? It would also be cool to see him take on an entirely different character as well.

If Favreau did come back to direct a Marvel movie, what movie would you like to see him take on? I'd just be happy to see him direct another Marvel movie!

MONSTERPOCALYPSE Feature Film Will Be Directed by EVIL DEAD Remake's Fede Alvarez

0
0

Monsterpocalypse is a board game from Privateer Press that has been on the road to the big screen since 2010 when Tim Burton was looking to direct it. That production fell apart, though. Now there’s a bidding war on the feature film rights because the studios see it as the next big franchise.

The film package that was shopped to the studios included director Fede Alvarez, who helmed the crazy, blood-filled 2013 Evil Dead remake. He is also set to co-write the screenplay with his writing partner Rodo Sayagues.

As of right now, Warner Bros., DreamWorks, and Sony are trying to get in on the Monsterpocalypse action, which is kind of like a Pacific Rim type concept. In fact, that’s the reason the first attempt to make this movie didn’t work. While Monsterpocalypse was in development, Guillermo del Toro released Pacific Rim, so they decided to put it on hold.

The game involves a group of humans in robot-type mech suits who battle a variety of evil monsters. It’s all set in a metropolis-type setting full of people and buildings. According to THR, the “new package has a take that is substantially different from the previous iteration, let alone Pacific Rim, although the core concept — humans versus monsters — remains.”

I’d love to see Alvarez take on this project. Before he directed Evil Dead he made a great short film called Panic Attack! that featured giant robots attacking the South American city of Montevideo. Monsterpocalypse seems like a movie that is right up his ally. I posted that short film for you to watch below.
