Marvel and Netflix reclaimed Daredevil's reputation after the character took a hit with that Ben Affleck movie, and now he's tearing up Hell's Kitchen on the small screen and fans are really digging it. But it looks like he wasn't the only one who gained powers from a chemical truck accident. Check out this funny video from Robot Chicken that introduces The Man Without Fear to a whole new group of "heroes."

Mark Strong Goes To Mars in APPROACHING THE UNKNOWN Trailer

$

0

Did you know that Mark Strong is starring in a new sci-fi movie called Approaching The Unknown? I'd never heard of the project until I saw this trailer, and it sounds like I'm not the only one. But it looks like a relatively small movie, so I suppose it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend more money on marketing than they did making the film. Either way, it's one of those "astronaut goes on a mission and loneliness might cause him to go crazy" stories, and Strong is always a compelling screen presence, so I'm definitely intrigued.

I obviously haven't seen the movie yet, but I feel like the trailer might give away just a little too much near the end, so I'd recommend maybe tuning in until you decide whether it's something you'd be interested in watching, and then cut out at that point so you don't accidentally ruin anything for yourself.

Approaching The Unknown hits theaters and iTunes on June 3rd.

Robert Downey Jr. Says He's Up For Another IRON MAN Solo Film

Last night on ABC News Nightline, there was a special inside look segment for Captain America: Civil War. It essentially focused on the epic battle in the movie that takes place at an airport in Germany. The video featured interviews with the cast and crew talking about the movie, and in the process, Robert Downey Jr. spoke about his future as Iron Man in the MCU.

The actor is already set to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Avengers: Infinity War films, but what about a fourth Iron Man film? In the past, Downey hasn't really seemed to be very interested in it, but he's since changed his tune.  During the special, the actor was asked about doing another solo Iron Man film and this is what he said:

"I feel like I could do one more."

This is the first time we've legitimately heard Downey say he'd be up for Iron Man 4. I was hoping that he would get to make at least one more proper solo film before he stops playing the character. I guess there's a chance that Marvel could actually considering it, I just don't know where it would fit in with their current line up. Would it happen before or after the Infinity War films? Either way, if the studio does decide to make it, it sounds like we can count on Robert Downey Jr. to be back once again as Tony Stark.

Will Ferrell Will Play The Former President in REAGAN

Will Ferrell famously played former President George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live and in his HBO special You're Welcome America, and now Variety reports that the actor will be suiting up as a different former Commander in Chief: he'll be portraying Ronald Reagan in a new film called Reagan.

But this isn't just some run-of-the-mill biopic. Mike Rosolio's screenplay — which has earned a lot of attention and ended up on The Black List of the year's best unproduced scripts — "begins at the start of the ex-president’s second term when he falls into dementia and an ambitious intern is tasked with convincing the commander in chief that he is an actor playing the president in a movie." Whoa. Sounds like it has the potential to be either darkly funny or sad and serious.

Ferrell is obviously well known for his comedic talents, but he's also proven to be a solid dramatic actor when given the opportunity (see Stranger Than Fiction if you haven't already). No director is attached to this movie yet, but with Ferrell on board to star and produce through his Gary Sanchez Productions banner, it probably won't be long before this moves into production.

Side note/trivia: Ferrell won't be the only actor to have recently portrayed Ronald Reagan, because Bruce Campbell just played the former actor/President in the second season of the FX series Fargo.

See How Jon Favreau's THE JUNGLE BOOK Came to Life on a Sound Stage

I finally saw Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book this past weekend, and I really enjoyed it. The voice work was all top notch, the story was pretty good, and Neel Sethi did a decent job as Mowgli, but the biggest draw was seeing the lush, gorgeous visuals Favreau and his team were able to create. Despite its realistic-looking setting, this entire movie was filmed in a couple of sound stages in downtown Los Angeles, and a new video from Mashable contains some peeks into what that process looked like. You should definitely check it out if you've seen the movie, because your mind will be blown when you find out what was real and what wasn't:

I have no idea what possessed Vimeo user anton withagen to cut together a bunch of random lines from movies into rhyming poetry. It might have been nothing more than a simple editing exercise, but even though it's nonsensical, I was still mesmerized by it for a minute and forty-five seconds. Maybe you will be, too.

VIKINGS Star Katheryn Winnick Joins Cast of THE DARK TOWER

The cast of the long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower has grown by one. Variety reports that Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has come on board the project, though they don't have any details about which character she'll be playing.

Winnick's hiring comes hot on the heels of the addition of Fran Kranz last week, and the two of them will join Idris Elba as gunslinger Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey as the evil Man in Black, Tom Taylor as the young Jake Chambers, Jackie Earle Haley as Richard Sayre, and Abbey Lee as Tirana. I've only read the first novel in King's multi-book series, and to me Winnick doesn't seem like an instant ringer for the (extremely few) female characters that pop up in that book, so I'm guessing she'll be playing a character that shows up later in the series. Fans of the books can feel free to speculate away in the comments section.

Production is underway, and BMD just pointed out the fact that a few photos from the set have hit Instagram recently. Visit their site for more, but I'll include a couple of them below, including one that has our first look at a version of the movie's logo:

New Trailer for Taika Waititi’s Amazing HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE

new-trailer-for-taika-waititis-amazing-new-film-hunt-for-the-wilderpeople

Taika Waititi, the director of the upcoming Marvel film Thor: Ragnarok, has made one of the best and most entertaining films of the year. It’s called Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and it’s a movie that you will not want to miss. This was my number one favorite film at Sundance, and as I said in my review:

This is a brilliantly written and directed film that I know for a fact audiences will love. Waititi has reached a new level of excellence in his filmmaking career with this movie. All of the characters are amazingly wonderful and likable and you can't help but fall in love with them. It doesn't hurt the the actors cast as these characters amazingly bring them to life for the audiences enjoyment.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople has got everything you want in a movie. Action, adventure, comedy, drama, danger, and excitement. I really couldn't have asked for anything more from this movie. In my mind it was a perfect film.

The movie stars Sam Neill and Julian Dennison as the main characters, and it is based on Barry Crump’s book Wild Pork and Watercress. A series of events leads their characters Ricky and Hec on a crazy adventure through the New Zealand wilderness as they are being hunted down by social services and the police.

Raised on hip-hop and foster care, defiant city kid Ricky gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside. He quickly finds himself at home with his new foster family: the loving Aunt Bella, the cantankerous Uncle Hec, and dog Tupac. When a tragedy strikes that threatens to ship Ricky to another home, both he and Hec go on the run in the bush. As a national manhunt ensues, the newly branded outlaws must face their options: go out in a blaze of glory or overcome their differences and survive as a family. Director Taika Waititi (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, upcoming THOR: RAGNORAK) masterfully weaves lively humor with emotionally honest performances by Sam Neill and Julian Dennison. A hilarious, touching crowd-pleaser, HUNT FOR THEWILDERPEOPLE reminds us about the journey that growing up is (at any age) and those who help us along the way.

In case you don’t remember, Waititi is the filmmaker who brought us Eagle Vs. Shark, Boy, and What We Do In Shadows. The movie is set to be released on June 24th, and it’s a summer film you won’t want to miss!

DEADPOOL Director Tim Miller Explains How Cable Will Be Utilized in DEADPOOL 2

With Cable ready to rock ’n roll in the upcoming Deadpool sequel, there’s a 100% chance that the next installment of Deadpool’s story will be even better than the first. These two characters just belong together, and the thought of seeing them embark on a balls to the wall action-packed adventure is exciting.

In a recent interview with IGN, director Tim Miller and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick talked about Cable, how they plan on bringing him to life on the big screen, and what they are looking for in casting the role. Miller said:

“There’s a lot about Cable’s history that I like because he’s so intertwined with the world of the X-Men. Why he was put together with Deadpool – other than that he was in a comic that wasn’t selling well and Deadpool was in a comic that wasn’t selling well so they put them together – it’s the same reason we had Colossus; he’s a straight man. And I think Deadpool needs a straight man. Cable is the ultimate, archetypal, silent, strong and cynical warrior, which Deadpool is not.”

Both Deadpool and Cable are characters that work better when they are interacting with other characters, especially when those other characters are each other. Talking about the kind of actor they need to bring in to play Cable, Reese said:

“Strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn’t have. Deadpool’s kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what.”

Wernick added that whoever plays the character needs to be “physically imposing.” I’m really curious to see who ends up in the role. We’ve heard names such as Stephen Lang and Jon Hamm thrown around, but I doubt either one of them will get the part. When I hear the term “physically imposing” it makes me think of the physique of someone like Dwayne Johnson. I’m not saying he should play the character, I’m just saying he’s a physically imposing kind of guy.

Who would you like to see take on the role, and what do you think about what Miller said about how he plans to use Cable into the sequel?

Sci-Fi Short Film EVE Explores the Last Moments of Humanity on Earth

I’ve got an astonishing sci-fi short film that you’ve gotta check out called "EVE." It was beautifully directed by Eric Gandois and it’s intense and mesmerizing.

The story is set in a future society where oxygen on the planet is scarce and life on Earth has virtually died off.  The short has absolutely no dialogue, and the story is told through the visuals and performance of the lead character played by Delphine Chaneac, who was in Vincenzo Natali's Splice. Here’s the brief synopsis that came along with the film:

EVE A 3D movie set in a futuristic & poetic universe without any dialog The last moments of humanity on earth before nature resumes his duties.

The film was shot in 3D, but the version you are going to watch below is in 2D. Thanks to First Showing for the heads up on this great film. I’m looking forward to seeing what the director does next.

If you're like me and you're excited to see Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse we’ve got three new TV spots and a clip to share with you that offer us some additional footage of the team taking on a god. The clip features the return of Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, and in it she reveals her work in tracking down Apocalypse. One of the TV spots offers us a look at Cyclops sporting his new X-Men uniform. I’ve also included a cool image from the film that shows off the entire new X-Men team wearing their new uniforms. The look great, but I wish I could get a better look at them.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 18th.

Jamie Foxx Looking to Join Jim Henson Company’s THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS

Jamie Fox is in negotiations to star in The Jim Henson Company’s upcoming film The Happytime Murders. The movie is described as a raucous R-rated comedy that will combine live-action characters with puppets.

jamie-foxx-looking-to-join-jim-henson-companys-the-happytime-murders2

The project is set to be directed by Brian Henson, and the “story follows puppet stars of an iconic TV show The Happytime Gang who are some of the biggest celebrities around. But off-camera, the family-friendly cast leads the kinds of lives that would make a tabloid writer blush. When the Happytime Gang stars begin to be mysteriously murdered, two mismatched detectives – one a type-A, take-no-prisoners human with a secret and the other a crass, hard-drinking puppet with a connection to one of the victims – must put aside their differences to stop the killings and catch the culprit, all the while trying to resist the temptation to murder each other.”

Deadline says that Foxx will play Detective Edwards, and they offer additional details on the characters saying that Edwards is “a LAPD cop who must re-team with his former partner Phil, a drinker and philanderer who is not keen on Edwards’ good-cop persona. Together they try to solve the murders, all the while bumping heads on each other’s methods.”

It’ll be fun to see Foxx jump in a role like this playing off of puppets. The screenplay comes from Todd Berger, Dee Robertson, and Erich and Jon Hoeber who worked on Red and Red 2, which were spectacularly entertaining movies. The Happytime Murders sounds like it will be a blas,t and I can’t wait to see what comes of it.

Foxx is currently set to play little John in the Robin Hood: Origins film.

Fresh Batch of Photos From GAME OF THRONES Season 6, Episode 2 "Home"

At last we’ve got our first dose of tension-filled Game of Thrones with the series opening last weekend. If I were new to the show, the episode “The Red Woman” wouldn’t have shocked me that much. (Spoilers alert) But seeing the real face of Melisandre before the credits was something that I didn’t expect. I haven’t read the books and don’t know what happens in them, so maybe those of you who have actually opened the books’ covers and gone through the pages saw that coming.

Now HBO gives us a chance to get a glimpse of the second episode, entitled “Home.” The released set of images show the return of some characters, including Meera Reed, Bran Stark, Yara, and Balon Greyjoy.

Here’s the official synopsis of Game of Thrones, S06E02:

Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) trains with the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow). In King’s Landing, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) advises Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman). Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) demands good news, but has to make his own. At Castle Black, the Night’s Watch stands behind Thorne (Owen Teale). Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) proposes a plan, and Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide) entertains other proposals.

In case you haven’t seen the preview of “Home”, watch the link bellow.

HBO also unveiled the name and a short description of the third episode. Titled “Oathbreaker”, it will depict how:

Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). Arya (Maisie Williams) trains to be No One. Varys (Conleth Hill) finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift.

The episode will air on Sunday, May 8.

Great Trailer for Viggo Mortensen’s CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

Viggo Mortensen is one of the most talented actors working today, and as you may or may not know, he’s very picky about the projects he takes on these days. His latest film is Captain Fantastic, which premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. The story follows an idealistic father who, after a decade of living off the grid in the forests of the Pacific Northwest with his six kids, returns to society.

Everyone I talked to that saw it said it was great. Some even told me it was one of their favorite movies at the festival. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to see it for myself, but it definitely looks like a movie that I would gladly pay to see. This is a great trailer and it looks like Mortensen seems to deliver another incredible performance. Here's the official synopsis:

In the forests of the Pacific Northwest, a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education is forced to leave his paradise and enter the world, challenging his idea of what it means to be a parent.

Captain Fantastic will get a limited theatrical released on July 8th this summer.

Watch Chris Hemsworth Wonder Why He Isn't Going to Swing His Hammer in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Obviously Thor, or Chris Hemsworth, isn’t happy about the fact that he’s not making an appearance in Captain America: Civil War, and he has something to say about that.

In the video below we see Hemsworth doing pull-ups and expressing his annoyance very demonstratively. And instead of saying whether he supports Team Iron Man or Team Captain America, he wonders why the two “biggest and strongest” characters in the Marvel Universe (a.k.a. Thor and Hulk) were left out and didn’t receive invites. While considering many different reasons for his exclusion, the actor starts to doubt whether he is still worthy of his role. Or maybe he “can’t even pick up the hammer anymore…”

Despite the fact that the God of Thunder is not going to swing his hammer in Captain America: Civil War, we will be able to see him in Thor: Ragnarok which is set to premiere on November 3, 2017.

Mesmerizing New Trailer For Martial Arts Fantasy Film KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS

$

LAIKA animation studios has released a new trailer for their incredibly awesome-looking stop-motion animated film Kubo and the Two Strings. This has become one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I've enjoyed all of the films LAIKA has developed so far, and this looks like it could be their best and most epic story yet. Here is the plot summary, along with the extremely talented voice cast who are bringing these characters to life.

An epic action-adventure set in a fantastical Japan, clever, kindhearted Kubo (voiced by Art Parkinson of Game of Thrones) ekes out a humble living, telling stories to the people of his seaside town including Hosato (George Takei), Akihiro (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), and Kameyo (Brenda Vaccaro). But his relatively quiet existence is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit from his past which storms down from the heavens to enforce an age-old vendetta. Now on the run, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey), and sets out on a thrilling quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever known. With the help of his shamisen – a magical musical instrument – Kubo must battle gods and monsters, including the vengeful Moon King (Ralph Fiennes) and the evil twin Sisters (Rooney Mara), to unlock the secret of his legacy, reunite his family, and fulfill his heroic destiny.

The movie is being directed by Travis Knight, and the film is set to be released on August 19th. I also included four new posters for the film that focus on the fantastical worlds in the story.
