Yesterday, Empire Magazine revealed two new covers that celebrate Paul Feig's upcoming Ghostbusters film, and today, we have a new featurette that highlights Chris Hemsworth's idiotic assistant character, Kevin. Hemsworth, best known for his performances as Thor in the Marvel films, dipped his toe into comedy for the first time with last year's Vacation reboot, and according to his director and fellow cast members, he's able to hold his own with the funny ladies who are going to be leading this new movie.

Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15th.

Video: The Importance of The X-MEN and Colorful Costumes

Prior to watching this video, I was a fan of the X-Men movie costumes. By the end of KaptainKristian's argument, I'm pretty pissed I haven't seen the classic costumes on the silver screen! You likely will be too after watching. My only real dispute is I'm not a fan of the classic Wolverine outfit, and I much prefer the movie look over the horn look. Flame me in the comments below.

Chris Evans "Scared To Walk Away" From Captain America, Talks About Potentially Passing The Shield To Another Actor

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters in a week and a half, and fans will finally find out just how close the film adaptation hews to its comic book source material. One of the big rumors surrounding the movie has been about the fate of Captain America, and star Chris Evans has already addressed his immediate future in the MCU. In a new interview with Collider, Evans gives an update about whether or not he's added more films to his contract with Marvel Studios and whether he'd hand off the shield to another actor:

“There's no re-upping yet. It is so funny thinking about how fast time has moved. We started this in 2010, and six years is gone in the blink of an eye. In the beginning it was so terrifying, and now you’re almost scared…I’m scared to walk away. I’m scared to not have one of these coming. For the past six, theres always been ‘next year, we start that one,’ and it’s been wonderful. Especially because the movies are so good. When you make good movies, who wants to stop doing that? So, I don’t know. We’ll see.
I know in the comic books that the shield gets passed off, and what you do know more than anything else in this process — meeting fans, experiencing junkets, and people who love the character — the character is bigger than you. And whatever the character needs, whatever Marvel needs for that arc, I'm willing to do. So if that is me passing it off, you pass it off. But if they want to make more, I'm ready."

I'm sure fans will be happy to hear that Evans is putting the interests of the character above his own interests (that's such a Cap thing to do). He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders, and when the day comes that he's replaced or asked to pass off the shield, he'll have plenty of other opportunities elsewhere. Until then, though, I'm going to try to enjoy seeing him play this character for as long as possible.

As Netflix becomes an even larger powerhouse with its original content, you've probably noticed the quality of films available for streaming on the platform has dropped. At long last the first trailer for the feature film adaptation of Stephen King's Cell has been released! I've been anxiously waiting for this movie since I first read the book and it's almost here. The movie stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, and Isabelle Fuhrman and it looks like a solid adaptation. King, who co-wrote the script for the movie, previously said:

“I enjoyed working on ‘Cell’ and love the way it turned out. Kip Williams has made a scary and thoroughly entertaining movie. But you may want to put your cell phone in the freezer after seeing it.”

Cusack and Jackson previously worked together on the big screen adaptation of 1408, which I really enjoyed. It looks like they were able to bring that same magic to bringing the story of Cell to life. Here's the synopsis:

When a mysterious cell phone signal is broadcast across the network and turns the population into mindless animals, struggling graphic artist Clay Riddell (Cusack) bands together with a small group of fellow survivors to trek across a decimated New England to seek answers and reunite with his son.

Cell was directed by Tod Williams (Paranormal Activity 2, The Door in the Floor) and it will be released on Ultra VOD June 10th and then theatrically and on VOD July 8th. Watch the trailer and let us know what you think!

Dive Into The World of PREACHER With This Host of 20 New Photos

I read Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic series Preacher in college and became a huge fan, so I'm very curious to see how Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) adapt it for AMC on the small screen. Thankfully fans don't have much longer to wait until we get to see the premiere, and now the network has released a big batch of new photos of the actors in costume to tide us over until next month. Check them out below, courtesy of IGN, USA Today, ComicBook, and EW.

Yahoo also added a couple of pics, along with a quick breakdown of all of the characters in that header image above (from left to right):

Hugo Root (W. Earl Brown): Root’s the nasty local sheriff who, in the comics, has a life-changing encounter with Jesse Custer, leading Root to a shocking act of self-violence.
Eugene Root (Ian Colletti): He’s Sheriff Root’s abused son, and he’s more commonly known by his nickname, “Arseface,” after he was disfigured when he shot himself in the face in an attempt to mimic his idol Kurt Cobain’s suicide.
Emily Woodrow (Lucy Griffiths): She’s sort of the Preacher version of Daryl Dixon, in that Emily is a character created just for the TV series. She’s a single mom who works as a waitress, bookkeeper, and church organist, and she has a bit of a crush on Jesse.
Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga): Jesse’s ex-girlfriend and current love interest, who, raised by her father, has serious gun skills.
Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun): Why’s that dude holding an umbrella? He’s Jesse’s BFF, and he’s a heavy-drinking Irish vampire.
Donny Schenck (Derek Wilson): Donny’s a Civil War re-enactor who learns how much Jesse hates bullies when Jesse finds out Donny beats his wife.
DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef): an angel who’s been tasked with keeping his eye on Genesis, and who will reveal some very key facts about Genesis to Jesse.
Fiore (Tom Brooke): DeBlanc’s partner, also an angel on the Genesis beat.

T.J. Miller Tells Us About The "Real" Thomas Middleditch in Hilarious SILICON VALLEY Interview

If the goal of the Silicon Valley season 3 press tour was to tell us about the upcoming season, it's been a colossal failure. If the goal was to crack up anyone who happened to watch these fluff interviews, then mission accomplished. Literally every video I've watched has been as nonsensical and ridiculous as the one prior! In this interview with Vanity Fair, T.J. Miller gives us a look into the "real" Thomas Middleditch. I can't figure out who's funnier, Miller or Middleditch's responses to Miller!

HBO's WESTWORLD Showrunner Explains Reasons For Setback

There are two primary reasons why there has been a lot written about HBO's ambitious sci-fi western TV adaptation of Michael Crichton's Westworld. First, it has a terrific cast, talented filmmakers behind the camera, and a great premise. And second, it unexpectedly shut down production, and when that happens on a project that's this high-profile, it always raises some questions and draws media attention.

But showrunner/co-creator Jonathan Nolan (Person of Interest, The Dark Knight) isn't worried. In a new interview with io9, he says that there was "no recalibration required" and explains the reason for the delay was simply to give him and co-creator Lisa Joy more time to be able to write the scripts for the episodes:

“Nothing that I have done prepared me for the sheer avalanche [of production requirements]. The truth is, what we’re doing there is a 10-hour movie. It’s not really a TV series. When they say ‘It’s not TV, it’s HBO,’ they’re really not kidding.
We’re doing a period Western, and a science fiction [movie]. Basically, we’re shooting Alien, Days of Heaven and Unforgiven simultaneously, and then cutting them all together...It’s just a massive, massive undertaking.”

But my favorite part of the interview is how he bashes the incorrect stories he's read about the show in the press:

“I’ve read a lot of bullshit about this show,” said Nolan. “I’ve read more fucking nonsense about this project than anything I’ve ever been involved in—which is kind of amazing, given how much nonsense I read about the Batman movies.”

I can't wait until this show actually hits the air and we can judge it on its own merits. Westworld stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, and more, but the show doesn't have an official premiere date yet.

Daisy Ridley Moves From STAR WARS to World War II in Romantic Drama THE LOST WIFE

Daisy Ridley can't seem to escape war.

The actress had her breakthrough role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, she's currently shooting Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII, and now Variety reports that she'll soon be starring in a pre-WWII romantic drama called The Lost Wife, based on the book by Alyson Richman. Here's the book synopsis from Amazon:

In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there's an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers...

Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance. From the glamorous ease of life in Prague before the Occupation, to the horrors of Nazi Europe, The Lost Wife explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit- and the strength of memory.

Sounds pretty heartbreaking, and I'm sure they're hoping this will resonate with anyone who's experienced lost love. The project is still without a director or studio, but this is apparently a top priority for producers Robbie Brenner, Michelle Chydzik, and Jeff Waxman. Meanwhile, Ridley also has a starring role lined up in Kolma, and she may be playing Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider movie.

Game Over, Reebok: Ripley's ALIEN Day Sneakers Were Only Available in Men's Sizes

Today is April 26th, otherwise known as Alien Day (Get it? 4/26? LV-426?), and along with prizes and Alamo Drafthouse double feature screenings of Alien and Aliens, the day's biggest draw for fans is that Reebok announced that they'd be selling a limited run of the Alien Stomper sneakers that Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley wears in Aliens. Pretty cool, huh? Sounds simple enough. There's no way that Reebok could screw that up, right?

Game over, man. The company reportedly only made the shoes available in men's sizes, despite the fact that, you know, they were only worn in the movie by one of the biggest female badasses in cinema history.

How could they drop the ball in such a massive way? A representative told io9 that they were released in men's sizes "due to retail demand," but that seems like a total garbage excuse. How could they know what the retail demand was going to be? They sold out extremely quickly, but there were plenty of women who were stoked to grab a pair of those iconic kicks, only to be dismayed to find that yet again, they'd been overlooked and removed from the equation altogether. (Suki-Rose Simakis at BMD is one such woman.)

Look, I absolutely understand wanting to make a very small number of something cool that only a few die-hard fans can acquire. The limited number makes it that much sweeter when a fan actually does score a pair. But making these shoes available in both men and women's sizes just seems like the most obvious decision in the world. If anything, they should have only been available in WOMEN'S sizes, since last time I checked, the character of Ellen Ripley is a woman. Way to blow it, Reebok.

Updated: io9 says that Reebok contacted them after their original article was posted and the company claims the person who told them the shoes were available "due to retail demand" wasn't authorized to speak on the company's behalf. This was their follow-up statement:

The Alien Stomper was mis-categorized on our US website as a men’s shoe. While size availability varied by market, the Alien Stomper is a unisex style and was produced in sizes (US Men’s) 3.5 – 12, which is a typical size range for a unisex model.

Since the shoes sold out so quickly, it's tough to find out whether or not they actually were available in those smaller sizes. I wasn't on the site when they were available, so I can't say what it looked like for certain. Let's give Reebok the benefit of the doubt, though, and chalk this up to a simple boneheaded mis-categorization instead of a much bigger blunder.

The Empire Strikes Back. Raiders of the Lost Ark. E.T. Blade Runner. Gremlins. The Breakfast Club. Back to the Future. The Rocketeer. The Matrix. I'm not just listing some of cinephiles' favorite films here — these are only a handful of the movies worked on by John Roesch, one of the foley artists at Skywalker Sound. With nearly 500 credits to his name, there may be no single other person in Hollywood who has been involved with the staggering number of your favorite movies.

In a new video from Wired, Roesch walks us through his sound stage at Skywalker Sound, shows off props that were used in movies like Back to the Future, and gives a brief glimpse into the work that goes into the work of a foley artist, one of Hollywood's most unsung jobs:

First Trailer for BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Animated Film

"All it takes is one bad day."

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the first trailer for their animated film adaptation of Alan Moore's Batman: The Killing Joke. I've been looking forward to watching this film, especially since Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy returned to lend their voices to The Joker and The Dark Knight.

The film was recently officially slapped with an R-rating, which seems appropriate for the dark and controversial subject matter. It just tells me that director Sam Liu and his team did a proper job of telling this story. Some of the animation done for the movie seems a bit on the crude side, but it's the story that matters. Maybe a lot of that will be cleaned up by the time the movie is ready to be screened.

Batman: The Killing Joke is set to premiere at San Diego Comic-Con, and it will most likely be released shortly after that. To watch a previously released teaser and featurette on the film, click here.

3 Actresses Up for Lead Role in James Cameron’s ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL

Even though James Cameron is going to be making Avatar films for the rest of his life, he still plans on developing and producing a big screen adaptation of Alita: Battle Angel. Cameron has been working on getting this popular manga to the big screen for years, and he finally decided to pass the directing duties off on someone else. That someone is Robert Rodriguez, and 20th Century Fox is looking to finally get this film into production.

Screen Shot 2016-04-26 at 8.58.06 PM.png

According to THR, three actresses are at the top of the list for the lead role in the film. Those actresses include Maika Monroe (It Follows, Independence Day: Resurgence), Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, CHiPs), and Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming). The actress I’m most familiar with is Monroe, who did a fantastic job in the horror movie It Follows, but according to sources, Zendaya is the frontrunner for the role.

Battle Angel is set the 26th century, and it tells the story of Alita, "an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor. The rebuilt Alita, remembering only her training in a deadly martial art, becomes a hunter-warrior, tracking down and eliminating vicious criminals. Within the context of an epic action-adventure, the film will explore a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and finding love."

Apparently, this is a star-making vehicle for whomever is cast, and it’s been likened to Cameron’s Dark Angel and how it became the platform that launched Jessica Alba’s career.

It has been a long time since Rodriguez has made a good movie that I enjoyed, but I think he’ll be able to pull off something awesome with this movie, especially with the help and guidance of Cameron. At this point, it’s all about who is going to headline the film and bring the character of Alita to life. Out of these three choices, who would you want to see take it on?
