5 Characters Reportedly Being Cast in THE FLASH Solo Movie

0
0

I have made my opinion about the casting of Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash known, and it still hasn’t changed. I am not a fan. On that note, casting has started for the upcoming movie The Flash. Heroic Hollywood seems to have gotten their hands on the breakdown sent out to casting agencies for what spots are going to be filled in the movie. Here is what they had to say:

IRIS WEST
Iris West is described in the breakdown as having Christiane Amanpour’s brains and Carrie Bradshaw’s style. An overcaffinated doe. A reporter at The Central City Citizen. Actresses are currently testing for this part.
EOBARD THAWNE
Eobard Thawne is described in the breakdown as Central City’s Bill Gates. The smartest man in the room and he suffers from advanced degenerative disease like Stephen Hawking. Thawne is confined to a chair.
FRED CHYRE
Fred Chyre is described in the breakdown as a gruff detective who first meets Barry at the scene of a crime. Now they’re colleagues and the closest thing Barry has to a friend. Chryre is investigating the unusual death of someone at Thawne Laboratories.
LEN SNART
Len Snart is described in the breakdown as being ex-military and turns out to be working for Thawne. Have a feeling he is the muscle the way Anatoli Knyazev (aka the KGBEAST) was the muscle for Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
JAY GARRICK
Jay Garrick is described in the breakdown as being a former Central University professor who was fired for fringe science, and was working on the speed force program. Supposedly his role is just a cameo.

As much as I am not a fan of the casting of Miller as The Flash, The Flash is my favorite DC hero, so I hope this works out. I don’t want people being introduced to The Flash in a suck ass movie. That situation almost killed Daredevil.

Am I being too hard on this casting situation? What are your thoughts?

One of the Most Epic Nerf Battles Ever in TEAM FORTRESS-Inspired Short Film

The talented team at Corridor Digital has released a new high-octane short film that gives us one of the most epic and action-packed Nerf battles ever. The short was inspired by Team Fortress, and it features characters from the game in the heat of battle using an arsenal of Nerf guns.

We had way too many Nerf guns lying around the office to not do something epic with them. What kind of Nerf action scene mash-up would you like to see?

The short is incredibly fun, so enjoy the Nerf insanity!

Marvel Removes INHUMANS From Its Movie Release Schedule

0

It doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing that Inhuman’s movie anytime soon. Disney and Marvel had previously scheduled it for release on July 12th, 2019. Now in an updated release schedule, the movie has been removed, and it currently has no release date.

The news comes from Wall Street Journal's Ben Fritz. This isn’t the first time the film’s release date has had issues. It was originally slated for release on November 2nd, 2018 before it was moved to the July date. One of the reasons why Inhumans was removed could be because Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on July 19th, 2019, which is a week after Inhumans. I imagine they didn’t want to go up against that.

Then Spider-Man was recently thrown into the mix, which Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also said plays a factor in the shuffle. When previously asked about the Inhumans movie at the Captain America: Civil War press junket, he said:

"Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big, joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big, fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it's on right now. How far down it shuffles, I'm not sure yet."

I'm sure Marvel is still planning on an Inhumans movie, and Vin Diesel is expected to star in the film. There’s just a little restructuring going on at the moment, and we’ll keep you updated on what happens.

Mystique Leads the X-Men into Battle in Epic New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Trailer

0

We've got a new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse for you to watch today, and it mostly focuses on Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique coming in and taking charge of the X-Men. She prepares them to fight against Apocalypse and his four horsemen and proceeds to lead them into battle. At the very end of the trailer there's a Wolverine tease that was previously rumored, and it looks like my speculation of how he would be incorporated into the story was right. His inclusion in the film definitely adds a creepy factor because he meets Jean Grey and Cyclops here when they are teenagers and Wolverine is a much older man. As you already know, there's eventually a tense love triangle between these three characters... weird.

Anyway, the trailer is awesome and is packed full of incredibly cool new action-packed footage that you won't want to miss. X-Men: Apocalypse looks like it's going to be a great film!

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse is being directed by Bryan Singer, and it arrives in theaters on May 27th.

Karl Urban Wants a DREDD Series for Netflix or Amazon Prime

A few months there was a fan petition started to get to continue Karl Urban’s version of Judge Dredd as a TV series. That petition got over 145,000 signatures, and Urban is completely on board with the idea. He backed the petition along with co-star Olivia Thirlby, and the actor is continuing to push the concept of keeping the story of Dredd rolling forward as a TV series.

The first movie, which was written and directed by Alex Garland, was a damn good film, and I thought Urban was awesome in the titular role. There’s been talk of a sequel for some time now, but I believe a TV series would be the best way to keep this franchise going.

Urban is keeping the dream alive for fans and recently tweeted that he’d totally do a series on Netflix or Amazon. It was sparked by a fan-made image of what Dredd 2 would look like on Netflix. This is what the actor said:

Hell yeah, there's a gold mine of stories! Seeing what Netflix has done with Marvel, there’s no doubt in my mind that a Dredd series developed by Garland would be incredible. Someone who has the power to make this happen has got to know that this is a great idea and that it shouldn’t be ignored, right?!

Warner Bros. Announces Release Date for Stephen King’s IT

I’ve been waiting for this new big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s IT since it was first announced. However, I was way more excited when True Detective director Cary Fukunaga was attached to direct it. He left the project due to creative differences, though, and was replaced by Andres Muschietti (Mama). Now I’m not quite sure what to expect as the new director hasn’t really talked about his vision since he took over the project.

According to inside sources at Variety, “It has been on a roller coaster after losing Fukunaga,” but production is set to begin this summer. Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have announced that the first part of the two-part film will be released on September 18th, 2017.

The report also says that Will Poulter, who was originally cast in the role of Pennywise the Clown in Fukunaga’s version of the film, dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. The studio is now meeting with actors to portray the classic clown villain and other characters in the movie.

The story follows seven kids who come together to form The Losers Club. Along with battling their own life problems with bullies and such, they are faced with the challenge of battling a monster clown who is killing kids in their small town. The first film will focus on that, and the second one will focus on these same characters as adults when they come back to face the monster again and destroy him once and for all.

"Activate Interlocks, Dynatherms Connected, Infracells Up, Megathrusters are Go! Let's Go Voltron Force!!!"

This Voltron LEGO playset has got to be one of the coolest and most ambitious LEGO Ideas that I’ve seen yet. It was created by len_d69, and it includes five LEGO lions that combine to form a 16-inch tall fighting robot of awesomeness. The whole thing weighs over two pounds, and it’s freakin’ glorious!

The Voltron LEGO Idea needs 10,000 supporters to be considered for official release for fans to buy. As of right now, it has over 5,000 supporters, so make sure to click here and vote this thing into existence! It deserves it!

Here are the details that were provided by the creator:

This is one of the popular super robots in the 80's. Based on the Japanese Anime "Beast King GoLion", it is made up of 5 robotic lions that combines to form Voltron.
The Set
A childhood favorite, I tried to recreate Voltron as faithfully as I could in both lion and combined form. Adding in details to make it look as close as possible to its Anime version.
There are basically five separate lions in the set, each having their own unique articulation. They can be played with individually or as one big robot.
1) Black Lion - Forms the head and the body
2) Red and Green Lions - Form the arms
3) Blue and Yellow Lions - Form the legs
When combined, they form Voltron which stands around 16 inches in height and weighs close to 1kg

Plot Summary for Kevin Smith’s THE FLASH Episode “The Runaway Dinosaur"

0
0

The CW has released the first official synopsis for the upcoming Kevin Smith-directed episode of The Flash, which is titled “The Runaway Dinosaur.” We’ve already gotten a few little teases about this episode over the past few months. One of the biggest things that seemed to get fans excited was the fact that Smith’s friend Jason Mewes was cast in the episode as a masked villain. Now we know exactly what the episode will entail thanks to the following plot summary:

KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS – With Barry (Grant Gustin) gone, the team must figure out a way to handle the return of an old enemy – Girder (guest star Greg Finley). Realizing Girder is retracing his steps from his last attack, Iris (Candice Patton) volunteers to act as bait to trap him in S.T.A.R. Labs. Meanwhile, Barry fights to return to his old life.

Smith’s episode is set to air Tuesday, May 10th at 8:00 pm on The CW. I'm excited to see how this turns out!

Wonderful Disney Animation-Inspired Couch Gag for THE SIMPSONS

One of the great things about The Simpsons is that you never know what you're going to get with the couch gag. You get something different with every episode, and sometimes the audience is met with a pleasant surprise that gives us something special. The latest couch gag for The Simpsons pays a wonderful tribute to the art of Disney Animation.

The couch gag was created by Eric Goldberg (Aladdin and Hercules), and it starts out with Maggie reimagined in the style of classic 1920 Mickey Mouse animation. It then goes to Lisa, who magically transforms into Cinderella. Then there's Marge, who comes in as Snow White and is cleaning up the mess of her family. My favorite part is Homer popping in as Baloo from The Jungle Book and eating his favorite junk foods. Bart perfectly ends the segment as The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Now, live the magic of The Simpsons Disney couch gag!

Vince Vaughn Teaming With BONE TOMAHAWK Director For BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99

0

Writer/director S. Craig Zahler's Bone Tomahawk was my favorite movie of last year, and I've been eagerly awaiting word about his next movie ever since I walked out of that screening. Now it appears we know what his next film project will be, and it'll see him team up with an unlikely actor: Vince Vaughn.

THR reports that Vaughn will star in Brawl in Cell Block 99, which is being described as a "brutal action thriller" that Zahler wrote and will direct. Here's the breakdown of the story:

Zahler's script centers on a former boxer (Vaughn) whose life is crumbling: He loses his job as an auto mechanic and his troubled marriage is about to expire. At this crossroads in his life, he feels that he has no better option than to work for an old buddy as a drug courier. This vocation improves his situation until the day he finds himself in a gunfight between a group of police officers and his own ruthless allies. When the smoke clears, the man finds himself in prison in a no-win situation as his enemies force him to commit acts of violence that turn the place into a savage battleground.

That definitely sounds like the kind of punishing, badass cinematic experience I expect from Zahler after seeing Bone Tomahawk. Vaughn, who I thought was a terrible fit for the second season of True Detective, has been trying to establish himself as a dramatic actor as well as a fast-talking funnyman, and I can imagine this being dark enough for people to forget all about The Internship and The Dilemma. I'm pulling for him, and I'm stoked to see what Zahler does with this premise. If you missed it, you can read my interview with Zahler right here.

Badass Metal Cover of GAME OF THRONES' "The Rains of Castamere"

Out of all the Game of Thrones families, the Lannisters are among the most metal. They're violent, don't forgive, and are into some really weird stuff. I'm not saying metal fans are into incest or anything, just that their tastes can be a bit more eclectic than others! For that reason. I share this Mac Miller guitar cover of the Lannisters' house theme, "The Rains of Castamere."

Watch and remember why you always check the doors at wedding receptions now.

J.K. Simmons Talks More About Playing Commissioner Gordon in JUSTICE LEAGUE and Beyond

0
0

Early rumors about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice indicated that the film would take place in a world in which Batman's long-time confidant and ally Commissioner Gordon had died, but those rumors ended up not being true. To the best of my knowledge, Gordon was never mentioned in BvS, and director Zack Snyder has cast Oscar-winning actor J.K. Simmons to play the role in future films. Simmons has already briefly spoken about his take on the role, but in a new interview with DP/30 (via ComingSoon), he expounds on it a little more:

“Honestly, I don’t get started on that until June, and my part in the first one is very small. I’m excited to be playing that iconic character in that iconic series; I was trying to think of a different adjective but they’re both iconic. That’s a couple of movies down the road still, I’m focused on what I’m doing now and then another one, and then I’ll worry about how I can honor that character and that franchise.”
“With these big superhero movies, everybody is so tight lipped about everything, there’s a certain amount of just going on faith. They asked me to come in and meet with Zack Snyder and we had a great meeting. I’m a big fan of what he’s done and we hit it off and he asked me to do the guy. Really, I’m going into a thing that hopefully will be two, three, four…maybe more movies for me, and my part in the first one is really very small, but obviously we know who the guy is. We know his whole backstory, based on the comic book. So, I’m just gonna finish doing my research on that, and probably not watch the other actors who have played the part, because that is just kind of intimidating honestly and I don’t think I would find that to be productive. So I’ll just do my take.”

It sounds like anyone who's really excited to see Simmons take on the role will have to keep that excitement alive for years to come, because by his own admission, he won't have a very big part in Justice League. That's fine with me — I'm probably not alone in hoping that he has a a large part in Ben Affleck's upcoming solo Batman movie, and the idea of seeing Affleck and Simmons working together as those characters sounds very appealing.

FARGO Showrunner Noah Hawley To Make Feature Directorial Debut With Mysterious Sci-Fi Film

0
0

I'm a massive fan of what showrunner Noah Hawley has done with the TV adaptation of Fargo on FX, so I'm extremely curious to see what he'll do with his first feature film as director. Deadline reports that in addition to developing and producing Fargo season 3, an adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle, and the X-Men series Legion, Hawley has signed on to direct his first movie, a mysterious sci-fi film called Man Alive.

We don't have any details about the project other than it's description as "elevated sci-fi," and that it hails from first-time writer Joe Greenberg, so we're sort of flailing in the dark on this one. But I consider Hawley a storytelling genius after what he's done with Fargo (especially that first season), so I'll see just about anything that has his name on it. No word about when Hawley will be able to fit this into his busy schedule, but we'll keep you posted when we hear more.

GAME OF THRONES: Best Moments From The Season 6 Premiere, “The Red Woman”

0
0

Last night was the season six premiere of Game of Thrones, entitled "The Red Woman." If you haven't seen the episode yet, turn back now — spoilers abound.

This season, I'm going to try to write up some quick thoughts about each episode the day after it airs. I won't get too deep into full-on recaps (you can find those all over the internet, and you've probably already read a few today if you're into that sort of thing) and will instead focus on what I consider to be each episode's best moments. This can be as many or as few as I want, and will likely vary every episode — today, it's four. I'll also toss in some additional observations that don't fit into the "best moments" category, which you can find at the bottom of the post. Onward!

4. Melisandre’s Reveal

Let’s start where the episode ends, which reveals Melisandre looking into a mirror, disrobing, taking off the pendant around her neck, and turning into an ancient old woman. There have been fan theories about Melisandre’s age for some time, and Carice Van Houten herself said in a 2012 interview that her character was “way over 100 years” old, and now that’s been confirmed. My question is: are we simply getting a glimpse of a nightly ritual here, or is this an act of giving up for the Red Priestess? After all, she misinterpreted her visions about Stannis Baratheon being the savior of humanity, and she thinks she’s misinterpreted seeing Jon Snow fighting the Bolton army at Winterfell (something I personally think is still going to happen after he’s resurrected this season), so she’s in a pretty dark place right now. (She also burned a child alive last season, so that’s gotta be weighing pretty heavily on her.) I wouldn’t be super surprised if she ended up dying in her sleep as an old woman, leaving one of the other Red Priests or Priestesses (Thoros of Myr, maybe?) with the task of (hopefully) resurrecting Jon. The more likely option, though, seems to be that this is just how she sleeps every night.

3. Davos’s Siege

Ever the tactician, Ser Davos holes up with Jon Snow’s body, Ghost (poor, sad Ghost), and the few remaining loyal Night’s Watch members at Castle Black and stalls for time as Dolorous Edd goes out to secure the backing of the Wildlings. I especially enjoyed his banter with Alliser Thorne through the door about how he and the guys will consider Thorne’s offer and get back to him by nightfall.

2. Khal Mono’s List

After a captured Dany is threatened with rape by the new Dothraki horde, I loved the moment of levity that occurred during her meeting with Khal Mono. He rhetorically asks members of his khalasar if there’s anything better in life than seeing a woman naked for the first time, and they proceed to list off a number of things they actually do consider better; a deadpan Mono has to update his statement to include “seeing a woman naked for the first time” as one of the five best things in life instead of his number one choice. This may be one of the funniest lines in the show’s history.

1. Badass Brienne

After spending most of last season watching for a flame in a window, Brienne of Tarth is finally back on the battlefield. The scene in which she and Pod save Sansa and Theon from Ramsay Bolton’s hunters was terrific (“A bloody woman!” one guy screamed before getting absolutely owned), and Brienne pledging her life to Sansa was a great moment that hopefully indicates these two will be wrecking some sh*t together this season.

Additional Observations

At the end of last season, didn’t we see Trystane on the same boat Jaime and Myrcella were on heading from Dorne to King’s Landing? I’m pretty sure we did, so I’m baffled as to how the Sand Snakes showed up there to kill him. And if we were meant to understand that he wasn’t on the boat, are we to believe that in between the events of the season five finale and the season six premiere, Jaime sailed back to the Dornish coast and just dropped off a key political figure that the Lannisters could use to their advantage? Trystane looked like he didn’t even know Myrcella was dead! And killing Doran? Ugh, Ellaria Sand is the worst. The whole Dorne plot line on this show has been a disaster from the start.

Was it just me, or did that speech that Jaime gave to Cersei about how they have to stick together and the two of them are the only thing that matter in the world sound awfully familiar? I don’t have time to look it up right now, but it seems like he said something very similar to her right after Joffrey’s death.

It looked like Theon was done for when the Bolton soldiers caught up to him, and I was wondering if his final act was going to be sacrificing himself so Sansa could get away. But it appears that he still has a role to play in this story yet. I know we’re going to see a lot of Greyjoys in action this season, and I’m interested to see how Theon factors into the rest of the show now that he’s (at least temporarily) escaped from Ramsay’s clutches.

Is Margaery smart enough to wiggle her way out of the Sparrows’ prison? I’ve always considered her a political equal to Cersei, and I’m wondering if she has her own scheme brewing or if she’s really as helpless as she seems right now.

If Melisandre takes off that pendant and becomes an old woman, why didn’t it happen when she was bathing in front of Stannis’ wife Selyse back in Season 4? Hmm…

What did you think about the season six premiere?
