This latest Skyfall spot is actually a TV commercial for James Bond's OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean watch, but it also shows off some new footage from the movie!

Bond explodes into theaters again on November 9th, 2012.

Synopsis:

In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M (JUDI DENCH) is tested as her past returns to haunt her. 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

When Bond’s latest assignment goes gravely wrong and agents around the world are exposed, MI6 is attacked forcing M to relocate the agency. These events cause her authority and position to be challenged by Gareth Mallory (RALPH FIENNES), the new Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee. With MI6 now compromised from both inside and out, M is left with one ally she can trust: Bond. 007 takes to the shadows – aided only by field agent, Eve (NAOMIE HARRIS) – following a trail to the mysterious Silva (JAVIER BARDEM), whose lethal and hidden motives have yet to reveal themselves.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Gets A New Writer

By the power of Grayskull!

There's good news and bad news for Masters of the Universe fans. The good news is that the live-action movie is moving forward and Sony Pictures has hired a new writer for the project. The bad news is that they've hired Richard Wenk, the man behind the remake of The Mechanic, to do the job.

Variety reports that Sony likes Wenk because of his work on the script for the upcoming Denzel Washington adaptation of The Equalizer, but it's hard to ignore his produced credits so far with the abysmal The Mechanic and the terrible Bruce Willis movie 16 Blocks under his belt. Then again, Wenk did co-write The Expendables 2 with Sylvester Stallone, and that movie ended up being a lot more fun than the first entry.

Based on his previous filmography, I find it hard to believe that this is the right guy to bring another Masters of the Universe movie to the big screen (don't forget about the Dolph Lundgren version!), but with G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu behind the camera, maybe they can make something kinetic enough to satisfy fans.

THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON Gains Writer, Loses Director

Looks like The Creature From The Black Lagoon will still rise from the water soon, even if it's not under the director we thought it'd be.

THR is reporting that the remake of the famous monster movie has just acquired Dave Kajganich to write the screenplay, but the rumor that up-and-coming director and Ridley Scott protoge Carl Erik Rinsch would direct is apparently untrue. There's no director currently listed, but The Hunger Games director Gary Ross is producing along with his partner Allison Thomas, which is cool considering Ross' father was one of the writers on the original 1954 classic.

I hate to be negative here, but hiring Kajganich doesn't exactly inspire confidence. The guy wrote The Invasion, the 2007 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which ended up with a 20% on Rotten Tomatoes. He's also been working on remakes of It, The Stand, and Pet Semetary, all Stephen King properties that, all things considered, should probably just be left alone.

I suppose we'll wait to see who is brought on to direct, because if they get a solid writer/director on board, maybe that person can take a pass at this script when it gets closer to production. There's no start date yet, but we'll keep you posted on updates as they roll in.

GANGSTER SQUAD - 5 New Character Posters

Yesterday Warner Bros. released a badass new trailer for Gangster Squad, and if you haven't watch it yet you've got to check it out right here! Today the studio has released five new character posters from the highly anticipated Ruben Fleischer-directed film featuring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi and Anthony Mackie.

The movie hits theaters on January 11th, and I can't wait!

Here's the Synopsis:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and--if he has his way--every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart. "Gangster Squad" is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD's efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Back when Prometheus was nothing more than an ambiguous trailer I had a friend bet me that you could use the music featured and literally make anything sound creepy. This video is evidence of that. Never before have I felt the gravity behind skinning small puppies and using their furs for a coat! I would love to see more videos mashed up with this music! Great video  and keep up the good work!

Tom Harper to Direct THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH

Hammer Films has hired U.K. director Tom Harper (The Borrowers) to helm the sequel to the Daniel Radcliffe horror film The Woman in Black.

The sequel is called The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, and the story takes place "four decades after the events of the first film, setting the story during World War II with the arrival of a group of evacuee children at Eel Marsh House."

Sounds like a good creepy setting. According to the announcement this is "the next installment in the series," so I imagine we'll get a few more Woman in Black movies in the future if they keep doing well at the box office. The script for the sequel was written by Jon Croker from an original story by author Susan Hill.

I loved the first film, it had a great creepy, old school horror movie vibe to it. I'm looking forward to seeing how this sequel turns out! Hopefully it will be just as good and creepy.

Did you like the first Woman in Black movie?

NYCC is in full swing today, and as a result the official synopsis for Marvel/Disney's Thor: The Dark World has been revealed. The plot outline confirms that the Alan Taylor-directed film will include all of Norse Mythology's Nine Realms, and even gives a glimpse into what villain Thor will face. Keep reading for all the details.

Official Synopsis:

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962.

“Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

I am super excited for the sequel after reading this, and am interested in seeing what Taylor is able to do with the film. Do you think that the sequel will be better than the first film?

Ryan Reynolds and Jon Favreau Race towards BONNEVILLE

Battle for Bonneville is one step closer to production. Deadline reports that New Regency is in final negotiations buy the racing flick that has Ryan Reynolds (Safe House) attached to star and Jon Favreau (Iron Man) to direct. The film is based on the life of Art and Walt Arfons, "half-brothers who were rivals on the race track until they put aside their differences and teamed to set the world land speed record three times."

Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) wrote the script. Gilroy is currently polishing a script for Pursuit for Universal and Captivate.  Favreau has supposedly always been fascinated by muscle cars, and is attached for that reason. The Iron Man director is also is prepping Jersey Boys, with hopes for this project to film next.

The brothers used a jet-powered race car in the Utah salt flats, so this movie could feature some amazing cinematography, not to mention some pulse pounding sound. I am interested because I also love fast cars, and enjoy period films. Do you think this sounds like a movie you would watch?

Universal Pictures has released two more character posters for Les Misérables  featuring Anne Hathaway and Fantine and Amanda Seyfried as Cosette. You can see the previously released posters of Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and young Cosette.

The movie was directed by Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and also stars Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

The movie is scheduled to be released on December 25th. If you know the story and have seen the musical who is your favorite character in is, and what's your favorite song?

J. Michael Straczynski Writing Film Based On SHADOWMAN Comic

$

Deadline reports that prolific comic writer J. Michael Straczynski is tackling the screenplay for Shadowman, a movie based on a Valiant Comic character of the same name.

The character of Shadowman has been around since the early 90s and though the mantle has been passed on a few different times, the most popular iteration surrounded New Orleans jazz musician Jack Boniface. Jack survives a nightmarish attack by a stoke of luck, but then becomes the title character, a guy who roams the streets at night looking for injustice and settling scores left and right. He has increased sight and physical abilities at night, and by day, he's back to his normal self.

The series has been running for years and spawned two popular video games as well, so it's only natural that its next leap would be to the big screen. Seems like this could be a slick, violent movie with a great soundtrack and setting, and even though there's no director signed on yet, this film has Sean Daniel on board to produce; I'll trust the guy who produced Tombstone, Dazed and Confused, and Mallrats to give us something unique here.

Are you a fan of the Shadowman comics? What do you think of a film adaptation?

NYCC 2012: X-MEN Panel

$

At the X-Men Panel I sat in front of the big names controlling the future of our favorite Mutants. Nick Lowe- Editor, Rick Remender- Uncanny Avengers, Si Spurrier- X-Men: Legacy, Peter David- X-Factor, Jason Aaron- Wolverine and the X-Men, Gerry Dugan- Deadpool, and the most bad ass name Dennis Hopeless- Cable and the X-Force.

Even though Brian Michael Bendis was not there, there was still a good amount of talk about his new series, All New X-Men, which sees the first students of Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngster get transported to the present, the roster is (Human-like) Beast, Angel, Iceman, Cyclops and Jean Grey.

Even though I think time-travel is overused (especially in X-Men)... I think that the Young Cyclops will replace the corrupted one because Young Scott Summers’ ideals are still in the right place. The first 3 months of the comic will be bi-weekly -- which means, if you’re bad at math, 6 issues in all. 3 lucky fans got to read, or shall I say look at, the art without text for the entire first issue.

Next up was Uncanny Avengers, which from the mouth of Rick Remender himself, at its most basic is to remind humans and heroes alike that, “Mutants do good.” He also stated that the recent X-men books have fundamentally been about mutants trying to survive, these new ones though (aside from Cable and the X-force) are the opposite. Now they get to play hero again. The art is done by John Cassaday

The first story arc for Uncanny Avengers will revolve around Red Skull trying (and maybe achieving?) to get his hands on Professor X’s brain. The first issue is on sale now!

Then the discussion moved on to Cable and the X-force, the X-title I am looking forward to the most, the lineup is Cable, Forge, Domino, Colossus and Dr. Nemesis. Forge is finally back! David Hopeless described the comic as having 90’s action, but with modern down to earth storytelling. The art will be done by Salvador Larroca and it looks spectacular.

As Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force comes to a close, it is time for some new blood to take the reins, with Sam Humphries as scribe and Ron Garney on the art. The team will be headed by Mohawk Storm (with reasoning to be explained in the near future) and Psylocke, with Spiral and Puck rounding out the cast. The first arc will see them go head to head with Bishop, one of my favorite X-Characters.

Next up was X-Men Legacy, which will see Legion front and center. For those of you who are unaware, Legion is Professor X’s biological son, and now that Professor X has died, Legion is looking for purpose. The title certainly fits. I am excited to see the events that transpire between the pages.

The discussion then moved onto Savage Wolverine. Both written and drawn by Frank Cho, this is a very pulp action/fiction style Wolverine book. He will be taken to the Savage Land where we will see him do battle with dinosaurs and mutated Gorillas. There were also mentions of rotating guest stars.

Then they talked about the lovably psychotic hitman you know as Deadpool. In case you didn’t love Deadpool yet the art will be done by Tony Moore, which in my opinion is a huge plus. The first major story arc will revolve around a necromancer reanimating all of the dead presidents into evil zombies with Deadpool left having to take out the trash. There was talk of an issue in which Deadpool goes head to head with FDR -- over the top and insane like always.

Then X-Factor took center stage with Peter David talking about the upcoming issue 250 which will be his 100th consecutive issue on X-Factor. The upcoming story arc will be one that has been hinted at in the pages of Venom. In which the Lords of Hell come to Earth to vie for the Devil’s throne. The story arc is called "Hell on Earth" and rightfully so.

Lastly, was the ongoing Gambit title and its future. They said it will be more gritty with mobsters becoming a real problem for Remy Lebeau.

Well that was all from the X-Men panel.

Which title are you most excited for?

NYCC 2012: Marvel NOW! Panel

$

I was lucky enough to get great seating for the panel which mapped out the future for Marvel comics and the heroes between the pages.

Among the panel was Axel Alonso- Editor-in-Chief, Jason Aaron- Thor: God of Thunder, Mark Waid- Indestructible Hulk, Rick Remender- Captain America, Kieron Gillen- Iron Man.

They kicked things off with Iron Man. Gillen takes the pen from Matt Fraction and in my opinion, for the better. When Fraction first started on Iron Man it was awesome but as time went by I could see the story losing steam and becoming slower and slower. Gillen wants to take Tony Stark to the edge of science and really push Iron Man to the limits of what Stark thinks is possible. He wants it to have a philosophical and thought provoking impact on readers. An added element that we will see with the new Iron Man series is a mobile armory in which Tony must decide (quickly) which suit is best for the job and of course decisions have consequences.

Next was Thor: God of Thunder, Aaron is writing with Esad Ribic on art duties. The story will start with young Thor as somewhat of a barbarian Viking wielding an axe and such… before he was worthy of wielding the hammer, the story will continue through present Thor, the one we know and love, and the story will ultimately take us to old future Thor as a psychologically scarred one-armed and one-eyed King of a Broken Asgard.

The first major story arc revolves around Gor the God Butcher, who Aaron said, “is basically a serial killer who only goes after gods… and it’s up to Thor to defeat him." This enemy will tie into all 3 phases of Thor’s life.

Next up was the new Captain America series written by Rick Remender and drawn by John Romita Jr.. This is one that I am looking forward to but I am still a bit on the fence. The story will start out with young skinny Rogers in his East Brooklyn days where we will get to know his parents and see why he wanted to become a soldier so badly. Then the bulk of the story will be a different Cap series than what we have seen in the past…very Sci-Fi oriented. Some of it will take place in space and in a place called Dimension Z. The main villain in the first story arc will be Arnim Zola, a Bio Nazi Terrorist. Cap will also get trapped in Dimension Z at some point becoming a castaway in a foreign land yet again. This is a bit out there for a Captain America series but Remender has proven himself time and time again.

Then Waid, the main who reinvented Daredevil, is on to reinvent the Hulk. We will see a more scientifically minded Banner who works for SHEILD (when he isn’t hulking out) making things for the betterment of mankind. Waid referenced this change in motive to Banner realizing that he doesn’t want his tombstone to read “HULK SMASH.” He wants to be remembered but not by his rage but by his mind. Throughout the series there will be hints as to why SHIELD is okay letting a volatile individual work on the Helicarrier. Bruce supposedly has leverage but we don’t know what exactly.

Then they talked about my favorite upcoming Marvel series, the new Thunderbolts series, which see the anti-hero killers of the Marvel Universe all on one team. Led by Red Hulk, with Venom, Elektra, Deadpool, and weirdest of all, the Punisher. They have no qualms about killing, this will be an action heavy series with inner conflicts abundant between the teammates. It is odd to see Punisher, the man renowned for working alone, on a team and they know this. Alonso stated that, “This will be explained in the first issue.” Good enough for me.

Lastly, there were two semi-announcements, when a fan asked whether there will be more female heroes coming center stage thanks to the success of the Black Widow in Avengers, Alonso said that they have an idea for a power diva team but nothing is set in stone yet. I also asked them about the future of Iron Fist and Doctor Strange now that the defenders are ending. They hinted at an imminent announcement. They also stated that we can catch them as part of the supporting cast in upcoming books as well.

What upcoming Marvel Now book are you most excited for?
