Netflix's BLOODLINE Gets an Atmospheric New Season 2 Trailer

0
0

Here's the first trailer for the second season of Netflix's critically-acclaimed original series Bloodline. I still haven't caught up with season one, and if you're in the same boat and actually plan on watching the second season, I'd recommend skipping this trailer because it contains information about a major character who died in the first season.

I don't know much about this show yet — I'll hopefully catch up with it one of these days — but I really like cast, and the cinematography and moody lighting at least make it look stunning. Have you seen the first season? What'd you think about it? Does this trailer get you pumped for season 2?

Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini, Ben Mendelsohn, John Leguizamo, and more star, and Bloodline returns to Netflix on May 27th.

Season 2 begins with the Rayburn family struggling to conceal their unthinkable crime. Mysterious strangers from Danny’s past arrive with a dangerous agenda. Law enforcement is closing in on the truth behind Danny’s murder. And the tight-knit family’s once harmonious relationship is poisoned by paranoia and mistrust as it slowly begins to unravel. Lies mount. Alliances are betrayed. Relationship are destroyed. With their backs against the wall, good people may have to do some very bad things…

Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley Recreate EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Moment, and The Internet Responds Accordingly

Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley celebrated her 24th birthday yesterday, and to mark the occasion, her Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill shared a photo on Twitter of the two of them recreating a moment from The Empire Strikes Back on the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

As you might expect, fans jumped on this and immediately started adding tweaks to the pic in Photoshop and tagging Hamill in them on Twitter. He retweeted all of the following images, many of which are pretty funny:

Star Wars: Episode VIII arrives on December 16, 2017.

WOLVERINE 3 Finds Villain in NARCOS Star Boyd Holbrook

The still-untitled third Wolverine solo movie (let's just call it Wolverine 3 for now) has found its main villain. Deadline reports that Boyd Holbrook, who plays DEA agent Steve Murphy in the Netflix series Narcos, will play "a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise" who goes up against Hugh Jackman's gruff hero. Good luck with that, bub.

If you haven't seen Narcos, you may recognize Holbrook from his roles in Milk, Gone Girl, A Walk Among the Tombstones, or Run All Night. The description of his character for this movie is pretty vague, so I can't even fathom a guess as to which Marvel character he might be playing here. 20th Century Fox is obviously limited in regards to which characters they have the rights to, so maybe they're just making up an entirely new villain for Holbrook to play since they won't be able to create a perfect adaptation of the Old Man Logan comic anyway. Patrick Stewart is back on board as Professor X, Liev Schreiber may return as Sabretooth, and the film will reportedly be rated R, so we expect Jackman to finally unleash the berserker rage on screen.

Production on Wolverine 3 starts in May, and the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 3, 2017. That seems like a fairly quick turnaround for a film that I assume will need a considerable amount of VFX work done, but hopefully director James Mangold can make it work.

Here's How Finn Jones is Preparing to Play IRON FIST

One of the things that sort of got lost in the monumental HBO series Game of Thrones is just how great of a fighter Ser Loras Tyrell is. I understand that they don't have time to flesh things out to the same extent that George R.R. Martin does in his A Song of Ice and Fire novels, but it would have been cool to see more of Loras earning his reputation as a badass warrior.

But it looks like actor Finn Jones, who plays Loras, will be able to show off his fighting prowess in another show instead. He recently cast as the lead in Marvel's upcoming Netflix series Iron Fist, and in the new print issue of EW (via ComicBook), he spoke a little about the training he's doing to embody the new hero. He's training for multiple hours a day doing "kung fu and wushu mixed with a bit of tai chi," as well as weight training "to bulk up." And on the mental side of things, he's studying Buddhism and meditation.

"I've always dreamed of a role that bridged spiritual discipline and badass superhero," he told the magazine. "There's a contradiction in those elements that's going to be very fun to play."

OK...that seems like a very specific dream for a part to play, but I'm happy he found it. We'll have to wait until 2017 to see if fans agree and are pleased with his portrayal of the character, but things seem to be moving forward quickly; the producers just hired one of his fellow GOT cast members last week.

New Trailer and Poster For TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS

0

Paramount Pictures has released a brand new trailer and poster for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. I've gotta say: while I wasn't a huge fan of the first movie, I can totally see how I would have been all about it as a kid (mainly because I was a massive fan of the 1990 movie and its sequels). The longevity of this franchise has been super impressive, and I'm completely at peace with looking at this movie as a version of these characters that's for modern audiences. If I want to check in with my version of the turtles, I can always pop in the older films. Embrace it or pass — it's up to you. I'll give this movie one thing, though: it definitely looks like it's opening the floodgates as far as including a ton of imagery from previous versions of the franchise: Krang, Bepop and Rocksteady, the Technodrome, and Baxter Stockman are all on display here.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hits theaters on June 3rd.

Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to theaters this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.

First Look at PREDATOR VS JUDGE DREDD VS. ALIENS Comic Crossover

Judge Dredd will be battling aliens and Predators in a new Dark Horse crossover comic book miniseries called Predator vs Judge Dredd vs Aliens. The comic was announced by writer John Layman (Chew) at Emerald City Comic Con, and the story centers on Judges Dredd and Anderson “on the hunt for a rogue genetic scientist who has gotten his hands on a Xenomorph skull in the hopes of creating his own breed of the deadliest creature in the galaxy.” Of course the Predator comes along to hunt down the Judges and Xenomorph because as you know, the Predator loves a good challenge.

Layman talked about his upcoming project in an interview with io9 and gives a little set up of how Predator vs Judge Dredd vs Aliens begins:

“One of the things I love about Dredd is the sheer kookiness of the world, so I’m embracing it in a big way. I’m also trying to upend some expectations, not give you more of the usual.
“We open the book with a crashlanded predator, and instead of being the hunter, as usual, the predator is the prey. He’s crashlanded in a jungle overgrowth in the middle of the Cursed Earth, where he is pursued by an Island of Dr. Moreau group of man-animal hybrids, creations of a crazed genetic engineer. And this crazed scientist recovers not just the predator, but some of the predator’s hunting trophies—including a Xenomorph skull, and the Xenomorph’s DNA contained therein. You can probably see where this is headed, but add to it Dredd chasing the robot leader of an apocalypse death cult, and everybody on a collision course. Then shit gets nuts!”

If you enjoy Dark Horse’s crossover comics, then this sounds like one you won’t want to miss! The first of four issues drops on July 27th.

There’s a Lot More Batman in SUICIDE SQUAD Than We Think

theres-a-lot-more-batman-in-suicide-squad-than-we-think

We already know that Batman will appear in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, In the early trailers we saw him riding on top of The Joker’s car, and the most recent trailer featured even more of him. Since it was revealed that Batman would be in the movie, I’ve been wondering how much screen time he would have. I assumed it wouldn’t be that much because the focus is on so many other characters, but it turns out that the Dark Knight might have more of a presence in the film than we think. In a recent episode of Heroic Insider, hosts Umberto Gonzalez and Daniel Alter talk about what they learned from sources who have attended test screenings for the film:

"The film tested recently, they had test screenings, and according to sources, check this out, there is a lot more Batman in the movie than they are letting on."

I was hoping that this would be the case! It’s exciting to think that we’ll see Batman facing off with Amanda Waller and the other villains who make up Task Force X. There was actually a rumor that surfaced last year regarding a scene that could be in the film in which Batman pays a visit to Waller to deliver a stern warning about setting these villains loose on a mission. You can read about that here.

I absolutely love Ben Affleck’s version of Batman, and it’s cool to hear that he might actually have a decent sized part to play in the Suicide Squad story. can't wait to see it!

Want to Know How Much Screen Time Spider-Man Has in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR?

0
0

Last week I was lucky enough to attend an early screening of Captain America: Civil War, and it kicked some major ass. One of my favorite aspects of the film was the introduction of Spider-Man and seeing him fight alongside some of the Avengers. We finally get to see the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he steals every scene that he’s in! Tom Holland makes the perfect Peter Parker, and fans of the character are going to absolutely love what Marvel has done with the web-slinger.

Now, in case you’re wondering just how much screen time Spider-Man has, it's around 30 minutes. There’s about 10 minutes of Peter Parker and about 20 minutes of him as Spider-Man. That's 20 minutes of the character fighting against Team Cap, and it’s an absolute blast to watch! I think fans are going to go nuts over him and are going to leave the theater wanting more like I did. After seeing the character in Civil War, I’m even more excited about what the upcoming solo film from director Jon Watts will bring us.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th. Stay tuned, because my full review of the film will be coming later this week.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Will be More 'Straightforward, Extremely Kinetic and Visual'

Over the weekend, I caught a very interesting article on Variety that talked about the future of Warner Bros. DC Films. They go into detail about how the studio is scrambling to catch up with Marvel; how the studio is panicking after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice saw a 69% drop at the box office; and how the studio wants Geoff Johns to take on a Kevin Feige type role. In regard to that, the report says:

"For a period, WB was keen on Geoff Johns for such a role. But that’s a tall order for DC’s chief creative officer, who is already stretched very thin. While he is currently writing the upcoming stand-alone Batman film with Affleck, he also wears a number of other hats. 'Geoff is really smart, but he’s got like 10 different jobs,' a source says. 'He’s writing comic books, controlling DC, writes on [TV’s] ‘The Flash’ — I would imagine Feige’s is a full-time job just managing this stuff. So I don’t know how you ask Geoff, in the best of both worlds, to do that.'"

I personally don’t think the guy is as talented as Feige, but the studio is trying to work with what they have. One of the most interesting parts in the report is when they talk about director Zack Snyder’s plans for Justice League and how he is going to take it in a different direction than what we’ve seen him do with Man of Steal and Batman v Superman. We’ve already heard that the film will have a lighter tone, and now it seems they want to make more of a “crowd pleaser.”  The report goes on to say:

“As for 'Batman v Superman,' those involved weren’t prepared for the critical knives the film received, but they always knew it was going to be a transitional film, bridging the gap between 'Man of Steel' (which was produced with no plan in place to expand the universe) and anything approaching the Avengers/Super Friends mold. But I’m told 'Justice League' will be a crowd-pleaser more suited to Snyder’s talents, and that the upcoming two-part event is 'extremely kinetic and visual.' It will be far more straightforward than existential in its handling of superheroes.”

They don't say that this tonal shift in Justice League is in response to how people reacted to the darkness of Batman v Superman, but I’m pretty sure that it is. What do you think?

Alternate Colossus Character Design for DEADPOOL

We’ve previously posted concept art showing alternate character designs for Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the Deadpool movie, which were cool. Now concept artist Alexander Lozano has released a few images that show us a very different take on Colossus, and it makes you happy that director Tim Miller went with the look that they did in the film. I don’t like this alternate take on the character at all. What we saw in the film was the comic book version fans always wanted to see. In case you were wondering what in the hell the artist was thinking when he came up with this, here is an explanation:

"Before the 'final design' was found, I tried a few different ways. At that point of time, I didn't know if Colossus was planned as a 'walking around in bright daylight' character or more of a 'hide in the shadows' hero like in the old X-Men days. So I played around with a Darth Maul-hoodie and the idea to place the 'X' very subtle on his chest with the endings of his scarf. I also wanted to repeat the ripples in his arms with the design of the boots. ...and a lot of possibilities to fix all the X-Men mansion keys at his pants."

Colossus looks like a pretty-boy version of the character that you might see on a cheesy CW or MTV young adult series. Check out the alternate character designs below and let us know what you think!

Daniel Brühl Teases Baron Zemo’s Role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

0
0

Spider-Man isn’t the only character in Captain America: Civil War that has been left out of the marketing for the film. We’ve hardly seen anything involving Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo, and there’s a reason for that. He’s a very mysterious character, and he plays a large role in how that story plays out.

I’m not going to spoil anything for you, but I think audiences will be very surprised by how he factors into the movie. During an interview with Total Film, Brühl talked about his character and offered a little more insight. When asked to talk about his character he said:

“I was really told not to because there are so many secrets in the film. And also my character’s quite mysterious, so I’m really scared to say too much. The things I’ve mentioned in interviews before were already too much – and I thought it was nothing!”

I know a lot of fans are wondering how exactly Zemo fits in with the conflict between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. Don’t worry, I’m not going to answer that for you, but I will tell you that he’s not your average kind of villain. The actor explains:

“Yes, but what I like is it’s not a stereotype. It’s not a guy who’s mean and sinister, but he’s actually very clever – a very smart guy who does everything out of a very understandable reason and motivation.”

He then goes on to tease how his character impacts the film. The following comment he makes might be considered light SPOILERS, so proceed with caution.

.
.
.
.
.
.

“Some of the things that happen in the film, and why they happen, are because of him. He is orchestrating things that happen throughout the film. I think that’s something I can say, goddamn it!”

Having seen the film, that’s something that he probably shouldn’t have said. However, it doesn’t give you the details of how he orchestrates everything. One thing I do hope is that the character will be set up as a long-term villain in the MCU.

Captain America: Civil War is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016.

It's videos like this that make me appreciate the work actors and actresses do even more! I don't think I could do most of these scenes if all I had was a green screen and a camera around me! I also didn't realize how much VFX is in Batman v Superman! See all the shots below!

Leonard Nimoy's Death Will Be Recognized in STAR TREK BEYOND

Justin Lin says that the death of Leonard Nimoy will be acknowledged in Star Trek Beyond. 1701 news says the director said we will see a reference to the actor made in the film...

"It's something you'll see in the film...It obviously affected everybody because he's been a big part of our lives. There's an attempt to acknowledge that in some way."

I'm curious to see how the film will pay homage to one of the series' greatest actors. Nimoy being a part of the reboot was a cool addition for fans new and old! I hope this movie does right by him!

"Make no mistake, the dead are coming."

HBO has unleashed a new trailer for Games of Thrones season six, and by the end of it, you're just going to be pissed off that you can't watch the entire season right now! It's easily the most epic trailer we've seen for the upcoming season yet, and it looks like fans are in store for some incredible things! The latest trailer is packed full of new footage and touches on several of the storylines that we were left hanging at the end of season five.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24.

David Ayer Says SUICIDE SQUAD Reshoots Are for Action, Not Humor

0
0

After a stream of rumors after Suicide Squad went in for reshoots a couple weeks back, David Ayer took to Twitter to set the record straight...

The initial rumors in question said the film went to shoot more comedy segments to make the movie more like Guardians of The Galaxy and not be "too serious" like Batman v Superman (don't flame me I'm just relaying what was said). Typically, if studios really like your film, however, they don't give you a license to change things...so I am curious about that. We'll see for sure when the film drops August 5th!

Peek Behind the Scenes of KONG: SKULL ISLAND in New Video

We are still almost a year away from the release of Kong: Skull Island, but the cast and crew have been hard at work filming on locations around the world, or at least around the Ring of Fire. They took some time out to hold an incredibly large, phallic microphone and talk to MTV about the movie, their characters, the Vietnam-era setting, and more! The video also includes behind the scenes footage of the production. Cast members interviewed in the video, which premiered before the MTV Movie Awards, include Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell. The film’s cast also includes Toby Kebbell, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly, some of whom appear in the footage..

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Kong: Skull Island is set to roar into theaters on March 10, 2017.

Disney Is Moving Forward With THE JUNGLE BOOK 2

Disney's upcoming live-action/CGI adaptation of The Jungle Book is a wonderful film, not only did I give it a great review, but so did a lot of other critics that have seen it. You can read my review of it here. Disney obviously feels that they have a hit on their hands, so now they are already moving forward with a sequel.

The studio is in talks with director Jon Favreau and screenwriter Justin Marks to return to develop the sequel. Producer Brigham Taylor is also going to jump on board as the film's producer. After watching the movie, I was hoping we would see a sequel not only because it was great, but because the first film pretty much sets it up to continue the adventures of Mowgli, Baloo, and the rest of his animal friends.

The movie is expected to blow up at the box office this weekend when it opens in theaters. Favreau’s film features the voices of Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Begheera, Scarlet Johansson as Kaa, and Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha the mother wolf. Neel Sethi took on the only human part in the film, Mowgli. All of these actors are expected to return for the sequel.
