SPIDER-MAN 2 - Shailene Woodley in Talks to Play Mary Jane

0
0

Sony may have found its Mary Jane for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) is in early talks to play the love interest, according to Variety. The rising star is currently the top choice to star alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in the Amazing Spider-Man sequel being directed by Marc Webb. Producers are also seeking an actor to play Harry Osborn, Peter Parker's best friend and eventual enemy. In Sam Raimi's trilogy, the role was played by James Franco with Kirsten Dunst playing M.J..

Filming is slated to begin early next year, so there is a bunch of time to figure out which Marvel villain Spider-Man will battle. Rumors have been circulating lately that Electro will be the villain, after recent casting calls went out to talent agencies. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created Electro, who is the namesake of Max Dillon, an enemy of Spider-Man who gains the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. Seeing as how lightning is a prominent factor in the post-credits scene of the first film, it is a logical guess that Electro could be involved.

Woodley made waves after starring in Descendants and was nominated for a Golden Globe and won an Independent Spirit Award. Despite numerous other film offers, she has been focused on her role in TV's The Secret Life of the American Teenager. The show will end its run after its upcoming fifth season. She is set to star in Gregg Araki's indie drama White Bird and recently wrapped James Ponsoldt's The Spectacular Now with Miles Teller.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014. I think that Woodley would be a great fit for Mary Jane. Electro would also make a formidable villain for the sequel. What are your thoughts on this news?

Watch Joe Carnahan's GEMINI MAN Pitch Video Featuring Clint Eastwood

0
0

A few months ago, The Grey director Joe Carnahan released a couple of pitch videos he created to show the studio what his take on what a Daredevil reboot would look like. The results were pretty awesome, and though he still might be able to move forward on that project at Disney later down the line, it seems unlikely that he'll be able to make a film with the same grungy tone at such a family-friendly studio.

Now Carnahan has released another pitch video, this one for another Disney project called Gemini Man that never made it to the screen. It's about an old hitman who fights a younger clone of himself. If you think that sounds similar to Looper, you're not alone, but I doubt the development of Rian Johnson's time travel project was what caused Disney to pull the plug on this one. Check out Carnahan's pitch, which features Clint Eastwood as both the old and young assassin:

Eastwood seems like the perfect choice for this project, and it might actually be interesting if someone was able to get this off the ground now and splice in new footage of Eastwood interacting with clips of himself from older films. Go to the same locations, dress them up to look the same as they did in the 70s and 80s, and it sounds like a groundbreaking project. I interviewed Carnahan for The Grey and he seems like a really great guy, and it's cool to see that he's open enough with his fans to share these sizzle reels with us even though the projects likely won't ever happen.

What do you think of his take on Gemini Man?

Badass New DJANGO UNCHAINED Trailer

Another full trailer has been released for Quentin Tarantino's awesome looking western/southern Django Unchained, and it features a ton of great new footage as well as snappy, fun Tarantino style dialogue! It gives us a better look at how sinister Leonado DiCaprio's character is in the movie. It's weird seeing him in such a dark yet comedic role, but it looks like he pulled it off brilliantly. The trailer also gives us our first look at Jonah Hill's role in the story. This is sure to be one of the best movies of the year, and I'm excited to see how this story turns out in the end.

Here's the Synopsis:

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award(R)-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award(R)-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles--dead or alive.

The movie hits theaters on Christmas Day December 25th! A great movie for the whole family! Enjoy the new trailer!

TROLLHUNTER Director Tackling Comic Adaptation ENORMOUS

Looks like the director of Trollhunter is going from making a movie about something big to making one about something even bigger.

THR reports that Andre Ovredal is teaming with Hitman producer Adrian Askarieh to direct and produce (respectively) an adaptation of the comic Enormous, a monster-based comic from writer Tim Daniel that explores what would happen to humanity if gigantic creatures were created and start destroying civilization. Ovredal and his team plan not only to make a feature film, but they have a Dark Tower-esque plan to create a high quality web series and television show in order to tell the story of humanity's struggle from multiple perspectives. Sounds like an Enormous undertaking, indeed.

I wasn't a huge fan of the found-footage effort Trollhunter, but a lot of people dug it, so I can see why they'd be psyched to check out Ovredal's next project, especially considering how ambitious it is. They're trying for something with the same tone as Cloverfield and The Walking Dead here, and if they can pull it off, it sounds like it could be the next big thing in Hollywood. Casting will certainly play a key role, so we'll keep you posted with more updates as they develop.

Rupert Sanders Eyes Tom Cruise's VAN HELSING

Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) may have found his next project. Twitch reports that he is circling the director's chair of Universal's upcoming Van Helsing

It is obvious that Universal wants to keep Sanders on their team whether or not he actually directs the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman. So they are trying to entice the director to helm the project. Tom Cruise is set to produce and star in the title role after his next project, All You Need Is Kill. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman penned the story.

I think Sanders can definitely handle an effects-heavy action film of this caliber, and would like to see him take the job. Do you think that Sanders would be a good director to take on this film?

First Look At The Villain Viper From THE WOLVERINE!

0

I know that I might not be in the popular group when I say this, but I am excited for The Wolverine to come out. The comics of Wolverine in Japan are fantastic and I am thrilled to see that this story is being brought to the big screen. I have a glimmer of hope that it might actually be a decent film. With that, let’s get into the good stuff.

Not very much has been leaked from the set of this film, and what has, really hasn’t been too substantial. For those of you interested in seeing what they have planned, here are the first shots of Svetlana Khodchenkova, who is playing the villain Viper (Madame Hydra), from the set of the upcoming film. The guys over at CBM have brought these to our attention. Here are the pics and a little background on where they come from. Enjoy!

While the majority of filming is complete, the first photos of Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova on the set of Fox's X-Men: Origins followup, The Wolverine, have surfaced online via HughJackMania. After Total Recall actress Jessica Biel had to turn down the role, Khodchenkova's inclusion in the Hugh Jackman-starrer had yet to be confirmed. But thanks to a heads up via StarkIndistries.Ru, the actress is now seen sporting her ‘Viper’ garb, surrounded by armed apparent villains, at an unknown filming location.

New LES MISERABLES Poster Featuring Jackman as Jean Valjean

0

Universal Pictures has released a new character poster for the great looking big screen adaptation of the classic musical Les Misérables. It features Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean. The Tom Hooper-directed movie also stars Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

The movie is scheduled to be released on December 25th. I imagine we'll get another trailer sometime soon. Hopefully we get to hear one or more of the other cast members singing one of the classic songs. Who do you think will end up having the best singing voice in the movie?

Chris Hemsworth Offered $10 Million to Star in AMERICAN ASSASSIN

0

CBS Films is looking to cast Thor star Chris Hemsworth in their big screen adaptation of the action novel American Assassin. They want him so bad that they offered him a cool $10 million! Hell, you'd take it, right?

The book was written by Vince Flynn, and it's the eleventh book in a series of espionage novels. The novel is a prequel to the other books that explain how tragedy transformed the main character Mitch Rapp from a college scholar and athlete into a ruthless hunter of terrorists for the CIA.

It was previously reported that Bruce Willis is also in talks to take on the role of a CIA operative mentor that takes Rapp under his wing. The film is set to be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, who has directed episodes of Showtime’s Homeland, and also made the Don Cheadle political thriller Traitor. Seems like he's a solid choice for taking on a film project like this. Marshall Herskovitz (The Last Samurai) adapted the screenplay with Ed Zwick who was also attached to direct the film at one point.

Do you think Hemsworth is worth $10 million dollars to star in a movie?

Here's a description of the Novel:

"American Assassin" tells the story of legendary CIA agent Mitch Rapp. Long before he began hunting terrorists, Rapp was a gifted college scholar/athlete. Then, tragedy struck and Rapp was recruited into the nation’s most elite covert operations program. After completing training designed to teach the kind of lethal skills necessary to target our most dangerous enemies, here and abroad, he is a man reborn with a mission of retribution.

FOX Wants CHRONICLE 2 to be the Same Movie as the First One

0
0

Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis has written a sequel, and according to his dad, John Landis, the script is awesome, but FOX studio doesn't like it because it's not the same movie as the first one. This is the kind of stuff that happens in Hollywood that ticks me off! Now, why in the hell do we want to see the same movie twice?! Here's what John Landis had to say in a recent interview with The Playlist,

He wrote a sequel and it’s amazing, and the studio read it and said, ‘We want Chronicle again!’ And he said, ‘No, this is the sequel, it’s the evolution, and they said ‘No, we want that movie again!’ So it’s difficult, we’re dealing with a difficult business.’

Come on FOX, let the freakin' story move forward! Let Landis work his magic, he knows these characters and world better than anyone else. I'm sure anyone that enjoyed the first film will want to see an evolved sequel as well. I hope Landis fights for his vision of the story and wins. I want to see the story he wants to make, not the one the movie studio wants to make.

The first movie told the story of three high school students who come across something that gives them superhero like telekinetic powers. As they learn to control their abilities and use them more, their lives start to spin out of control, and one of them embraces his dark side.

So do you want what FOX wants in a Chronicle sequel or what Landis wants?

Robert Zemeckis' FLIGHT Has an Extended TV Spot

Here's a new extended trailer for director Robert Zemeckis' great looking film, Flight. The movie has a great cast that included Denzel Washington, Kelly Reilly, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty, John Goodman, and Tamara Tunie.

In the story, Washington plays an airline pilot (Whip) who manages to crash land a plane saving 98 lives on a flight carrying 106 people. He's seen as a hero, but things take a turn for the worse when an investigation of the crash uncovers the fact that the pilot was flying under the influence of alcohol.

I'm excited for this movie! I'm excited to see another good live-action Zemeckis movie! You can see the director's style written all over this film, and it's something I've missed seeing over the last few years.

Here's a Synopsis:

Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot, miraculously crash lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault and what really happened on that plane?

Flight comes out on November 2nd. What would you say one of your favorite Robert Zemeckis movies is? What are your expectations for this film?

NBC Will Air MUNSTERS Pilot as Halloween Special

0
0

Even though it doesn't look like NBC will be picking up Bryan Fuller's new Munsters series Mockingbird Lane, the network has decided to air the pilot episode directed by Bryan Singer as a Halloween Special.

The pilot of the episode has been in development for two years and has cost the network $10 million so it makes sense that they would want to get it on the air. Who knows, maybe if it does well, they will order up a few more episodes.

The show is based on the 1964 comedy TV series the follows a family of monsters that consists of a vampire, werewolf, Frankenstein and their normal cousin. It stars Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster who is married to a vampire named Lily, played by Portia De Rossi. Together they have a 10-year-old boy named Eddie (Mason Cook) who's a werewolf. Herman works at a funeral home, and worries that Eddie’s transformation into a werewolf and burgeoning awareness of his family’s origins will crush the boy’s spirit. Eddie Izzard plays Grandpa.

There's no word yet on when the show will air, but it will most likely be the week of October 31st, on or before Halloween. I'm curious to see how this turned out.

Are you you excited that you get to at least see the pilot episode of this series?

The Origin of THE AVENGERS Shawarma Scene Came from BUFFY

0

It looks like the origin of the classic Tony Stark shawarma scene in The Avengers can be found in the early days of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In a special feature included in the Buffy Chosen Collection, Joss Whedon explains that the reason that Nicholas Brendon (Xander) is on the show is because he inserted a shawarma reference into his audition. Whedon explained,

We brought him in, we weren't sure, it wasn't a slam dunk, it hardly ever is … and Nicky just tore the place apart, was just weird. We hadn't seen it before. Afterwards, he was like, 'Does anybody feel like shawarma? I feel like some shawarma!' And I was like, 'This guy speaks to me!' That was it. I knew there was no other Xander.

He continues saying,

If you had said falafel, you might not be here.

That's pretty awesome! You can watch the video below! I guess may Brendon should have received a special thanks in the credits or something for being so spontaneous and coming up with a future Avengers scene. I think it's about time I watch Buffy again. What do you think of the origin of the shawarma scene?

NYCC 2012: Hasbro's IRON MAN 3 Mark XLVII Action Figure

Hasbro unveiled one of their biggest new 8-inch action figures at this years New York Comic-Con, the Iron Man 3 Mark XLVII armor. I've also included photos of some of the other Marvel character action figures. I know when the armor was first revealed a lot of people didn't like it, but have you warmed up to the new design? If not, just wait until you see it in action, that will sell you on it for sure.

New LES MISERABLES Poster Features Russull Crowe as Javert

Here's another character poster for the big screen adaptation of the classic musical Les Misérables. It features Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert. The Tom Hooper-directed movie also stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

We still have yet to hear what Crowe sounds like when he sings. I've heard almost everyone else in the movie sing a little, but Crowe's voice still remains a mystery. Out of everyone in the film, he's the one I'm not sure about when it comes to singing. I'm curious to hear how he sounds, but he definitely looks the part!

Do you think Crowe will be able to awesomely pull of the musical numbers in the film?

Watch LINCOLN Q&A with Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis

Lincoln director Steven Spielberg and actor Daniel Day-Lewis recently spent 42 talking about their latest amazing looking film project and answering some questions about the long awaited historical epic. I've always been fascinated with the Abraham Lincoln and Civil War history, and I've been waiting for a movie like this to be made for years! I couldn't be happier that Spielberg was finally able to make it happen, and that Day-Lewis was able to take on the role.

I have no doubt this movie is going to be nominated for several awards over the next few months, and it will most likely win a bunch of them. I haven't seen the movie yet, but you can already tell it's going to be that good.

The movie also stars Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, James Spader, Hal Holbrook, and Tommy Lee JonesLincoln will open in limited release on November 9th, 2012, and will begin rolling out nationwide on November 16th. Hope you enjoy the Q&A session!

The movie focuses on the Lincoln’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come. The story is based in part on the Doris Kearns Goodwin book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.

Disney Princesses DOCTOR WHO Mashup

Here's a fun mashup that reimagines the Disney Princesses as The Doctors from the classic BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who. The creatively cute character designs come from artist Amy Mebberson, and they turned out awesome!

She will actually have a print of this available at New York Comic-Con this week at table C16 in Artists’ Alley. So if you're there you should stop by and say hi to the artist. I love walking through artists' alleys at these conventions. There's so much cool stuff to see!

The French Got a Cool Poster for LOOPER

Looper is one of my favorite movies of the year! It was such a badass film, and if you haven't seen it yet, make some time to check it out! I promise you wont be disappointed. France got itself a really cool alternate poster design for the movie that you can check out above. I like the vintage style poster look that it has.

If you've seen Looper already, tell us what you thought about it! What would you say your favorite part of the movie was?

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented - but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" - a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good... until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe's future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.
