The Caped Crusader and The Man of Steel are about to go head to head this weekend in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Screen Junkies is making sure that the theater isn't the only place the two heroes are going to face off. They've created two new Honest Trailers — one for Tim Burton's 1989 Batman, and one for Richard Donner's 1978 Superman: The Movie — and are leaving it up to you to decide which one wins. If Batman triumphs, they'll do an Honest Trailer for Batman Begins, and if Superman: The Movie wins, we'll get one for Superman Returns. Watch both below and let us know which is better:

Ron Perlman and Christopher Plummer Cast in H.P. Lovecraft Animated Film

There have been many versions of H.P. Lovecraft’s work, and there are a lot of Lovecraft fans out there ready to soak it up. Well, if you are one of those fans, I have some good news for you.

The graphic novel Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom by Bruce Brown is being turned into an animated film. Deadline informed us that casting has begun, and the production has landed two big fish. Veteran actors Christopher Plummer and Ron Pearlman will be lending their talents to the movie. Here is what the report had to say about it:

Ron Perlman and Christopher Plummer Cast in H.P. Lovecraft Animated Film1
"Ron Perlman and Christopher Plummer have been cast in the upcoming animated film Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom from filmmaker (and Arcana Studios CEO) Sean Patrick O’Reilly. The film, based on Bruce Brown’s popular graphic novel of the same name, is being done in conjunction with Shout! Factory. Perlman will voice the role of Shoggoth, and Plummer has been cast in the role of Dr. Herbert West."

For those of you who are not familiar with the story, I will try to sum it up. The story follows a young Howard Lovecraft who visits his estranged father in a mental institute. In the meeting, his father gives him one piece of advice, do not read the Necronomicon. Thanks to his loving mother who gives him the book as a gift, he reads it. In doing so, it sends him to a different world that he must try to survive in. During his journey, he befriends a creature that he dubs Spot and adventures ensue.

It has been said that this is a great introduction into the world of H.P. Lovecraft. Of course, there are mixed reactions to it, and I wouldn’t expect anything less. I am eagerly anticipating this movie because it sounds like nothing less than a fun ride.

Taylor Kitsch Set to Star in and Direct His Thriller PIECES

Lone Survivor star Taylor Kitsch is set to make his directorial debut with a film he wrote called Pieces. The actor is also set to star in the thriller as one of three best friends from Detroit “who change the course of their lives by intercepting a drug run.”

The film is being produced by the team that brought us Lone Survivor, including producer Peter Berg, whom Kitsch has had a relationship with since he starred in NBC’s Friday Night Lights

It good to see Kitsch finding his stride and pushing himself to do new and different things. The poor guy had a rough transition into film with big budget movie flops like John Carter and Battleship. I wasn’t sure if he’d ever recover, but he seems to be doing just fine.

I’m not really sure what to expect from Pieces, but it would be pretty cool if Kitsch turned out to be a solid writer and director. We’ll just have to wait and see how that plays out when the movie is released.

Pieces will shoot this summer in Texas.

Kevin Conroy Shares His Thoughts on The BATMAN V SUPERMAN Debate

$

Kevin Conroy has provided the voice of the Caped Crusader over the years in Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and several other animated films including the upcoming Batman: The Killing Joke. He will always be the definitive voice of Batman to me. No Batman ever has ever sounded so badass.

He recently released a video in which he offers his opinion on the Batman v Superman debate, as in which of the two heroes would win in a fight. We all know who he would choose, and he explains why in the video below:

“[Batman] is an extraordinary man. He’s always had to rely on his wits. He’s had to think his way out of things. He’s had to create devices, create machines, and he thinks on so many different levels. He’s such a complicated guy, and that’s why I think audiences relate to him so much, because they know he’ll always manage to work his way out of something. Batman can think his way out of things. He can create his ways out of things, and that’s power.”

I know Superman has these “superpowers” but I will always back up my boy Batman. They guy has some mad skills, and he’s a hell of a lot smarter than Superman. I believe that people with wits will always have the upper hand in a fight regardless of whether or not they have superpowers.

Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman himself, has a message for you! Tell us if you agree with him, and don’t forget to watch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters March 25! #WhoWillWin

Watch the Before and After Visual Effects of 20 Scenes from Popular Movies

Pretty much every big blockbuster movie these days relies heavily on visual effects and CGI. Sometimes you can tell when these visual effects are added, while other times it later shocks you to learn that something that looked so real was, in fact, a VFX shot. Either way, it's always good when the effects are top notch. When shooting these films, it's gotta be hard for the actors at times shooting against a green screen, wearing a spandex suit with balls all over it, or interacting with a character that isn't even there.

ScreenRant has released a great video that shows us the before and after visual effects of 20 scenes from popular movies. Some of the movies included in the list are The Revenant, Gravity, Man of Steel, Inception,Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Empire Strikes Back, Mad Max: Fury Road, Captain America, and more.

The age of computer effects and digital movie universes is upon us, but the average moviegoer might not realize just how much of the experience is faked, or modified. With that in mind, we're giving another dose of CGI trivia in the latest edition of Screen Rant's Know Your Movies: 20 Movies Scenes Before and After CGI.

Joe Russo Explains Why CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Is a Cap-Bucky Love Story

$

Captain America: Civil War has been described as being many things — an action movie, a political thriller, and a versus film. After all, we will see The Avengers turn on each other and fight. However, the movie is also a love story, but not that kind of love story. This is a love story that focuses on the relationship between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. These guys are best freakin' friends who have been torn apart by war. During an interview with Empire, director Joe Russo explained how their relationship makes this film a love story:

"What’s fascinating about the Cap-Bucky story as well is it’s a love story. These are two guys who grew up together, and so they have that same emotional connection to each other as brothers would, and even more so because Bucky was all Steve had growing up.
"Is he good or is he bad? Steve has to answer that question for himself, and there are other characters in the movie who hold the opposite point of view. It becomes a very explosive. It incites a lot of conflict."

Sebastian Stan added his two cents to the conversation likening the relationship of the two characters to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence dynamic in the Bad Boys movies:

"I think it’s easy and generalizing it to say that they’re lovers, when you’re forgetting that one has a lot of guilt because he swore to be the protector of the other, the father figure or older brother so to speak, and then left him behind. I have no qualms with it but I think people like to see it much more as a love story than it actually is. It’s brotherhood to me."

I think a lot of us have these brotherhood or sisterhood relationships with our friends, so it's easy to understand what Stan is saying here. Judging from what we've seen in the trailers, Cap believes Bucky still has some good in him and he's so loyal to him that he is willing to fight and risk his life to save him by taking on Tony Stark and his team. It's really tragic that it has come to this, but Cap always fights for what he believes is right.

Peter Serafinowicz Set to Play THE TICK in New Amazon Pilot

$

0

Last week we learned that Amazon had ordered a pilot episode for a new live-action series for The Tick. Deadline reports that the big blue superhero will be played by British actor-comedian Peter Serafinowicz. This is a completely unexpected choice, but I’m looking forward to see how he handles this insane character.

The series is a new take on Ben Edlund‘s hilarious classic comic book character and Serafinowicz will be joined by the previously announced cast of Griffin Newman (Vinyl) who will play Arthur Everest and Valorie Curry (House of Lies, The Following) who has been cast as his sister Dot Everest.

Edlund is writing the new series as well as executive producing it. He also worked on developing the 1994 animated series as well as the 2001 live-action series. According to the report:

The reboot is bringing back the eponymous muscle-bound, antennae-sporting superhero (Serafinowicz). In the new incarnation, the blue-suited Tick is recovering from a memory loss and ends up reteaming with his sidekick Arthur (Newman) to fight evil. The two are surrounded by a new host of characters that include Arthur’s sister Dot (Curry).

In original live-action Fox series, The Tick was played by Patrick Warburton, who obviously isn’t reprising his role, but he is an executive producer on the new series. So that's kinda cool. Transcendence director Wally Pfister is set to helm pilot.

New Deleted Scene Info and Images from STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Lucasfilm has released some new details and photos from a few deleted scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens that are definitely worth checking out. We know not everything that J.J. Abrams shot for the film ended up in the final cut of the movie, but we'll get to see some of that stuff in the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release. In a recent interview with EW Abrams said:

“There are so many things that end up getting cut because of the greater good, because of the rhythm of the sequence or the need to get on with it, a sense of redundancy. You don’t know any of these things when you’re making the movie, of course. It was sometimes after months of working on something that you realize finally — you just don’t need it.”

Below you'll find a collection of photos, each one comes along with a description of the deleted scene that was provided by EW. There are a few images that aren't new, but they are used to add a visual to the scene description:

New Deleted Scene Info and Images from STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
In one of the deleted scenes planned for early in the movie, John Boyega’s FN-2187 hasn’t yet fled from the First Order, but he’s already a lost person. This shot is from before the troopers round up the villagers but after his mask is marked with the blood of a fallen fellow soldier. The conscience-stricken Finn comes face-to-face with a woman in the shadows of a small building. He raises his weapon ... and makes a fateful decision.

When the First Order attacks the castle run by Lupita Nyong’o’s Maz Kanata, Han, Finn, and Chewie face down this squad of stormtroopers in her basement. Han does his usual stellar job talking his way out of trouble.

In this deleted scene, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) leads a squad of stormtroopers to the crash-site of the Millennium Falcon on the surface of Starkiller Base. Inspecting the abandoned starship stirs bittersweet memories for the Dark Side acolyte, who is still battling the pull to the light side ... and now knows his estranged father is conspiring against him.

Abrams says, “You never go into a day of shooting and say, 'This is probably going to be on the cutting room floor,' Every day feels as essential as anything else. It’s always annoying to realize that you wasted anyone’s time on shooting something that wasn’t necessary."

Another deleted sequence would have introduced Carrie Fisher's General Leia much earlier in the film as she weighs what to do after the First Order's massacre on Jakku. Emun Elliott, also gets a moment to shine as the Resistance communications officer Major Brance, who receives an early distress signal from BB-8 informing them of the attack.
The-force-awakens-deleted
Oscar Isaac also makes an appearance in a deleted sequence called "X-Wings Prepare for Lightspeed," which features his hotshot pilot Poe Dameron leading a squadron of Resistance fighters into an assault on Starkiller base. Most of the aerial battles in The Force Awakens took place within the atmosphere of planets, and this would have provided a moment when we get to see a large group of starships actually among the stars.
new-deleted-scene-info-and-images-from-star-wars-the-force-awakens8
Another deleted scene will take place after John Boyega's Finn is injured in this lightsaber duel against Kylo Ren. It features Daisy Ridley's Rey back at the Resistance base, watching over her critically wounded friend as she gets an update on his condition from Dr. Kalonia.

DC Entertainment Has Big Plans for BOOSTER GOLD and We'll See What They Are Soon

Over the years, we've heard that DC Entertainment has been developing something for Booster Gold. Back in 2011, we heard the character would be getting his own TV series on the SyFy Channel but that feel through. Then in 2015, we learned that Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow) would be directing a feature film in which Booster Gold would team up with Blue Beetle. We haven't heard anything since, and there's a lot that could have changed between then and now.

While talking to ComicBook.com, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns was recently asked about what big things they have on the horizon that they will be developing soon, and this is what he said:

“You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters. But yeah, Booster Gold fans, you will definitely be happy with what we’ve got coming up in the years ahead.”

There's no word on if this will be a movie or a TV series. either way, it will be interesting to see what they do with the character. If he is going to get his own movie, it will be interesting to see how he fits in with the DC Cinematic Universe that Zack Snyder is building. I personally think the character is more suited for TV, but we'll just have to wait and see how this all shakes out!

Nathan Fillion has previously said that he would want to play Booster Gold, which would be excellent. It would be cool to see Fillion in the role of Booster Gold.

In case you missed it, we also posted an article that offers five reasons why Booster Gold Is a Badass. If you haven't already, make sure to check it out! Would you rather see a Booster Gold movie or a TV series?

Here’s a Charming Anime Short about Working for McDonald's

McDonald’s has released this beautiful anime short created by Studio Colorido to convince young people that working at McDonald's isn’t that bad. Sure, working at McDonald’s is far from glamorous, but this paints it as a fun place to work that is a great place to get a start with working experience.

The anime short features voice acting from several members of AKB48, and it’s part of McDonald’s “Mirai no Watashi” a.k.a. “The Future Me” initiative, which is to hire more part-time workers. Which is weird because the last couple times I’ve been to McDonald's I’ve ordered my food from a kiosk and not a real person.

Regardless of how you feel about McDonald's, this anime is really charming and worth checking out. The question is... is it enough to make you want to work at McDonald's?

THE NICE GUYS Trailer: Crowe and Gosling Star in Shane Black's Noir Comedy

Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) is one of my favorite filmmakers, so I'm really excited to see his new movie The Nice Guys. It's about a private eye (Ryan Gosling) and an enforcer (Russell Crowe) who are looking for a missing girl in 1970s L.A., and months after dropping the first red-band trailer, Warner Bros. has released a green-band trailer as well.

Honestly, I think the red-band trailer is better, and probably a better representation of the type of movie this is really going to be, but this is a good alternative and will scratch the itch if you're looking for a few more quick flashes of new footage. (Fair warning: I loved the red-band trailer and knew I was all in for this film, and I regret watching the new trailer because I think it gave away something I would have liked to have seen in context.)

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

The Nice Guys hits theaters on May 20th.

Here's What Would Have Happened If BACK TO THE FUTURE Was Real

If the plot of Back To The Future happened in real life, the results would be catastrophic. That's what Will Fink thinks, anyway. If Marty met George, that would prevent George from having Marty, but then if Marty was never born, he couldn't prevent George from having Marty, which seems like a major paradox.

Super confusing, right? This is probably why we don't have time travel, and never will.

DEEPWATER HORIZON Trailer: Say Hi to Your Oil For Me

Here's the first trailer for Deepwater Horizon, the movie adaptation of the 2010 oil disaster that caused the largest spill in U.S. waters in history. Peter Berg reteams with his Lone Survivor star Mark Wahlberg (hence the headline) to bring this story to life, and Wahlberg — who also starred in The Basketball Diaries, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, Invincible, The Fighter, and Pain & Gain — really has a thing for acting in these based-on-a-true-story movies.

Unfortunately, this is a pretty terrible trailer with an on-the-nose juxtaposition about a Coke can and the oil rig that is one of those things that would have been too perfect had it happened in real life. If that's what they're using as the selling point of the trailer, I'm not sure that bodes very well for the final movie.

On April 20, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), this story honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.

The film co-stars Kurt Russell, Ethan Suplee, John Malkovich, Kate Hudson, Gina Rodriguez, and Dylan O'Brien, and it hits theaters on September 30.
