See What BATMAN V SUPERMAN Would Look Like If It Came Out in 1995

Occasionally in my nightmares, I hear a phrase I once heard in real life. The phrase has haunted me to this day, and I hope to never hear it outside of my dreams again:

"Bat Card. Never leave home without it."

Cornball jokes were just one of the curses of '90s cinema. We also had the awful quality of VHS, and Blockbuster stores where we had to drive and get a movie to watch as opposed to streaming. On the flip side we also had Don Lafontaine, and while his imitators are decent, none compare to the original.

This ScreenCrush tribute to Batman v Superman if it were made in the '90s embraces all of this, and I love it for it.

GAME OF THRONES Showrunners Say Season 6 is The Best Yet: "There is Not a Weak Episode"

A couple of months ago, I finally finished reading all of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire saga — all that's currently been released, that is — and it's pretty obvious in hindsight that the fifth season of Game of Thrones dropped the ball in a big way when it came to everything involving Dorne. The Sand Snakes were supposed to be fan-favorite characters, but the writing let them down...and that was far from the show's biggest sin last year (though the season did have some high moments). But in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Emmy-winning showrunner David Benioff talked about how the upcoming sixth season doesn't have any weak episodes at all, saying that it's their best one yet. When asked what was the most exciting aspect of the new season, Benioff said:

“The whole season. [Co-showrunner] Dan [Weiss] and I talk about this a lot. This is not us trying to hype it. Usually there’s an episode or two we’re kind of nervous about, that didn’t turn out as well as we hoped. This season there is not a weak episode. We had great directors who knew what they were doing, paired with excellent [directors of photography]. We thought at the script stage it might be our strongest season. Then the episodes came in better than we hoped. We’re always reluctant to say it’s ‘the best season yet’ because so much of that is in the eyes of the beholder. And Dan and I are so close to it that it’s impossible to be unbiased. But that’s my sense – watching them all together now, this is the best one we’ve done. It’s also the one I’m proudest of, because it was the hardest.”

Sounds like Emilia Clarke wasn't just full of hot air when she said season 6 will have "the biggest moments on television that have ever existed." What do you think — are you buying into the hype, or are you more cautious heading into the first full season where they've gone beyond Martin's books in a major way? Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24th.

Watch: Every Easter Egg, Cameo, and Reference in DAREDEVIL Season 2

I haven't had time to watch the entire second season of Daredevil yet, but I did get a chance to check out that pretty cool stairwell fight sequence in which the title hero absolutely wrecks a bunch of dudes on the way through an apartment building. Mr. Sunday Movies has seen all of the new season, though, and he's back with another one of his breakdown videos, pointing out all of the easter eggs, character cameos, and references that pop up throughout this latest batch of episodes. There are major spoilers in here, so beware — if you haven't finished season 2 yet, turn back now.

THE DO-OVER Teaser Trailer: Adam Sandler and David Spade Reunite in Netflix Movie

I haven't liked anything Adam Sandler has done in years, but he clearly has legions of fans that still love everything he does, because he's consistently one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood and his stuff — while often critically reviled — makes money. Since The Ridiculous Six was apparently a huge success for Netflix, I'm guessing they're pretty pleased with the multi-picture deal they made with him not too long ago, and now we have the teaser trailer for their second collaboration: The Do-Over.

Sandler reunites with longtime friend and former SNL co-star David Spade in this action comedy, which is described like this:

The life of a bank manager is turned upside down when a friend from his past manipulates him into faking his own death and taking off on an adventure.

The Do-Over will be available on Netflix starting on May 27th.

ComingSoon has the list of supporting cast: Paula Patton (Warcraft), Kathryn Hahn (The Visit), Luis Guzman (We’re the Millers), Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four), Sean Astin (50 First Dates), Catherine Bell (Bruce Almighty), Natasha Leggero (Neighbors), Nick Swardson (Just Go With It), Torsten Voges (Funny People), Renee Taylor (The Producers), and Matt Walsh (Ted).

Infographic: The Evolution of Wonder Woman's Costumes Over The Years

From all early accounts thus far, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman totally steals Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from the two title heroes. I'm seeing a press screening tomorrow and will have a review for you in the next couple of days, but before we get a chance to check out the first live-action film incarnation of the character, HalloweenCostumes.com has created a detailed infographic breaking down the evolution of her costume over the years. We actually featured a different infographic about the same subject last year, but this one is much better. I love the blending of the photo of Gadot with the classic Wonder Woman image.

First Look at BLOODLINE Season 2

The Netflix drama Bloodline is returning just in time for the Emmy’s eligibility deadline. Set to premiere on May 27, the series will have four days to impress critics before the Emmy awards calendar runs out of days.

Season 2 begins with the Rayburn family struggling to conceal their unthinkable crime. Mysterious strangers from Danny's past arrive with a dangerous agenda. Law enforcement is closing in on the truth behind Danny's murder. And the tight-knit family's once harmonious relationship is poisoned by paranoia and mistrust as it slowly begins to unravel. Lies mount. Alliances are betrayed. Relationships are destroyed. With their backs against the wall, good people may have to do some very bad things.

Bloodline returns with 10 new episodes, featuring Ben Mendelsohn, Kyle Chandler, Linda Cardellini, Sissy Spacek, and Norbert Leo Butz.  The second season includes some new members as well: John Leguizamo and Andrea Riseborough.

But the question here is (Attention! Spoilers): how can the series continue when one of the coolest and most good-looking characters is dead? Perhaps we are going to see some flashbacks and memories from the past.

Check out the new images from Bloodline Season 2 and see for yourself how tension keeps piling up.

Since we're now merely days away from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the internet is producing tons of content about the major players in that movie as we ramp up to Friday's release. I just wrote about a Wonder Woman infographic that tracks her costume evolution through the years, and now Burger Fiction is here with a video that walks through the history of how Batman has changed in film and television since one of the earliest film versions of the character popped up in a 1943 serial. I had no idea there were so many Batman animated movies in the 2000s!

Go Behind The Scenes of DAREDEVIL's Fight Scenes

I've written two articles about Daredevil today, but I still have not had time to watch the entire second season that is currently streaming on Netflix. One of those articles highlights what I assume to be one of the series' best fight scenes, one that's made to look like a single unbroken take as Daredevil brawls his way down the stairwell of an apartment building. Many people assume that's meant to top the long hallway scene from the first season, and thanks to Rolling Stone, we can now see some behind the scenes footage of the stunt team working on that sequence. The outlet spoke with fight/stunt coordinator Philip J. Silvera about the realism needed in fight scenes these days, how Daredevil's anticipation impacts the fights, and more. Check it out:

Batman Upstaged By Unicycling Superman Playing Flaming Bagpipes

The title pretty much says it all with this one. Batman attempts to gruffly sing his old '60s theme song while strumming along on a ukulele, but of course a kilted Superman has to cruise by at that exact moment, triumphantly playing his own theme with flaming bagpipes. Poor Batman...

X-Men Actor Lucas Till Is Set to Be the New MacGyver

Earlier this year it was announced that James Wan was producing a new MacGyver TV series for CBS. Well, the network has cast Lucas Till in the title role. Till plays Havoc in the X-Men films. The guy is a talented young actor, and I think he has the perfect MacGyver look. This is a perfect role for him to play, and it will be great to see how he makes the character his own. Joshua Boone (Fan Girl) was also cast in the role of Gunner, who is MacGyver’s best friend.

According to Deadline, the young Angus MacGyver (Till), “is recruited into the clandestine organization from the original series where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening. The drama serves as a prequel to the original series, in which MacGyver was played by Richard Dean Anderson.”

I enjoyed watching the original series when I was a kid and for some reason it’s really weird for me that it’s coming back. It’s just something I never expected to see revived as a series because it’s a one of a kind. MacGyver is coming, though, and I think Till is an awesome choice. It’ll be fun to see the process of how this character actually becomes the MacGyver we already know.

The pilot episode was co-written by Paul Downs Colaizzo and Brett Mahoney, and it will be directed by David Von Ancken. NCIS: Los Angeles' R. Scott Gemmill is an executive producer on the action drama along with Henry Winkler, who was an executive producer on the original run of the series.

What do you think about Till playing this character?

Harrison Ford Explains Why He Wanted Han Solo to Die for 30 Years

As you all know by now, Harrison Ford finally got his wish to have Han Solo killed off in a Star Wars movie. The actor has wanted to have his character killed off for the last 30 years, and in Star Wars: The Force Awakens it happened at the hands of his own son. Nooooooooooooo! During a recent Q&A with tumblr and EW.com, Ford explained why he wanted Solo to die, and it makes perfect sense:

"I think it's a fitting use of the character. I’ve been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he’s boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight."

He’s absolutely right. Only I wish it wouldn’t have happened so soon after having been re-introduced into to fans after all those years of not having him around. It was so great to see him, but then have him immediately taken away from us? Ouch. That hurt. It sure did pack a powerful punch, that’s for sure! So Ford did get that gravitas and emotional weight. It will be interesting to see how that all that emotional weight carriers over into the upcoming films.

Hey! At least, we’ll get to see Ford come back for at least one more Indiana Jones movie!

5 Photos Give Us Our First Look at THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

The first trailer for Warner Brothers' The LEGO Batman Movie will be released this Wednesday. While we wait to see that, USA Today has shared five photos from the movie that give us our first look at Will Arnett’s Caped Crusader in his very own movie.

As you already know, this is a spin-off of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s The LEGO Movie. During an interview with the paper, Arnett spoke about his character in the story, saying:

“The Batcave is even better than we remembered it, it’s awesome. But I also love getting into the ho-hum day-to-day of being Batman and what it’s like to fight crime each day. Like the idea of Batman oversleeping his alarm clock makes me laugh. It really does humanize him. We get down to that perfect sweet spot for Batman, but also having moments of hesitation,” says Arnett. “There’s nothing better than a guy who has this super-authoritative, brooding, voice but also moments where he’s a bit unsure.”

Arnett is joined by Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Michael Cera as Robin, and Rosario Dawson as Batgirl. Director Chris McKay spoke about coming up with his story for the film, saying:

“We thought if we can tell a well-rounded, funny story that’s action-packed, we can build a big movie around this character. This is the movie we would want to see. Batman is an island onto himself, the only thing he doesn’t have is relationships. We're making About a Boy as directed by (action director) Michael Mann”

He goes on to say that the movie is going to have a ton of cameos and other characters that will attempt to enter Batman’s life. The director is deep in production on the film in Australia and is shooting on a full 3D and LEGO world.

“At first it doesn’t look like it’s all built in Lego. But as you get closer you realize it is. We’re building an entire city, the Batcave and vehicles, going deep into Batman’s world.”

The movie is set to be released on February 10th, 2017. But stay tuned for the first trailer tomorrow!

Margot Robbie Set to Play Tonya Harding in I, TONYA

$

Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) has taken on the role of disgraced Olympic figure skater Tanya Harding in an upcoming movie called I, Tonya. This is definitely one of the strangest roles that Robbie has taken on yet.

You may or may not remember Harding, but she rose to the top of figure skating glory from a poor and rough childhood. She was the first woman to complete the triple axel in major competitions, and it led her to winning the 1991 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and coming in second in the World Championships.

In 1994, she was set to compete in the Olympic Games in Lillehammer against Nancy Kerrigan. That's when her life took a weird turn. Hardy's husband and a couple of other thugs were hired to attack Kerrigan and break her leg. Luckily for her, they sucked at their job and only bruised her leg, then they got caught, and Hardy's husband turned against her to try and stay out of jail.

That year, Kerrigan won the Silver Medal and Harding finished eighth as her life was taking a dive into the abyss. As information on the scandal unfolded, Harding was stripped of her 1994 championship, and the USFSA banned her from figure skating for life.

Deadline says that the movie "has the potential to be another To Die For, the Gus Van Sant-directed film that starred Nicole Kidman in a tale of naked ambition and the price for fame."

The script was written by Steven Rogers, who apparently did "extensive interviews with both Harding and Gillooly, capturing the absurdity of what happened but also the tragic part of the Harding saga, and trying to come from nothing to prominence in a sport where most of the competitors are the children of wealthy families that can afford all the ice time and trainers needed to get to that high a level."

Robbie has proven to be a great actress, and it will be interesting to see how she embodies this character and portrays her in the film. I'm sure this movie will be a lot better than the 1994 TV movie, Tonya & Nancy: The Inside Story.

Zack Snyder on Why He Never Considered Grant Gustin’s THE FLASH For JUSTICE LEAGUE

When Ezra Miller was cast in the role of Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, in Zack Snyder’s Justice League film, a lot of fans were pissed off that Grant Gustin didn’t get the job. As many of you already know, Gustin plays the Scarlet Speedster in the series The Flash, and he’s awesome.

During an interview with the New York Daily News, Snyder revealed that he never even considered using Gustin as The Flash. Why? One reason is that the tone of his TV version didn't match up with what he wanted to do with Justice League. So he hired Miller, who is a great actor, and I’m sure once people see how he handles the character, fans will be a little bit more at ease. Snyder said:

"I just don't think [Gustin] was a good fit. I’m very strict with this universe and I just don’t see a version where...that [tone is] not our world.”

The Flash is expected to make a brief cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but we really won’t get to see him in action until Justice League. There's another interesting reason Snyder offers for leaving Gustin out of the role, and that's because of DC's multiverse.

“Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he’s very good, we made a commitment to the multiverse [idea], so it’s just not a thing that’s possible.”

So apparently these films that Snyder is making take place in the same multiverse as the TV series, but they don’t take place in the same universe. This is something Geoff Johns has talked about in the past, telling BuzzFeed in a previous interview:

“Well, Arrow and Flash are the same universe, and we get a lot of great story out of that — especially when we have episodes that cross them over, but that’s also where our superhero universe lives. We look at it as the multiverse. We have our TV universe and our film universe, but they all co-exist. For us, creatively, it’s about allowing everyone to make the best possible product, to tell the best story, to do the best world. Everyone has a vision and you really want to let the visions shine through. I think the characters are iconic enough.“

This completely makes sense to me, especially when it comes to the DC Comic Universe. It gives them the perfect excuse for anything they do with these properties.

THE MONSTER SQUAD Gets an Incredible SUICIDE SQUAD Mashup Trailer

The Monster Squad was one of my favorite films to watch when I was growing up. Seeing Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, and The Creature team up to plunge the world into darkness was the stuff dreams were made of! Then there was the ragtag group of young teens who have a club called The Monster Squad and set out on a mission to stop them. This is one of those films that really tickles the nostalgia feels for me.

Well, YouTube user thatmattcaronguy has created a new fan trailer for The Monster Squad, and he does it in the same style as the last Suicide Squad trailer that was released. The result of the mashup is perfect in every way, and it's the greatest thing EVER! Suicide Squad does have some similarities as it brings together many of our favorite DC villains/monsters for a crazy adventure, only it's not to bring about the end of the world.

The trailer is called Suicide Monster Squad, and I just had a smile on my face all the way through it. I love this trailer!
