Beat Down Boogie has released their latest cosplay music video featuring some incredible cosplay at MAGFest 2016. MAGFest is a music and gaming festival that features a huge arcade, competitive gaming, music concerts, a game-focused film festival, and of course cosplayers paying tribute to their favorite characters. I’ve never been to this festival, but it looks like it would be a ton of fun.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Says Another TERMINATOR Sequel Will Happen

It looks like the Terminator will be back. During an interview with Channel Nine's Weekend Today over the weekend, Arnold Schwarzenegger says that there will be another Terminator movie. When asked about it the actor said:

“I am looking forward to it, absolutely.”

There are no details on when this will happen. The last we heard, the sequels for Terminator: Genisys had been moved off Paramount Picture’s release schedule leading us to believe they may have been cancelled. That must not be the case because Schwarzenegger is obviously under the impression that he will make another one. So that’s a good sign... if you liked Terminator: Genisys.

I enjoyed the last film for the most part, but it didn’t do as well at the box office as the studio would have hoped. A lot of the fans didn't seem too happy with it either. There was definitely room for improvement, but I’m up for another Terminator movie, so if it is getting made, I’ll watch it.

Miles Teller Hadn’t Seen the STAR WARS Trilogy Until His Han Solo Audition

Miles Teller is one of many young actors up for the role of Han Solo in the A Star Wars Story movie being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. During a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor confirmed that he had actually auditioned for the role and in the process revealed that he had never seen the original Star Wars trilogy until a couple months before the audition.

“I had never even seen any of the original Star Wars movies until maybe a month or a couple weeks before my first audition because I was like, ‘I should check this out’ [Laughs]. It holds up. I just love Harrison Ford. I think that’s a great character. I love his brand, I mean so many guys would’ve played that part so wrong and he has humor at the right times. Harrison Ford is a very big actor, when you see the facial expressions and the things he does he goes big, but he’s just always the coolest guy in the room and he’s got all of those great qualities.”

I honestly don’t know how anyone could go that long in their lives and not see those Star Wars movies, especially someone who is in the entertainment industry. But I guess it happens. The last report on who might be Playing Solo indicates that he’s not up for the role anymore. As of right now it seems that Jack Reynor (Macbeth), Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) are currently the top choices. Teller also talked about Fantastic Four, which as you know, completely bombed in every way. He said:

“I think it was Clooney who said you can make a bad movie out of a good script, you can’t make a good movie out of a bad script, and that’s very true. If they’re telling you maybe your part’s not as big and they say, ‘Oh you’re gonna be bigger in the sequel’ or ‘Oh we’re gonna rewrite’ and ‘Yeah we’re gonna take in all these notes,’ if you’re in a position where you can say hold off I’m not signing off on this dotted line until this script is exactly where you want it, then you’re in a very fortunate position. Because I know actors that have been in literally Oscar-winning performances that told me that script was a struggle every day to get it to a place that [they] wanted it, and [they] were always fighting for the best version of it.”

Instead of condemning Fantastic Four, the actor went on to praise all the hard work that was put into it:

“People think that when you make something like a Fantastic Four that doesn’t do well, people think ‘Oh you phoned it in’ and it couldn’t be more untrue. You work harder on the bad films, or the films that turn out maybe not the way you intended, because something’s not working. And I thought it was kind of unjustly critiqued that way; there are even bigger bombs if you’re looking at how much money went into the production and what they reaped back. But I think it’s unfortunate a movie like that becomes a scarlet letter on a resume when so many talented people worked really hard and maybe a handful of people took it in a negative direction. But so many people worked really hard on that that are so talented.”

Still, even though people work their ass off on a movie doesn’t mean it’s a good movie and that people are going to like it. It’s really a shame that Fantastic Four turned out the way it did. That movie could have been great. The Han Solo standalone film is slated to open on May 25th, 2018.

Zack Snyder Looking to Open 300-Style Films to All Historical Events

I’ve enjoyed the 300 film that have been made. They are incredibly badass, and I absolutely love the visual style of them. I don’t know if we’ll see any more 300 films set in ancient Greece, but even if we don’t, we might see a series of 300-style films that tell the stories of other historical events. At least, that’s what director Zack Snyder is thinking about doing. During an interview with Collider, the filmmaker said:

"We’ve been talking a lot about sort of different incarnations of 300. We’ve been talking about is there a way, possibly, we move out of Ancient Greece and use it as a framing device for other conflicts that happened throughout history. I think I mentioned that we talked about the Revolutionary War version, and we talked about the Alamo, and we’ve talked about there’s a battle in China, a 'Lost Legion' kind of concept, any of those kinds of things are on the table."

I would absolutely love to see Snyder and Warner Bros. do this! You can read about the George Washington project Snyder wants to work on here. Beyond that, though, it would be so cool to see other awesome historical events brought to life in this hyper-visual style. Of course, Snyder could always just make these movies in his own style without the 300 connection, and they would probably still be just as entertaining.

HARRY POTTER Trailer Recut in the Style of THE FORCE AWAKENS

We’ve seen a lot of fan-made trailers for movies that have been recut in the style of the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This latest one comes from Jonny Halloway ,and he has mashed together the music and style of the Force Awakens trailer with footage from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The result is pretty cool.

Michael Jackson’s Chimp Bubbles Is Getting His Own Stop-Motion Movie

Community creator Dan Harmon is set to produce a stop-motion animated film called Bubbles. The movie centers around Michael Jackson’s famous chimp, and it will offer a look into Jackson’s life from Bubbles' point of view, Here’s the description of the story from THR:

"A baby chimp is adopted by pop star Michael Jackson. Narrating his own story, Bubbles the Chimp details his life within The King of Pop’s inner circle through the scandals that later rocked Jackson’s life and eventually led to Bubbles’ release."

This sounds like it will be a fascinating movie. The screenplay was written by Isaac Adamson and was on the 2015 Black List of best unproduced screenplays. The stop-motion in the film is said to be in the same vein as Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa. They used 3D printed puppets to bring the characters to life and give the character a unique life-like appearance.

Bubbles was adopted by Jackson in 1983 from a research facility in Austin, Texas. He went to live with the pop star at Neverland Ranch and accompanied him to places including on tour at times. Apparently, Bubbles even sat in on the recording of the Jackson’s album Bad. The chimp eventually became too aggressive and was moved to monkey sanctuary in Florida where he still resides.

I'm curious to see how this movie and its story turns out.

Two Iconic Villains That Almost Made It into BATMAN V SUPERMAN

While making Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I’m sure there was a lot of discussion about what and who they wanted to have in the movie. A lot of that stuff never made it into the final cut. For example, in a recent interview with Collider, Zack Snyder revealed that The Joker and The Riddler almost made it into the film. This is what he said about that:

"The Joker and The Riddler both came close to being in this movie. We talked about the possibility of putting them in. [Screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I talked about it a lot and felt that their mythological presence is felt in the movie and that’s cool, but I didn’t want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict."

There were rumors that Joker would appear in the film, but this confirms that those rumors didn’t pan out. The Crown Prince of Crime is going to make his debut in Suicide Squad, but does this mean there’s a chance The Riddler will show up sometime in the future? If they wanted to include him in Batman v Superman, it seems to me that they might have plans for him somewhere down the road.

As for their "mythological presence" being felt in the film, we've already had a little taste of Joker in the trailers. We'll just have to wait and see how The Riddler fits into it. The last time we saw Riddler on the big screen was 21 years ago when Jim Carrey played him in Batman Forever. I was never a fan of what he did with the character, and it would be great to see a new incarnation of the villain, especially in this new DC Extended Universe.

I always imagined the character being kinda like Kevin Spacey’s John Doe from David Fincher’s Se7en — an insanely dark and twisted serial killer who gets a kick out of teasing and taunting people with his riddles.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Trailer Awesomely Recreated in FALLOUT 4

The latest full trailer for Captain America: Civil War that debuted Spider-Man has been awesomely recreated in Fallout 4 using mods. The video comes from YouTube user UpIsNotJump, and it's pretty damn enjoyable. It has a fun, crazy style to it, and this is what the creator had to say about the process of creating it:

In this Fallout 4 Video Game machinima parody the Captain America: Civil War trailer 2 was recreated completely in Fallout 4 with mods. This video is similar to work by TGN and Merfish, who remade the first Captain America: Civil War Official trailer in GTA V.

Is Spiderman in Captain America? YES. Who is Playing the new Spiderman? Tom Holland! Now that Spiderman is in Captain America he finally makes his Marvel appearance. In this Fallout 4 trailer remake of the Avengers Universe he is also Modded into the game to complete the ending to the trailer. There are no web mods so Spidey couldn’t shoot Captain America, so I left it out.
The Fallout 4 engine was modded to remake all of the Characters from the movie. Mainly Black Widow (Natasha Romanova), Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Captain America (Steve Rodgers.)

GTA V movies where trailers are remade, like the Captain America: Civil War Official Trailer in GTA V are very popular so I decided to remake the Trailer in Fallout 4 to see if it was possible. There are so many mods on Nexus Mods it turns out that you can recreate almost any character and scene from the Captain America: Civil War Official Trailer 2, even introduce Spiderman.

Now, enjoy the fruits of his labor!

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII - Spoiler Details Involving Poe Dameron and General Organa

$

Some new potential SPOILER details have leaked regarding a few characters in Star Wars: Episode VIII. The following intel comes from Latino Review, and it includes information regarding Laura Dern’s character as well as Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron and Carrie Fisher's General Organa.

According to the report, Dern is rumored to be playing a Resistance Officer in command of a ship. The site describes a scene in which she informs a group of battered soldiers, including Poe, that they are the “last of the rebellion,” and she also informs them that General Organa has been "gravely injured" in some kind of attack and is undergoing medical attention.

The relationship between Dern and Poe isn't a good one. It's explained that they "have an antagonistic exchange of words and Dern’s character is blunt with Poe, like she has some sort of authority over him." The intensity escalates from there as it's revealed that Poe leads a group of Resistance fighters against Dern’s character. They take control of her ship and Poe ends up pointing his blaster at Dern's character.

It sounds to me like the story in Episode VIII is going to take more of a political turn. Like there is a new villainous faction growing within the Resistance that Dern is a part of, and that maybe Leia being gravely wounded was an inside job to put an end to what she was trying to accomplish. The report speculates that Dern's character wants the kind of power that Leia wields, but Poe isn't going to let that happen.

This is all just rumor and speculation, but it sounds like something I could see happening in the Star Wars Universe. If all of this is true, I like where it's going. I can't wait to see how this story plays out!

The film is being directed by Rian Johnson and is set to be released on December 15th, 2017. Do you have any speculation that you'd like to add to the conversation?

The CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY Musical Is Headed to Broadway!

Here’s another excuse for me to take a trip to New York in the near future. A Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical is headed to Broadway! The musical has already had success in London with director Sam Mendes (Skyfall, Specter), but now Americans will have the opportunity to get their Golden Ticket to see it.

The play is being produced by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures and will start in the spring of 2017. It is based on Roald Dahl’s best-selling novel and also draws inspiration from the classic 1977 movie. This version of the show will not be directed by Mendes, instead, it will be directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien (Hairspray, Henry IV). Mendes said in a statement to EW:

“I loved directing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I’m really proud it’s having such great run at Drury Lane. But I knew I couldn’t marry the time commitment to make a Broadway production with the development of my next projects. As such I am thrilled to be turning the keys to the Broadway Chocolate Factory over to the brilliant Jack O’Brien.”

O’Brien offered his thoughts on taking on the development of the show and what he plans on doing with it:

“Why does Wonka want to do this Golden Ticket contest and what compels him to want to give it all away? I started with the question why. This is the dramatic premise I hang the whole show on. Sam and I have both spent our careers putting our personal spin on classics, be it by William Shakespeare or Roald Dahl. Since the first production was created for London, it’s only fair we do an American version, and in America, our connection is to the 1971 movie and the indelible impression of Gene Wilder as the slyly wicked Wonka. The score will pay homage to the beloved Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley songs that are integral to the American relationship to the story, combined with all new songs crafted by the American team that created one of Broadway’s most beloved scores, Hairspray.”

I’m such a huge fan of of this story, and there’s no doubt it will make for an entertaining, high-energy musical.

Big news in the world of animation! A.V. Club says Toonz, the same software that was used to create Futurama and many of Studio Ghibli's films, is going open source beginning March 26th! This means you can download it for free (right here), and Toonz will then offer paid courses on how to utilize its features, as well as offer a premium version of the software.

I'll admit I know very little about animation or how huge this is, but if it means I can see more Studio Ghibli-style fan parody videos on Youtube, I can only assume it's good news!

Kevin Spacey Shows Up at "Spacey in Space Night" at NHL Game

Kevin Spacey appeared at the Florida Panthers "Spacey In Space Night," and if you don't follow hockey, you have no idea how big of a deal that is. For those unaware, the NHL Florida Panthers have this locker room joke going around where they award a prize to the most deserving player after each game. For most teams this is a trophy, gift card, or title belt.

For the Florida Panthers this is a sweatshirt with Spacey's head floating in space.

No one on the team has revealed what it means or why it's a thing, but fans of the team have embraced it as more of a mascot than their beloved Panther! So now that you know all that, you'll understand why the crowd absolutely erupted when Spacey was revealed amongst the crowd wearing the actual sweatshirt!

I never knew hockey had such a learning curve!

Daisy Ridley Confirms She's Up For Lara Croft Role in TOMB RAIDER Reboot

$

Earlier this month, it was reported that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley was up for the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. A lot of people seem to love the idea of seeing her in the role, and I think she'd be great! Turns out that report is true. Ridley confirmed the news herself when THR asked her about it at the Empire Awards.

She says that there "have been conversations" about her playing Lara Croft, but as of right now she says, "I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it'". Well, it seems like the fans want her. If Warner Bros. and MGM are paying attention, maybe they better give her a call. The actress did say that she is actively trying to fill up her schedule with gigs. It's just such a great casting choice and it would be a shame if they missed this opportunity.

She says there's no script for the film yet but Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is currently in the process of developing it. Ridley's Star Wars co-star John Boyega chimed in to say that he also wants her in the role as well:

“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version. But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be."

Ridley was so good in The Force Awakens and she won over the hearts of fanboys and fangirls everywhere. The more I think about her taking on the role of Lara Croft, the more I think she would be perfect in it. It's good to know that there's a chance she could get the part. We'll just have to wait this one out until we get an official announcement of who's been cast.

Watch: DAREDEVIL Pulverizes Bad Guys in Season 2's Stairwell Fight Scene

Some of you have almost certainly already burned through the entire second season of Marvel's Daredevil since it was released on Netflix this past Friday, so you've seen this scene in context. But for those who haven't had the opportunity to binge the whole show yet and are looking for a quick burst of the down and dirty action the series provides, or maybe if you're on the fence about giving the show a shot, check out this stairwell fight scene. (Spoilers ahead.)

In it, The Punisher has duct-taped a gun to Daredevil's hand, and after knocking The Punisher out so he doesn't kill any more people, The Man Without Fear has to fight his way through an apartment building full of bad guys. This is the show's attempt to outdo the famous hallway fight from the first season, and you can be the judge of whether or not they succeeded:

Pretty remarkable stuff, through there are a bunch of places where you can tell that some hidden cuts were made. When it comes to stairway fight scenes, it truly doesn't get any better than the long, unbroken take of Tony Jaa kicking ass in The Protector.

Justin Lin Reportedly Spending Up To 16 Hours A Day Editing STAR TREK BEYOND

Regardless of what opinion you form when Star Trek Beyond hits theaters, just keep in mind director Justin Lin busted his ass to get it to you! Logan Hill joined The Sitting Around Talking About Movies Podcast and said the director is spending up to 16 hours a day in post production to make sure he gets everything he needs! From the podcast:

"He'd be editing [that day's] sequences every night to make sure he got what he needed… He would stay up all night editing because if you don't get [any needed] stuff the next day - with a cast like that that's so big and has so many missing parts - you miss it."

Apparently this is normal for Lin, who has a reputation in Hollywood for a quick turnaround on his films. Hill also said he got a glimpse at some of the finished scenes and effects and said they looked "spectacular!" Spectacular was not a word I would've initially thought applied for Star Trek Beyond, but despite its recent reshoots, hopefully this means I'll be surprised when I see it in theaters! If nothing else, I won't be questioning Lin's dedication to the project!

Everything You've Read About STEP BROTHERS 2 Filming is a Dirty Lie

So you may have seen the news trending on Reddit this morning from various sources that Step Brothers 2 is set to film in fall of this year. I originally wrote this article talking about that EXACT news, but was stopped just in the nick of time by Mily and Ben. Turns out it's all lies...ALL OF IT!

ScreenCrush is reporting that REAL insiders close to the film say there are absolutely no plans to film Step Brothers 2 this year.

I knew the source (something called missopen.com) was sketchy....I just wanted it to be true soooo bad. Director Adam McKay said earlier this year that they had no plans to film a sequel this year. So just wait a little longer, and maybe it'll actually happen one day!

By the way, do we even really want a sequel to Step Brothers?!

28 Times TV Shows Paid Homage To Classic Movies

$
0

There was a time when film was considered the end-all be-all form of entertainment, but television's recent Golden Age (along with studio reliance on massive franchises and the all-but-vanished mid-budge movie) has turned the tables to the point where long-form, serialized TV is on a level playing field (or perhaps have surpassed movies altogether, depending on who you talk to). Now the two mediums are constantly influencing each other, and Vox has put together a cool video that shows 28 times TV shows paid homage to movies by recreating famous shots or situations and repurposing them for their own story purposes.

Two quick things before I wrap this up: First, Pinky and The Brain was an utterly brilliant show. I often forget about it, but every time I watch a clip, I'm reminded of how great it was. And second, if you haven't seen Carol Reed's The Third Man yet, make it a priority — that movie is fantastic.

Jeremy Renner Says He's Interested in a Hawkeye Netflix Series

$

Until Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed that there was another layer to his character that we hadn't seen before, Hawkeye was one of the weakest links in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was barely in Thor, and spent the majority of the first Avengers as a brain-washed baddie. Jeremy Renner is set to reprise the role once again in this year's Captain America: Civil War, but if he had his way, he'd be able to dive deeper into Clint Barton's story on the small screen in a Netflix series. A fan at Silicon Valley Comic Con (via ComicBook.com) asked Renner if he'd be interested in appearing in a solo show similar to Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and here's what he said:

"I think that's actually a really great model, if there's ever a way to explore the character, maybe it's in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I'd be open to it. I've really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you're doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I'd be open to it. Not up to me, though."

Since Marvel Studios doesn't seem interested in a Black Widow solo film, maybe they'd be more apt to move Natasha and Clint over to the small screen in a spy show instead that could investigate more of their relationship? But considering the internal rift in the company that happened last year (wherein Kevin Feige took control of the film division from Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter, which left Perlmutter running the TV division separately), it might be a complicated transition for characters who are already well-established as movie characters first and foremost. Still, as the Spider-Man deal with Sony proved, just about anything is possible when it comes to Marvel Studios these days, so we'll have to see if a Hawkeye show is something the company is interested in or whether they have bigger plans for Barton on the big screen.

Would you watch a solo Hawkeye show? Maybe it could be a musical
