Keanu Reeves Offers Update on BILL & TED 3 - "We’re Closer and We’re Not Closer"

$

There's been talk of a Bill & Ted 3 movie being in development since 2010, and after all that time it doesn't seem like it's any closer to going into production. Over the years, both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have offered updates on the film. Sometimes it seems like things are progressing, while at other times there seems to be no movement at all.

IGN Had the opportunity to talk to Reeves recently and they pointed out that in 2014 the actor told them, “We’re closer, but we’re not closer.” Then in 2015 they asked him about the film again and he said, "We're closer, we're closer." Now he has reverted back to his first statement, "We’re closer and we’re not closer."

When I read that I just can't help but hear Reeves saying it as his character Ted "Theodore" Logan, and it makes me laugh. He went on to say that they are "expecting another draft and hopefully we’ll get closer.”

Regardless of the lack of movement, the actor is still very enthusiastic about the project. They are just taking their time with “the actualization of that concept.”

“We’re just trying to get the script together. We’re trying to get the story right. We’re working with this studio so we have a little bit of support, in a sense of like if the material comes through we’ll try and make this picture. We’re really just still trying to get the story right."

Hey, at least they are still trying, and they are trying to give fans the best sequel possible. That's got to count for something. Reeves previously talked about the story for the film a few years back saying:

"It's kind of like… I call it 'gravity,' you have to get this mass together to make it happen. In terms of the writers' voices being too peculiar, in this case no. I think they've really crafted something that's funny. [Bill and Ted have] been weighed down by the burden of having to save the world by the song, and they just can't write it. They're losing their wives and their children, they're losing their families.
"Yeah, they're just like, 'Dude, we have to write the song!' The future comes back and says if you don't write the song by this certain time the universe is going to unravel and history and everything is going to change and dinosaurs are gonna walk the Earth. Jesus is playing baseball! All sorts of weird things start unraveling and wormholes are twisting. We have to kind of bring order back, and it's connected into bringing our families together by writing a song."

He also offered a description of a scene in the movie:

"It's edgy. There's a great scene where Bill and Ted are in jail and we're seeing our future us's and they're all tatted and hard. They're like, [tough sounding] 'What's up, dude? Hey dude. Hey guy.' 'Stop calling me dude!' They want to beat up Bill and Ted because they've inherited the life that they f**ked up. They're miserable and they hate Bill and Ted. There's some funny stuff!"

I have no idea if this is still the direction they are taking the story, but it sounds like a hilariously fun concept for a sequel. This sequel needs to be made, and I hope they finally get around to making this thing because I want to see it!

The Punisher Spotlighted in DAREDEVIL Season 2 Featurette with Intense New Footage

Marvel has released a new featurette for Daredevil today that focuses on Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher. The video is loaded with new footage from the series and features Jon Bernthal talking about his character and being involved with this world. It also goes into some detail about the kind of relationship that The Punisher has with Daredevil and teases so much badassery!

Bernthal also released a brief behind-the-scenes video clip earlier this week of him as The Punisher blasting off a couple rounds on the set of Daredevil. As you will see, he is sporting his signature skull-logo outfit. We have no idea who he is taking shots at, but whoever it is is in for a world of hurt.

Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios. Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.

The series also stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Élodie Yung, and Rosario Dawson. Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 starts streaming on Netlix on March 18th, 2016.

One batch. Two batch. Penny and dime.

Magic, Adventure-Filled New Trailer for NOW YOU SEE ME 2

magically-adventurous-new-trailer-for-now-you-see-me-2

The Four Horsemen find themselves in a crazy new magical adventure in this new trailer for Now You See me 2. The magic in this is even more ridiculous than what we saw in the first film, and I love it! In this trailer, we see the Four Horsemen jump off a rooftop in New York in some kind of slide and land in China.

Daniel Radcliffe summons the magic team to steal the key to every computer system on the planet. It seems like this is all part of Morgan Freeman's plan to lure them into a trap to get his revenge, and Mark Ruffalo is trying to help them get out of this situation. The fact that this franchise is so over the top is what makes it so damn entertaining for me. Of course, you can expect a big outlandish twist at the end.

THE FOUR HORSEMEN [Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan] return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than WALTER MABRY [Daniel Radcliffe], a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

The movie was directed by Jon Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), and it's set to be released on June 10th.

As we sit here with our excitement welling up for Captain America: Civil War, the Russo Bros. have released a behind-the-scenes video giving us a little update on the film's post-production process.

They are currently in the middle of sound-mixing, and they revealed that they are about a week and a half away from delivering the final cut of the film. While they are talking about what they are doing, there is never-before-scene footage from the film in the background that features a meeting with the Avengers team with General Ross. In that meeting we see Vision all dressed up in a suit and tie.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th. In the meantime, enjoy the brief video below!

HOLIDAYS Horror Anthology Film Gets a Trailer and Release Date

There’s a fun looking horror anthology film coming out soon called Holidays. The movie is described as a “uniquely dark” film that puts an “original spin on some of the most iconic and beloved holidays of all time. The film challenges our folklore, traditions and assumptions, making HOLIDAYS a celebration of the horror on those same special days’ year after year.”

There’s a lot of great talent that came together to create this movie. The directors involved with the project are Kevin Smith (Tusk), Gary Shore (Dracula Untold), Scott Stewart (Dark Skies), Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes), Sarah Adina Smith (The Midnight Swim), Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact), Adam Egypt Mortimer (Some Kind of Hate), and Anthony Scott Burns (Darknet).

There are also a few actors that you might recognize, like Seth Green (Robot Chicken). The movie is being distributed by Vertical Entertainment, and co-president Rich Goldberg said in a statement:

“We have an extremely tight window to get the film out to audiences in April, but we have a dedicated team here at Vertical as well as with our partners XYZ and Distant Corners, what I believe will be the first film available globally immediately after its festival premiere.”

Holidays will have its world premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival on April 14th. It will be released a day later on April 15th on digital and VOD platforms, and then it will get a theatrical run starting on April 22nd. I’m excited to see this!

Trailer: The BEN-HUR Remake Looks About How You'd Expect

When the first-look photos for the Ben-Hur remake came out yesterday, I talked about wanting to give this movie the benefit of the doubt. And while I'm aware that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover (or, in this case, a movie on its trailer), this first trailer isn't making it easy. It's not that it looks godawful, it just looks — like so many other remakes — unnecessary and boring. The chariot race in the 1959 film is one of the most legendary scenes ever put to film, and the idea that Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov would be the one to improve on it just doesn't seem like a great fit for me.

It also feels a lot like Exodus: Gods and Kings, another Biblical-era story that came out recently that plays on a lot of these same tropes. Check out the trailer below and make up your own minds, but at this point, I'm not interested in seeing this movie.

Ben-Hur arrives in theaters on August 12.

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army.  Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery.  After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.  Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.  Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters next week after being announced three years ago, but fans have been waiting far longer than that to see The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel share the big screen together in live action. We're in the home stretch, and YouTuber Miguel Branco cut together this cinematic retrospective of DC Comics' modern era superhero films to get you even more excited.

Justice League is going to be the big culmination of everything the studio has worked toward, but BVS is jam-packed with things (like the live-action film debut of Wonder Woman, for example) that are going to point us in that direction. Let us know what you think about this video in the comments below:

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE Trailer: A Little Hart and A Big Johnson

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart co-star in Central Intelligence, a new action comedy from the director of Dodgeball and We're The Millers that comes out this summer. New Line and Universal have just released a new trailer, and it's a big improvement over the first trailer that came out a few months ago. Whatever the hell sort of effect they used to make Johnson look like a fat high school kid looks terrible to me, but the rest of the movie looks like a typical mismatched buddy cop comedy that might provide a few laughs and a handful of memorable action scenes. Johnson is great, and if Hart isn't too shrill, it could be fun to see them play off of each other.

The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent (Johnson), coming home for his high school reunion. Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former “big man on campus” (Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days. But before the staid numbers-cruncher realizes what he’s getting into, it’s too late to get out, as his increasingly unpredictable new friend drags him through a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and espionage that could get them both killed in more ways than he can count.

“Central Intelligence” also stars Oscar nominee Amy Ryan (“Gone Baby Gone”), Aaron Paul (TV’s “Breaking Bad”), and Danielle Nicolet (TV’s “The Game”).

Mondo is Releasing New STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES Posters — See The First One Here

Mondo is teaming with ACME Archives to bring fans brand new officially licensed artwork based on the classic Star Wars and Indiana Jones film franchises. Mondo has worked on Star Wars in the past (producing Olly Moss's now-iconic triptych), but this will be the first time they'll take a crack at work inspired by Indy.

The first piece of this partnership is the 12x16 giclee print you see above, entitled Red Five, that features Luke Skywalker suited up in his X-wing flight gear. That's the first of an upcoming series of Star Wars profiles from artist Mike Mitchell.

Normally, Mondo posters sell out within minutes of going on sale, so it really helps to be on top of things and paying attention to the company's Twitter feed if you want to jump on it. But thankfully, Red Five is going on sale tomorrow and will be available for anyone to purchase for 72 hours. Follow @MondoTees on Twitter for more info.

"Despite being a pop culture powerhouse, Star Wars never ceases to inspire me due to its breadth of wonderfully original and creative characters. I'm excited to have the opportunity to show you my favorites. I think if you're a fan of Star Wars, you're going to enjoy what's in store," said artist Mike Mitchell.

I can't wait to see what kind of amazing Indiana Jones art the company produces. We'll be sure to show you the coolest ones as soon as they pop up.

Funny and Heartbreaking Film THE LOBSTER Gets a New Trailer and Release Date

I saw The Lobster at last year's AFI Film Festival, and in my review, I talked about how it contained a bizarre mixture of sadness and hilarity. You can get a decent sense of that tone in the film's new trailer, which was just released by the fantastic distribution company A24. A company called Alchemy was originally going to release the movie on March 11, but A24 swooped in, bought the rights, and they'll now put it in theaters on May 13, which is sure to be a nice counter-programming option for folks who may be looking to avoid superheroes or massive explosions at the box office.

The premise is one of the wackiest I've heard in a long time: Colin Farrell plays a single man sent to a hotel, where he must find a mate within 45 days or else he's turned into an animal of his choice. That's just about all you need to know — you're either intrigued enough to see the movie based on that alone, or that information is enough to tell you that it's not going to be your kind of film.

I'm glad A24 is giving this a worthwhile release so those who are interested won't have to do too much work to seek it out. Watch the new trailer below.

Aunt May Actress Sally Field Trashes THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

While The Amazing Spider-Man movies have their supporters, they're now largely seen as an example of studio superhero filmmaking gone wrong. Marc Webb seems like a nice guy who had great intentions, and stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's chemistry worked really well, but ultimately, the reboot was a misguided mistake. And now fanboys aren't the only ones who think that: one of the actresses who appeared in the film, Sally Field, trashed the film on a recent episode of The Howard Stern Show:

"It’s really hard to find a three-dimensional character in it. You work it as much as you can, but you can't put ten pounds of shit in a five-pound bag."

Harsh? Maybe a little. But it's true, too, and as Field says in her interview, she essentially just took the role of Aunt May to be a part of producer Laura Ziskin's last movie because the two of them were friends. I wonder what she would have thought about appearing in that Aunt May solo film...

SUPERGIRL and THE FLASH Crossover Footage Teased in First Promo Spot

Fans of Supergirl and The Flash have been excitedly looking forward to the crossover episode set to premiere later this month. The episode is called "World's Finest," and today we have the first promo spot to share with you that offers us our first look teasing footage from it.

“Kara gains a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash (Grant Gustin) suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, aka Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home.”

Do you think they'll race like Superman raced The Flash in the comics? That would be kinda fun to see, but even if they don't, I'm sure the episode will deliver something great for the fans.

I imagine this is the first of a few team-ups we'll eventually see in the DC TV universe. I bet the next time we see these two heroes team up, it will be in an episode of The Flash. The crossover episode airs on CBS on Monday, March 28 at 8pm.

Go Behind The Scenes of PREACHER in New Featurette

Preacher, AMC's upcoming adaptation of the controversial 1990s comic, screened its pilot episode at the SXSW Film Festival this past weekend to rave reviews. I'm so glad that people I trust and who have similar tastes to mine are digging this show, because I've spent years hoping to see an awesome version of this property come to either the big or small screen.

AMC has released a brief behind-the-scenes video featurette that includes interviews with producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and showrunner Sam Catlin from the set, and though it doesn't offer much in the way of real substance, it actually did get me a little bit more excited to see the pilot, so I suppose it's doing its job.

Preacher will debut on AMC on May 22 at 10pm.

DAREDEVIL Star Charlie Cox Talks About How Matt Murdock Will Relate To THE DEFENDERS

$

We're only two days away from the second season of Marvel's Daredevil blasting onto Netflix, and while there's been a lot written about The Punisher and Elektra, it's important not to forget about Matt Murdock in all of the excitement about the new additions to the cast.

Actor Charlie Cox, who portrays the title character, spoke with Entertainment Weekly about how this second season of the show prepares Daredevil for the upcoming team-up series The Defenders.

Something that’s very tricky for Matt is to allow anyone to help him. He finds it impossible to ask for help, for a number of reasons. One, because he doesn’t want to endanger people that he loves, but also because he has an arrogance, he has a self-confidence and a belief, and I think at times a belief in his own invincibility. Which is false, that he can do it all by himself, and it’s very stubborn at times, very deluded at times.
One of the lessons that he’s going to have to learn this season is that he needs other people, he needs help, we all need help. And hopefully, that will therefore mentally prepare him for what’s coming, which is - and I don’t know what the dynamic of the Defenders will be - but if that is going to be a team-up, then he’s going to have to learn those lessons in Season 2. Hopefully.

We're still not clear about when exactly we'll see The Defenders unite on the small screen, or whether or not they'll ultimately appear in either part of Avengers: Infinity War, but things are moving along with Luke Cage getting a release date and Iron Fist finding a (somewhat controversial) leading man. It remains to be seen whether we'll get more seasons of these individual shows before The Defenders comes into being, but we'll be sure to keep you updated with the latest whenever we hear new info.

WATCH: Honest Trailer For THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY — PART 2

Last year, we saw the end of The Hunger Games franchise. Unfortunately, for some people it didn’t really bring a satisfying conclusion. But I have to admit the finale left me with huge expectations — not for another movie, but for something else. Ever since the opening, I’ve been so looking forward to watching Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2, and finally I had my 5 minutes of genuine laughs delivered like hot pizza in a box!

Screen Junkies have neither mercy nor pity for the second part of this finale. Staring “Katniss Everdone With These Movies," "A Waste of a Perfectly Good Tucci," and many more, the Honest Trailer once again stripped off every single delusion about the movie, leaving it with nothing else but its true boring nature and storyline. Enjoy!

The CW's THE FLASH Cast Talks About Who Should Win in BATMAN V SUPERMAN

$

While Marvel Studios and Marvel TV have created movies and shows that occupy the same cinematic universe, which allows characters to freely jump back and forth between the two mediums, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have used a different tactic enacting their grand plan. Unless one of their films introduces the concept of parallel universes, it seems unlikely that actors from shows like Arrow and The Flash will pop up in the live action features, especially since the studio has already cast Ezra Miller as Barry Allen for a planned solo film and left actor Grant Gustin hanging on the small screen.

But it looks like A) either the cast of The Flash doesn't have any hard feelings about getting shafted, or B) they're contractually obligated to talk about other DC-related projects, because The CW has released a video of a few members of the cast talking about who they think will win in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That film arrives in theaters next Friday, and both Arrow and The Flash return to TV next week. Check out the video, along with a couple of quick promos for the new TV episodes below.
