Funny Comedy Sketch For Fake NES Party Game - SUPER RUSSIAN ROULETTE

$

Update: This is actually a real video game project that is raising funds on Kickstarter. If you want to donate and actually play this game click here for more information! If you donate you can actually get your face put in the game as a spectator or a villain.

This amusing comedy sketch is for a fake Nintendo party game called Super Russian Roulette. It features the classic NES console, graphics, and the classic Zapper gun. Super Russian Roulette lets you and up to two other players experience the risk-free thrills of Russian Roulette against annoying 8-bit cowboy that taunts you.

Pull up a chair and rustle up some virtual nihilism, pardner. Super Russian Roulette pits you and up to two friends or strangers against a trash-talking cowboy, impatient to get on with the ultimate game of chance. There’s a light bullet in the Zapper’s chamber: is your name on it? (To increase actual dread, add penalty shots of bottom-shelf hooch for the losers.) Keep spinning the barrel till only one player remains.

This is such a ridiculous concept for a game that I couldn't help but laugh at this commercial for it. Enjoy!

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 Clip Shows the Party Wagon in Action, Plus Our First Look at Shredder

Cowabunga dudes! In case you missed it during the Kid's Choice Awards, the first clip from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows has been released online. This is an action-packed clip that features the Ninja Turtles in hot pursuit driving the Party Wagon. The clip shows off some of the van's crazy weaponry, which includes nunchuck wielding robot arms. The van looks like it was built to be in a Mad Max movie, but I don't think it would survive that world.

I also included an image giving us our first look at the new Shredder character design. The image was posted by actor Brian Tee, who plays the villain. As you can see, this version of Shedder is closer to the source material than the laughable version in the previous movie.

Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, and Noel Fisher will reprise their roles as Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo. Johnny Knoxville is providing the voice of Leonardo again. The movie also sees the return of Megan Fox as April O'Neil, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick, and William Fichtner as Eric Sacks. Some of the newcomers include Tyler Perry as scientist Baxter Stockman, WWE Star Sheamus as Rocksteady, Gary Anthony Williams as Bebop, Brittany Ishibashi as Karai, Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, and Brian Tee as Shredder.

The movie is being directed by Earth to Echo‘s David Green, and it will be released on June 3rd, 2016.

Spoilery Interview with 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE Director About Easter Eggs, How It Connects to The Original, and More

Hopefully by now you've had a chance to see 10 Cloverfield Lane, the excellent directorial debut from filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg. I spoke with the director last week about the timeline of when The Cellar/Valencia became a Cloverfield movie, and he gave me a surprising answer. (Check out part one of that interview here.) In this second part of the interview, I spoke with Trachtenberg about the connection this movie has (or doesn't have) to the original Cloverfield film, Easter eggs that fans should keep an eye out for on second viewing, what the original ending looked like when he first came on board this project, a possible sequel, Y: The Last Man, and more.

There are very light spoilers ahead, but before we got started, in typical Bad Robot fashion, Dan warned me that he couldn't get into too much detail about the absolutely insane ending of the movie:

Just FYI, anything that’s specifically about the third act stuff, I can’t really speak to in print. That stuff can be taken from the article, and anyone can snag that from you and take it out of context and not label it a spoiler, so some of these things I still might not really be able to talk about.

That’s totally fine. I don’t really plan on diving too deep into it. When does this take place in the timeline compared to the ’08 movie?

It’s not on the same timeline. They’re separate freestanding stories.

Interesting! That’s cool. So I noticed the Slusho sign, the Kelvin gas station, and a letter with Bold Futura [a company from the viral campaign] on it —

Nice dude! Wow. You’re the first person to mention that to me. That’s awesome.

I was just wondering if you can tell me about all of the Easter eggs fans should be looking for when they go back to see this a second time.

I think, personally, I wouldn’t want to rob anyone of that experience. I’m impressed that you nailed that, and those are all right on. I’m trying to think about any more there might be. Bold Futura, I mean, that shot is just frames long, so that is so badass, dude. But there might be a few more than those, but those are definitely the biggies, for sure.

How much influence did you have over the script? I know you said [Whiplash writer] Damien Chazelle helped develop it and there are a handful of writers on this, but I didn’t know if you had tinkered with it.

I spent about a year working on the script after I came on. All of it was really there, it was a really intense screenplay and had all of the twists and turns. The big thing for me was really shoring up the main character’s story. I really wanted to make sure that none of her stuff felt expositional, that she was still a character that was told largely through action, but when we had those moments of insight that they really be heartfelt and hit us in our core. And the other big thing was bringing some levity to it. I really thought that if we had some laughs with these characters, we bonded to them in a really much more powerful way, and when insane stuff starts happening, it would matter so much more. So really making it a little bit more funny, which came through in the script as we developed it further, and continued into working with the actors and improv’ing and all of that stuff. Specifically with Howard [John Goodman’s character], I really wanted him to not only be menacing and sometimes erratic, but still convincing. That speech that he gives about building your ark after the flood has already come, that came from the development process and really wanting him to shake our perspective of what safety really is.

Goodman is so good in this movie. It’s the most nuanced work I’ve seen him do in a long, long time.

Oh man, thank you for saying that. I agree, dude. I think he’s so badass in it.

I love that you were looking at it from a character perspective with both Mary and John’s characters, because one of the first things I thought of when I walked out of this movie was, “Wow, these characters have honest-to-God complete arcs.” Which is something you just don’t really see that much these days anymore. It feels like a lot of times, that’s the least important thing in movies like this, genre exercises, and I was just like, “Thank God that you guys put the time in.” Mary’s character says at one point that every time stuff gets difficult, she turns and runs. And what happens to her at the very end, that decision that she makes…

Yeah, man!

It’s just such a full-circle kind of thing that fits perfectly.

Awesome. So glad to hear you say that!

So, would you be interested in doing a sequel? Have you talked to Bad Robot about maybe continuing the story in another movie?

I would love to. It always felt like this really cool origin story that was forged in the flames of one genre and then evolves throughout. I think that would be awesome, but I also think it could be equally badass to say, “No, this is it. What you just saw and being left with the final decision is what you know of that character” and throw the gauntlet down on it being its own standalone thing. That could also be cool. So I’d be stoked, honestly, either way. I can’t say that I wouldn’t be out of my mind excited to dig back and thrust Michelle into even more insanity and see how she makes it out.

What was the original ending when you first came on board?

The same. Very similar. The beats inside it — literally the geography and choreography of the set piece — were slightly different, but in large part, the concept of it was identical.

I know you directed some shorts and commercials previously, but what was the biggest thing you learned about leading a production of this scale?

Really being able to trust the collaboration and listen to all of the experts that I’ve hired in their specific jobs. If you are telling everyone what to do, then what they do will only be as good as what you can come up with. But if you listen to them, and embrace them, and engage them to take ownership about the specific thing that they’re doing, then what they’re doing — and the movie — has a chance of being even better than what you could come up with on your own. That’s something that can only come from hiring an awesome crew. That definitely was what we were able to do. I had a frickin’ awesome cinematographer, an incredible editor, composer, and production designer; working with all of them was one of my greatest joys when I look back. When I think about the movie, I don’t think about the actual movie, I think about the people I made it with and it was so much fun.

What’s next for you? I know you were working on a movie called Crime of The Century with [Fast & Furious writer/producer] Chris Morgan.

Still, yeah. I would love to finally make that. We’ve been developing that for a while, even before this movie, and I really do hope I get to make that. It would be awesome if that could be the next thing. It’s super awesome, super original, lots of fun, and I would be chomping at the bit to get a chance to make it. And then I’m reading stuff, so we’ll see. I’ve been so focused on finishing this movie and now releasing it that I haven’t really had that much of a chance to engage with new things.

What happened with Y: The Last Man? What’s the status on that? [For those who don't know, Trachtenberg was attached to direct a film adaptation of the comic at one point.]

That is done as a movie. That went away shortly after I started developing this. Not because I was developing this, but because as we were working on the script, the rights expired and Brian [K. Vaughn, co-creator of the comic] I think is now actually trying to make it happen as a TV show. I, like everyone else, of course thought how could it would be as a TV series when I first heard it was coming out, so now that is finally going to happen. I was definitely excited to make the movie out of it, because I think even that — there’s so much great TV, it would have been cool to have a property like that that operates in that way that’s so character-based and fun and exciting, that would have been so cool to bring to the big screen. The small screen has so much of it these days! But truly, I think it fits the small screen so well and will be such a cool show if they can make it happen.

10 Cloverfield Lane is in theaters now.

Paramount Claims Crowdfunded STAR TREK Film Violates Copyright Because They Speak Klingon

If you're a Star Trek fan, you've likely heard of the ongoing battle between CBS/Paramount and the crowdfunded Star Trek fan film Axanar. If you haven't, CBS is suing the filmmakers, who asked for donations to help complete their film, which was a prequel to the original Star Trek series. Their first complaint to the courts was dismissed due to the non-specific nature of "copyright infringement." Now THR reports that CBS is back with a specific list of things the fan film infringed upon, including "pointy ears," yellow shirts, and the Klingon language!

Sure, Klingon was a language created by the Star Trek franchise...but is that something you can copyright?! You can't copyright the English language, so how is this any different?

We'll see how it plays out in court, but unfortunately we may have to watch this guy's home tour in a non-intergalactic translation.

Watch Every BATMAN V SUPERMAN Trailer Recut in Chronological Order

As someone who's watched and posted a lot of these types of trailers, I know these can typically be shaky in quality. That said, I think this is the best "recut in chronological order" trailer I've seen in a very long time. It contains 11 minutes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice footage, and it gives so much! I felt like I better experienced the vibe this film is going for, got a much better feel for Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne (which I like), and even came to appreciate Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Really excited for this one.

Great work by M1llion!

Warner Bros. released the very first trailer for what looks to be a funny new animated feature called Storks, and the studio decided to unleash a 60-second teaser right from the Kids' Choice Awards. The sneak peek shows where babies come from and hints at the mess that arises when an unauthorized baby is about to be delivered.

The upcoming animated comedy is directed by Nicholas Stoller and Doug Sweetland, and includes the voices of Andy Samberg, Kelsey GrammerKatie Crown, Danny Trejo, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jordan Peele.

"Storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for global internet giant Cornerstore.com. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world."

Storks is set to debut on September 23, 2016.

Ian McShane Gives Away Another GAME OF THRONES Spoiler, Disses Obsessive Fans

Considering how much effort HBO has put into keeping the events of the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones a secret, I was shocked that they released a (spectacular) full trailer last week. But I wonder if the network is regretting hiring actor Ian McShane in a small role, because he's obviously making no effort to hide spoilers or his feelings about the show and its obsessive fans.

Spoilers ahead.

A week ago, McShane made headlines talking about how his character was going to "bring back a much-loved character who everybody thinks is dead." And while Jon Snow definitely fits that description, it seems much more likely that McShane is playing Septon Meribald, and that character he's talking about "resurrecting" is actually The Hound, who we technically never saw die on screen. You can read much more about that here. Now McShane is running his mouth again, this time in an interview with The Telegraph:

"You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape. I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a fucking life. It’s only tits and dragons."

It's been a long time since I've heard an actor be so reductive of a project in which they appear. While there are probably a group of people that only watch the show for the "tits and dragons," there really haven't been enough of either to justify sitting through five full seasons just for the occasional glimpse or set piece. I think it's safe to say most fans like the show for many more than simply those reasons. He went on:

"They asked me if I wanted to do Game of Thrones and I said, ‘Sure, I’ll be able to see my old pals Charlie Dance and Stephen Dillane’ and they said, ‘No, we’ve killed them off.’ I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode, so I said, ‘So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.’ ”

Those who have been paying super-close attention (which are probably all the people McShane is telling to get a life) already knew that the actor was only going to appear in one episode, but it remains to be seen whether or not his character will really die at the end. In the books, Meribald continues through the Riverlands after his encounter with Brienne, but since the show is clearly forging its own path now that they've largely caught up to many storylines of George R.R. Martin's novels, I expect anything is possible from here on out.

THE WALKING DEAD is Getting a Year-Round Attraction at Universal Studios

Universal Studios has announced that a new attraction based on AMC's mega-hit zombie series The Walking Dead will be coming to the Hollywood park in the summer of 2016, and will stay open for the foreseeable future. Previously, the only Walking Dead-related attraction theme park fans could take part in was the walk-through maze that appeared as a part of the park's Halloween Horror Nights event.

As described in press notes, the Walking Dead attraction is significantly more intense than its Halloween iteration; the stomach-churning walk-through experience will boast “authentic walker make-up effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series."

Greg Nicotero, the legendary make-up and effects creator who serves as an executive producer and director on the show, is teaming with the park to make sure everything feels like fans are walking through an episode of the series.

amc-reveals-preacher-teaser-poster-new-photos-and-premiere-date

AMC has released a new teaser poster for their upcoming Preacher TV series and announced that the show will premiere on Sunday, May 22nd at 10pm. It will follow the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead. After the pilot episode premieres, the new episodes will air every Sunday starting on June 5th at 9pm. I've also included three new photos from the series below that feature a few of the main characters.

Preacher is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

The series is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s popular 1990s comic book franchise and it was developed by executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) is also an executive producer on the series and will serves as showrunner. Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC, had this to say in a statement:

“We’re thrilled to finally be sharing this epic story with characters unlike any other on television. Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have brought Garth’s writing and Steve’s artistry to life in the most gratifying way possible. Fans of the comic book and fans of just great television have a lot to look forward to as they’ll travel on an unforgettable journey and watch in unison as the craziness unfolds.”

The series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, W. Earl Brown as Sheriff Root, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck, and Ian Colletti as Eugene/Arseface.

This series looks like it's going to be awesome. In case you want to watch the trailer again for a reminder of how good it looks, click here.

Watch: Red-Band Trailer For Richard Linklater's EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!!

Richard Linklater is following up Boyhood with Everybody Wants Some!! (those exclamation points are apparently part of the official title), the spiritual sequel to his classic film Dazed and Confused. The movie played at SXSW this past weekend and received pretty solid reviews (from the brief glimpses at headlines that I saw, anyway — I don't like reading reviews before I see a movie myself), and IGN has just debuted a new red-band trailer for the '80s-set college comedy.

This looks like a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see it when it hits theaters on April 1.

A “spiritual sequel” to ‘Dazed and Confused’ set in the world of 1980 college life, Richard Linklater’s ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’ is a comedy that follows a group of friends as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood. Get ready for the best weekend ever.

Kevin Smith Provides a Nuanced Response to The New GHOSTBUSTERS Trailer

Paul Feig's new Ghostbusters movie has been a topic of heated debate since it was announced that the main cast members would all be female. Thanks to a torrent of misogynist fanboys who spoke out against the movie for crapping on their childhoods, the film has somehow become a beacon for progressive and feminist ideologies, and since the internet is a place that instantly becomes polarized into camps on either extreme, it's basically come down to this mentality: if you don't like the movie, you're a woman-hating scumbag.

I've read enough comments on this site to know that we do have a handful of guys who are honest-to-God misogynists that troll around here, but the majority of you are capable of making a more nuanced judgment, and here's where filmmaker Kevin Smith comes in as the surprising voice of reason. What if you don't like the trailer, not because the movie stars women, but because it just wasn't really that funny? On a recent episode of Hollywood Babble On podcast, he and co-host Ralph Garman broke it down:

I haven't agreed with Smith about anything for a while, but I'm right there with him on this one: I really like all the people involved with the film, and I'll just hold out hope that the final movie turns out to be much better than that trailer indicated. What do you all think?

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII Set Photos Feature New Aliens, Vehicles, and More

A collection of new photos from the set of Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII have surfaced online through various Twitter feeds. These images give us our first good look at some new alien creatures, vehicles, set pieces, some security type personnel, and a couple of interestingly-dressed gentlemen hanging around a Landspeeder-type vehicle. It's like the BMW of Landspeeders.

The spy photos you see here were taken in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where the film is currently shooting. The style of the stuff I'm seeing here kind of has the same vibe of what we saw in the prequel films. Everything is a bit more polished.

We have no idea who these aliens are, where they are, or how they fit into the story, but everyone seems to be dressed up nice!

That's Not How The Force Works: Darth Vader Toothpick Dispenser

You'd think I would have learned by now, but I'm continually surprised at the level of nerdy ridiculousness Star Wars fans will go to in order to have every single aspect of their lives intersect with George Lucas's space saga in some way or another. I've seen themed toilet covers, spatulas, and dozens of other pieces of merchandise, but here's a new one: a Darth Vader toothpick dispenser from Bandai. Now someone just needs to come up with a Star Wars-themed toothpick to make sure that diehard fans don't need to touch a single piece of non-SW-related content in order to clean their teeth. I also really like that photo of the wine glass and cheese plate with this thing displayed proudly next to it, as if that's ever a scenario that's going to appear in real life.

If you're one of the few people that would actually buy one of these, they're supposed to be available for purchase starting in June for ¥ 2,980, which, if Google isn't lying to me, comes out to a staggering $458 in cold hard cash. I hope it's worth it!

I didn't love Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, but the Hulk vs. Hulkbuster sequence definitely lived up to the hype.
