Some photos from the set of Rian Johnson's Star Wars: Episode VIII have surfaced online thanks to Star Wars Direct. They offer us a look at the beautiful set for the film in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and one of them includes a tease of a slick-looking Landspeeder vehicle. The set looks pretty awesome, and we also have a couple of videos for you to watch below as well showing some work being done on it.

If you're excited for Episode VIII, it's cool to get a behind-the-scenes look at the work going on to help bring it to life. In the process, you get a glimpse at another Star Wars universe location being created. I'm insanely excited to actually start seeing some official stuff from the next chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to be released on December 15th, 2017, so unfortunately, we've got a long way to go.

Fans of BowserVids know him pretty well, but a vast majority of the public remembers him best as Diablo III guy...

Now he's back in "The Cosplay Handler" which is about the most hilarious thing I've seen parodying geek culture in awhile! Sadly, I'm sure there's a market for these kind of guys. Do you have what it takes to be a "Cosplay Handler"?

Trailer for Wes Craven's Final Film Credit THE GIRL IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS

I saw this cool trailer for a film today I've heard literally nothing about (which is rare). The Girl In The Photographs has a cool trailer, Kal Penn in a lead role, and is Wes Craven's final film credit in the industry as executive producer. You would think with the way Hollywood operates that would immediately propel it into the public eye!

The trailer itself reminds me of old school horror...in a good way! I like Penn being creepy, as weird as that is to say! See the trailer below and check out The Girl In The Photographs in theaters and VOD April 1st!

Deadpool wasn't just loaded with great comedy, it was also overflowing with some insanely fun action. If you're a fan of the movie, you've got to watch this behind-the-scenes video from Rolling Stone. It features Deadpool stunt and fight coordinator Philip J. Silvera talking about — and showing us — how he designed the film's crazy awesome fight sequences.

When creating these fight scenes, Silvera drew from his experiences with boxing, karate, kung-fu, wushu, and fencing. We also get a glimpse of how the final fight in the film came together. Check it out!

DC Comics’ SCALPED Will Be Adapted into a TV Series

WGN America is looking to develop a new series based on a DC Comics property called Scalped. They’ve ordered a pilot episode and have brought Geoff Johns along for the ride as executive producer.

Scalped was created by Jason Aaron and illustrator R.M. Guera and is described as “a modern-day crime story set in the world of a Native American Indian reservation. It explores power, loyalty and spirituality in a community led by the ambitious chief Lincoln Red Crow, as he reckons with Dashiell Bad Horse who has returned home after years away from the reservation.”

The comic was published by Vertigo in 2007 and was partly inspired by the 1975 arrest of Native American activist Leonard Peltier. For those of you not familiar with the story of Peltier, he was arrested for the slaying of two FBI agents in a shootout on an Indian reservation.

Doug Jung (Banshee) has been hired to write the script for the pilot, and he is also an executive producer. According to insiders, WGN America is eyeing an all Native American cast, which would be pretty damn awesome.

DC Entertainment is on a roll with developing solid TV series, and Scalped will join the party which already consists of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Gotham, and the upcoming NBC comedy series Powerless, starring Vanessa Hudgens. I think Scapled has the potential to be one of their best.

SECRETS OF THE FORCE AWAKENS: A CINEMATIC JOURNEY Documentary Will Premiere at SXSW

Good news for Star Wars fans who are going to be attending this year's South By Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas: a feature-length documentary about the making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens will premiere at the festival on March 14th. This is the same documentary that will be a part of the bonus features of the upcoming Blu-ray and Digital HD combo pack, which you can read all about right here. So really, this just offers fans a chance to experience the behind-the-scenes making of the film on the big screen before everyone else has a chance to watch it at home when the Blu-ray hits on April 5.

The press release has a few more details about the specifics of when, where, and who will be there:

The documentary will be shown at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Austin on Monday, March 14, at 12:00 p.m. Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ BAFTA Award–winning and Academy Award®–nominated visual effects supervisor Roger Guyett, Academy Award®–nominated supervising sound editor Matthew Wood and co-producer Michelle Rejwan will be on hand for a Q&A following the screening.

I can't remember another time when a bonus feature was featured as a hyped-up screening at a film festival, but since Star Wars fever is back in full swing, I guess it makes sense that Disney and Lucasfilm would be the first to make that happen.

10 Cloverfield Lane comes out this week, and I'll have a review for you as soon as the embargo lifts later tonight. I'm also going to be talking with director Dan Trachtenberg about the making of the movie, so look for that interview sometime this week. In the meantime, though, check out one of the film's trailers (actually, it's a TV spot) recreated using LEGO pieces. Not bad, J.E.T. Productions!

captain-america-civil-war-team-iron-man-character-posters-and-run-time-revealed

Marvel has released a set of new character posters for Captain America: Civil War featuring Team Iron Man. This is in addition to the Team Captain America posters that we posted yesterday. The new posters include Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), and Vision (Paul Bettany). Still no Spider-Man.

It has also been revealed that the runtime of the film will be 146 minutes (2 hours and 26 minutes), and it will be the longest Marvel movie that has been made so far. Not by much, though, as the first Avengers movie was 143 minutes long. In case you're wondering what the longest superhero movie that has been made is, that honor goes to The Dark Knight Rises with a runtime of 164 minutes.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in twocamps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts.

Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6th, 2016.

Awesome GAME OF THRONES Snow Art Proves Winter Has Already Come

The Stark family from Game of Thrones always claim that "winter is coming," but if this snow art from artist Simon Beck is any indication, it's already arrived.

Sky Atlantic hired him to create this awesome Stark family sigil in the snow of the French Alps in order to promote next month's return of the fantasy series, and the craziest thing about this is the physical way it was made: by walking. Beck walked 64,800 steps over 13 hours through the snow to carve this image into the mountainside. Pretty rad, huh?

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24.

The Four Horsemen Unite on New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Poster

I really liked X-Men: Days of Future Past, but I have to be honest: I think X-Men: Apocalypse looks pretty bad. I'm still holding out a little bit of hope that it's better than the trailers make it out to be, and there are certain elements that I hope will work well (Olivia Munn's Psylocke, the new Jean and Scott, etc). But I have no clue what Oscar Isaac is doing here, and to me, this looks like one of those movies that could easily teeter into being unintentionally hilarious. We'll find out in a few months, but in the meantime, check out a new poster (via Yahoo) that features Apocalypse (Isaac) and his Four Horsemen: Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Psylocke (Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Angel (Ben Hardy).

X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27. Are you excited to see it? Check out the Super Bowl commercial here to jog your memory.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE Posters Hint at Massive Alien Revenge

$

The aliens are back and they're better prepared this time around. At least that’s what the two new posters for Independence Day: Resurgence hint at. The warning tagline, which goes like “We had twenty years to prepare…So did they," is pretty straightforward.

The international posters released by 20th Century Fox feature a massive alien ship, which threateningly hovers above our planet.

"We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction."

Resurgence stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward. The movie hits theaters on June 24, 2016. Are you ready for it?

THE TRUST Trailer: Elijah Wood and Nic Cage Know The Drill

Here's the first trailer for The Trust, which stars the strange pairing of Elijah Wood and Nicolas Cage as two crooked cops who try to rob a hidden safe in Las Vegas. As you can probably guess, things don't go as planned.

Cage's laugh after the line "you know the drill" cracked me up. Though it looks a little low budget for both of its stars, this could actually turn out to be pretty fun. Wood looks like an excellent foil as the straight man to Cage's wackier character.

After premiering at this month's SXSW film festival, The Trust will be available on DirecTV starting April 14, and then it will hit theaters and VOD on May 13.

School's Out in COMMUNITY Season 6 Gag Reel

I've written a lot about Dan Harmon's brilliantly meta sitcom Community on this site. I truly loved the show during its peak, but even I — a die-hard fan — wasn't thrilled about the show's sixth season, which made almost no cultural impact when it moved over to the already-defunct Yahoo Screen. Since the cast members have all grown exponentially more popular since the start of the show, they've all moved on to other things and the future of the franchise is in jeopardy. Will Harmon complete the mantra of "six seasons and a movie" and write a script for a feature? No one knows yet, but even if he does, it will be difficult to convince a studio to fund it, and it might be difficult to get some of the cast to carve out time from their busy schedules to show up.

So it's very possible that this clip from the Season 6 gag reel could be the last we see of our friends from Greendale Community College. The full reel can be seen on the DVD or digital release (available now), along with some other bonus features like deleted scenes and a behind-the-scenes look at the finale. Thanks to EW for the video below:

Must Watch: Jaw-Dropping GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Trailer

HBO has been incredibly secretive about the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones, going as far as to show us practically zero new footage in any marketing materials thus far. But all that changed with this brand new trailer, which pulls back the curtain in a huge way and allows us a massive look into what's in store when the show returns in April. There's so much to dissect and unpack here, and a ton of it is stuff that even book readers don't know about because in many areas, the show has passed George R.R. Martin's novels in the timeline.

This whole thing is just about perfect, including the slowed-down cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game."

Game of Thrones returns on April 24. Check out what the network is calling a red-band trailer below:

GHOSTBUSTERS Animated Film Scares Up a Director

$

Sony is going all-in on the Ghostbusters franchise, working with Ivan Reitman's newly-formed Ghost Corps company to create a cinematic universe that encompasses Paul Feig's upcoming reboot, a possible Channing Tatum film with Chris Pratt co-starring, and a bunch of other projects, too. One of those is an animated Ghostbusters movie, and now that film has found its director.

THR reports that a guy named Fletcher Moules will direct, and though that name won't sound familiar, you've probably seen his most well-known work: he's the one who animated and directed the popular Clash of Clans commercials, one of which has been viewed over 90 million times on YouTube (watch it below). Reitman will produce, but there's no word on whether the movie will be reminiscent of the animated series The Real Ghostbusters, which ran from '86 to '91, or if it will include any of the characters from the films. Fans would probably be happy with voice cameos for guys like Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray, but we'll have to wait and see if that offer is on the table.

The new live-action Ghostbusters movie has seen its fair share of controversy over its casting, but what do you all think about a new animated movie?

J.J. Abrams Explains Why Rey and Leia Hug in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

$

0

After fans' tears of joy began to dry during their first viewing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, some people began looking at the movie through a more analytical lens and pointing out some of its flaws or sequences that just didn’t really make sense. One of the loudest complaints I heard from fans was about the interaction between Leia and Rey at the end of the movie, and in a new interview with /Film, director J.J. Abrams addressed that head on and admitted that the moment was “probably one of the mistakes I made.”

Spoilers for The Force Awakens ahead.

After Han Solo's death, Chewie, Rey, and an injured Finn return to the Resistance and General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) passes right by Chewbacca — Solo's long-time friend and partner — and goes straight to Rey (Daisy Ridley) to give her a hug, even though they'd never met before. Here's what Abrams said when he was asked why this happened:

That was probably one of the mistakes I made in that. My thinking at the time was that Chewbacca, despite the pain he was feeling, was focused on trying to save Finn and getting him taken care of. So I tried to have Chewbacca go off with him and focus on Rey, and then have Rey find Leia and Leia find Rey. The idea being that both of them being strong with the Force and never having met, would know about each other — that Leia would have been told about her beyond what we saw onscreen and Rey of course would have learned about Leia. And that reunion would be a meeting and a reunion all in one, and a sort of commiseration of their mutual loss.

He went elaborated about the blocking being a factor. "Had Chewbacca not been where he was, you probably wouldn’t have thought of it," he said. "But because he was right there, passed by Leia, it felt almost like a slight, which was definitely not the intention."

So there you have it. Though it may or may not be a satisfying explanation for you, the question has been answered. Maybe Rian Johnson will do something to deepen (or build) the Chewie/Leia relationship in next year's Episode VIII.

Chewbacca Confirmed For Han Solo's Origin Story Film

$

It was pretty much assumed that Chewbacca would have a part to play in the Han Solo film currently being developed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. But it was confirmed by Disney CEO Bob Iger while he was speaking at Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference recently.

He also confirmed that the film would tell Han's origin story. Iger said, “We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewie, and that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there’ll possibly be more thereafter."

It really wouldn't be a Han Solo film without Chewbacca by his side, so it's good to know that is definitely the plan. Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew recently teased a special announcement that he hasn't made yet, but leading up the announcement, he's been posting pages of his original Star Wars script. I imagine that announcement will be that he's returning for the Han Solo movie that fan are all excited about.

Before we get to that Han Solo movie, though, we have Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out on December 18 of this year. Iger spoke about that one, too, saying, "It takes place right before what was George Lucas‘s first film, which came out in 1977 and is now called ‘A New Hope'”. Then we have Star Wars: Episode VIII coming December 15, 2017. The Han Solo film will follow that with a release in May of 2018.

Iger went on to tell investors, media analysts, and reporters that these the Star Wars Stories, like Rogue One and Han Solo, will be marketed “differently, but aggressively” in an effort to "not divert fans from the ongoing saga, but still certainly draw their money."

After the release of The Force Awakens, I couldn't be more excited to see what Lucasfilm gives us next!
