ATTACK ON TITAN Cosplay Features Child Titans

Last weekend I attended Long Beach Comic Expo, which is always fun to take the kids to. One of my daughters left with her very first samurai sword, which she was ecstatic about. I haven’t seen her that excited about something in a long time. She even named it Shelby.

Anyway, there was a good amount of cosplay at the event, but my favorite was when I came across these two little kids all decked out as Titans from hit anime Attack on Titan. The coolest thing is that they completely stayed in character the whole time.

Their names are Chihiro and Chieko, and they’ve gone around cosplaying a few different characters. I’ve included a few more photos of them below from their Instagram account.

Marvel's MOST WANTED TV Series Gets an Official Synopsis

Last year it was announced that Marvel would be developing a new series called Most Wanted. It's an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series that focuses on Adrianne Palicki's character, Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird, and Nick Blood's Lance Hunter. Thanks to Deadline, we have an official synopsis for the series that offers us plenty of details on what the show will entail:

[Marvel's Most Wanted] centers on Bobbi Morse (a.k.a. Mockingbird) and Lance Hunter of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., two ex-spies and ex-spouses who are on the run with no friends, no S.H.I.E.L.D. and a long list of enemies looking to claim a bounty on their heads. Able to trust no one but each other, Bobbi and Hunter form an uneasy alliance with Dominic Fortune (Delroy Lindo), a rogue adventurer with a wealth of resources and even more adversaries, who agrees to protect them so long as they help him with his own agenda. These two heroes will help anyone in need, all while trying to uncover the conspiracy that put their own lives in jeopardy.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and series writer Paul Zbyszewski are developing Marvel’s Most Wanted. They wrote the pilot episode, and if the show gets picked up for a full season, Zbyszewski will take on the role of showrunner.

The Marvel’s Most Wanted pilot is expected to air later in 2016.

Next James Bond Film Will Be Inspired by "What The World Is Afraid of Now"

Sony Pictures and MGM are definitely going to make another James Bond film, it’s only a matter of time. We just don’t really know who will be involved with it. Earlier this month a rumor hit that said Daniel Craig might not come back to reprise his role. This would make sense because he gave a series of interviews in which he sounded like he never wanted to play the character again. It doesn’t sound like Sam Mendes will be back to direct Bond 25 either.

Regardless of all that, associate producer Gregg Wilson has revealed in an interview with filmweb.no that they are already in early development on the film. He offered an update on their progress:

“We’ve just begun to doodle with ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question ‘what is the world afraid of now?’ In the case of Spectre the theme was global monitoring and utilisation of information. So now we are trying to find out what will be relevant in the coming years.”

He also spoke about what they want to do with the character:

"We always want to do something new with the Bond character, and see him in situations we have not seen him in the past. We must give the audience something new every time...often it helps to go back to Ian Fleming's novels for inspiration, whether you're talking about grades or mood."

The quotes above are a rough translation from Google Translate, but you get the idea. I’m curious to see where Bond goes next. As much as liked Craig in the role of Bond, though, I think it’s time for another actor to take on the mantel of 007. What do you all think?

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Characters Are Sent Back to the Regency Era

Now that we’ve been introduced to the new characters in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, artists keep finding inspiration to reimagine them in the most unexpected of ways. I personally have never wondered what Finn, Rey, or Kylo would look like if they were sent back to the Regency era, but obviously, someone did.

An artist who goes under the name of TheRealMcgee on tumblr is pretty damn good when it comes to transforming the lead characters into Pride and Prejudice characters. He drew a series of images called “Star Wars Regency AU” (alternate universe) and the results are pretty cool, I have to admit.

So have a look at the Jane Austen-like adaptation of the seventh Star Wars movie and share your thoughts.

A collection of photos from the set of the Supergirl and The Flash crossover episode has hit the internet featuring Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin having a little fun and seeing a little action. The episode is called "World's Finest," and as you'll see in the photos, the other characters in the episode include Silver Banshee and Livewire.

"World's Finest" is set to air on March 28th. There are no major plot details that have been revealed at this time, but it will "bring Barry Allen to National City to meet titular heroine Kara Danvers" and you can bet they'll have their hands full with Silver Banshee and Livewire.

I'm excited about this multi-verse crossover and it's going to be fun to see these two characters fight alongside each other.

If Disney Movies Were Faithful to Their Dark and Twisted Source Material

Artist Paul Westover has created a series of funny yet disturbing artwork that shows us what some of the classic Disney films might look like had they been faithful to the source material. For those of you who weren’t aware, Disney had to make big changes to some of these stories for the sake of the kids. Many of the stories that Disney has told over the years are, in reality, horribly gruesome and dark as hell.

THE HATEFUL EIGHT Co-Star Demián Bichir Joins ALIEN: COVENANT

Those of you who saw The Hateful Eight, you'll be happy to hear that co-star Demián Bichir has joined the cast of Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. Bichir played Bob in the Quentin Tarantino film and he pretty much stole every scene that he was in. The guy was freakin' awesome in that movie and it's great to see that he landed a role in another high-profile film.

The news of the casting comes from Deadline, but there are no details regarding the character that he'll be playing. I can't help but think he'll be one of the characters that meets a bloody death, though. Whatever role he takes in the film, I'm sure he'll be fantastic.

He joins a wonderfully talented cast that already includes Michael Fassbender, who is reprising his role as the android David, Katherine Waterston, who will play a character named Daniels, and Danny McBride, who will have a lead role in the film and I can't help but think is going to add some interesting comic relief. The report also says that Noomi Rapace is in the film, which is interesting because previous reports indicated that her Dr. Elizabeth Shaw wouldn't be returning. I guess we'll have to wait and see how that shakes out.

Covenant takes place ten years after the events in Prometheus, and Scott has previously stated that the movie will have a "pretty hard R" rating. He really wants to do something special with this movie, and bring back elements that made his first Alien film so great. To help do this, the director has said that every version of the Xenomoph we've seen will appear in this movie. Here's the official synopsis:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Alien: Covenant will open in theaters on October 6th, 2016.

WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY Recut As A Modern Thriller

Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory is an age-old classic, but kind of dark! That was definitely apparent in the remake, but I guess I kind of glossed over the treachery and debauchery of the first! I guess I thought Willy Wonka closed the chocolate factory because he was crazy? Ryan Shukis reimagined the film, and recut a trailer that converts a delightful children's film into some abstract indie thriller!

I especially love the slow music in the background...it's being done to death in films now.

Ava DuVernay Confirmed To Direct Disney's A WRINKLE IN TIME

$

A couple of weeks ago, word came out that Selma director Ava DuVernay was being courted to direct an adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's Newberry Medal-winning book A Wrinkle in Time. Now Deadline reports that DuVernay has signed a deal with Disney to direct a script from Frozen co-writer and director Jennifer Lee, though it's unclear exactly when the project will go before cameras.

A Wrinkle in Time is about a young girl (and her friends) who go on a search for her missing father, a government scientist who was working on a top secret project involving an inter-dimensional tesseract.

At the time of the initial report, DuVernay was also in the mix to direct Intelligent Life, a sci-fi thriller from Jurassic World and Safety Not Guaranteed co-writers Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly that now has Lupita Nyong'o lined up to star. That film centers on a U.N. delegate tasked with being Earth's representative when humanity makes contact with alien life, only to fall in love with a mysterious woman who turns out to be an alien (Nyong'o). Deadline says that DuVernay is currently in negotiations to direct that movie as well, but there's no word on which one will end up shooting first.

Both of these sound like excellent fits for the director, and I'm excited that a female filmmaker is being given a chance to helm two relatively big-budget studio projects like these. I can't wait to see what she does with them.

Salma Hayek and Elodie Yung Join Ryan Reynolds in HITMAN'S BODYGUARD

$

Apparently Ryan Reynolds' first post-Deadpool movie isn't going to be a reunion with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick for the sci-fi thriller Life. While he may still end up doing that project, Deadline reports that his next movie will be something called Hitman's Bodyguard, which I've never heard of before. Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow is directing, and Salma Hayek and Daredevil star Elodie Yung have just been added to the cast — though we don't know anything about who they'll be playing. Oh, and did I mention that both Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman are also in this movie?

Here's Deadline's breakdown of the plot:

Reynolds plays the world’s top protection agent who gets a new client: a hit man who came in from the cold (Jackson). They’ve been on the opposite ends of a bullet for years and hate each other. They become stuck together and have 24 hours to get to the Hague. They have to get past a murderous Eastern European dictator (Oldman), and all the bad guys he can throw at them.

I'm not a fan of Wadlow's work (along with Kick-Ass 2, he also directed Cry_Wolf and Never Back Down), so despite the solid cast, I don't have a lot of faith in this one. At the very least, though, I hope Hayek and Yung both play assassins who try to take down Reynolds and Jackson instead of being stuck on the sidelines in boring wife/girlfriend roles. Filming starts on April 2nd.

Sophie Turner Explains The Difference Between Her Jean Grey and Famke Janssen's

Sophie Turner will have big shoes to fill when she takes on the role of Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse. For years, Famke Janssen has revealed to film audiences exactly what it means to be the telepathic mutant and has done a great job and stayed true to the comics! Entertainment Weekly spoke with Turner and asked her the difference between the Jean Grey we know, and the one we will see in the new film:

“The difference between this and Famke’s Jean Grey is she’s young and isolated and so insecure and very alienated – even from the other mutants – because she’s so powerful. So there’s a real vulnerability to her and it’s great to see how her and Scott [Tye Sheridan] find each other through that alienation. She’s a great role to play, she’s so much fun, and her arc in the movie is amazing.”

Can't argue with anything she said there, and she's pretty awesome in Game of Thrones so no complaints on my end! Do you like the casting? Do you think Turner can give us the Jean Grey we know and love?

Daniel Craig is Finished as James Bond, Says Mark Strong

$

0

After some speculation last week that Daniel Craig had played iconic superspy James Bond for the final time, we now have word from a source close to the actor that seemingly confirms those rumors.

Actor Mark Strong (Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Green Lantern) is apparently good friends with Craig, and in an interview with Shortlist in which Strong was asked about playing a Bond villain, he dropped the big news:

“Do you know what, I’d have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because he’s a pal and that would have been great. But I think he’s come to the end of his Bond time and so it’s probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great. Having played so many villains, it would have been wonderful to have done the villain of villains, if you like. Because a Bond villain has a status all of his own.”

Craig still has one film left on his contract, but it wouldn't be unprecedented for the studio to fire him or buy him out of his deal. When Strong was asked if he could talk Craig into one final outing as Bond, he said it was unlikely and responded:

“Well, I will try, believe me, I will do my best. But there are powers at work greater than us who make all these decisions.”

That sounds like the decision might have originated from the studio, but when he wrapped up, he made it seem more like it was Craig's call to walk away:

"I think he feels like he’s mined it. He’s done what he wants with it. That point has come.”

Now, keep in mind that this isn't coming directly from Craig himself or the studio, so at this point we still have to consider it unofficial. But it certainly sounds like Spectre will be the last time we see Craig suit up as 007.

Hey Fox! Let's Get Moving on That New Season of THE X-FILES!

$

hey-fox-lets-get-moving-on-that-new-season-of-the-x-files-social.jpg

The X-Files revival recently concluded with its sixth and final episode last night, and it completely left us with a major freakin’ cliffhanger! I was truly impressed by what creator Chris Carter and his team brought to these six episodes — it was like the series didn’t miss a beat! Each episode was carefully crafted and offered hardcore fans of the franchise exactly what they wanted to see. They even managed to give me a whole new favorite episode with "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster." It was freakin’ brilliant and I couldn’t be happier with what the creative team delivered. But you can’t end the series like that and not keep the story going!

Now that I’ve got a taste of The X-Files greatness again and it returned to very strong ratings, I don’t want it to end. This brief tenth season can’t be it! There needs to be more! The X-Files must live on! It would be such a waste if it didn’t.

Carter has said that he has already written a script for another standalone X-Files movie, which is great and I hope it happens! But I would much rather see at least six more episodes. The creator said in the past that he would like to continue the series, but that he’s waiting for Fox to come back and ask for more.

Fox CEO Gary Newman said at the time that the biggest issue with moving forward with more X-Files episodes is working around the schedules of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Now I’m not asking for a full-on 20 episode seasons like the series used to be. That would be nice, but I’m just looking for at least six more episodes, and they should do it at least every couple of years or so. That seems like it would be doable.

When asked by SFX magazine before the revival aired if there would be another season, Duchovny said:

“I don’t know. I hate to disappoint, but I take things as they come. Each day on the set had its own challenges and charms and problems. But when I sat down and watched it, I saw that the show still worked and the characters still worked. I have never not believed in the frame of the show as being so flexible as to be almost infinite.
We have a show that can be comedy, drama, science fiction, mystery, thriller, horror and not feel like it’s a different show. Doing six is maybe not enough to show that flexibility, so maybe we have more to do. I don’t know, we’ll see. Having gone through it again, I think we’re all okay with moving forward with more. I don’t want to speak for everyone, but I would.”

He’s sounds incredibly optimistic there and he would obviously make it work if he could. Anderson, on the other hand, had a different tone:

“It’s possible but not probable. It will be an ongoing conversation. We have to see how it does and if people are enthusiastic about it and have the same interest. I think it’s all dependent on that.”

Well, I think the audience has spoken! The series held on to solid ratings and the fans loved what they saw! While a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show recently, right before the season finale aired, Duchovny was asked if he would do more X-Files episodes again, and this was his response:

"Yeah, I think we're all open to it. It's just a matter of getting everyone's schedules to jive. Gillian lives in London. I live...I don't know where I live. I live somewhere. Chris lives here (California). I would love to. I think we all would. We'll see what happens."

Unfortunately, there are currently no plans, which is crazy to me considering the way the season ended. I expected to hear news today that Fox had ordered a new season, but that's not what we got. Instead, entertainment president David Madden recently told Variety:

“We said before it aired that we would love to do more, and we are over the moon with the performance. So far, the response has been really encouraging. We haven’t talked to the talent yet about Season 2 in any more definitive way than we had prior to airing the show, but certainly, it seems like there’s an audience responding to the show that would love to see more episodes.”

Then, Carter added in a separate interview with THR:

"They're going to ask for more. The ratings were very good. They were happy with the show. I talked to Dana Walden today. She said they'd very much like more, but nothing's being negotiated yet."

Why the hell isn't Fox jumping all over this and getting a new season rolling!? I just want them to get rolling on it so we can see this story continue as soon as possible! It seems like all of the cards have fallen into place and if Fox wants to make another season, all they have to do is ask. So please, Fox, please reach out to Carter and the gang and get rolling on another season of The X-Files!

As for the cliffhanger we were left with for the season finale, Carter says that he knows where it's going.

"The X-Files traditionally ended with a cliffhanger, and we didn't want to do anything different. This just happens to be a very big cliffhanger. I have an idea of where the story goes."

Hopefully we get to see where that goes sooner rather than later. What did you all think about these past six episodes of The X-Files?

Jeph Loeb Denies THE PUNISHER Spin-Off Series at Netflix

$

A little over a month ago, we heard that Marvel and Netflix were developing a new spin-off series for The Punisher with star Jon Bernthal in mind to reprise his role from the upcoming second season of Daredevil. Since then, things have been quiet, but now Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb has come out saying that fans shouldn't believe everything they read. He told Digital Spy:

"I think that's something that people are speculating on, as opposed to something that's actually happening. It's certainly our hope that any of our characters will be embraced and that people want to see more of them."

That sounds like a weak-ass denial to me. I'm guessing a Punisher show is ready and waiting, but the execs are just waiting to make sure that everyone is receptive to the character when Daredevil season 2 debuts before they officially pull the trigger. It would be pretty embarrassing to announce a spin-off, only to have the show debut and everyone hate his character. To me, this reads as just safe decision-making on Marvel TV's part, and I will not be surprised in the least when a Punisher show gets an official green light in a few weeks.

And for those who are interested, Loeb also spoke a bit about the renewal of Jessica Jones for a second season and how that was surprising news for him:

"When they announced that Jessica Jones was getting a second season, every single report said, 'It should come as a surprise to no one that Jessica Jones has received a second season order'. I'm the guy going, 'Well, it was a surprise to me!' It isn't a given in television. The fact that we get to continue telling stories with these characters speaks a lot about the quality of the storytelling and the acting and the writing. We are telling the best stories that we can at Netflix, and they seem to be responding to it."

Season 2 of Daredevil will be available for streaming on Netflix starting on March 18th.
