Universal Pictures has released a new behind the scenes featurette for Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of the classic musical Les Misérables. The clip features Eddie Redmayne who plays Marius in the film, giving us a glimpse at, and talking about, the epic barricade scenes.

The musical also stars Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Samantha Barks, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter. I'm excited to see how this turns out, hopefully it's going to be as epic as I imagine it should be.

Les Misérables is set to be released on December 14th, 2012. Do you enjoy the musical, and are you looking forward to this movie?

Synopsis:

Les Misérables is the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe and still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 27th year. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

In December 2012, the world’s longest-running musical brings its power to the big screen in Tom Hooper’s sweeping and spectacular interpretation of Victor Hugo’s epic tale. With international superstars and beloved songs–including “I Dreamed a Dream,” “Bring Him Home,” “One Day More” and “On My Own”–Les Misérables, the show of shows, is now reborn as the cinematic musical experience of a lifetime.

THE HANGOVER 3 Official Plot Description Tease

Warner Bros. has announced that Todd Phillips' The Hangover Part III has officially started shooting. The Wolfpack is back and ready to jump into some more crazy shit. The studio also released a short plot description that teases the insanity that awaits us this third time around.

This time, there's no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

Yeah, I don't imagine a road trip would turn out very well with this group of guys. We've previously heard that they will go back to Las Vegas, but eventually end up in Mexico where Doug ends up in some kind of asylum. I'm looking forward to seeing what exactly is in store for us this time around.

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha are all back to reprise their roles as Phil, Stu, Alan and Doug. Also returning to the fold are Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Gillian Vigman, Sasha Barrese and Jamie Chung. John Goodman is a new addition to the cast.

Are you excited about The Hangover 3?

BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS - 2 New Animated Clips

DC Entertainment has released a couple of new clips from the upcoming animated adaptation of Frank Miller's classic comic, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1. Hopefully the movie turns out being as good as it looks. I thought Batman: Year One was going to be good, but it ended up being pretty disappointing.

Here's the synopsis:

It’s been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.

The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new...and old.

Peter Weller provides the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne and is joined by David Selby as Commissioner Gordon, Ariel Winter as Robin, Wade Williams as Two-Face and Michael McKean as Dr. Bartholomew Wolper. It was directed by Jay Oliva, and written by Bob Goodman and executive produced by Sam Register and Bruce Timm.

The film will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital platforms on September 25th. Check out the latest trailer for the film by clicking here.  Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 will be released in early 2013. Do you think this will be a solid adaptation of the comic?

Trailer for HBO's Alfred Hitchcock Film THE GIRL

HBO has released a full trailer for their newest film The Girl. The story focuses on the relationship between legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) and actress Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) while working on the director's incredible 1963 film The Birds. Apparently they had an incredibly intense working relationship during the production of the film. Hedren later accused Hitchcock of ruining her career when she refused his sexual advances. It looks like a great movie, and Jones has completely nailed Hitchcock.

Here's the synopsis:

THE GIRL tells the story of iconic director Alfred Hitchcock’s obsessive relationship with his leading lady, Tippi Hedren, during the making of “The Birds” and “Marnie.” Written by Gwyneth Hughes (HBO's 'Five Days,' 'Miss Austin Regrets'), THE GIRL is directed by Julian Jarrold ('Becoming Jane', 'Red Riding Trilogy').

The movie is set to be released on Saturday, October 20th. Watch the trailer and let us know if you'll be tuning in to watch it. What would you say your favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie is?

L.A. Confidential Prequel THE BIG NOWHERE to get Film Adaptation

Author James Ellroy's novel The Big Nowhere is set to be adapted for the big screen. The story is a prequel to L.A. Confidential which was adapted into a film back in 1997. I'm a big fan of Ellroy's work, he also wrote The Black Dahlia, which was adapted into a film back in 2006, and White Jazz, which director Joe Carnahan has been trying to get into production. Ellroy is obsessed with the history of Los Angeles crime and murder and this series of books makes up his "L.A. Quartet" series.

The Big Nowhere is set in Los Angeles in the 1950's and features connecting storylines of various different characters that we were introduced to in L.A. Confidential. The story follows a Sheriff's deputy named Danny Upshaw as he hunts down a serial sex killer. At the same time he's also being forced to expose Hollywood communists. It will be directed by Italian director Luca Guadagnino (I am Love) and produced by Harry Potter producer David Heyman. This is a great book, and it should make for a solid movie! I'm looking forward to seeing this get adapted.

Have you read any of Ellroy's work? I'm sure many of you have seen the movies, are you excited about this book finally getting its big screen adaptation?

Here's the description from the book:

Los Angeles, 1950 Red crosscurrents: the Commie Scare and a string of brutal mutilation killings. Gangland intrigue and Hollywood sleaze. Three cops caught in a hellish web of ambition, perversion, and deceit. Danny Upshaw is a Sheriff's deputy stuck with a bunch of snuffs nobody cares about; they're his chance to make his name as a cop...and to sate his darkest curiosities. Mal Considine is D.A.'s Bureau brass. He's climbing on the Red Scare bandwagon to advance his career and to gain custody of his adopted son, a child he saved from the horror of postwar Europe. Buzz Meeks-bagman, ex-Narco goon, and pimp for Howard Hughes-is fighting communism for the money. All three men have purchased tickets to a nightmare.

DreamWorks has released the first teaser trailer for Steven Spielberg's long awaited presidential epic Lincoln. This is in preparation for the release of the full trailer on September 13th, during a Google+ Hangout with Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Not much is shown in the trailer, but it's enough to get me excited to see the movie even more!

The story is a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come. The story is based in part on the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

The movie stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones. Lincoln will get a limited release on November 9th, 2012, with expansion on November 16th. TARDIS in Wonderland - DOCTOR WHO Fan Art

Here's a great piece of crossover Doctor Who fan art called TARDIS in Wonderland. I love how the illustration was inspired by Alice in Wonderland artist John Tenniel. The piece was created by ParodiesLost and it comes with the following note,

Upon reflection, it's seems only natural that the Doctor and the TARDIS would have made it to Wonderland and crossed paths with Alice herself-- as this previously unpublished drawing by famous Alice illustrator John Tenniel reveals!* And who wouldn't love to have been able to eavesdrop on any conversation he might have had with the Chesire cat!?! [*Statements may not reflect objective reality!]

This could definitly be a very cool concept for a future episode of Doctor Who!

Y: THE LAST MAN is Now a Top Priority for New Line

After trying to get an adaptation of the graphic novel Y: The Last Man off the ground for almost a decade, New Line Cinema has now put it on their priority list of films to make. According to Vulture the studio is very happy with the current draft of the script that was written by former Jericho writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia. The studio has now started the process of trying to find a director, and they are currently meeting with candidates to hire.

The comic was created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, and the story focuses on a character named Yorick, an escape artist, who becomes the last man on Earth when a plague wipes out all of the males on the planet except Yorick and his pet monkey, Ampersand. He treks across the world in search of his girlfriend Beth, to whom he was proposing on the phone when the plague/event/mystery cause struck.

The movie has gone through several directors already such as D.J. Caruso and Louis Leterrier. It will be interesting to see who they bring on to direct the film next. Are there any directors you'd like to see take it on? Hopefully they can get someone with a solid vision of what this comic book needs to look like on the big screen.

Trailer for A LATE QUARTET with Christopher Walken

$

This new trailer for a film called A Late Quartet isn't really geeky, it's more of a drama, but it has a great cast of actors that include Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Imogen Poots.

The story follows four members of a world-renowned New York string quartet who struggle to stay together in the face of death, competing egos and insuppressible lust.

It looks like a solid movie and it looks like everyone gives an incredible performance. It's been a very long time since we've seen Walken do a serious drama like this where he doesn't play a parody of himself. That reason alone, is enough to get me excited about seeing this movie.

The movie gets a limited release on November 2nd. Watch the trailer and hit us up with your thoughts in the comment section below! In your opinion, what do you think Walken's last serious role in a movie was?

BLADE RUNNER Mondo Poster Featuring Pleasure Model Pris

Mondo has released another great piece of poster art. This one was inspired by Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi noir film Blade Runner. The unique design was created by Craig Drake, and it features the character Pris. Here's what the artist had to say about the piece in a interview with io9,

I think Pris has a strong character design, both her aesthetic and her personality are extremely iconic.

The motivation for Pris was to merge the vibrant Nagel stye with the gorgeous darkness of Syd Mead's futuristic landscape. For Pris in particular, I felt she needed to veer slightly away from the familiar 80's style and rendition her towards a more comic book noir.

Blade Runner is one of the greatest films ever made. As if cinematic planets aligned to bring together genius design.

Well, he did an incredible job with the poster, it has a slick design. The 24 x 36 poster will be available for sale from Mondo on Friday, for $60 bucks. It's a limited edition print of 125 copies.

According to the site, the art is part of a new Mondo exhibition opening this Friday in Austin, TX that will feature two more Blade Runner posters created by Drake, along with his sleek 80s-inspired poster art for Metropolis, Black Swan, Kill Bill and more.

What do you think of the poster design?

Two film clips have been released for The Place Beyond the Pines, a film written and directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine). It also has a great cast that is sure to make you want to see it, those actors include Ryan GoslingBradley Cooper, Greta Gerwig, Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, Ali Mahershalalhasbaz, Gabe FazioMax Martini and Emory Cohen

In the film Gosling plays "a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son, but when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Cooper) their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud." Gosling might just be one of the most badass actors working right now.

This looks and sounds like it going to make a great movie. It's described as "a rich dramatic thriller, tracing the intersecting lives of fathers and sons, cops and robbers, heroes and villains." The movie premiered at TIFF, and most of the reviews have been pretty enthusiastic. The movie is set to be released in early 2013, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out! I believe this is the droid you were looking for. Here's a cool modified LSU-themed R2-D2 droid called the R2-D2 Kegerator, and it's sole function is to serve beer at parties. Every college should have a R2-D2 themed keg! I'm surprised no one in the Star Wars universe took advantage of this droid option. At least they could have used it to serve blue milk.

Danny Trejo and Stephen Lang Join IN THE BLOOD

Danny Trejo (Machete) and Stephen Lang (Avatar) are in negotiations to join Gina Carano (Haywire) in a new action thriller called In the Blood. The movie is being directed by John Stockwell from a script witten by Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston and then polished by Sean Finnegan and Gregg Parker.

The movie was set up for MMA champion Carano, and the story centers "on a wife whose husband disappears while they are vacationing in the Caribbean. The grieving wife passionately and recklessly pursues the men she believes kidnapped and killed him." So it's like Taken, but the badass character is a woman. According to THR, Lang will play Carano’s father, "who raised her to be skillfully self-sufficient and brutally tough." Trejo will play a thug named Big Biz who will face off against Carano.

Sounds like it coulds be an entertainingly badass action flick! I'd love to see Trejo and Carano fight each other! I'd pay to see that... would you?
