Mark Hamill Says Luke Was Traumatized After Learning He Kissed His Sister

0
0

In The Empire Strikes Back, we saw Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia share a seemingly innocent kiss that made the love triangle between Han, Luke, and Leia a little more intriguing. When we learned in Return of the Jedi that they were actually brother and sister, that whole kissing scene took on a whole new meaning and it has been joked about ever since.

I don’t care what anyone says, but to this day I believe that George Lucas didn’t know he was going to make Luke and Leia brother and sister until he was developing Return of the Jedi. In a recent Twitter post, Mark Hamill was asked by a fan how he thinks Luke must have felt when he learned the truth, and this was his response:

“It's a big joke & everyone has a good laugh, but for Luke it was TRAUMATIC! Seriously, a life-altering experience.”

I don’t know how Luke could have not felt weird and a little messed up after that. She gave him a pretty hefty kiss! Here’s a fun video I found to accompany this post.

Geek-inspired clothing lines have been exploding in recent years. I’ve been seeing more and more of them flooding the internet. Hot Topic seems to have cornered the market, but there are a few other clothing companies out there creating great things that fans are loving.

Matchless London has created a line of high-end jackets that are inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They are based on jackets worn by Han Solo, Poe Dameron, and Princess Leia. There are also jackets that pay tribute to Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and more.

The jackets come in both men and women cuts so everyone can get in on the stylish Star Wars action…if you can afford it. The prices are in the $1500 range. If you want to purchase one, click here.

Batman Fight Scene From New BATMAN V SUPERMAN Trailer Gets 1966 Treatment

The last Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer really seemed to pump fans up for the movie. The opening fight scene with Batman was my favorite part about it. It was nice to actually see the Dark Knight kick some serious ass! YouTuber Adam Ihle says immediately after he saw the scene, he knew that he had to give it a cheesy 1966 makeover and as you'll see, it turned out pretty fun.

Stunning Battle Art Combines STAR WARS with Feudal Japan

South Korean artist Kim Jung Gi is the creator of this amazing art that combines elements of Star Wars with the imagery of feudal Japan. It makes sense to mash these two things together, especially since one of the things that inspired Star Wars was Akira Kurosawa’s samurai films.

The artist spent three hours working on his art, and he did it all from memory. I’ve included images of his completed art and a video of him working on the piece as well that you can check out below. It’s really cool to watch this guy work.

DC Entertainment has released the second chapter of their five-part motion comic series called Gotham Stories. This one is called Mr. Freeze Targets Penguin. It centers on Penguin, his thugs, and Selina Kyle coming face to face with Mr. Freeze, and it’s not really a fun experience for him.

This series was developed to bridge the gap between Gotham Season 2 “Rise of the Villains,” and the next episode of the second half of the season, “Wrath of the Villains.”

Gotham cast members Robin Lord Taylor (Penguin), Camren Bicondova (Cat), Nathan Darrow (Victor Fries), Ben McKenzie (Jim Gordon), and Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock) all provide their voices to this Gotham Stories series. Watch the first episode right here.

Each installment will air on Fox every week during The X-Files leading up to the mid-season premiere on February 29th, which is when the last installment of the web-series will air.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE Trailer Re-Cut as an Inspirational Drama is Bizarre

It’s a rare thing to post anything revolving around Napoleon Dynamite these days. It was a hilariously stupid film that became an instant cult classic, but then people seemingly stopped talking about it. YouTube user Ryan Shukis is bringing the magic of Napoleon Dynamite back into our lives with a bizarre trailer that he cut of the film making it look like an inspirational drama. Along with recutting the trailer, one of the other main things used to achieve this dramatic change is the inspirational music that was added. In a dramatic version of this movie, I can’t help but think that the llama Tina would be a character that we never see who has some kind of terrible disease or tragic disability. As soon as I wrote that last sentence, I thought of the line from the film, "Tina, you fat lard, come get some dinner,” which of course made me laugh. What’s wrong with me!? Enjoy the trailer.

THE WIZARD OF OZ Gets a Michael Bay-Style Trailer

I’ve never thought of what The Wizard of Oz might be like as a Michael Bay film, but Mashable Watercolor has, and they edited together a trailer to show us what that movie might look like! After watching it, I'd have to say that there aren’t enough explosions for it to be a proper Michael Bay film.

This is the first of a new weekly web series that re-imagines your favorite films as entirely different genres.

Jennifer Jason Leigh to Join Natalie Portman in Alex Garland’s Sci-Fi Film ANNIHILATION

Jennifer Jason Leigh, who recently starred in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, is in talks to join Natalie Portman in the sci-fi film Annihilation. The movie is being directed by Ex Machina writer and director Alex Garland

The story is based on the novel by Jeff VanderMeer, which follows “a four-person expedition into Area X, a territory cut off from civilization. While there, [a biologist] must deal with a mysterious contamination, disappearing colleagues, a deadly animal and a being known as the Crawler, all while searching for clues regarding her husband’s disappearance.”

The expedition team for the dangerous mission consists of only women and Area X is a place where the laws of nature don’t apply. The group consists of an anthropologist; a surveyor; a psychologist who serves as the group’s de facto leader; and a biologist, played by Portman, who serves as the narrator. Two of the other actresses who have been cast in the film include Gina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson, but there’s no information on who exactly they’re playing.

Leigh is talented as hell and after seeing her in The Hateful Eight, there was no doubt that she would start getting job offers for better more high-profile films like this.

She is next set to star as Bella Thorne in Amityville: The Awakening, she’s also playing Lady Bird Johnson opposite Woody Harrelson in Rob Reiner‘s political drama LBJ, and she will be in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks revival series.

New STAR WARS Novel BLOODLINE Will Give Us Princess Leia's Backstory

new-star-wars-novel-bloodline-will-give-us-princess-leias-backstory22

If you're a fan of Princess Leia and you are looking for a backstory that tells us how she went from being a princess to a General, there's a new Star Wars book coming out that will help fill in some of the blanks.

The book is called Star Wars: Bloodline, it was written by Claudia Gray, and it will explore what happens with Leia in the years between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

The story finds Leia as a high-ranking senator in the New Republic decades after the fall of Darth Vader and the Emperor's stranglehold on the galaxy. It's explained that the "new generation doesn't remember the lessons of the Rebellion or recognize the wrongs of the Empire, and Leia begins to see the cracks in the foundation that could lead to a dangerous future for the galaxy."

The author explains that "this novel isn't fundamentally about Leia as a wife, sister or mom; this is about the role she's created for herself since the fall of the Empire, and the one she takes up by the time of (The Force Awakens)."

The novel will introduce an interesting character named Ransolm Casterfo, a person that Gray describes as "an ambitious young senator who's Leia's political opposite in virtually every way. He even collects artifacts from the Empire, like pro-Palpatine banners, pieces of armor, and so on."

This definitely sounds like it will be an interesting book to read. Thanks to USA Today, you can read an excerpt from it:

An entire generation has prospered during an era of peace. The New Republic, governed by the Galactic Senate on Hosnian Prime, has held power for more than two decades. Yet conflict has begun to take shape within the Senate. As political gridlock threatens to cripple the fledgling democracy, the quarrels of the New Republic will soon radiate throughout the galaxy. . .
The conference building of the New Republic senatorial complex contained multiple rooms appropriate for every kind of auxiliary function imaginable, from memorial concerts to awards ceremonies. Leia Organa and Tai-Lin Garr headed toward one of the smallest banquet rooms. The breakfast meeting had been organized by VarishVicly, who couldn’t imagine a bad time for a party.
Varish came loping toward them now on all fours. “There you are! I was worried you’d be late.”
“We’re still early,” Leia protested as both she and Tai-Lin were wrapped in quick, long-limbed hugs.
“Yes, but I worry. You know how these guys get.”
“Now come along and be introduced to everyone,” Varish insisted. Soon Leia found herself shaking hands and paws, murmuring greetings; thanks to some review holos Korr Sella had prepared for her, she recognized each senator in attendance and could even ask a few pertinent questions about their families and worlds.
They entered the banquet hall together, the entire group walking two by two. Leia knew the seat at the far end of the table would be hers, guest of honor as counterpart to the host. So she walked the length of the room, attentive to the senator at her side, before glancing down at the arrangements — sumptuous even by Varish’s standards, with a velvet runner stretching along the table and delicate paper streamers lying across the tables, beneath elaborately folded napkins. Leia had to laugh. “Honestly, Varish. For breakfast?” In other words, Leia thought as she listened to someone cheerfully talk about his grandchildren, this is going wonderfully for everyone but me.
This won good-natured chuckles from the room; Varish Vicly’s lavish tastes were well known, a foible she herself joked about. Today, however, she shrugged. “I didn’t request this. Maybe the serving staff heard my name and assumed that meant to go all out.” Varish smiled as she took her seat. “If that’s my reputation . . . you know, I can live with it.”
Leia settled into her chair, picked up her napkin — and stopped.
Something was written on the paper streamer on her plate. Actual writing. Virtually nobody wrote any longer; it had been years since Leia had seen actual words handwritten in ink on anything but historical documents.
But today, someone had left this message on her plate, only one word long:
RUN.
Leia shoved her chair back, instantly leaping to her feet. “We have to get out of here,” she said to the startled senators at the table. “Now. Go!”

WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT — All The Differences Between The Book and Film

0
0

I’ll admit, I didn’t realize that Robert Zemeckis’ classic 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit was based on a book until many years after I saw the movie. The 1981 book that the movie is based on was called Who Censored Roger Rabbit? and it was written by Gary Wolf.

I’ve never read the book, but CineFix has released another episode of their Film vs. Book web-series and this latest one points out all of the differences between the book and the film.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Who Censored Roger Rabbit are both mystery stories that merge the real world with the toon world. One involves the killing of movie executive while the other surrounds the shooting of the title character. While the movie and book have some similarities as they both involve private eye Eddie Valiant trying to solve a murder, but a vast number of plot points (particularly the victim) and character attributes were altered from the book to the movie. At that, it’s time pull back the proverbial shower curtain on all the differences between the book and the film.

If you’re a fan of the movie, this is a must-watch. It’s packed full of interesting information that I never knew before.

DEADPOOL Destroys the Box Office and Breaks All Kinds of Records

Deadpool completely obliterated the box office this weekend breaking all kinds of records. And to think, Fox avoided making this film for YEARS! I'm sure the studio is happy that they finally came to their senses and let Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds make the movie they knew the fans wanted to see.

Over the weekend, Deadpool pulled in over $260 million worldwide. It made around $125 million internationally and $135 million domestically. That makes it one the biggest R-rated openings ever, surpassing The Matrix Reloaded‘s $91.7 million. It also now claims the record for largest R-rated comic book movie opening ever, previously held by Zack Snyder's 300, which made $70.8 million on its opening weekend. Deadpool also takes the top spot for the 20th Century Fox's biggest opening, beating Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which made $108.4 million.

So yeah, Deadpool kicked some serious ass this weekend in more ways than one. It makes me wonder if the executives over at Fox are kicking themselves for not jumping on this movie sooner. This just proves that they were all wrong for sitting on this property for so long and that studio executives don't always know what's best.

The Deadpool team managed to pull this off on a $58 million budget and lots of creativity, so the profit margin is huge! I couldn't be happier that Deadpool is a success, and I'm sure it will go on to break more records as more and more people go out to the theater to watch it.

Stephen Lang Wants to Play Cable in DEADPOOL Sequel

It's been confirmed that Cable will be joining Deadpool in the sequel that Fox is already developing. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has already said he'd like to see Jon Hamm in the role, then there was some fan wishful thinking that Liam Neeson would be a good choice for the part.

Now Avatar actor Stephen Lang wants to play the character, and he's actively gunning for it. Over the weekend he tweeted the following:

It certainly looks like he could play the part. He's a solid actor as well, so if he ended up being cast I wouldn't complain. The fan art you see above was created by Boss Logic, and it shows us what that actor might look like as Cable.

It's going to be interesting to see who actually ends up being cast in the role, but at this point I think Hamm has the best shot at landing it because that's who Liefeld wants and he played a big part in helping bring Deadpool to the big screen. We'll see how it all plays out, though!

What do you think about Lang in the role of Cable? Who would be your top choice to play the character?

Teaser Trailer for GAME OF THRONES Season 6 Features Some Familiar Heads

0
0

HBO released the first teaser trailer for Game of Thrones season six, and it eerily brings back some familiar faces/heads to help fuel the excitement fof what's in store for us this next season. There are a lot of questions that need answering, and one of the biggest revolves around the fate of Jon Snow. In case you missed them, last week, 24 photos were released that teased a few things regarding certain characters in the upcoming season. You should check them out if you haven't already, because they fill us in on more information than this promo trailer does.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues. It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men...all play the 'Game of Thrones.' An original series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series.
Game of Thrones season five began with a power vacuum that protagonists across Westeros and Essos were looking to fill. At Castle Black, Jon Snow struggled to balance the demands of the Night’s Watch with those of newly-arrived Stannis Baratheon, who styles himself the rightful king of Westeros. Meanwhile, Cersei scrabbled to hold on to power in King’s Landing amidst the Tyrells and the rise of a religious group led by the enigmatic High Sparrow, while Jaime embarked on a secret mission. Across the Narrow Sea, Arya sought an old friend while a fugitive Tyrion found a new cause. And as danger mounts in Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen found that her tenuous hold on the city requires some hard sacrifices.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on April 24th.

Impressive Fan-Made WONDER WOMAN Trailer Highlights World War I Setting

0
0

A few weeks ago Warner Bros. shared some footage from Patty Jenkins' upcoming Wonder Woman film, and there was some really cool stuff to see. YouTube user Tim Gonzales took that footage and the footage from a few other films to create a spectacular fan trailer for Wonder Woman that really does a great job highlighting the World War I setting. In all honesty, this is probably one of the most impressive fan-made trailers that I've seen. Here's a note from the creator:

We're still a year away from seeing Wonder Woman make her big screen debut, but after seeing the first footage from Gal Gadot's solo outing as The Amazon Princess during the CW Justice League special last month, my hype levels went through the roof.

Then just a few days ago, the final Batman v Superman trailer dropped and we heard a line of dialogue from Gal Gadot as Diana for the first time... that motivated me to cut together a concept trailer for her Wonder Woman solo film, due out June 2017. Hope you enjoy!

Wonder Woman is currently in the middle of production, and the movie stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, and Connie Nielsen. It's set to be released in theaters on June 23th, 2017.

10 CLOVERFIELD LANE Gets an Intense Extended TV Spot

0
0

During the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead season six, an extended TV spot aired for the upcoming J.J. Abrams-produced film 10 Cloverfield Lane. It offers us a little bit more footage from the film, but I have to say... I was perfectly happy with the first surprise teaser trailer for the film that was released.

I really liked the mystery and intrigue behind this film, but all that is gone now. They went from telling me nothing to telling me more than I wanted to know. I was hoping they'd hold off on revealing more than they had to, but it seems like they're on a role with showing us more stuff. I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie, but this is one of those rare instances where the more I see from it, the more I wish they would just stop releasing stuff.

10 Cloverfield Lane is being directed by Dan Trachtenberg, and it stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher Jr. It's set to be released on March 11th, 2016. Hopefully they are holding back some big surprises because it hasn't been hard to piece together what is happening in the story from the trailers that have been released.
