Full Trailer for AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE PEOPLE V. O.J. SIMPSON

0
0

FX has released the first full trailer for their upcoming new series American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. The series comes from American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, who directed the first episode of the anthology crime series.

I’m intrigued by true crime stories like this, and I’m really curious to see how this series plays out. I was a teenager when all the O.J. Simpson stuff was going down, and I remember how crazy the media and just regular people were over it. That’s all anyone really seemed to care about at the time.

I’m looking forward to the series, and this trailer reintroduces us to several of the main players in the story. I’ve gotta say… John Travolta looks creepy as hell as Robert Shapiro.

American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, the first installment of the new limited series from prolific producer Ryan Murphy, will debut on FX in early 2016 with an all-star cast portraying the key figures in the infamous O.J. Simpson murder trial. The cast includes Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, John Travolta as defense attorney Robert Shapiro, David Schwimmer as defense attorney Robert Kardashian, Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark, Courtney B. Vance as defense attorney Johnnie Cochran, and Bruce Greenwood as Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti.
Based on the book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson by Jeffrey Toobin, the limited series is a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers. It explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution overconfidence, defense shrewdness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.

The limited series is set to air in February 2016.

Fantastic 2015 Movie Tribute Video by Sleepy Skunk

Sleepy Skunk is back with another end of the year tribute video. This covers all of the films that were released over the course of the past year. The video is titled “2015 Movie Trailer Mashup,” and it turned out great. The video was sent into us by the creator, and in the e-mail he sent he said:

“Another year, another end-of-year mashup… I put an absolutely insane amount of effort and heart into this video.”

You can definitely tell his efforts paid off because the video turned out pretty awesome. It’s fun seeing how different video editors bring all of these films together to remind movie fans of all the great and terrible films that we’ve seen over the last year. For the complete list of films included in the video in order of appearance, click here.

Details on the “Splash Page” Fight Scene in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

0
0

There’s going to be a big epic fight sequence between Iron Man’s team and Captain America’s team in Captain America: Civil War. We got a little glimpse of it in the trailer that was released. The scene shows our favorite heroes fighting each other on the tarmac of an airport. It’s really weird see these MCU characters fighting each other, but that’s just where the story is going to take them.

A major part of the story revolves around Bucky Barnes/The Winter Solider and Captain America trying to save him, maybe even help him find redemption for the terrible things that he’s done over the years. In an interview with EW, Chris Evans said:

“Had Bucky not been brainwashed he’d be doing the same thing Cap is doing, taking orders from S.H.I.E.L.D. and fighting for the country and then realizing S.H.I.E.L.D. is corrupt. But Bucky’s a different situation. He obviously couldn’t make these choices. This is — I don’t want to give too much about the plot away but Bucky’s a big piece of the puzzle in this movie just because it gives Steve something that he really hasn’t had besides Peggy, but even Peggy is well on in her life.”

He added:

“No one on this planet knew him then. No one is left. He doesn’t have any peace with his youth. He doesn’t have any peace from his life, so Bucky and whatever happens with Bucky in this movie… That’s a big piece in terms of him kind of finding his own purpose in what he’s fighting for and how that friendship can come back to life. Not just them as soldiers, but them as friends.”

This will eventually lead to a climatic battle that is sure to leave fans breathless. That scene was called the “Splash Page” fight by the cast and crew. Why? Because that's a comic-book term for a full-spread illustration that either opens a story or marks its climax.

According to EW, we’ll see Black Widow give “an all-out thrashing to Ant-Man, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch blast away at the sky — him with his trusty bow and arrows, her with her mystical red energy pulses. They’re trying to knock some unseen threat out of the air.” That unseen force could end up being Rhodey and Vision. Then there’s Iron Man “flying low and locked onto another target: Captain America. Evans raises his shield, slings an upper cut through the air, and gets in one more hit against his invisible foe before he’s almost taken out in real life.”

Talking about the story for the film and how it will affect the characters, director Joe Russo explained:

“The story is about family. And what happens if they don’t agree. We’ve been comparing it to a fight at a wedding. What happens when your cousin and your brother go at it, and whose side are you on, and where does it go from there?”

Anthony Russo added:

“How do you move forward from a moment where people who used to love each other and were on the same side, now hate each other and are trying to hurt each other?. [Cap is] such a strong, grounded, morally centered, ethically centered character. You can beat at him pretty hard as a hero, to try to crack that strength — both morally and physically.”

The movie will rock theaters on May 6th, 2016. What do you think of what the cast and crew had to say about the movie here?

Marvel Hires a New Screenwriter for THOR: RAGNAROK

Marvel is looking to polish up the Thor: Ragnarok script, which written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle. The studio has hired screenwriter Stephany Folsom to work on it as well. She is best known for her 2013 Black List script 1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon, which tells an alternate history story of a publicist who convinces director Stanley Kubrick to work with NASA in order to fake the moon landing.

Folsom is the latest female writer to join the Marvel fold. She joins Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), who are in the process of writing the script for Captain Marvel. I guess Marvel feels that Thor: Ragnarok could use a woman's touch, which would make sense if they are bringing some strong female characters into the story. There have been rumors that Valkyrie could make her big screen debut and there’s another major female villain that could be introduced. It hasn’t been revealed who yet, but my money is on Enchantress.

Taika Waititi, who co-wrote and co-directed the vampire spoof What We Do In the Shadows, is set to helm the third installment of Marvel’s Thor movies. Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the god of thunder, and he will be joined by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. This is a team-up that is sure to have awesome results.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on July 28th, 2017. To catch up on all our previous news on this film, click here.

SUPER DRUNK Is a Superhero Short Film Written and Acted by Drunk People

The creators of the hilarious Star Trek spoof short, "Star Drunk," are back with a new series of five shorts for your viewing enjoyment. Like "Star Drunk," all of these films were written and acted by drunk people. I'll be posting one of these films a day over the next five days for you to watch and enjoy. They really do bring on the laughs.

The Drunk Series is an experiment in writing screenplays while drunk with several writers from the Portland area. We promised each other that whatever we wrote, we would produce them as short films. We ended up with six creations and asked our brave and talented cast to be sloppy, near-blackout drunk on the days and nights of filming.

The first short in the series that I'm sharing is called "Super Drunk." It's a superhero genre parody and it comes with this brief story summary:  "Super heroes and super villains collide in order to save or destroy the planet. Except everybody's drunk."

A lot of people seemed to enjoy "Star Drunk," which was released a couple of years ago, so if you liked that, you'll definitely enjoy these new parody shorts. I also included a making-of video, which is also pretty funny and worth watching. To watch "Star Drunk," click here.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN - New Trailer Easter Eggs, References, and Screenshots

0

Last night, the second full trailer was released for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The trailer was met with a lot of mixed reactions. Some people loved what they saw, and some were disappointed. One of the main complaints that I've been seeing is that they feel there was just way too much shown in the trailer. Some people don't think they should have revealed Doomsday, other people think Doomsday has a generic and boring character design. Then there are a lot of people who didn't seem to care for Jesse Eisenberg's version of Lex Luthor.

Regardless of the complaints, there was still a lot of cool stuff in the trailer, especially the visual imagery, and we even got to hear Ben Affleck do his Batman voice for the first time, which I liked! I personally enjoyed this latest trailer, and it actually got me a little bit more excited for the movie. I didn't really care for Man of Steel, but this looks like it could be a lot better. It's definitely got the spectacle aspect of things, I'm just waiting to see how this story actually plays out.

There may have been a few things that you missed in the trailer, and Mr. Sunday Movies has released a new video offering us six Easter eggs, references, and other things we may have missed. I also included a bunch of hi-res screenshots that you can check out below the video. Check it out!

Let us know what you liked and didn't like about this trailer in the comment section.

Frank Grillo Says Nothing Will Get in Crossbones' Way in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

0
0

We've been getting a lot of information about Captain America: Civil War since the first trailer was released. We've heard from a lot of the cast and crew, but one person we haven't heard from since the trailer was released is Frank Grillo, who plays Brock Rumlow a.k.a. Crossbones in the movie. He briefly discussed the character in an interview with The Huffington Post when he was asked about the character by a fan. He touched on his mental state and teased what we can expect from the character. As you might imagine, he's one pissed off dude:

“Well that’s a great question and obviously if you've seen The Winter Soldier, Brock Rumlow was in bad shape and that was because of Cap and he’s not happy. I tell you, coming back as Crossbones, his alter ego, he is not a happy guy and there’s nothing that is going to get in the way of him doing what hes setting out to do. Which I can not tell.”

He went on to say that Rumlow is "out for a good time" and that he's going to "have fun." He was later asked if there was a certain souvenir that he wish he could have kept from any of the film projects that he has worked on. This was his answer:

"I wish I could have kept part of that Crossbones costume because it may be the coolest thing that I've ever put on."

I'm excited to see Crossbones back in the MCU, and I'm interested to see how exactly his story arc plays out in it. I've heard rumors about what might happen. I hope it's not true, though. You can read about it here if you want. I just don't want to throw out a possible spoiler for those of you who are looking to stay clear.

There's no doubt that we'll get an epic fight sequence when Crossbones confronts Captain America again. To catch up on all of the recent news that has been released surrounding this movie, click here.

Supercut of Every Line Spoken By (Non-Leia) Women in The Original STAR WARS Trilogy

I guess women don't have a lot to say in the Star Wars universe? New York Magazine has released a video supercut of every line spoken by a woman in the original Star Wars trilogy, other than Princess Leia. Over the course of three movies, there are 63 seconds of total screen time for these other female characters. I've never really thought about it before, but that's pretty damn crazy!

Seth MacFarlane Hints at Another FAMILY GUY Movie

0
0

The first Family Guy movie, Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, went direct-to-DVD a little more than ten years ago, but it seems creator Seth MacFarlane is interested in making another movie centering on the Griffins. When a fan asked him when he was planning on creating another Family Guy movie, he responded:

I like to imagine MacFarlane responding in Stewie's voice, drumming his fingers together with an evil grin. Based on the tepid response to MacFarlane's last two films (A Million Ways to Die in the West and Ted 2), I can see him maybe being interested in devoting some time to a Family Guy feature.

I still watch that show every week — more out of habit than anything else. Almost every episode still provides me with a couple of laugh out loud moments, which is more than I can say for a lot of other comedies on TV right now. Would you be interested in paying to see a full-length Family Guy movie in theaters? Or would you just wait until it's inevitably broadcast on TV to catch up with it?

Mondo has a new art coming up called Snikt. Bamf. Thwip: A Celebration of Marvel Comics and we have some cool illustrations from it to share with you. Some of our favorite heroes will be reimagined by popular artists, including Tom WhalenMatt Taylor, Becky Cloonan, and Matthew Woodson

When talking about the upcoming exhibit, Mondo Creative Director Mitch Putnam had this to say:

It’s probably no surprise that the Marvel Comics universe holds a special place in every Mondoer’s heart. These characters inspired us, helped to shape who we are, and taught us life lessons that stuck with us forever (our own Eric Garza still pretty much thinks he’s Wolverine). We excitedly asked a handful of artists to create posters for some of our favorite comic storylines and characters. We can’t wait for you to see everything.

Here's some of the art that has been revealed for the show so far:

First Trailer For Drone Thriller EYE IN THE SKY

0
0

Here's the first trailer for Eye in the Sky, a new thriller about drone warfare that hails from Ender's Game and X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood. Hood hasn't really captured my attention as a director (I admittedly haven't seen all of his films), but at least he has a great cast in this movie, including Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, and Alan Rickman. It looks like Iain Glen (Game of Thrones' Ser Jorah) and Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) also make appearances here, too. This is the second major movie in recent memory to question the morality of drone strikes, following Ethan Hawke's Good Kill.

Eye in the Sky arrives in select theaters on March 11th, 2016.

EYE IN THE SKY stars Helen Mirren as Colonel Katherine Powell, a UK-based military officer in command of a top secret drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya. Through remote surveillance and on-the-ground intel, Powell discovers the targets are planning a suicide bombing and the mission escalates from "capture" to "kill." But as American pilot Steve Watts (Aaron Paul) is about to engage, a nine-year old girl enters the kill zone, triggering an international dispute reaching the highest levels of US and British government over the moral, political, and personal implications of modern warfare. Also starring Alan Rickman, Barkhad Abdi, Jeremy Northam, Iain Glen and Phoebe Fox, the film is directed by Gavin Hood (TSOTSI) and written by Guy Hibbert ("Prime Suspect"). Producers are Ged Doherty, Colin Firth and David Lancaster.

Watch Nick Offerman Drink Whisky in Silence By a Fireplace For 45 Minutes

0

Yes, this video is exactly what you think it is. Nick Offerman, whose Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson was a big fan of Lagavulin whisky, sits silently on a leather chair and sips a couple of glasses of it while a fire crackles in the background. There's something peaceful and almost profound about it — it's obviously an advertisement, but there's a real power in silence, and Offerman's stare pierces right into your soul. That's the beauty of this — they don't actually have to say a word, because the silence and sheer length of the video allows the viewer to reflect and come to his or her own conclusion about what they're doing with their time. Me? I'm going to go get a glass of scotch right now.

If you're wondering why I wrote about this, the reason is twofold. First, I'm a big fan of Offerman, found this genuinely amusing, and figured some of you might as well. And second, I wanted to give a shout-out to Offerman's current TV series, Fargo, the second season of which (airing now on FX) is one of the best things I've seen in TV in a good while. I highly recommend catching up with it if you haven't seen it yet. It's cinematic, mesmerizing stuff that stands toe to toe with the best shows in the current Golden Age of Television.

The video above is actually the second video Offerman has done for the company. Here's the first:

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR - New Photo and Intriguing Scene Description

0
0
captain-america-civil-war-new-photo-and-intriuging-scene-description

The Captain America: Civil War news continues to roll in! We've got a new photo featuring Tony Stark and Captain America having a serious heart to heart talk. The two will end up going their separate ways and they're going to beat the living shit out of each other. This falling out is all because the government wants control over superheroes, and this is something that Robert Downey Jr. talks about in an interview with EW. Here he explains that he agrees with Iron Man what the government is doing:

"It didn’t bother me at all. I’ve always thought of it in some ways that Tony is the antagonist to himself in his own story, so this isn’t a problem. This guy understands problems ‘cause he is a problem. And he tends to create problems. I’m not having to patter around what I think the worldview is. I wholeheartedly agree with what he does in this. Which is, by the way, more than I could say for some of the other movies."

The report then goes on to give us an interesting description of a scene from the film involving Cap, Falcon, T'Challa, Black Widow, and Tony Stark. It reads as follows:

An elevator opens in the op-center, and Steve Rogers and his friend Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, walk out – with a silent T’Challa (the public identity of Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther) walking in front of them alongside the government attaché played by Martin Freeman. Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow is with them, and she’s not saying anything either.
Something bad has gone down. Cap and Falcon were involved. It did not go well. They have handed over their vibranium shield and flying apparatus before being allowed access to this place. The pair look like they’re being sent to the principal’s office.
“You guys want to take a seat?” Widow says. “And try not to break anything while we fix this.”
Stark, who hasn’t yet had his beat-down, is on his cell phone with U.S. Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) as Cap and Falcon step into the nerve center of the intelligence office. “No, Romania was not sanctioned by the accords … Col. Rhodes is supervising clean-up … Yes, there will be consequences …” Stark looks irritated, tired. “Obviously, you can quote me on that. I just said it.”
He hangs up, and beholds his Avengers. “Consequences?” Cap says.
“Secretary Ross wanted you both prosecuted,” Iron Man answers. “I had to give him something.”
“I’m not getting that shield back, am I?” Cap says.
Black Widow walks ahead, joining Stark. “Technically it belongs to the government. Wings, too,” she says.
“That’s cold,” Falcon says.
Stark spins on his heel as the two walk away with T’Challa. He flashes a tight, unpleasant smile. “Warmer than jail!” he says.

As we've seen in the trailer, we all know that Cap and Falcon get their tools of battle back, but it doesn't sound like anyone is very happy with whatever has gone down prior to this scene. I imagine it has something to do with the fight against Crossbones which you can read about here if you are OK with possible spoilers. Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6th, 2016.

SISTERS Cast Parodies THE FORCE AWAKENS in New Featurette

0
0

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's new comedy Sisters opens on the same day as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so the cast of the film (including co-stars Maya Rudolph and Ike Barinholtz) poke fun at the galaxy far, far away in a new featurette that parodies the behind-the-scenes Star Wars featurette that was released during Comic-Con this year. There's all sorts of talk about practical effects, growing up with Sisters lunchboxes and toys, how they're getting back to the old ways of doing things — even the opening of the video with the clapboards mimics the style of the SDCC video. And there's a ridiculous cameo at the end, so be sure to watch it all the way through.

I'll have a report from the press conference as well as a review of the film for you in a couple of weeks, and the film opens in theaters on December 18th.

New Photos From The Set of LUKE CAGE with Misty Knight and Claire Temple

A new batch of photos from the New York City set of Marvel's Luke Cage have surfaced online. The include our first look at Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) in the series, along with Simone Missick (Misty Knight), and Frank Whaley (Detective Scarfe), as well as Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and of course, Mike Colter as Luke Cage.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Luke Cage played a large role in the incredible Jessica Jones series, which was released on Netflix last month. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to check it out. I really like this character, and I'm excited to see what his standalone story consists of. I will say that some of the photos do contain SPOILERS, so scroll through them at your own risk.

Dungeon Crawlers Radio: STAR WARS Speculation Part 2

Watch: Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Reaction to The Offer of Playing Negan on THE WALKING DEAD

0
0

The villainous Negan is coming to The Walking Dead, and those of you who have read the comics know that this dude isn't messing around. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in the role, and you can read all about the character right here if you're OK with being spoiled. Now that we know he's on the way, Morgan is going to start having to answer questions about the character, and he did just that at the Supernatural PasCon in Pasadena, California this week.

"Ya'll know about Negan? Me too. It's why I did it...
When my agent/manager called they said, ‘You’ve been offered this thing on The Walking Dead…it’s to play this big bad.’ At the time, they didn’t know the character’s name, because I think it was supposed to be a secret. And I’m like, ‘Is it f–king Negan?’ And they’re like, ‘I don’t know, we’re going to have to call you back, hold on a second.’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s f–king Negan. And I’m f–king doing it.’"

It sounds like he was already a fan of the comics before being cast, and he's excited to take on the challenge of playing such a terrible villain when he's spent the past few years playing characters who are mostly good guys. Check out the video of Morgan's full response, and then head down below for some more quick thoughts about the future of the show.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

TURN BACK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHO DIES IN THE COMICS

I've seen a lot of speculation out there that because of the way the show faked out the audience with Glenn's "death," he might not actually be the one to die by Negan's bat in the series' version of the story. Some are speculating that Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon may be the one to suffer that fate, and while fans may indeed riot if Daryl goes down, I think that might actually be an effective way to make up for trying to trick viewers with the whole Glenn thing. The show producers must know that the impact will be lessened a little if Glenn goes quickly next season because they've essentially already prepared the audience for that outcome with their fake death ploy, so they could regain the element of surprise by killing off a different beloved character.

What do you all think?
