Shia LaBeouf says there will be Real Sex in NYMPHOMANIAC

So Shia LaBeouf is willing to do whatever director Lars von Trier wants him to do in his next movie Nymphomaniac, and that apparently includes having real sex on the set of the film while shooting the movie. The actor expalins in a recent interview that he is ready and willing to go all the way.

The story follows the erotic adventures of a woman played by Charlotte Gainsbourg from her youth to age 50. Stellan Skarsgard and Nicole Kidman also star in the movie. This just sounds crazy to me, but I guess that's what we should come to expect from von Trier. The guy just makes jacked-up films.

Here’s what Labouf had to say about about the whole sex thing in the MTV interview,

It is what you think it is. There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says, ‘we’re doing it for real.’ And anything that is ‘illegal’ will be shot in blurred images. But other than that, everything is happening.

So my question is whats the point of "doing it for real" if it's shot in blurred images? That doesn't make any sense to me. If it's going to be blurred then it doesn't need to be done for real, right? Oh well, all I know is that LaBeouf is completely under the directors control, did von Trier brain wash him? Just watch the video interview below and see for yourself. The best part of the interview is his Lawless co-star Jessica Chastain's reaction to what LaBeouf says.

My question to all of you is... do you concider this type of thing to be pornography or art?

Catwoman is on the prowl thanks to Alex Kittle of Guiltycubicle Art. Here is the fantastic feline in various poses. You can check out more of her geeky work at her Etsy shop. I just watched SyFy's Collection Intervention, which is basically a geeky version of Hoarders. One of the segments was on a guy that collected only Catwoman stuff, so when I saw Alex's latest pieces I knew I had to share them.

I like the one with the claws out the best, which is your favorite?

James Gunn In Talks to Direct GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Marvel may have found it's director for Guardians of the Galaxy. THR is reporting that James Gunn (Slither, Super) is currently in talks to helm the superhero space saga. Studio execs have not ruled out other directors, but have reportedly begun talking exclusively with Gunn. Other directors in the mix include Peyton Reed (Bring It On, Yes Man), Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden

Marvel declined to comment, but is reportedly interested in Gunn because of his ability to blend comedy and horror with action. Super is a prime example of that sensibility. Galaxy is part of Marvel’s “Phase 2", and is the first original film. The film was officially announced at Comic-Con this year.

Marvel officially announced the movie at Comic-Con. Earlier this month. Chris McCoy has already been hired to rewrite Nicole Perlman's original draft. The comics have had numerous takes on the characters over the years, but the film will include "Drax the Destroyer, a human resurrected as a green warrior with the sole purpose of killing Thanos (the villain in the Avengers final-scene tease); Groot, a giant tree-man; Star-Lord, a gun-toting half-human/half-alien intergalactic vigilante; Rocket Raccoon, a genetically engineered animal with a knack for guns and explosives; and Gamora, the last survivor of her species who was saved by Thanos to be his assassin but now battles him."

The film's logline is as follows, “a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants." Sounds pretty damn cool to me. I can imagine Gunn doing a lot of wonderful things with this film. Add his cult following among fans, and Marvel has a similar situation on their hands to Joss Whedon and The Avengers

Are you excited about the possibility of Gunn directing Guardians of the Galaxy?

Steampunk Tom Sawyer-Huckleberry Finn TV Show Headed to ABC

Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are coming to the small screen in a new drama from ABC. THR reports that the network is developing Finn & Sawyer, a contemporary take on Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The show is the brainchild of Jason Richman and David Zabel (Detroit 1-8-7 and ER).

Finn & Sawyer is described as "an adventure-themed reinvention that revolves around the two famed literary characters who re-meet as young men in their 20s and form an investigative firm in a bustling and steampunk New Orleans." Richman and Zabel are set to write and executive produce the project from ABC Studios and Temple Hill Entertainment.

Mark Twain first published the novel in 1884, and has had numerous TV and film adaptations over the years. ABC adapted the the book into a TV movie in 1975 featuring Happy Days duo Ron Howard and Donny Most. Drew Barrymore starred in another TV movie from ABC in 1985.
I love the concept of seeing these characters in their 20's in a steampunk-styled environment. I am looking forward to seeing what ABC puts together for the sets on this one. Does this sounds like a show you would like to watch?

We've got a cool teaser trailer for you to check out for an indie horror film called Citadel. Written and directed by Ciaràn Foy, the Irish film premiered at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival, where it won the Midnighter Audience Award. The film stars Anuerin Barnard, James Cosmo, Wumni Mosaku, Jake Wilson, and Amy Shiels.

Here is the Synopsis:

Tommy Cowley (Aneurin Barnard) lives a quiet life in a decaying apartment complex with his highly pregnant wife. The couple is attacked one day by a group of hooded young thugs, and after a shocking act of violence, Tommy is left to raise his newborn daughter alone.

So shaken by the events that he's developed extreme agoraphobia, Tommy alternates days hiding out indoors in his new flat from imagined threats and intense therapy sessions aimed at bringing him back to normalcy.

When the same hooded gang, seemingly intent on kidnapping his daughter, begins terrorizing his life again, he's torn between his paralyzing fear and protective parental instinct. With the help of a vigilante priest who has uncovered the genesis of this ruthless, potentially supernatural gang, Tommy must overcome his fears and venture into the heart of the abandoned tower block known as the CITADEL to save his family.

Winner of the Midnighter Audience Award at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival, CITADEL brings a fresh take to classic horror by raising the question: How can you protect your family from evil when you're afraid of everything?

Check out the teaser and share your thoughts:

Citadel will have a limited theaterical release on October 26. I am interested in seeing the full trailer for this film, and already like what I am seeing so far. Even if I was afraid to leave my house, if someone kidnapped a family member I would do anything necessary to return them to safety. What would you do in a sitatuation like this?

Joe Carnahan to Direct Mark Millar's Supervillain Comic NEMESIS!

$

0

It's been a big news week for The Grey director Joe Carnahan. For a second there it looked like he would end up directing a new feature film version of Daredevil for Fox, but that fell through pretty quick. He may not be directing Daredevil, but it looks like he's jumped on board another cool comic book property to adapt for the big screen!

Kick-Ass comic creator Mark Millar has revealed on his forum that Carnahan is set to bring his supervillain comic Nemesis to life on the big screen. Back in 2010 Tony Scott was attached to direct the movie, but apparently over the last two years he fell away from the project. Carnahan wrote the script for Scott, so it makes sense that he's jumped on board as the films' director. Here's what Millar said...

Mighty Joe Carnahan is directing (from a script by he and his brother Matthew), but this much you already know. Fox wanted us to get in the same room for the first time and really hash this out, which was exciting. Joe has a really brilliant take on this and Matt and he are going to take things from here so I'm really happy. Absolutely no casting has been done formally although you can google the MTV interview from last January where he and Sir Liam Neeson are chatting about it. More news as it happens.

I love the story and concept of this comic, the idea behind it is... what if a Bruce Wayne/Batman character was the villain? The story follows Matt Anderson, a billionaire super-villain who is bent on avenging his criminal father by killing Washington DC Chief Inspector Blake Marrow. It's a twisted violent tale, that will make for a great flick!

As for Liam Neeson's name being dropped... that would be awesome! It's not new news, as his possible involvement was reported earlier this year. I'm not sure what role Neeson would play in the film, but he's a badass so whoever he ends up playing, if he ends up being cast would be fine with me!

I think Carnahan will do an awesome job adapting this comic into a feature film, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with! What do you think about Carnahan directing Nemesis?

Here's a little plot summary from the comic:

What if the smartest, toughest costumed bad ass in the world was totally evil? Meet Nemesis. He's systematically been destroying the lives of every police chief in Asia, and he's now set his sights on Washington, DC. Between you and me, the police don't have a chance.

Awful Trailer for Nicolas Cage's STOLEN

Here's a the first trailer to Nicolas Cage's terrible looking movie, Stolen. What's crazy is this movie actually has a decent director and cast, unfortunately the movie looks like a piece of crap to me. The movie was directed by Simon West (Con Air, Tomb Raider), and also stars Josh Lucas, Malin Akerman and Danny Huston

When I see a movie like this, it makes me wonder if any of investors or studio executives actually read the script before they greenlit it. I Imagine the pitch meeting went something like this.... "It's like the movie Taken only it's not!" It seems like a direct to DVD knock-off movie, especially with that title... Stolen.

Here's the Synopsis:

Will Montgomery is a master thief who after being double-crossed in a heist gone awry is sent to prison for 8 years. Upon his release he's ready to leave his criminal past behind and try to rebuild a relationship with his estranged daughter Allison. The FBI and his old cohorts believe that he hid the loot from the last heist eight years ago, $10 million in bonds. To get his hands on it, his old partner Vincent kidnaps Allison and demands the entire $10 million as ransom. Keeping her in the soundproofed trunk of a taxi cab, he's able to stay mobile amongst the throngs of taxis out during Mardi Gras, making it nearly impossible to find. Montgomery only has one day to get the $10 million ransom, but much to the disbelief of the FBI on his trail and Vincent, Will doesn't actually have it. Instead, he must trust his instincts and his old partner in crime, the beautiful, sexy and smart Riley, to do one more clever heist to get his daughter back alive before it's too late.

The movie hits theaters on September 14th, and you can watch the trailer below... or don't watch the trailer, it's just a Nic cage movie.

Watch 163 Horror Movies in 2 1/2 Minutes

Here's a great video supercut featuring 163 horror movies in 2 1/2 minutes. It was created by YouTuber . I'm a big fan of the horror movie genre, and I enjoyed how this video was edited together. I hope you do as well.

Here's a note from the creator:

So...there's 163 different horror movies in this video. Repeat appearances I do not count separately. To clarify/confuse, all Nightmare on Elm Street clips count as 1, as do all Friday the 13th clips (totaling out to 2/163 films). However, I did count Freddy Vs. Jason as one tally, making it 3/163 films, but did not reward a +1 for the Nightmare On Elm Street remake. So if you think that's bull sh*t and it should not count, then consider this 162 Horror Movies in 2 1/2 minutes. Also, you may count upwards of 190 different movies...if you do, that means you went through this frame by frame and need to go outside more. The other 28 films, I do not count because they consist of 2 or less frames. I am only counting the films that appear for 3 frames or more.

Check out the video and let us know what one of you favorite horro movies of all time is!

FROM A TO ZZZZ - My Favorite Looney Tunes Cartoon

From A to Z-Z-Z-Z is my favorite Looney Tunes cartoon that was made. The hilarious animated short was created by Chuck Jones in 1953 and released by Warner Bros. in 1954. The cartoon received an Academy Award for Animated Short Film nomination.

The story features a character named Ralph Phillips, and it's the only cartoon he ever appeared in, which is a shame because he was such a great character! Basically Phillips is stuck in school and he's bored out of his mind, so he starts to have these exciting day dreams to liven things up a bit.

I think the reason I like this so much is that it reminds me of myself. This is the best quality of video I could find on YouTube, but it it doesn't make the content anymore less awesome. Enjoy the show!

JAWS Is a Must-Watch on Blu-ray - Review

$
0
0

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water, Jaws has arrived on Blu-ray for the first time. This is one of those releases that had me excited from when it was first announced. Jaws is such a classic film for so many reasons. It is the first "event" summer blockbuster movies, and is the film that solidified Steven Spielberg as the amazing director that he is. The film has a great eclectic cast, which includes Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary, Murray Hamilton, and Carl Gottlieb

The story follows new police chief Martin Brody (Scheider) during what is supposed to be a relaxing summer on Amity's beach with plenty of sand and sun. Things change abruptly when a young woman's mangled body washes ashore. When Amity's medical examiner announces that the girl was killed by a shark, chief Brody jumps into action and gets the ball rolling to close down the beaches. Amity's Mayor Vaughan (Hamilton) stops Brody from shutting down the beaches in order to protect the town business owners who depend on the summer visitors. An idyllic summer once again commences until another shark attack occurs, and the frenzy ensues.

Aside from some fantastic performances by Dreyfuss, Shaw, Scheider, and Hamilton, this film has amazing set pieces. This is one movie that does deserve to be seen on as big-of-a screen as you can. Spielberg's tracking shots, and shots partially under the water coupled with John Williams' score add to the intensity of the thrills in this movie. For lack of green screen and relatively no visual effects this movie takes a bit out of the soul of moviegoers, and is enough to make people afraid of the water.

Jaws is a one Blu-ray release that I consider to be a must-own for fans. Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment oversaw the restoration process for this Blu-ray release, and it looks simply unbelievable. The red of the blood and the blue of the ocean water literally jump off of the screen on my home theater.

Too often studios release a Blu-ray with so few special features, but Jaws is the exact opposite. The disc has hours of extra features full of facts about the production, which is more you can digest in one viewing. Let's put it this way, the movie itself seems to have a shorter running time than the special features.

Here is a breakdown of the Special Features:

  • The Shark is Still Working: The Impact and Legacy of Jaws (SD; 1:41:21). It may be listed as an "all new" feature length documentary, but was actually shot in  2007. I love the in-depth discussions with cast and crew about the film. This is truly a must-watch.
  • Jaws: The Restoration (HD; 8:28) This is an in-depth look at Jaws' restoration, and has interviews with Universal executives, technicians, and Steven Spielberg.
  • The Making of Jaws (SD; 2:02:48) This is the longest documentary on the making on the film, and goes very deep into how the film was made. The vintage piece shows the moving pieces of the shark, as well as how the film was put together.
  • From the Set (SD; 8:56) a featurette shot in 1974 featuring a very young Steven Spielberg.
  • Deleted Scenes and Outtakes (SD; 13:33)
  • Jaws Archives
  • Original Theatrical Trailer (SD; 3:15)
  • UV and DVD Copies
  • Pocket BLU App
  • D-Box and BD Live Enabled

Jaws is a must-own for fans, and looks fantastic on Blu-ray. If you are looking for something to watch today on Blu-ray, then this is the best choice I can think of.

Samuel L. Jackson joins OLDBOY Remake

Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers, upcoming Django Unchained) has joined Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy. The English-language remake of Chan-wook Park's cult classic is set to star Josh Brolin in the lead role.  Jackson will play a small, but critical part in the new film, Although it is not confirmed, rumor has it that he will be playing the role of the man who guards Brolin's character. If you recall from the original, his character starred in a memorable revenge scene.  Old Boy starts shooting this fall in Louisiana and New York.

The LA Times also reports that Bruce Hornsby.is set to compose the score for the film. Hornsby has worked with Lee on his basketball documentary Kobe Doin' Work and Red Hook Summer. The composer had this to say about his ideas for the score, by saying "I'm working on a few things and I'll send them to Spike soon," he said. "The 'D' word has been spoken to me by him," the musician added, referring to a dark tone. "But I think the score will also run the gamut."

Do you think Jackson is a good addition to the cast? Do you feel that Oldboy should be remade at all?

GeekStarter - HAUNTED - A Cool Found Footage Film

$

Here is a new feature that I thought up to feature geeky Kickstarter projects called GeekStarter. Horror movies and genre films are very important to GeekTyrant, as you may know we also have TerrorTrant. Haunted is a unique found footage thriller presented in a quad-screen, real-time format. It is pretty damn cool, and deserves your support!

Official Synopsis:

Andrew, a film student at the University of Michigan, is tagging along with a team of paranormal investigators to document their process for a school project. At first things go according to plan, but as the night progresses, things begin to spiral out of control. As the night progresses, it becomes clear that something in the house doesn't want them there. Taking a unique approach to the concept of "found footage" HAUNTED is presented in a quad-screen/real-time format, showing the audience everything that is occurring inside the house all at once.

Check out a promo trailer for the movie:

Here is a note about the trailer from the director:

The promo trailer you see above doesn't include any footage from the film. Shot on a budget of literally $0, it is designed to give you an idea of how the film will look on the big screen. A few have commented on it, stating that the "doors opening and closing" has been done to death, but rest assured, this is only a SMALL part of the overall film. Unlike many that choose to use it as a simple scare device, we use it as a means to explain why things are happening in the house, and why the malevolent spirit does what he does.

Badass Red-Band Trailer for LAWLESS with Tom Hardy

An incredible red-band trailer has been released for John Hillcoat's highly anticipated 1920's bootlegging film Lawless. The trailer features a ton of great new footage to check out, some of which is obviously not safe for work. Tom Hardy looks awesomely intense in this, and I think it might just be Shia LaBeouf's best performance yet.

I'm very excited about this movie, I love the story, the setting and the actors involved. It also stars Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, and Mia Wasikowska. Lawless is set to hit theaters on August 31st, 2012. Check out the new red-band trailer and let us know what you think about this movie! Were you familiar with the true story that it's based on before you knew about the movie?

Here's the synopsis:

Gangster meets Western in the true story of the freewheelin' Bondurants brothers, bootlegging siblings taking the law into their own hands. This is the story of the rural hard-men that created the big city gangsters. Brazen and fearless, these young rebel brothers helped build the American Dream in this exuberant tale of what was to become crime's first major gold rush.

The youngest brother, Jack, fancies himself the next Al Capone; he dreams of sharp suits, guns, girls and fast cars, no matter the cost. Ambitious and impulsive, he takes the family's small-scale moonshining operation to the big leagues, to impress the gorgeous but off-limits Amish girl, Bertha. The middle brother, Howard, is the brawling muscle – loyal but reckless – never one to turn down a taste of white lightning. And eldest brother, Forrest, reluctantly accepts the changing times with grace and grit, leading the family with strength of character and silent determination against the beginnings of corporate greed. An enigmatic and stunning Maggie comes to town with a hidden past, igniting his passion and almost saving him in the process. As the Bondurants' legend grows, so too does the danger, and it's not long before the brothers must face the consequences of their transgressions, or rewrite the myth and the law themselves.

Disney Remaking THE ROCKETEER

Ah, come on! Really? According to a recent report Disney plans on rebooting Joe Johnston's awesome 1991 classic The Rocketeer. Hell! I just got the Blu-ray version of the film not too long ago. I loved The Rocketeer, and it's sad that Disney has decided to do it all over again. At least the original will always be there for us fans to enjoy.

I just think it would benefit Disney to actually try and develop some original material. But they're obviously looking for some sure fire ways to make easy money, and remaking other films is a way of minimizing risk, because people are already familiar with it. The Rocketeer wasn't a very successful movie when it came out, but over the years it's gained a pretty big following. I always have to remind myself that the accountants run Hollywood, not the creative people. It all comes down to making money.

According to Vulture the studio will start meeting with various writers soon to come up with a new take on the movie. Personally I think it would be cool if they made a sequel to the movie instead. Why the hell not? I'm curious to see how this plays out. It's still in the very early stages, so who knows if anything will ever come of it. If they do move forward with it, their challenge will be to make it better than the original. If they don't out do the original, then who cares?

The story is set in the 1930's, and follows a young pilot who stumbles onto a prototype jetpack developed by Howard Hughes that allows him to become a high flying masked hero. Of course the Nazi's want it for themselves to help them take over the world.

I'm torn, by this news. I want to be excited about it, but I'm just not. Maybe the idea just needs to grow on me? What do you think about Disney wanting to remake The Rocketeer?
