THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Casts Ralph Fiennes as Alfred

0
0

Talk about perfect casting: THR reports that Ralph Fiennes has been added to the cast of The LEGO Batman Movie as The Dark Knight's trusty butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

Will Arnett is returning to reprise his role as the overconfident and hilarious Batman from 2014's The LEGO Movie, and he's joined by Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker. Chris McKay (Robot Chicken, The LEGO Movie) will direct from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Fiennes is a wonderful addition to this cast, and considering his history in The Grand Budapest Hotel, he already has some experience playing characters in the service industry. But he also played a deranged crime boss (In Bruges) and an evil wizard (Harry Potter), so he should be able to imbue this Alfred with a convincing bit of ass-kickery if the script calls for it. Fiennes will next be seen in theaters later this week; he plays M in the newest James Bond movie, Spectre. The LEGO Batman Movie arrives in theaters on February 10th, 2017.

Watch: 6 Movies That Reused Footage From Other Films

You're probably aware that Michael Bay reused footage from his 2005 movie The Island when he was making 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon. (We wrote about that a few years ago.) But ScreenRant has put together a video that shows five other instances of movies that ripped off footage from other films and tried to pass it off as their own.

How many of these did you know about going in? I never would have thought Blade Runner would have taken anything from The Shining (only one "n" in "Shining," guys), and I can't believe I never noticed that Star Trek explosion.

Sean Bean Knows He Dies a Lot On Screen, Thinks Memes Will Be His "Unintended Legacy"

Actor Sean Bean has over 100 film and television credits to his name and has been steadily working in the entertainment industry for the past thirty years. Over the course of the past five or six years, though, it's become obvious that he's died in a lot of those projects, and he's well aware of that: he's watched the YouTube supercuts just like the rest of us. In an interview with Radio Times, Bean mentioned that trend as well as seeing the memes that have his face plastered all over the internet:

“I have died quite a few times to be fair,” the star says in this week’s Radio Times, admitting to having watched montages of his characters’ deaths on YouTube. “I’ve seen that reel of clips – it sounds a bit macabre, but I watched that back, and I’d forgotten some of the scenes I’d died in.”

“For some reason, the parts I play, like Boromir or Ned Stark, have a life online long afterwards. I keep seeing, what do you call them – memes? ‘One does not simply ask for a drink’ instead of ‘One does not simply walk into Mordor’ – that sort of thing,” he says, adding: “They’ll probably be my unintended legacy.”

On one hand, being remembered because of a bunch of goofy memes sounds kind of sad, especially for a guy who has had such a solid career. But on the other hand...at least he's going to be remembered, right? There are plenty of actors who go through their whole careers without being memorable or making a lasting impact on audiences, and even though the internet has co-opted Bean's legacy with memes, he's definitely left his mark.

Watch Jimmy Kimmel's Halloween Prank: 2015 Edition

For the past few years, television host Jimmy Kimmel has asked parents to film their kids’ reactions when they find out that all of their Halloween candy has been "eaten" by their own parents. True, parents can be mean, but the reactions of the children in the video below are, perhaps, the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in my entire day.

There you go. Click on the link to watch the results of the 5th annual I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy challenge. Enjoy and try not to laugh too loud.

STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT Battle of Jakku Trailer

Fox Considered An X-FILES Spin-Off For Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose

0

Here's an interesting bit of trivia for fans of The X-Files: TVLine reports that the upcoming revival series was, at one point, being discussed as being a backdoor pilot to introduce a spin-off series that follow Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose's characters. Those talks haven't materialized into anything official at this point, but the outlet seems to imply that the possibility is out there for this to eventually happen, should it be something creator Chris Carter and Fox are interested in exploring further.

Carter says Amell and Ambrose's contracts don't include anything beyond the six-episode revival, but when he was asked if the thought of a spin-off ever crossed his mind, he dodged the question and replied, "Right now I’m focused on doing the show with David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson].” Interesting...

So again, nothing official has been announced and this may not end up happening at all, but it should at least provide an added layer of interest for fans as they watch the show when it returns on January 24th, 2016. Keep a close eye on Amell and Ambrose in the show: there's a slight chance you might be seeing them again.

Honest Trailer For STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Screen Junkies has released an Honest Trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It's kind of hard to do one of these honest trailers since the movie hasn't even been released yet, so this video has a different format and feel to it than the other Honest Trailers we're used to seeing. It takes some humorous jabs at the fans of the franchise, George Lucas, and the prequel films.

The Force is awakening soon – and we have an honest look at the trailer for the movie that everyone’s already going to see anyway.

It's definitely not the best Honest Trailer that Screen Junkies has made, but it's still entertaining.

Duncan Jones’ MUTE Is Finally Getting Made! Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard Will Star in It

It looks like director Duncan Jones (Warcraft, Source Code, Moon) is finally moving forward on hit long-awaited passion project, Mute. He even got Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) to star in the film. How cool is that!

Mute is an original film that was written by Jones and Mike Johnson, and here’s an official story summary that has been released:

Berlin. Forty years from today. A roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West in a science-fiction Casablanca. Leo Beiler (Skarsgard), a mute bartender has one reason and one reason only for living here, and she’s disappeared. But when Leo’s search takes him deeper into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd) seem to be the only recurring clue, and Leo can’t tell if they can help, or who he should fear most.

Jones had this to say in a statement:

“I’ve been working towards making MUTE for 12 years now. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that we’re finally going to shoot this utterly unique film. The fact that I get to make it with Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd makes it all the more exciting! MUTE is a film that will last. It is unlike any other science fiction being made today.”

I love that he was able to get Rudd and Skarsgard on board. They are two incredibly talented actors, and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed the projects that they’ve been a part of. Mute seems like an awesome project for them!

Lotus Entertainment’s Jim Seibel had this to say in a statement:

“We’re very excited to work with Duncan and Stuart. They are an immensely talented team that will surely deliver an exciting and cinematic film. Director Duncan Jones is a true visionary filmmaker and the real deal. It’s his caliber of talent that makes storytelling both visually exciting and captivating.”

Producer Stuart Fenegan added:

“Bill, Jim and Ara share the same passion I do for building another vision of the future with Duncan. I look forward to going on this journey with them, and also reuniting with Sam Rockwell and composer Clint Mansell… can’t do sci-fi without Sam and Clint!”

I’ve been hoping that Jones would be able to make this project that he’s been trying to get off the ground after all these years. It’s awesome that everything has finally fallen into place. I can’t wait to see it!

Badass Red-Band Trailer for Michael Bay’s 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI

badass-red-band-trailer-for-michael-bays-13-hours-the-secret-soldiers

“When everything went wrong, six men had the courage to do what was right.”

It’s always nice when Michael Bay makes a movie that has nothing to do with Transformers these days. Paramount Pictures has released two new trailers for his true-life action thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, and it sure does look like a badass and intense movie. One of those trailers has a red-band label. It’s not every day I can say I’m excited to see a Michael Bay movie, but today is that day.

The script was written by Chuck Hogan (The Strain), and it’s based on the true story of the attack on the U.S. Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA Annex in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11th, 2012. It centers on six members of a security team who valiantly fought to defend the many Americans stationed on the compound.

The movie stars John Krasinski, James Badge Dale, Pablo Schreiber, and David Denman. It’s set to be released January 15th, 2016.

Watch a Video of Deadpool Hilariously Joining Forces With X-Men Kids on Halloween

"How many of you have taken a human life?"

That's what Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool asked a bunch of kids dressed up as X-Men on Halloween night. The actor alreadyy shared a photo of himself with these kids, but he's now released a video that shows the hysterical story behind that photo. In the video, you get to see what Deadpool is like while hanging out with a bunch of children and trying to get them to join forces and become a team, and it amazingly funny. That screenshot of him shaking kid Beast had me busting up laughing. The look on the kid's face is priceless. Oh, and in case you're wondering... No, Deadpool doesn't filter himself for the kiddies. It looks like Reynolds had a blast doing this.

The video came with the following caption:

A Deadpool documentary: the behind the scenes video of the making of a photo you may or may not have seen.

Marvel's Netflix Plans for IRON FIST and THE PUNISHER Might Be Changing

0
0

There are some rumors flying around online regarding Marvel’s Iron Fist. The rumor originated at a site called Peel The Orange, and at first they reported that the series Iron Fist will be canceled and replaced with a Punisher series. The Punisher is such a popular character that it makes complete sense for Marvel to push that series into development if it works within the universe. The following information came from an inside source:

“Marvel can’t quite seem to figure out how to put Iron Fist into the equation and time is running out. They’re very pleased with Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle for Season 2 of Daredevil and know that the fans have a great appreciation for the character. They also know that a Punisher series would be much cheaper and more marketable. They have a contract with Netflix and have to do something. It appears that for this phase of shows, time is running thin for Iron Fist.”

Not long after that was reported, the site got an update saying that the studio is now actually looking at turning Iron Fist into a Netflix original movie. This is what their source said about that:

“Marvel will be turning Iron Fist into a Netflix exclusive feature film. This will give Marvel extra time and a larger budget for this project. The Punisher will replace Iron Fist as one of the four Defenders.”

This seems like a good route to go. Yeah, it kinda sucks that Iron Fist might end up being pushed out of The Defenders, but I guess fans won’t really mind if Frank Castle is kicking ass in it. At least they haven’t completely given up on Iron Fist! I'm sure they'll figure out what they want to do with the character.

First Photo of Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander in FANTASTIC BEASTS

It’s an exciting time for Harry Potter fans because 2016 brings us a new play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which continues the story of Potter and his family, and the feature film spin-off Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them. Today we have the official logo for the film to share with you along with the first image of Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) as Newt Scamander, “the wizarding world’s preeminent magizoologist, who stops in New York following his travels to find and document magical creatures."

The story for this film takes place 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter story. It's set in New York City and is loosely based on a book that J.K. Rowling wrote for charity. The book is a reproduction of a textbook owned by Harry Potter that was mentioned in the first Potter novel. The fictional textbook was written by a Newt Scamander.

The film also stars Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) as Tina; Alison Sudol (Dig, Transparent) as Tina’s sister, Queenie; Dan Fogler as Jacob; Ezra Miller (Trainwreck) as Credence; Samantha Morton (In America) as Mary Lou; Jenn Murray (Brooklyn) as Chastity; young newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove as Modesty; and Colin Farrell (True Detective) as Graves.

David Yates is directing the film from a script written by Rowling. The film will be released on November 18th, 2016.

STAR TREK and STAR WARS Trailer Mashup - TREK WARS: THE DARKNESS AWAKENS

0
0

I’ve been a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek for as long as I can remember. Instead of debating over which one is better, because that has been done to death, let’s celebrate both sci-fi/fantasy franchises with this awesome mashup created by Zenlike Productions. The video is called Trek Wars: The Darkness Awakens, and it came with the following description:

Two fan-favorite universes collide when the crew of the USS Enterprise joins forces with a new Rebel Alliance to stop a sinister force that seeks to throw the galaxy into chaos.

Seeing as J.J. Abrams directed both of these films, they mesh together really well. Thanks to the creator for sending this in to us. I hope you all enjoy it!

THE CROW Remake Is Moving Forward with Director Corin Hardy

Those of you hoping that this reboot of The Crow would just die already are out of luck. According to The Wrap, the film is officially moving forward with director Corin Hardy, who just signed a deal to develop it. Last month it was rumored that Hardy was walking away from the project because of Relativity Media bankruptcy. It looks like they managed to work some things out and keep him around.

Hardy is a talented young director who helmed an awesome horror movie called The Hallow. I really liked what he did with that movie, and it makes me curious to see what he will do with The Crow, especially with creator James O'Barr working with him on developing the project.

There’s no star currently attached to play Eric Draven in the film. Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston was the last actor attached to it, but he dropped out earlier this year. I think he was a solid choice to play Draven. It's a shame it didn't work out.

The studio is looking to get production on the film rolling in March. The movie is said to be a direct adaptation of the comic series, and it's been made clear that it will stay true to the comics and will not be a remake of the Alex Proyas-directed film. You can read about O'Barr's vision of the film here.

First Glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch as DOCTOR STRANGE on Nepal Set

0

Director Scott Derrickson is currently in Nepal shooting Marvel's Doctor Strange, and thanks to Twitter user @Technicalyrightwe have our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange.

It's not the greatest photo, but as a long time fan of Doctor Strange, who has been eagerly waiting for this movie to finally happen, this is really exciting for me! I imagine some of you out there are just as excited, and this photo is for all you fans.

Before he became the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was an unlikable and egotistical neurosurgeon. His whole life changes for him when he gets in a car accident that damages his hands. This leads him to embark on an insane journey for a miracle cure. It's this adventure that leads him to become a powerful sorcerer. The story will introduce the magical and mystical realms to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange also stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen. The movie is set for release exactly one year from today... November 4th, 2016.

There's a New BATMAN V SUPERMAN Plot Synopsis with Possible New Info

0
0

A new plot synopsis for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been making the rounds on the internet. It originated at the British movie theater chain Odeon, and it offers some possible new details that weren't in the first synopsis that was released:

At long last, see Batman and Superman square off against each other in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, an epic superhero showdown which will change both their lives forever.

Clark Kent doesn't trust Gotham's mysterious masked vigilante. Bruce Wayne doesn't trust the alien who nearly destroyed Metropolis. And Lex Luthor, who hates Superman more than anyone, is manipulating both of them for his own twisted ends.

Choose your side: the Man of Steel or the Dark Knight? Learn the answer to the age-old question - who would win? - in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

There's no information on whether this was sent to Odeon by Warner Bros. or if it's just something that they made up themselves. The fact that it's an official description placed on a major movie theater website says something, though. For comparison sake, here's the original synopsis that was released:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 26th, 2016.

1973-Set Horror Short GHOST TOUR Follows a Man's First Real Paranormal Experience

0
0

Halloween may be over, but that doesn’t mean the horror films stop from rolling in! I’ve got another fantastic short for you to watch today called Ghost Tour. It’s simple story set in the year 1973, and “after the final ghost tour at a museum with a legendary dark past, veteran docent Richard Sawyer experiences his first real encounter with the paranormal.”

Ghost Story was directed by Erik Bloomquist and even though the story is simple, the cinematography is beautiful, especially in the old historic house setting. The film was shot at The Mark Twain House and Museum in Connecticut.

I appreciate that this horror short doesn’t rely on blood and gore to get the creepy factor. That creepiness is earned through good use of mystery and suspense in its storytelling. Everything falls into place as the story is told and it concludes with a great twist ending.

If you're a fan of good old-school horror, I think you’ll enjoy this film.

Liam Neeson Will Play Deep Throat in Historical Spy Thriller FELT

0
0

Not to be confused with this movie, Parkland director Peter Landesman is writing and directing a historical spy thriller called Felt, and we were just sent a press release which announced Liam Neeson as its star. Here's the synopsis:

FELT is a taut spy thriller, centering on “Deep Throat”, the pseudonym given to the notorious whistleblower for one of the greatest scandals of all time, Watergate. The true identity of the secret informant remained a mystery and source of much public curiosity and speculation for more than 30 years. That is until, in 2005, special agent Mark Felt (Neeson) shockingly revealed himself as the tipster. This unbelievable true story chronicles the personal and professional life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who risked and ultimately sacrificed everything – his family, his career, his freedom – in the name of justice.

We've seen some of this story unfold on film before (notably in All The President's Men), but it should be interesting to see if Landesman — who apparently has a thing for telling true stories with Parkland and the upcoming Will Smith movie Concussion on his resume — will be able to do it justice from Felt's perspective. The list of producers on this movie includes Ridley Scott, Tom Hanks, and Jay Roach (among others), so there's definitely some talent behind the scenes that should hopefully be able to guide this movie to becoming the best it can be.

Filming begins this coming March, and we'll keep you posted with more info as it becomes available.
