Dan Aykroyd is the latest actor to join the cast of the political comedy Dog Fight. According to Moviehole Aykroyd is set to join Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, who star as “two rival politicians running for a congressional seat in a small North Carolina district election.”

The film is being directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Fockers) based on a script by Chris Henchy and Shawn Harwell. The film also stars John Lithgow, Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Sarah Baker, and Katherine LaNasa. 

I think that Aykroyd will make a great addition to the cast. Although it's been awhile since I've seen him in a movie I actually liked. In recent years the main thing he's been talking about is this Ghostbusters 3 film that seems like it will never happen. What are your thoughts?

The Dark Knight Rises has already started breaking records. The first full trailer for the movie was released on December 19th on iTunes, and within 24 hours it was downloaded and watched more 12.5 million times! The previous record was held by The Avengers which was released in October. These are both two huge epic films, and I'm excited about both of them.

The question I have for you is which movie are you more excited for more? Dark Knight Rises or The Avengers?

Peter Jackson has released a fifth production blog for The Hobbit films that he is currently shooting. The new video blog once again gives us a fun and candid look at the behind the scenes production for this epic film, and focuses on the logistics of location shooting. I really enjoy watching these behind the scenes videos to see how everything for this film is coming together. I absolutely loved the trailer that was released recently, and my excitement level is through the roof!

I've been loving the newest AMC series Hell on Wheels, and I'm happy to announce that AMC has picked up the series for a second season! I'm excited that we will get to see the show continue. Have you been watching this series? If so are you looking forward to seeing a new season?

The series tells the epic story of post-Civil War America, focusing on a Confederate soldier who sets out to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who have killed his wife. His journey takes him west to Hell on Wheels, a dangerous, raucous, lawless melting pot of a town that travels with and services the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, an engineering feat unprecedented for its time. The series examines the railroad's institutionalized greed and corruption, the immigrant experience, and the plight of the newly emancipated African-Americans during reconstruction. Deadline has a breakdown of the shows stats saying that it "debuted with 4.4 million viewers, ranking as AMC’s second-highest-rated series premiere behind mega-hit The Walking Dead in total viewers as well as adults 18-49 and 25-54. Hell On Wheels has slipped since but consistently delivers more than 2 million viewers in first-run broadcasts, most recently 2.3 million last week. The series has aired 7 episodes of its freshman series to date, with Episode 8 slated for Jan. 1."

Warner Bros. has released a bunch great high resolution images from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. We've seen many of these images already but not in this high resolution glory. There's a lot of great little details that you can pick out in these images.

Like the rest of you I'm extremely excited to see this movie! I thought the 6-Minute prologue was epic, regardless of Bane's voice issues. The trailer that was released was amazing, and there was a pretty cool little Easter egg that was discovered revolving around Selina Kyle’s necklace. 

The movie is set to hit theaters on on July 20th, 2012.

Walt Disney Pictures' has released a new Japanese international trailer for John Carter. I'm really hoping this movie ends up being good. It's its such a great story, and it has the potential to be an awesome film. The question is... did the filmmakers pull it off? The movie should work, after all it has all the makings of an entertaining superhero style sci-fi film. It all comes down to how solid of an adaptation it is and if its fans will be happy it. This latest trailer shows us a little background on John Carter and how he actually ended up on Mars.

The film was directed by Pixar director Andrew Stanton, and stars Taylor Kitsch, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Ciarán Hinds, Daryl Sabara,Willem Dafoe, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Lynn Collins, and Polly Walker. The film will be released on March 9th, 2012. Here's our first look at Steven Soderbergh's male stripper film Magic Mike, which gives us our first look at Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello, and a shirtless Matthew McConaughey as male strippers. 

As much as I love the films that Soderbergh makes, as of right now I have no interest at all in seeing this movie. The trailer will have to sell me on it, as this movie looks like it will be more targeted to the ladies. 

The script was written by Reid Carolin and was inspired by real-life story of Tatum's early career as a male stripper. Tatum plays the title character, "who schools a young dancer (Pettyfer) in how to hustle on and off the stage. It's a wild summer of dancing, partying, and women. The inspiration was Channing's own experiences as a stripper when he was 19." McConaughey plays Dallas, a former stripper who owns the club where the two perform. Tatum and Nick Wechsler are producing with Gregory Jacobs and Carolin.

The film also stars Matt Bomer, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, and Cody Horn and is set to hit theaters on June 29th, 2012.

Warner Bros. has released the first official photo from Ben Affleck's Argo online. The story is based on real-life Iran hostage event and also stars Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, Kerry Bishe, and Kyle Chandler.

Here is the synopsis:

Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis–the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

I loved Affleck's direction on The Town and Gone Baby Gone and am looking forward to seeing this movie on the big screen. The ensemble cast is terrific and will do wonderfully bringing the story to life with tons of high-tension.

Today's awesome Geek Art comes from CGHUB artist sakimichan, and the piece features a portrait of the character San from the incredible anime film Princess Mononoke. 

Here's an awesomely fun collection of LEGO set concepts for classic movies such as Back to the Future, Blade Runner, and Ghostbusters. These are all fan created sets that were made to help sell LEGO on the idea of actually making these sets available for purchase. 

These set concepts were uploaded to a site called Cuusoo which is basically like Kickstarter but for LEGO's. The site allows its fan community to vote on which ideas they like best. Once a LEGO concept reaches 10,000 votes, LEGO will officially consider buying the concept. If bought LEGO reserves the right not to create it. If they do decide to create it, the person who created the concept gets 1% of all product sales. As of right now only two ideas have been used, both in Japan.

These are some ferocious looking replicas. The team at Kropserkel designed these amazing Nazgul suits of armor for Ringwraiths. I wonder how heavy this is to walk around in. One thing I do know is that I would not like to run into one of these in a dark alley.

IFC Midnight is set to release The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 14th, 2012. Those in relationships will know that the 14th is none other than Valentine's day, which is a perfect day to release one of th years most controversial films.

In the film, Martin is a mentally disturbed loner who lives with his mother in a bleak housing project. He works the night shift as a security guard in an equally grim and foreboding underground parking complex. I like the idea of an updated take on the Munsters much more than I do The Three Stooges remake from the Farrelly Brothers. One of the main reasons I am interested in it is because of Bryan Singer's involvement. 

Our friends over at Movie Hole (via Latino Review) have a new update on the series that is planned as a "dark dramedy" centering on the troubling adolescence of Eddie Munster.

Here is how the pilot starts, which deals with Eddie having trouble adapting to being a werewolf:

'It’s a scout camp, and the scout master has just rounded up the scouts in an effort to find out who has eaten all the boxes of food. While the token fat kid is being eyeballed, a ravaging wolf is about to crash the party…

…. next morning, a young boy wakes up naked in the woods.'

This causes the Munsters to move to Mocking Bird Heights for a fresh start. Until I see a trailer and images I am holding out to make my final decision on the show. What are your thoughts on this series? Are you looking forward to watching it?

- Britta as Batwoman (May be shortsighted of me... but felt it was appropriate with Britta's brief dabbling in the lesbian world)
- Jeff as Harvey Dent (Kind of boring, I know... however, I plan on a second Bat Villain piece, so it should play out well then)
- Chang as Robin (Originally he was going to be Commisioner Gordon since he's a figure of authority now... but visually I dont feel that would of been all that funny. His hair, though, made him perfect for the 60's TV version of Robin)
- Annie as Batgirl (I like this since she makes up a roommate triumvirate with Abed and Troy now... parallels Bruce/Dick/Barbara from the 60s)
- Abed as Batman (Duh)
- Troy as Nightwing (I completely refused to make Troy Robin... even though it probably would of made sense. But I felt since Donald Glover has been raised to Spider-Man caliber, he deserved to be someone bad-ass)
- Pierce as Alfred (If there was ever a Batman parody I would have no problem with Chevy Chase filling in Michael Caine's role)
- Shirley and Dean Pelton as Catwoman (Really wanted to do Yvette Brown as a tribute to Eartha Kitt. And similar to the beginning number of Seasn 3, ep. 1, wanted Dean Pelton to come and steal Shirley's diva thunder. Ironically, I had him choose the sluttier Halle Berry version)
