Charlie Brown Suits Up as Indiana Jones in New Art Prints

Artist Chris Thornley, aka Raid71, created these cool art prints featuring Charlie Brown as Indiana Jones, with one print for each movie in the original trilogy. (Not including one for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? He chose...wisely.) I love the little touches in these: things like Marcie as the Nazi in the background of the first print and Snoopy's picture on Charlie's cup in the third one.

These are part of New York City's Bottleneck Gallery's NYCC collection, and they're available for purchase here. The Peanuts Movie hits theaters on November 6th, and Spielberg recently mentioned he may make a fifth Indy movie with Harrison Ford, so we'll see if that ever comes true.

A Creepy Doll Comes Alive in Spooky Trailer For THE BOY

$

The Boy is one of the most generic titles imaginable, and based on the trailer for this unique horror thriller, I feel like it really does the film a disservice. Maybe there's some deeper meaning involved beyond what's presented in the trailer to justify it, but The Boy is just such a bland, forgettable title; I wish they could have come up with something better.

In any case, The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan stars in this creepy-looking story of a babysitter who discovers the child she's supposed to take care of is actually a doll that looks like the parents' dead son. As you can probably guess, things get all sorts of crazy from there. The film arrives in theaters on January 22nd, 2016.

Greta (Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.

If you are wondering when we'll see a new trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this news is for you. According to Screen Crush, we might see that next trailer next Monday, October 19th! It will then make its way into theaters on November 6th with Spectre.

The report goes on to say that not only will this be a new trailer for the Force Awakens, but it will also be the last. If that's the case, then this next trailer is going to be a full one filled with all kinds of awesome footage. Make sure to have a box of tissues ready, because it sounds like this coming Monday, the world will be flooded with the tears of Star Wars fans all over the world.

We got our first glimpse at this upcoming trailer in a teaser that was released about a month ago. It featured Finn igniting his Lightsaber in a dark forest. The release of the trailer will also reportedly coincide with ticket pre-sales for the December 18th release of the movie.

I really hope this news is true because I'm so ready for this new Star Wars trailer to hit!

Lucy Lawless Discusses Her Potential Return to XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS

A few months ago, we learned that NBC would be rebooting Xena: Warrior Princess, and there has been some talk that Lucy Lawless would be a part of it in some capacity. During a recent interview with CBR, the actress said that she would be open to a return, if the show is faithful to the original. When she was asked about joining the series, she said:

"Too early to say because if they don't honour the original, you know the covenant with the fans, then I wouldn't touch it with a forty-foot flagpole. Too early to say. Their concern is that I would overshadow whoever was playing [the lead role], which may or may not be legit, but do I want to be used as some sort of warm prop for somebody else's show. What's in it for me?"

I don't see why they just don't bring Lawless back to continue her journey in a sequel type of series. That would make more sense to me, and I think fans would appreciate that more than a reboot. She goes on to explain:

"And if it wasn't honouring the intention of the show - like it's full of T&A, that immediately breaks the covenant with fans - that is not part of female empowerment, that is not part of self-realisation, it's not part of, you know, good over base instincts or everything that the show was about then yeah, I would not want to have a part of it."

I'm really glad to hear that she is sticking to her convictions and that she won't do it if it betrays the original in any way. Like all of the fans, though, she hopes that the series will be good:

"I think that character, and the relationship of Xena and Gabrielle, it's not done, we still need everything that was about, so I totally support them in making it. But how that is realized is a much bigger question. I hope it's great. I hope that the fans have that again. The TV series aside, what I would love to do is a little bit like Ash Vs. Evil Dead where you get the original cast together - get Renee O'Connor, me, Bruce and Ted Raimi - and do a spoof, do a comedy one-off movie. That would be so fun."

I would totally love to see that happen! I'm personally not expecting much from this new series. Without Lawless in the role as Xena, what the hell's the point?

Watch: A 74-Piece Orchestra Rocks Stephen Colbert's LATE SHOW With LEGEND OF ZELDA Music

With the rise in popularity of video games over the past, oh, twenty or so years, came a reckoning: music created for games should be considered works of art as well. Game scores have become legitimate artistic endeavors, with Oscar-winning composers like Michael Giacchino providing epic tracks you hear as you're blasting opponents in the face or traversing strange new worlds.

The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses is a 74-piece orchestra that tours the world playing music from the Zelda game series, and luckily, Stephen Colbert — the new host of CBS's The Late Show — is also a big geek who loves Tolkien, fantasy, Captain America, and all sorts of other geeky stuff. So he invited them on to play during last night's show, and they rocked the house with a pretty impressive performance. Gamers, behold:

Y: THE LAST MAN Will Be Adapted for TV at FX

The Vertigo comic book series Y: The Last Man has been in feature film development for years, but it seems like efforts to get a film off the ground have failed. Brian K. Vaughan's comic will now be adapted as a TV series on FX, which has brought us series such as JustifiedSons of Anarchy, and American Horror Story.

The news comes from THR, who reports that FX has brought Vaughan on board to help develop the series along with Color Force's Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson. They are currently looking for a writer to help develop the series, and there is no director attached yet. While the comic was in film development Dan Trachtenberg, Louis Leterrier, and David Caruso were all attached at various stages.

I honestly think a TV version of the story will work a lot better than a film version. They will be able to tell so much more of the story, which follows a character named Yorick, who becomes the last man on Earth when a plague wipes out all of the males on the planet except him and his pet monkey, Ampersand. He journeys across the world in search of his girlfriend Beth, whom he was proposing to over the phone the plague struck.

FX puts great production value into their series, so I have high hopes that this comic will get the proper adaptation that it deserves. Do you think FX will be a good home for the project?

Mike Colter Talks About LUKE CAGE Discovering His Powers In JESSICA JONES

One of the characters I'm excited about seeing join the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Luke Cage. The character is being played by Mike Colter, and he will be making his debut in the upcoming first season of Jessica Jones. That is the launching pad that will spin him off into his own series.

In an interview with Collider, Colter discusses his character and the discovery of his powers, and how they are limited... at first. There are possible SPOILERS ahead.

"You guys have seen the first two [episodes]. I think there are more than one moment for me, but since you’ve seen the first two, I think for me it’s like, we talk about realism and what we can do and less is more and stuff like that and being grounded. For me it was the table saw moment for Cage at the end of [episode] two, this moment where you’re like, you show your power but in a subtle way in a sense but it’s so effective and then it’s just a moment, it’s like this thing where you’re like –Because what’s great about what they’re doing is like we’re discovering, especially for Cage, he’s discovering this power as you see him, he doesn’t know what he can do. And so he has the power, he doesn’t know what he can do, so he knows some things, he doesn’t know everything. So you’ll find that out as it goes, that’s what’s cool, that moment of like, 'I know I can do this and this is what I’m gonna show you right now that’ll let you know…' you know. But it’s a movie moment, it’s one of those things where you’re like, 'I’m unbreakable.' This is that moment and then what does that mean? All that stuff. So that was that moment where we shot that, I remember we were rushing to get it shot but it turned out a cool moment."

Based on those comments is sounds like somewhere down the line Cage is going to find himself in a situation that could kill a normal man. Obviously it won't kill him, and that will be the defining moment for Cage and what he's capable of.

Jessica Jones is set to premiere on Netflix on November 20th, and I'm excited to see her and Cage in action!

Preview - All New Wolverine #1

It has been a long time coming, but now it is time for Laura to embrace the role she was meant for and become the All New Wolverine. The team of Tom Taylor, David Lopez, and David Navarrot will be guiding her on her new journey, and for me, the biggest piece to make this all work is commitment. For now, Logan is gone, and legacy characters only work if you actually commit to them for longer than the typical 6 to 10 months. At that point, most people get scared and do a quick about-face and switch everything back, which makes the whole thing kind of pointless. Sure, Logan will return one day, but for now there is a lot of story here to be told, and I would really like to see it and Laura herself allowed some room to breathe.

THE HATEFUL EIGHT: 70mm "Roadshow Version" Will be 12min Longer

We already knew Quentin Tarantino's "Roadshow Version" of The Hateful Eight was going to be a rare experience; first, it's going to be shown in 70mm, which is an insanely beautiful film format. Second, the movie will have an overture and intermission, a collectible program, and Tarantino himself.

In an interview with Variety, Tarantino says that Roadshow Version's overture and intermission will add six minutes of screen time, and another six minutes of extended scenes.

Tarantino: “The 70 is the 70. You’ve paid the money. You’ve bought your ticket. So you’re there. I’ve got you. But I actually changed the cutting slightly for a couple of the multiplex scenes because it’s not that. Now it’s on Showtime Extreme. You’re watching it on TV and you just kind of want to watch a movie on your couch. Or you’re at Hot Dog on a Stick and you just want to catch a movie.”
The sequences in question play in “big, long, cool, unblinking takes” in the 70mm version, Tarantino said. “It was awesome in the bigness of 70, but sitting on your couch, maybe it’s not so awesome. So I cut it up a little bit. It’s a little less precious about itself.”

If you're a Tarantino fan this is just the cherry-on-top of a cool screening experience. We'll report when tickets become available for the "Roadshow Version" of The Hateful Eight, which are sure to sell out insanely fast. The standard theatrical release will come to theaters December 25th (USA).

James Cameron Hires Robert Rodriguez to Direct ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL

James Cameron has been wanting to get his big screen live action adaptation of Alita: Battle Angel off the ground for a very, very long time. Then he started work on all those Avatar sequels which have him tied up over the next several years. He's obviously not going to have the opportunity to direct Alita: Battle Angel anytime soon, so he and his producing partner Jon Landau are going to hire someone else to do it.

According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox and Cameron are in talks with Robert Rodriguez to bring Yukito Kishiro's graphic novel series to life. I have mixed feeling about Rodriguez taking on this project as he hasn't made a good film since Once Upon A Time in Mexico in 2003. That's just my opinion. I just think there are better directors out there who are more suited for the project. I wish Cameron had been able to do it because I know he would have given fans an incredible adaptation. At least he's still producing it, so hopefully he can steer it in the right direction.

Cameron made the following statement about hiring Rodriguez:

“Robert and I have been looking for a film to do together for years, so I was pumped when he said he wanted to do Battle Angel. He’s very collaborative and we’re already like two kids building a go-kart, just having fun riffing creatively and technically. This project is near and dear to me, and there’s nobody I trust more than Robert, with his technical virtuosity and rebel style, to take over the directing reins. We’re looking forward to learning a lot from each other while we make a kick-ass epic.”

Rodriguez added:

“Battle Angel is an incredibly rich and vibrant epic in the tradition of Jim Cameron’s spectacular, character-driven films. Getting to work from Jim’s terrific and visionary script while learning the cutting edge techniques he’s pioneered is a master class in filmmaking. It’s an honor to explore the world of Alita along with Jim and Jon, whose films have impacted me for decades.”

The graphic novel is set the 26th century. It tells the story of Alita, "an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard by a doctor. The rebuilt Alita, remembering only her training in a deadly martial art, becomes a hunter-warrior, tracking down and eliminating vicious criminals. Within the context of an epic action-adventure, the film will explore a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and finding love."

Hopefully, Rodriguez can dig deep and bring out that directing talent that used to shine in his earlier movies. Do you think he's the right fit for Alita: Battle Angel

X-Men Marvel TV Series Confirmed - LEGION and HELLFIRE

Marvel and Fox have come to an agreement which will allow them to develop two TV dramas set in the X-Men Universe. This is a joint effort in which Fox producers Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Simon Kinberg will join forces with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory to bring these series to life.

One series is called Legion and has been given a pilot order at FX. It will be written and produced by Fargo creator Noah Hawley. The second series is called Hellfire and is being developed by Evan Katz (24: Live Another Day), Manny Coto (24), Patrick McKay (Star Trek 3), and JD Payne (Star Trek 3).

When it comes to Legion, the series "introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real."

Hawley is a great choice to take on this project. I love what he did with Fargo, and I have faith that he'll bring fans an awesome series. Regarding the project, FX’s Nick Grad said:

Legion is just the sort of ambitious story that Noah excels at. His adaption of Fargo for television was one of the most acclaimed television events in recent memory. It’s also an honor to partner with Marvel on Legion and to enlist such an accomplished team of Executive Producers to create this pilot.”

As for Hellfire, it will be set in the late 1960s, and it "follows a young Special Agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires – known as 'The Hellfire Club' – to take over the world."

I'm actually really surprised that Marvel made the deal with Fox because I've heard that there has been bad blood between the two. But Fox Entertainment president David Madden had this to say about partnering up with Marvel:

“We are thrilled to partner with Marvel to bring this world to television and build upon the vibrant mythology that has captivated fans for years. These powerful and dynamic characters are complicated and larger-than-life, the pace and visual imagination are unrelenting, and the story takes place during one of the most explosive eras in recent history. ”

I'm very curious to see how these projects turn out. There's been talk of a live-action X-Men series happening for awhile, and now we've got two of them to look forward to! Fox and Marvel have got a solid team of talented people working on bringing these shows to life, so there is a solid chance that they'll turn out well.

DIE HARD 6 Will Be a Prequel and Sequel, Len Wiseman to Direct

20th Century Fox is moving forward with Die Hard 6, and they have some very interesting plans on how they want to approach it. Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is working on developing the project with director Len Wiseman, who will most likely end up directing it. Wiseman helmed 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, which wasn't the best film in the franchise, but still managed to entertain.

The news comes from Deadline, which also offers up some details on the plot of the film. As of right now, the working title of the sequel is Die Hard: Year One, and it will give us an origin story of John McClane, which kind of weird because I always saw Die Hard as John McClane's origin story.

The film will be set in 1979, when McLane was fighting crime as a New York City cop. It will show how he "became a die hard kind of guy." Bruce Willis will reprise his role in the film but in the later part of the story which will take place in the present. That's how the movie will be both a prequel and sequel.

This wouldn't be the first time McClane’s early years have been the subject of a story. From 2009 to 2010, Boom! Studios published a comic book also called Die Hard: Year One. The story was set in New York during the 1976 bicentennial. Of course he had to take on a group of violent terrorists. That comic was followed up by another one that was set during the 1977 New York blackout. The story that Wiseman and Di Bonaventura are developing, though, will be an original story.

If this does turn out to be the direction that the studio plans on taking with the film, I think it would be cool if Joseph Gordon-Levitt came in to play a younger version of Willis like he did in Looper. The guy completely nailed Willis and his mannerisms.

The last time we saw Willis as McClane was in 2013's A Good Day to Die Hard, which sucked ass. Hopefully this next sequel will turn out a lot better. What are your thoughts on the direction they are looking to take this new sequel?

KING KONG VS. GODZILLA Confirmed, Will Be Released in 2020

Last month we learned that Legendary Pictures will be teaming up with Warner Bros. to bring us King Kong Vs. Godzilla. The studios have officially announced the film and revealed that it will be released in theaters in 2020. It will follow Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla 2 , both slated to be released in 2018. For additional information on the highly anticipated King Kong Vs. Godzilla, click here.

I can’t help but think that it’s going to be a mind-blowing experience to see these two giant creatures battle each other on the big screen. I hope to hell that they shoot this movie in IMAX, because they’d be stupid if they didn’t.

Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull had this to say in a statement:

“Audiences really responded to Godzilla. Today, I’m excited to reveal that film was only the beginning of an epic new entertainment universe. As a lifelong fan of these characters, I’ve always wanted to see the ultimate showdown, and today we’re pleased to be announcing that and more.”

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara added:

“Working with our partners at Legendary, we enjoyed tremendous creative and commercial success with `Godzilla.’ It’s great to be able to revisit these characters and help create a franchise with so many creative possibilities for filmmakers. Fans love these big, globally iconic films and it doesn’t get any bigger than this.”

We’ve got a long way to go before this movie happens, but that’s ok, because we’ve got plenty of other movies to keep us busy until it gets here. Here’s the rest of the information from the press release:

Following Legendary’s and Warner Bros. Pictures’ 2014 success with the global reinvention of the Godzilla franchise, the companies have come together to create an epic, new shared cinematic franchise. All-powerful monsters become towering heroes for a new generation, revealing a mythology that brings together Godzilla and Legendary’s King Kong in an ecosystem of other giant super-species, both classic and new. Monarch, the human organization that uncovered Godzilla in the 2014 film, will expand their mission across multiple releases.
The announcement that the reinvention of monsters continues was made today by Legendary CEO, Thomas Tull, and Kevin Tsujihara, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. The initial trio of films are 2017’s KONG: SKULL ISLAND; GODZILLA 2 in 2018; and then GODZILLA VS. KONG, arriving in theaters in 2020. While Legendary maintains its new home at Universal Pictures, the GODZILLA films remain in partnership with Warner Bros., who will now also distribute KONG as a part of this franchise. Production on KONG: SKULL ISLAND begins October 19th.
Warner Bros. and Legendary released Godzilla in May 2014 with an agreement to release Godzilla 2 on June 8, 2018. Both films feature the human Monarch organization. Shortly following Legendary’s pact with NBC Universal, Legendary acquired rights to additional classic characters from Toho’s Godzilla universe, including Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. This paved the way for developing a franchise centered around Monarch and anchored by Godzilla, King Kong, and other famous creatures.
When Legendary announced films centered on Godzilla and Kong, fans all over the world speculated these two characters might one day meet in the same film. Classic Toho monsters including King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan, as announced at Comic-Con 2014, may also join the Legendary pantheon of giant monster mayhem going forward.

BACK TO THE FUTURE 2 Updated With Actual 2015 Future in Animated Sketch

As you know, 2015 is nothing like the future that was presented to us in Back to the Future Part 2. We've actually been trying to catch up, and this year we've seen the development of a hoverboard, Nike shoes with power laces, and Pepsi Perfect-style bottles.

The "future" 2015 that we currently live in, would not have been as exciting as what we saw in the movie, but what would if be like if Doc Brown and Marty McFly did travel to the actual 2015 that we currently live it? College Humor has released a funny animated comedy sketch that shows us what that might have been like, and Marty is pretty damn frustrated about it.

I should warn you that some of the language used is NSFW.

Marvel Reportedly Wants Ryan Coogler to Direct BLACK PANTHER

Marvel has been close to landing a director for Black Panther a couple of times already. They offered the job to Selma director Ava DuVernay, who ended up passing on it, and Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Grey was next in line, but he decided to helm Furious 8 instead.

Marvel has continued their search, and according to Heroic Hollywood, the studio has now set their sights on Ryan Coogler, the director behind Fruitvale Station and the upcoming Rocky spin-off, Creed

Coogler seems like he could be the perfect filmmaker for the project. He's got a couple solid film projects under his belt, and I've been hearing that Creed is incredible. He seems to have a solid talent for storytelling and character development. Doing a film like Black Panther seems like it would be the next logical step in his career.

There no word on if there has been an offer, or even how far talks have progressed. So this rumor could turn out to be something, of it could end up fizzling out just like the first two directors Marvel wanted.

Joe Robert Cole is coming in to write the script for the film, which will star Chadwick Boseman in the title role. Andy Serkis is expected to reprise the role of Ulysses Klaw from Avengers: Age of Ultron. The movie is set to be released February 16th, 2018.

What do you think about the possibility of Coogler taking on Black Panther?

With the upcoming release of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, an FX team rigged the original house used in the first Paranormal Activity film to scare the shit out of people who are out house hunting. I enjoy scary prank videos like this as I get a lot of joy out of seeing people get scared. It's one of my favorite parts about going out to see horror movies! I guess I kinda feed off the fear of others. When was growing up I would scare the hell of my younger brothers by playing pranks on them like this. Just so you know, I'm the kind of guy who would totally buy a haunted house.
