10 Movie Outtakes That Made It To The Big Screen

A few weeks ago we shared a video with you called "10 Movie Bloopers That Made It To The Final Cut." Screen Rant has released a new video that kind of continues that theme, and this one is called, "10 Movie Outtakes That Made It To The Big Screen." This one includes films such as Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, North By Northwest, The Cabin in the Woods, Serenity, Wizard of Oz, Terminator 2, and more.

No matter how well-paid or world famous movie stars and award winning directors may be, they're still human - which means they make as many mistakes as anyone. Usually those mistakes are left on the cutting room floor, or offered to fans on blooper reels for a look behind the scenes, and a laugh. But sometimes those same outtakes can wind up in the spotlight instead - the result of an editor and director who either never noticed, or decided it was just too good to take out. But we'll let you be the judge. Here are Screen Rant's 10 Movie Outtakes That Made It To The Big Screen.

Ronda Rousey's ROAD HOUSE Remake Reaps Romcom Ringleader

(Please excuse the headline. After I typed the first five words, I couldn't help but continue the alliteration.)

We know that UFC champion, Entourage and Furious 7 alum, and all-around badass Ronda Rousey is going to be stepping into Patrick Swayze's bouncer role in a remake of Road House, but I feared it sounded like it may be one of those projects that gets announced, but never actually gets off the ground. Now we know that's not the case, as Variety reports the movie has officially found a writer/director...but it's sort of a strange choice.

Did you know that the same guy directed the hospital thriller John Q, the gritty kidnapping film Alpha Dog, the Kate Upton/Cameron Diaz comedy The Other Woman, and one of the most famous romantic dramas of all time, The Notebook? That person is Nick Cassavetes, and he's been tapped as the perhaps unlikely choice to write and direct Rousey's Road House. The studio apparently liked his ability to write for female characters, and while he may be lacking traditional action experience, the first film didn't exactly stand out for its visuals, so this will likely be an improvement in that regard.

The filmmakers are planning an early 2016 start for the production, getting fully underway after Rousey's upcoming fight in November. Are you planning on watching Rousey kick some ass — and maybe rip some throats, if she takes a cue from Swayze — in the Road House remake?

GIANT ROBOTS FROM OUTER SPACE is a Spectacular Animated B-Movie Sci-Fi Short

I have an incredible CG animated short film for you to watch today called Giant Robots From Outer Space. It’s a sci-fi short inspired by the classic B-movies of the 1950s. It features an alien robot invasion of earth, and while rampaging through the city, a lone man finds himself being chased down by the mechanical beasts. In the process, he crosses paths with a pissed off redhead engineer, and when confronted by one of the giant robots, there’s a very unexpected turn of events.

The short is wonderfully entertaining, and it was created by Valentin Watrigant, François Guery, Elsa Lamy, Aurelien Fernandez, and Louis Ventre as their SUPINFOCOM graduation project. I think you'll really enjoy this one, so I hope you take the time to check it out.

Seth Rogen Wants To Bring Garth Ennis' THE BOYS To Cable TV

Actor/writer/producer/director Seth Rogen is already hard at work on one TV adaptation of a Garth Ennis comic — he and his writing/producing partner Evan Goldberg were able to get Preacher off the ground as an AMC series — but it looks like he's not content with just that one adaptation making its way to the small screen. Birth.Movies.Death is reporting that Rogen, Goldberg, and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke are shopping an adaptation of Ennis' The Boys around to different cable networks.

Here's the plot synopsis for The Boys:

This is going to hurt! In a world where costumed heroes soar through the sky and masked vigilantes prowl the night, someone’s got to make sure the “supes” don’t get out of line. And someone will! Billy Butcher, Wee Hughie, Mother’s Milk, The Frenchman, and The Female are The Boys: A CIA-backed team of very dangerous people, each one dedicated to the struggle against the most dangerous force on Earth – superpower! Some superheroes have to be watched. Some have to be controlled. And some of them – sometimes – need to be taken out of the picture. That’s when you call in The Boys! The Boys Vol. 1: The Name of the Game collects the first six issues of the hit series The Boys by Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Punisher) and drawn by Darick Robertson (Transmetropolitan, Wolverine)!

If that plot sounds familiar, that's because there seems to be a little resurgence in off-beat anti-superhero stories similar to this one lately with things like Suicide Squad and PlayStation's Powers. You might also remember that a film adaptation of The Boys was in the works for years with Anchorman director Adam McKay attached, but he couldn't ever quite get it off the ground. (At one point, he was eyeing Russell Crowe and Simon Pegg for two of the lead roles.) If Rogen and Goldberg were the guys who finally pushed Preacher to the finish line after years in development hell, maybe they can do the same to this Ennis project as well. The comic is super violent, so it'll be interesting to see which network (if any) decides to bite on this one.

Have you read The Boys? Do you think it would make for a good TV series?

STEWIE POTTER is a Funny FAMILY GUY Parody of HARRY POTTER

Stewie Potter is an entertaining and hilarious fan-made Family Guy video that parodies Harry Potter. It was created by Patrick McCarthy, and it follows Stewie and Brian as they embark on a magical adventure to Hogwarts. I've gotta say, I am pretty impressed with how this turned out. This is a note from the creator, who also says there's a second episode on the way:

I'm a HUGE fan of Family Guy and dreamt of being a staff writer for them since high school! I'm hoping they see this video and want nothing more than to offer me a job (after issuing a cease and desist, ha).

I wrote, drew all character and location art, animated, voiced all the characters (except Meg), and composed all of the music (fusing Family Guy and Harry Potter). I created everything from scratch.

There WILL be an EPISODE 2 for Diagon Alley, but Quirky Kid will first publish an Episode 1 of a couple more on-going stories FIRST. So, PLEASE be patient, and please SUBSCRIBE so you can be notified when the next one comes out.

As a fan of both Family Guy and Harry Potter, it was easy to enjoy what McCarthy created here.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Remake Finds a New Writer

The more I watch Escape From New York, the more I love it. Everything about it — Kurt Russell's iconic performance as Snake Plissken, John Carpenter and Nick Castle's terrific script, the A+ production design, all of it — coalesces perfectly into Carpenter's singular vision. Each time I watch it, it jumps up a few spots on my personal favorite movies of all time list.

While I typically try to be open-minded about remakes, I'm not thrilled about this one. I'm of the mindset that if remake culture is going to continue, Hollywood should find movies that have great premises but weren't classics the first time around and remake those. For something as special as Escape From New York, I just don't think a remake is warranted. (Did you guys see the remake of The Thing? Have we learned nothing?) But a lot of people disagree with that, and a remake has been chugging through development hell for nearly a decade with people ranging from Gerard Butler to Charlie Hunnam being eyed to wear Plissken's eye patch. 20th Century Fox acquired the rights a few months ago, and now The Wrap's Jeff Sneider brings the latest news: the project has a new writer.

I still haven't seen Luther (it's been sitting in my Netflix queue for like three years), but it's going to be tough for anyone to recapture the sort of "f*ck you" attitude of the original script, not to mention Russell's performance. Let the fan casting begin anew in the comments below about who should play Snake this time around.

Why The World Needs To See Batman In A Rated R Movie

$

0

Cinema has done a fine job presenting Batman in a way that is enjoyable for all audiences. West showed us the man with morals, Keaton showed us the hero, Kilmer showed us the bizarre, Clooney showed us everyone makes mistakes, and Bale showed us The Dark Knight in a real world. With each performance, a mainstream audience got a different feel for Batman, and each (well, most, anyway) succeeded in giving the world all sides of Batman...

...save one.

What happens when Batman doesn't just "not save the day," but allows for horrible things to happen? Sure, we saw Rachel Dawes blow up in The Dark Knight...but considering that was the work of The Joker, that was a fairly painless and quick death than what comic book readers have experienced. What happens when The Caped Crusader truly experiences something horrific? When his response is not to prevent, but rather to avenge? What happens when Batman breaks bad?

Audiences will get a taste of that hopefully as DC has approved its animated adaptation of The Killing Joke to have an R rating, but I believe the world needs a rated R Batman film. It's the only lingering side of Batman remaining between the pulp and the silver screen.

Those that disagree, hear me out.

Films Have Really Dehumanized Batman

There has always been a solid disconnect between the man that is Batman and the man that is Bruce Wayne. When he puts on the cowl, he changes...at least in the films. I think the show Gotham really touched on something interesting when Lucius Fox told a young Bruce Wayne his father was "a true Stoic."

Many will argue Batman himself is a Stoic, but I think it's better (and frankly more true to the character) to say he is a man who's trying to be a Stoic. Granted, his threshold is pretty high, but I think the films have not truly represented how awful an experience it can be to fight crime in Gotham. Most of this is due to the PG-13 nature of the films. Gotham's destruction by terrorism is terrible and has to be stopped, but that does nothing to rattle Batman to his core.

On the flip side, you have a comic that does both shake Batman and shows his humanity rather well. Batman: Venom by Denny O'Neil shows our hero haunted after he unsuccessfully tries to rescue a young girl from death.

Batman comes home defeated, riddled by guilt, and desperate to fix something he cannot change. He feels like the child left alone in a dark alley with dead parents again, and cannot take the sadness that he allowed another child to suffer in a way he did so long ago. Vowing to never again "not be strong enough," Batman begins injecting Venom into his body to enhance his physical strength. He soon becomes addicted and riddled with uncontrollable rage.

We all forget that Batman is kind of insane. A man bound by obsession with super powers is an anti-hero at best, and can easily walk the line to achieve his means. We see something we never see on film...Batman out of control.

Without depicting an event that is so shocking it may even cause the audience to cringe upon seeing, it's really hard to portray this side of Batman without it seeming a little over done or campy.

And it's there we reach the root of our problem with Batman's film portrayal.

Films Haven't Shown Batman's Humanity Is More Than Just Being Human

Batman isn't just weak because physically he's a human. He's also psychologically disturbed, bound by obsession, and prone (as we all are) to moments of weakness. Who can blame him? He's on a crusade he knows he is doomed to fail. Despite his most valiant of efforts and triumphs, crime will always prevail. It's enough to drive him crazy...and it does from time to time.

Have you ever considered what would happen if someone as focused and slightly crazy as Batman ever had powers? It would be madness...and it was in the popular Elseworlds tale Batman & Dracula.

Pushed to his limits taking on the darkest of knights, Bruce Wayne becomes a vampire to defeat Dracula and his minions. In doing so, Batman ends up eventually being driven by his primal instict (to stop evil at all costs) and begins killing the evil humans of Gotham. This in turn makes him a villain hunted by Alfred and the GCPD and the story comes to a great conclusion I won't spoil.

My point is, while we see Batman struggle on a physical level in each of his films, we never really get the sense that he is a tortured individual. He's our protector, he's supposed to be stronger than us. In truth, he's a man just like we are, and even he has his limits...

Which We See In The Killing Joke

Ah yes, we've come full circle. In The Killing Joke we see Batman pushed so far by the rated R antics of The Joker that he breaks. The iconic final frames see Batman start laughing maniacally and grabbing Joker. The two share a laugh and the ending is one of the most hotly debated topics in Batman lore. Did Batman break his rule of killing? Did he let Joker go? What happened?

It's a story that deserves more than an animated feature, and in truth, would be the perfect way to launch Ben Affleck's run as Batman.

We Will Never See That On Film

You can't sell that Batman to children, and that's where the money is. A pseudo psychotic man seeing some of the most gruesome crimes as told by Alan Moore, Frank Miller, etc? Ironically, we're forced to only see it in cartoon form, but we can dream that perhaps one day well see the true Dark Knight on the big screen.

3 New TV Spots For SPECTRE - "I'm Your Best Chance of Staying Alive"

Three new TV spots have been released for the upcoming James Bond film Spectreand they offer bits of new footage from the highly anticipated action spy thriller. The first it called "The Organization," and puts the focus on Christoph Waltz's mysterious villain character, who is the cause of all Bond's pain. The other two spots highlight the relationship between Daniel Craig's 007 and Lea Seydoux's Madeline Swann. The more that I see from this movie, the more excited I get!

In the film, a cryptic message from the past sends James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond’s actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.
As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.

Spectre is set to be released on November 6th!

Charlize Theron May Replace Brad Pitt in Assassin Thriller THE GRAY MAN

We Own The Night director James Gray was attached to direct an assassin thriller called The Gray Man back in 2011, and Brad Pitt was in negotiations to play the lead role. But if Deadline's latest report is accurate, it looks like the story's male lead is about to turn into a female lead as Charlize Theron is in talks to come on board the project to replace Pitt.

Here's the synopsis of Mark Greaney's book on which the film is based:

Court Gentry is known as The Gray Man — a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, and then fading away. And he always hits his target. But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness.

Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living...and killing to stay alive.

Theron is supposedly playing a gender-swapped version of Gentry. A similar situation happened with the spy thriller Salt a few years ago. That movie was initially developed for Tom Cruise before ultimately being revamped for Angelina Jolie after Cruise dropped out.

The Russo Brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil Warwere originally going to direct this project, but they had to bail when they got the gig directing the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. They wrote the script, though, and whoever steps in to direct will work from that script. No word yet if the project needs a rewrite to incorporate Theron as a female lead, or if the Russos have already done that (Deadline claims this casting has been months in the making), but we'll keep you posted with any major updates. Theron is certainly one of the most capable actors around; just look at her Oscar-winning work in Monster compared to something like the kick-ass character in Mad Max: Fury Road to know she can play all types. Stepping into the shoes of an assassin should be no problem for her.

I'm a fan of really cool tattoo art. I've always wanted a tattoo, but I just never got around to doing it. Now I feel like I'm at the age where it would seem like I'd be going through an early mid-life crisis if I got one. Maybe I'll get one when I actually do hit that mid-life crisis, though!

For those of you who are fans of Tim Burton and Henry Selick's The Nightmare Before Christmas, here's a really cool full sleeve tattoo by richardartistguy that features a collage of characters from the classic holiday film.

Mattel is Reportedly Looking to Make a DINO-RIDERS Movie!

Dino-Riders was one of my favorite toys when I was growing up in the '80s. It even made my list of most awesome action figures to come out of that decade. The figures featured several different species of dinosaurs that were loaded with all kinds of crazy weaponry. There was a short-lived animated series, but now Mattel is reportedly interested in adapting Dino-Riders into a feature film. This would be awesome it was true! I'd personally love to see a Dino-Riders movie! It's really easy to imagine the awesomeness it could potentially deliver.

The news comes from the Tracking Board, who says that Mattel is developing the film with Solipsist Films, and producers are currently looking for a screenwriter to take on the project. As of right now, no studio is attached to the project, but I'm sure that will come in time. A movie like this could be a huge box office success if done right.

Just in case you need a reminder of what the story behind the property is, here's a description:

In a futuristic war, the evolved human race known as the Valorians are trying to save the galaxy from Krulos and his army of mixed-species Rulons. In an effort to escape a Rulon onslaught, Questar, the leader of the Valorians, turns on a machine that takes them all back in time to prehistoric Earth. Once there, the war continues with the Valorians using their psychic abilities to convince dinosaurs to aid them, and the ulons using machinery to enslave dinosaurs to fight for them.

I would really love to see this movie happen. What do you think about the possibility that Dino-Riders could be a movie one day? Did any of you ever have the toys when you were growing up? If not, you sure did miss out on some good times.

10 Movies You Might Not Realize Have a Post Credits Scene

Marvel Studios popularized the idea of the post credits scene, but did you know that Lethal Weapon 3 also has one? Or Zombieland? Or The Grey? I certainly didn't. ScreenRant is back with another movie-based list video, this one taking aim at movies you might not realize have post credits sequences. I knew about a few of these, but there were enough surprises here to make this worth watching.

One movie I can think of off the top of my head that didn't make their list? Battleship, the awful Peter Berg board game film with one of the most useless post credits scenes of all time.

The first full trailer has been released for DC Animation's latest film project, Batman: Bad Blood. This movie was inspired by a few different Batman stories such as Batman: R.I.P.Batman & Robin, and Batman Inc. It's also a follow-up to the previous animated films Son of Batman and Batman vs. Robin. If you liked those two movies, then you're sure to enjoy this one. It looks pretty solid. I gotta say...I love the killer nuns.

The voice cast features Yvonne Strahovski as Katherine Kane / Batwoman, Gaius Charles as Luke Fox / Batwing, Jason O'Maraas Bruce Wayne / Batman, Stuart Allan as Damian Wayne / Robin, Sean Maher as Dick Grayson / Nightwing, Morena Baccarin as Talia al Ghul, and Ernie Hudson as Lucius Fox.

Batman: Bad Blood will be released on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-ray in early 2016. The trailer begins at the 1:17 mark.

Supercut of Owen Wilson Whispering in Movies

This past summer, I watched this supercut of actor Owen Wilson saying the word "wow" in all of his movies, and now every time I say the word, I find myself saying it in a Wilson-esque voice. The same team that put that supercut together is back with another Wilson-based supercut, this time taking a look at all of the time he whispers in movies (spoiler alert: it's a lot). Whispering always has the effect of drawing the audience in a little, and the fact that Wilson has a great conspiratorial tone and that he often plays scheming characters results in him doing a hell of a lot of whispering on camera. Check it out below.

MTV's SHANNARA CHRONICLES Excites Fans With a New Trailer

$

The very first trailer of The Shannara Chronicles debuted at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year. Now, just a few months later, New York Comic Con gives us yet another two minutes of what to expect in the MTV fantasy series which is based on the best-selling novels written by Terry Brooks.

Just as a reminder: The Shannara Chronicles was developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and stars Poppy Drayton, John Rhys-Davies, Austin Butler, Manu Bennett, and Ivana Baquero.

I can’t deny that finding out about this early Christmas present made me feel a bit too excited, as the previously released video managed to make quite an impression. It is true that MTV doesn't always succeed in creating something lasting and impressive. Yet, this time around their production seems to deploy just the right amount of emotion...at least in the first trailer. Picturesque views, enchanting characters, great music. Simply, it was all there. However, after watching the new clip couple of times, the originality of the over-arching story somehow begins to fade away. We have humans, dwarfs, elves, half-elves, dark creatures (demons), knights, rulers, and a sacred tree known as Ellcrys. All of the ingredients required for a good sci-fi/fiction narrative are in place – good characters, bad characters, tension, feelings, and an object that needs protection. So far, so good. But still I find it hard to ignore the fact that the 10-episode show merges ideas and worlds which can be seen in The Lord of the Rings and Avatar.

“There are dark days ahead,” but hopefully those dark days won’t be indicative of the show’s failure to meet the expectations of fans.
