Review: ZODIAC STARFORCE #2

Written by: Kevin Panetta - Art and Colors by: Paulina Ganucheau

LastTimeZodiacStarforce1.jpg

Zodiac Starforce continues to be just such a gust of fresh air. It has all the fun and lightheartedness of old school Power Rangers, but with more modern characterization. In issue two, the team seems to be pretty much back together from their hiatus, and their sisterhood really shines. Even Molly, who is the least enthralled with this whole superhero thing, seems to finally be on board.

What Kevin Panetta does throughout issue two (and one, as well) is completely hook you into these girls' personal lives. You end up being just as invested with Savi and Lily’s burgeoning friendship as you are with finding out who is behind these attacks, not to mention what is happening to Emma. All of these moments are handled with a deft touch, both in the writing and the lovely art by Paulina and Savanna Ganucheau. There isn’t panel to panel action on the majority of pages here, so everything hinges on the excellent reactions and expressions by the art team.

While every member of the team has her moment to shine, my love for the wonderful Savannah (Savi for short) has grown exponentially. Her outright owning of Darren is one of many highlights of the series, and she really seems to be the glue that holds the team together.

I can’t say enough good things about this book. If I had to point out one nitpick, it's that Emma continues to be the weak point for me. I will say I did feel much more empathy for her here than in issue 1. When you are fighting any affliction and you don’t know what is happening to you, rational thinking is typically the first thing to go, and I feel like that is what is happening here with Emma. Of course, most people don’t have a dark infection from a hell beast either, so some slack should probably be thrown her way. I’m just really hoping for that big power moment from her in future issues.

You can catch a preview of Zodiac Starforce #2 here.

A New George R.R. Martin TV Show is in The Works at Cinemax

This past weekend, author George R.R. Martin announced on his blog that Cinemax has picked up the rights to his award-winning werewolf noir The Skin Trade. I'll let him tell you what's up:

I am very excited to announce the Cinemax (HBO's sister company) has optioned the television rights to "The Skin Trade," the offbeat "werewolf noir" novella I penned back in the late 80s. The deal is closed, and Cinemax has ordered the pilot script. This being Hollywood, of course, you never know where things will end... but if they like the script, we'll shoot a pilot, and if they like that, hey, who knows, maybe we'll get a series on the air.

Martin will executive produce the series (if it comes to pass), and he and the network have chosen a relative unknown to shepherd the story:

To handle the adaptation, script the pilot, and produce the show (should we get a greenlight), we've tapped a terrific talented young scriptwriter named KALINDA VAZQUEZ, whose previous credits include work on PRISON BREAK and ONCE UPON A TIME. That was not an easy choice. Cinemax and my agents set me up for meetings with close to a dozen different Tv writers, many of them very impressive, but Kalinda's take on the story and the characters blew me away. She loves the story and the world, and really seems to get Willie and Randi, and her pitch to Cinemax was one of the most polished and professional I've ever heard. I love her enthusiasm, and look forward to working with her.

Here's a brief description of the book, for those of you who aren't familiar with it:

Randi Wade is a survivor. She followed in the footsteps of her father, became a cop, and now is working the P.I. trade. But her past still haunts her. And the vicious animal attacks that took her father's life have sprung up anew, claiming victims once again in this sleepy town.

Thankfully for A Song of Ice and Fire fans, Martin is keeping his priorities in order and wasn't tempted to bring this project to the screen himself:

(And no, while I would have loved to write the script and run the show myself myself, that was never really in the cards. I have this book to finish. You know the one).

Yes. Please, for the love of God, George — wrap up The Winds of Winter. We're going to have to wait years for the seventh and final book in the series, so finish this one quickly so you can move on to the next one and give this thing a proper ending! The Skin Trade sounds like it could be a fun show, though: we've gotten a taste werewolf noir in Bill Willingham's Fables, and this sounds like it's going all in on the concept.

Vin Diesel Announces Director of XXX 3

After being replaced by Ice Cube in xXx 2: State of the Union, Vin Diesel has been wanting to return to the world of his extreme sports spy character Xander Cage from 2002's xXx. In an interview with io9, the producer/star announced who will be directing the new action thriller:

“I’m excited as hell about XXX. D.J. Caruso is directing it, which is exciting. The big question now is which will race to production first now that F. Gary Gray is on [Furious 8]? Will XXX race to production first or will Fast race to production first?”

Caruso directed Taking Lives, The Salton Sea, and Two for the Money, though he's best known for Disturbia and Eagle Eye. After the disappointing box office returns of his last big movie, I Am Number Four, back in 2011, he's been relatively quiet, but now he's getting back into big budget filmmaking. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with this story; the script will likely be awful (come on, it's a sequel about an extreme sports guru turned secret agent), but maybe Caruso can bring some style and flash to it.

Diesel previously announced that the xXx 3 would start filming this December (though we aren't sure if the subtitle The Return of Xander Cage is officially still in play). That means he'll likely jump on that project before filming Furious 8, which doesn't hit theaters until April of 2017. There should be time to fit this sequel in before coming back to the franchise that made him a star.

XXX is one of those films you do when you need to have a little fun. When the weight and pressures of all the other things have gone so far that you need to have a character that you can just have fun and more comment on life and comment on the outcome than being in it like Dom Torretto [from Fast and Furious]. Dom is very much the center of the storm, Xander is more the guide to something else and you’re just with him.”

All of this will be way before a potential Inhumans movie begins filming, a film in which the actor continues to tease that he'll play Black Bolt.

Is anyone excited for xXx 3?

Bryan Cranston Wants to Play X-MEN Villain Mr. Sinister

0
0

As you may have heard, Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle star Bryan Cranston recently said that he wanted to play a "nasty" Marvel villain. This was his exact quote:

"You know what I'd like to do? I'd like to do some big superhero villain in some Marvel classic. Create one from scratch… I don’t know what I would do but it would be nasty."

There was a great discussion in the comments regarding what character fans would like to see Cranston play. Some suggestions included Sin-Eater, Norman Osborn, Kraven, M.O.D.O.K., Galactus, Kang The Conqueror, Absorbing Man, and more. The big question is, who exactly would Cranston want to play?

During an appearance at the SuperMansion panel at NYCC, Cranston said he would like to play Mr. Sinister, who is one of the most infamous supervillains in the X-Men universe. He is a former scientist who, after an alteration by Apocalypse, ends up possessing "enhanced durability and an extended lifespan. Over the years, Sinister has used the genetic material of other mutants to grant himself a vast array of powers including telepathy, telekinesis, superhuman strength, the ability to project concussive energy from his hands, and total control of his body at the molecular level."

Mr. Sinster has yet to be brought to life for the big screen, but it would be cool to see Cranston take it on. The only downside about this is that Cranston would be a part of Fox's Marvel universe and not Marvel Studios' Cinematic Universe. If Fox ever decides to include Mr. Sinister in their future X-Men films, they'd be stupid not to cast Cranston. Hopefully the studio is paying attention.

What do you think about Cranston wanting to take on the role of Mr. Sinister?

Official Hoverboard Commercial Celebrates BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 2's Most Iconic Invention

“Ever since skate met board, every skater lived to get air. Now, air comes standard!”

Universal Pictures and Back to the Future fans sure are having fun with the year 2015! After all, the future that Marty McFly visits in the sequel has finally caught up to us. We've seen a trailer for Jaws 19, we've learned that Pepsi Perfect bottles are coming, Nike is developing a Nike MAG shoe with power laces, and now we have an official commercial from for a Hoverboard from a fake company called Hover Master.

The video features an amped up dude rockin’ some dreads and sporting Nike MAGs and that silly hat Doc gave Marty to wear in the future. This guy is the epitome of cool! I've gotta say that the guy fires off a ton of great one-liner selling points for the Hoverboard. This is an extremely entertaining ad, and I wish I could out and buy one of these things right now!

The Hulk is Rumored To Be Involved With THOR: RAGNAROK

For those of you who were hoping to see Mark Ruffalo's Hulk leave Earth and head out into the wild frontier of space, you'll love this latest news! The last time that we saw Bruce Banner, he was flying in a Quinjet, which apparently crashed in the ocean. We had no idea where the Hulk is now or where he would show up next in the MCU...until now.

According to JoBlo, a reliable source for big scoops like this, the next time we see the Hulk will be in Thor: Ragnarok. According to the inside sources, the film will see "Chris Hemsworth’s Thor team up with none other than Mark Ruffalo’s HULK for the Odinson's third solo film, which finds the God of Thunder facing what amounts to the Norse Apocalypse. Only this time out he'll have some help from a fellow Avenger."

The site also confirms that Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander will be back to reprise their role of Loki and Sif. The site goes on to report that the story will involve a “distant planet” that is "not Asgard and not Earth." There's no solid information on what that exactly means, but it's easy to speculate that it could be connected to the Planet Hulk storyline, which has been rumored in the past. That's where I believe the MCU will eventually lead the Hulk.

There's no info on how much time Bruce Banner/Hulk will spend in the film, but the report says "he’s absolutely part of the supporting cast and will feature prominently." I think it makes a lot of sense for Hulk to be involved with Thor; they are a great match-up, and teaming them up for Thor: Ragnarok would be an awesome road to take...if this news actually turns out to be true.

Taika Waititi is set to direct Thor: Ragnarok and it's scheduled to be released in theaters on November 3rd, 2017. Are you excited about the possibility of seeing Hulk and Thor fighting alongside each other in this upcoming Marvel movie?

Danny DeVito Was Considered For Rocket Raccoon in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

0

Rocket Raccoon is such a fun and badass Marvel character, and he was awesome in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Bradley Cooper was cast as the voice of the sarcastic anti-hero, but the job could've gone to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Danny DeVito! The news came from Gunn himself during a Q&A event he held on his Facebook page not long ago. The director explained why it didn't work out, saying:

"In all honesty, Danny DeVito is one of the voices we tried out. But Danny DeVito is an older man now, and Rocket is not an older man. He's a younger man. And Danny DeVito's voice just wouldn't work."

DeVito definitely has that unique raspy voice that you'd expect to here from Rocket, and it's easy for me to imagine Rocket with his voice. I understand why Gunn decided to pass on DeVito, though, and Cooper ended up being the perfect choice in the end, and he'll be reprising his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which comes out on May 5th, 2017.

For those of you who are fans of Gunn, you can watch his entire Facebook Q&A below:

Steven Spielberg Teases INDIANA JONES 5, Says He May Avoid References to His Films in READY PLAYER ONE

0
0

Let's start off by getting this Indiana Jones 5 bit out of the way. We already know Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm are going to make a new Indy movie at some point, though the exact timing is still up in the air. Until now, we've only really heard Kennedy talk about the project in loose terms, saying that it's going to happen but without providing any details, and a couple of years ago, Harrison Ford said he'd be interested in reprising the iconic role again. But we haven't heard from director Steven Spielberg himself on the matter until today, when he and Tom Hanks spoke with Yahoo to promote their upcoming film Bridge of Spies:

“We’ve gotta figure this out because now, Tom is tied with Harrison Ford: Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies. Now I’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison, [so] it’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom.”

Did anyone really think Spielberg would choose not to make Indy 5, especially if Ford is still playing the hero? I could see him maybe passing the franchise on to a new generation if they rebooted it and recast the lead role, but this franchise means too much to Spielberg to just let it go while Ford is still wearing the fedora. And his comments in no way hint at when the movie might happen, so we're still left waiting for a lot more details from Lucasfilm and Disney. After he eventually completes Indy 5, Spielberg said:

“I’ve got to make another one with Tom, that’ll be five for Tom, five for Harrison. And I think I’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else!”

But before he gets to any of that, he'll direct Ready Player One for Warner Bros., based on Ernie Cline's geektastic 2011 novel. The plot centers on a quest for a virtual reality easter egg that will give its owner control of the VR game world, and it's loaded with references to 1980s pop culture — including nods at Back to the Future, The Goonies, and Indiana Jones — leaving many to wonder how Spielberg would handle those references to his own filmography. In an interview with USA Today, he says he might avoid them altogether:

Spielberg says it's “very trippy” to be an influence on himself in a way, “but I’m not making this movie to remind people of my ‘80s movies. I may leave most of them out!”

I haven't read the book yet myself, but I imagine those references are a big part of why the book was so successful. I wonder how that decision will go over with fans of the source material...but ultimately, Spielberg knows what he's doing and knows that his job is to make a good movie first and an accurate adaptation second. Besides, he's more interested in what the movie has to say about our society:

“[Ready Player One is] a crystal ball into exactly what is going to be happening not in 30 or 40 years but in between 5 and 10 years from now, where a virtual world becomes almost like a drug of choice and where we are spending more time in a nonorganic space than we are breathing and eating and interacting in real life." ...
“This movie is going to show why it’s interesting not living in the real world but what we’re missing by not. It’s a cautionary tale but it’s also a big rockin’ adventure movie, too.”

Ready Player One has Olivia Cooke on board as the female lead, and the movie hits theaters on December 15th, 2017.

BACK TO THE FUTURE Score Getting Vinyl Mondo Release, Plus See Eclectic Method's New Remix

I've already written at length about how great Alan Silvestri's score is for Back to the Future, but he did some terrific work in the sequels, too — especially the western themes in Back to the Future Part III. But fans have never been able to purchase the scores on vinyl before, and Mondo is here to change that with a limited edition box set that will be on sale on MondoTees.com on — you guessed it — Back to the Future Day: October 21st, 2015.

The score is fully restored from Silvestri's original masters and includes never-before-released tracks from the sequels. You can pick up the entire trilogy box set, or each film's score individually. DKNG designed the packaging for the box set and artist Matt Taylor tackled the artwork for the individual albums. Franchise producer/co-writer Bob Gale also contributed exclusive liner notes specifically for this release, which detail — among other things — executive producer Steven Spielberg's first reaction to hearing Silvestri's score play during the clock tower sequence. See the art work and check out the full press release below:

Steve Zahn Will Play An Ape in WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES

0
0

Both Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes were surprisingly great movies, with deep, layered characters and complex themes that have me excited about the future of this franchise. Dawn director Matt Reeves is coming back to direct the third film in the prequel saga, War For The Planet of The Apes (previously thought to be titled War of The Planet of the Apes) and he already has Woody Harrelson lined up to play the villain. Harrelson and the other recently-announced cast member, Gabriel Chavarria, are both playing humans, while Andy Serkis will reprise his lead role as Caesar, slipping back into the motion-capture equipment once again.

Now The Wrap has news about the addition of one more person to the mix: Steve Zahn will play "a new ape" in the movie, which is set to hit theaters on July 14th, 2017. Unfortunately, that's all the new information available about his character, so we're left wondering exactly what kind of relationship he'll have with Caesar: will he be a friend, or perhaps another foe along the lines of Koba (Toby Kebbell) in the previous movie? I'd like to think Caesar has proven himself to be the dominant ape leader at this point, and the conflict in this movie (as hinted at in the title) will be squarely between humans and apes without a lot of infighting on either side.

Zahn had quite a moment in the early 2000s when he was starring in a ton of movies and landing some solid supporting roles, and though he's been steadily working ever since, he hasn't had the kind of impact on the big screen lately that he once did. This will be the biggest project he's been a part of in some time, and it'll be interesting to see what he can do with motion-capture as an ape without having audiences recognize him from more comedic roles. (If you haven't seen the excellent 2009 thriller A Perfect Getaway, it's a great example of what he can do outside of straight comedies.)

Great New Trailer for Robert Kirkman's Cinemax Series OUTCAST

0
0

A new trailer for Robert Kirkman's upcoming Cinemax supernatural horror series, Outcast, premiered at New York Comic Con this past weekend, and that trailer is now online for you to check out! The series stars Patrick Fugit, whom I've been a fan of since his break out role in the Cameron Crowe film Almost Famous. In my opinion, the guy is an underrated actor, so it's awesome to see him take on the lead role in this new series. It also doesn't hurt that the series looks awesome.

The series is based on a comic book created by Kirkman that centers on a guy named Kyle Barnes who battles demons. I love the dark, eerie vibe that I've seen from this show so far, and I think that it has a lot of potential. Even though this comes from the guy who created The Walking Dead, I'm not expecting this series to be that kind of series. This is going to be its own demonic beast. Also since the series is on Cinemax, Kirkman and his creative team have a lot more freedom to go crazy. Here's the synopsis:

The series follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson, a preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate — and the fate of the world — forever.
Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Gone Girl) stars as Barnes, a man searching for answers, and for redemption, who sequesters himself from those he loves for fear of causing greater hurt. Philip Glenister stars as Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God’s holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. An inveterate drinker and gambler, he doesn’t believe God intends people to sweat the small stuff. Gabriel Bateman stars as Joshua Austin, an eight-year-old who lives across town from Kyle. To his family’s dismay, he appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession, but there’s something very different about this possession and its connection to Kyle Barnes.

The pilot episode was directed by Adam Wingard, who is the same guy that directed the fantastic films You’re Next and The Guest. So that's also a big plus that the series has going for it. The series is set to premiere sometime next year.

ABC Family Reveals Two Sneak Peeks at SHADOWHUNTERS

Comic Con is the type of event that knows how to thrill, surprise, entertain, and inspire. This time around, New York Comic Con did all of this and, still, somehow managed to cast not light but some shadow on fans and their expectations. Not literally, of course. Here I am referring to the long-awaited TV series Shadowhunters. Get ready, as ABC Family released a couple of exclusive videos just to tease all Shadowhunters fans. A little bit, of course. After all, keeping them interested is what really matters. And what is the best way to achieve it if not by unveiling spicy, subtle, and thought-provoking shots? Yes, exactly.

Back to the main point now. Based on the already well-known fantasy novels The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, the upcoming TV show is set to debut next year on January 12. Shadowhunters introduces us to Clary Fray who is the leading character of the Mortal Instruments series as well. After finding out that she is a shadowhunter — part human and part angel — Fray's mission is to discover people like her and vanish into the Downworld. Needless to say, it is not a simple task, as enemies from the past reappear once again.

Hopefully it will turn out to be what we think it will be — a show full of adventure, excitement and healthy (or not so) dose of fiction.

Reward yourself with 7-minute sneak peaks of the Shadowhunters’ pilot episode posted bellow.

Limited Edition GHOSTBUSTERS Sneakers Revealed

This past weekend at New York Comic Con, an Australian company called Nookiee unveiled a line of super cool, officially-licensed Ghostbusters-themed shoes.

The sneakers come in a few different styles for both men and women. As you can see, they are inspired by the design of the classic Ghostbusters uniform. They even have elbow pads on the heels as well as character name tags stitched on the side that read Stantz, Spengler, Venkman, and Zeddemore. They also include the “no ghost” version, in black or white; and the “Gozer” sneakers.

The shoes range in price from $100 to $120, and you can preorder them now at Nookiee's website. To see ten other movie-inspired shoes, click here. I'm actually considering buying myself a pair of Venkmans, because why the hell not?

Amazing Animated Promo for THE X-FILES - "Ask Yourself"

If you're a fan of The X-Files, you're going to love this new animated promo spot. It aired last night during Gotham, and it has such a cool Saul Bass, Hitchcockian-style to it. Even though it doesn't offer up any actual footage from the upcoming six episodes, I still think that it's the best spot that I've seen for the revival so far. I love the vibe!

The first episode was screened at New York Comic Con this past weekend, and I've seen nothing but positive buzz. So for those of you fans hoping for this to be something amazing, it looks like that's exactly what we're going to get! The X-Files returns January 24th, 2016 on Fox. I think you're really going to enjoy this.

To catch up on all the news about this highly anticipated series, click here.

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES is a thrilling, six-episode event series from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI ASST. DIR. WALTER SKINNER, Mulder and Scully’s boss, who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. THE X-FILES debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).
The upcoming event series will encompass a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. The all-new episodes will feature appearances by guest stars, including Joel McHale (“Community”), Robbie Amell (“The Flash”), Lauren Ambrose (“Dig,” “Six Feet Under”), Annabeth Gish (“The Bridge”), Annet Mahendru (“The Americans”), Rhys Darby (“Flight of the Conchords”), Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley”) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man.”
Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.

Frank Miller’s Batman Variant Art for DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE

Last week we showed you the cover art that Frank Miller created for The Atom mini-comic that will be a part of his upcoming comic book series Dark Knight III: The Master Race. It was an image of Superman, and it threw a lot of fans off because of how bad the art was, but that was because of his health issues. I had no idea his health was so bad, and apparently at one point he thought he would never be able to draw again. So the fact that he’s been able to draw these is actually inspiring.

We have a new variant cover that he created to share with you, and this time it features Batman. It may not look pretty, but he’s able to do something he loves that he almost lost.

This is a sequel to Dark Knight Returns, and its follow-up, The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Dark Knight III: The Master Race was written by Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello, with art primarily from Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson, which you can see below in a comic panel that was released. The comic is scheduled to be released on November 25th. For additional details on The Dark Knight III: The Master Race, click here

Ronda Rousey on How She's Preparing for CAPTAIN MARVEL

Ronda Rousey fans are really hoping that Marvel gives her a shot at playing Captain Marvel in the film they are developing. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, she talked abut her upcoming lead role in the Road House remake and how she hopes that will prepare her for getting a shot at Captain Marvel. She says:

"I was pursuing Road House for like, two years. I really don't think that any other man could be [Patrick Swayze]. I think it's a wise angle to take to kind of do a little gender flip of the role.
"I'm really looking forward to doing my first starring role opposite Mark Wahlberg. Hopefully by the time Captain Marvel comes around, I will have enough skills and experience in the field for them to seriously consider me."

Rousey will star alongside Wahlberg in the movie Mile 22. Captain Marvel doesn't come out until 2018, so she has plenty of time to show Marvel what she can do in these movies she's starring in. Hopefully, she's good enough to where Marvel will consider her for the role because she's definitely got the look. She currently in training for her fight against Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 14th.

Sizzle Reels for THE FLASH Season 2 and ARROW Season 4

This last weekend Warner Bros. Television had a panel that focused on season two of The Flash and season 4 of Arrow. They showed a couple of exciting sizzle reels that tease what we will see in the upcoming episodes of their seasons. There is also a new clip from The Flash that you can watch at KTLA that focuses on Jay Garrick and “Team Flash.” The video also includes an interview with Teddy Sears in which he offers some details about Earth-2 and Zoom. In the process, there's a spoiler twist revealed.

It also seems like Mark Hamill will be reprising his role as the Trickster again in an upcoming episode. Hamill is great in this role, and it was so good to see him show up in The Flash’s first season. The actor tweeted the following tease,

"Supposed to keep my return to @CW_TheFlash secret but never refuse a selfie request. Does 'oops' count as an excuse?"

That tweet was later removed from his feed. I guess The CW really did want him to keep that a secret. Ok, now here are the sizzle reels:

INTRODUCING JAY GARRICK - Jay Garrick (guest star Teddy Sears), a mysterious man fromEarth-2, appears at S.T.A.R. Labs with a dire warning about an evil speedster named Zoom, who is set on destroying The Flash.  Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team must decide if they can trust this stranger even as they face yet another powerful meta-human.  Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) must deal with a determined officer named Patty Spivot (guest star Shantal VanSanten) who wants to join his meta-human task force.  Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing.
After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe?

KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE 2 Is Being Pushed Forward

There's been some talk of a Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel for awhile now, and earlier this year we learned that 20th Century Fox started the process of developing that sequel. Things have gotten really serious now, and the studio is, in fact, going to move forward with the film.

Taron Egerton is the young star that got his big break in the first movie. He's a rising star who found himself in the middle of dueling projects that want him. He is set to star in both Linosgate's Robin Hood: Origins and Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman 2. Both of these films would shoot around the same time, and according to THR, "Vaughn exercised his option on the actor, meaning that Kingsman 2 was going ahead no matter what, throwing Robin Hood: Origins temporarily into a loop."

Vaughn and the studio are obviously looking to push Kingsman 2 forward in the near future, especially if they are pulling this option card on Egerton. The plan is to shoot the sequel in April of 2016. Lionsgate will wait for Egerton to finish Kingsman 2 before they start shooting their Robin Hood movie.

In previous interviews with Vaughn, we've learned that the sequel would introduce American Kingsmen. We've also heard that there's a chance Colin Firth could return. I have no idea how that would work, but if they find a way to do it... awesome! Talking about the sequel, the director said:

"You wouldn't believe what we've got in store. Poor Mark Strong will be going on a journey that he never imagined. And we've got this idea to introduce the world to the American branch of the Kingsman.
“A lot of people are very upset that Colin might not be in the sequel but I’m coming up with ideas at the moment. If people buy tickets in America, I’ve got a feeling we’ll figure out a way for having Colin back.
“The sequel will be ‘This is the modern-day gentleman spy.’ Because Harry [Firth's character] isn’t. Harry even says, ‘There is a reason why we’ve developed weak chins.’ He said that meaning, ‘Look at us, we need to get new blood into this system,’ and that’s what Eggsy [Taron Egerton] is. I joke that we’ve made the prequel to the Eggsy movie.”

I loved the first movie, and I really hope that Vaughn actually does come back to direct it. I think he's one of the only directors who could pull off that kind of badassery that we saw in the first movie. The last we heard, he was considering returning to direct it. He said:

“I’m in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I’ll probably be breaking the rule of [me] tending not to make sequels.”

In regards to Firth's possible return, comic book writer Mark Millar recently told IGN:

"That’s the conversation everyone’s having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin. Colin’s fantastic, it was a two-hander, that film. You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense. That’s where it is at at the moment. Beats of the story have been done. [Screenplay co-writers] Matthew [Vaughn] and Jane [Goldman] are working on it at the moment. Some things have to be worked out, some decisions have still to be made and everything, so it’s all fairly amorphous, but all going well."

I'm excited that this sequel is moving forward. I was really hoping that it would. It sounds like Vaughn is planning something big with it. I can't wait to see how this sequel turns out!
