Batman Characters Reimagined With Alternate Colors

0
0

I’ve got an interesting series of character art here for you to check out that features a few DC Comics characters with alternate costume color designs. The designs were done by Artistabe and the characters included in the set are Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl. After getting used to the same color schemes of these characters after all these years, it’s always weird to see them in a different light like this when an artist comes in to play with them.

With the Halloween season upon us, I’m always trying to find weird and creepy Halloween art to post on the site. In the process, I’ve come across this great collection of macabre-style art that has some fun, dark, and disturbing visuals perfect for this time of year. The art you see here was created by David Hartman, and you can see even more of his work by clicking here.

Marvel's INHUMANS Movie Still Coming in 2019; Vin Diesel Continues to Tease His Involvement

0
0

Last week a rumor hit the internet that Marvel's The Inhumans movie might end up being canceled due to a clash between the film and TV sides of Marvel Studios. It looks like that actually isn't the case, though. The rumor was debunked byDrew McWeeny at HitFix, who says, "I went directly to an unimpeachable source, who told me that the film division is still planning to make the film, and there are certain elements of the Inhumans universe that have been declared off-limits to the SHIELD people as a result."

On top of that, Vin Diesel continues to tease the possibility that he will be in The Inhumans. He's previously hinted at his involvement with the project, which you can read about here and here. It's pretty obvious that if the guy is a part of the film, he will end up playing Black Bolt, who is the leader of The Inhumans. In a recent interview with io9, the actor said:

"I can totally be something [else] with Marvel. I think playing that role only makes Marvel that much more excited and me having my experience with Marvel, seeing how great they were, makes me more excited.

"We’ve heard a lot of talk about Marvel wanting to have me play a character that doesn’t have my voice. So my voice is used for Groot and my presence is used for the other character."

Diesel is perfect for the role of Black Bolt, and he might as well just come out and officially announce it already. The Inhumans is set to be released on July 12th, 2019. With the direction that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is headed, it's going to be really interesting to see how this movie turns out.

Rare Never-Before-Seen Video Outtakes of Robin Williams in ALADDIN

Can you believe that it's been 23 years since Disney's animated classic Aladdin was released in theaters?! I have memories of seeing the film for the first time at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood. Seems like it was just like yesterday.

The movie is coming to Blu-ray for the very first time on October 13th, and along with that release comes some great special features. One of those is outtakes of actor Robin Williams recording his voice as the Genie. This is easily one of Williams' most iconic roles. You can watch a tease of the never-before-seen footage of Williams being absolutely hilarious!

While talking to Good Morning America, co-writer and director John Musker opened up about Williams' performance, saying:

“He was the Genie, he was bigger than life. We didn’t know if he would do it. And fortunately for us, he did. We were totally walking down the plank. If he said no, we were going to be in big trouble because the whole concept was built around Robin. Fortunately he agreed to do it, and he worked so hard. We would record in four-hour sessions. He would be going four hours straight. We would have practically four hours of recording and by the end he was just drenched. He would have so much energy and so much passion”

It's awesome to hear that the actor put all of that energy into this brilliantly funny performance. I can't wait to see more of these outtakes on the Blu-ray!

Latest STAR WARS Rumor: Michael B. Jordan Considered for Boba Fett

0
0

Over the weekend, a big crazy rumor hit the internet that Fantastic Four star Michael B. Jordan has been considered for the role of Boba Fett in the standalone Star Wars film that's in development at Lucasfilm.

The news came from The Wrap's Jeff Sneider during an episode of the Meet the Movie Press Podcast (via Latino-Review). Sneider is a well-connected entertainment journalist who lands solid scoops all of the time, so there actually is some credence to this news.

Fantastic Four director Josh Trank was attached to helm A Star Wars Story that was rumored to focus on Boba Fett. Lucasfilm ended up letting him go, reportedly because of the drama surrounding the Fantastic Four production. After they parted ways, the studio was looking at bringing on Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray, who just signed on to direct Furious 8.

If Jordan were cast in the role of Boba Fett it would really change some things up. The young Boba Fett that we've come to know is a clone of his father, Jango Fett. He was played by actor Temuera Morrison, who is of Maori, Scottish, and Irish descent. Since Boba Fett is a clone of his dad, you’d think he would somewhat resemble him because that’s how clones work, but maybe they are looking to really switch things up. Morrison's voice was even used to dub over Fett’s voice in The Empire Strikes Back for the most recent DVD/Blu-ray release.

It’s easy to see why some Star Wars fans might be upset about seeing Jordan in the role of Boba Fett because it simply doesn’t make sense, especially with what we know about the character. But maybe there’s a chance that the Boba Fett we see in this upcoming standalone movie isn’t really Boba Fett. Maybe the story leads to another character taking over Fett’s armor and identity. That would definitely make things interesting, But then it really wouldn’t be a movie about Boba Fett and would probably confuse fans even more.

Casting Jordan in this iconic role would really confuse things, especially since everything we are seeing developed now is canon. This kind of casting would really throw all that off. I personally don’t think this is something that will happen at this point, but it’s strange that this is something Lucasfilm might have been considering. I imagine if they were, they had a good reason, and there would have been an explanation. Jordan is a hell of a great actor, though, so if they do have a place for him in the movie... awesome.

Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) is writing the script for the film, and at one point he and the studio were reportedly having issues cracking the story for the movie. Lucasfilm still hasn't found a new director for the project, but after Trank left, they opted to push Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo movie instead.

When Lucasfilm does eventually find a director and start development on the project again, I trust that they know what they’re doing with it, regardless of previous reports.

Infographic: The Scariest Monsters in Literature

We're inching closer to Halloween, and while there are countless movie and TV-related costumes worn each year, this new infographic from MorphCostumes provides a good reminder that sometimes characters from good old-fashioned books (remember those?) can be just as scary as the latest FX-laden creatures from the big and small screen. Using the appearance, powers, and evil intent of two dozen literature baddies, the site has ranked them in order of scariness with an unsurprising victor: Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's It. Take a look and see which other monsters made the list, and let us know what you think the proper ranking should be in the comments below (because let's face it: this is the internet, and no one is ever going to just peacefully agree with a list).

See GOTHAM's NYCC Sizzle Reel, Plus Paul Reubens Reprising His Role of Penguin's Father From BATMAN RETURNS

Gotham City is about to get reacquainted with a resident it hasn't seen since 1992. Paul Reubens, best known as the man who played Pee-wee Herman, is going to be reprising his role of the Penguin's father on FOX's Gotham, a role he originally played on film in Tim Burton's Batman Returns. Robin Lord Taylor, the actor who plays The Penguin on the FOX prequel series, shared the news on Twitter:

During the show's panel at NYCC this past weekend, a new sizzle real was released that features a tease of Michael Chiklis' hardass new police captain cleaning house in the GCPD. Apparently Gotham has gotten much better than it was in its first season, so fans are surely going to be ready for tonight's brand new episode.

Fozzy Bear as THE PUNISHER

One of Marco D’Alfonso’s latest amusing masterpieces gives us a look at Fozzy Bear as The Punisher. The artist calls the illustration "The Pun-isher", and it comes with a great tagline, “Puns Don’t Kill People…The Pun-isher Kills People!” This guy’s illustrations never cease to entertain me. You can check out some of the other art we've posted of his here.

BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Animated Film Might Be Rated R

Batman: The Killing Joke is one of the darkest Batman stories that's been told. I imagine it would be a hard comic to adapt without being slapped with an R rating. Well, it looks like that’s what we’re going to get. During Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Batman: Bad Blood panel at New York Comic Con, producer James Tucker revealed that DC Comics gave them permission to make an R-rated version of the film. Here are a couple tweets from Stitch Kingdom:

Well, he should! I don’t know why he wouldn’t, especially if he has the studio's permission! Tucker went on to clarify later that the rating won’t be decided for a long time. At least they have the option to make it rated R. Do you think they should take this film into R-rated territory?

The film will be based on the controversial and acclaimed graphic novel by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland. This is an insane story that follows The Joker as he escapes from Arkham Asylum and shoots Barbara Gordon, paralyzing her in order to terrorize her father, Jim Gordon. It's the closest thing we've ever gotten to an origin story for Batman's most terrifying villain.

The animated movie comes out in 2016, and here's the synopsis for the comic:

According to the grinning engine of madness and mayhem known as The Joker, that's all that separates the sane from the psychotic. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, he's out to prove his deranged point. And he's going to use Gotham City's top cop, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Barbara to do it.
Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight's closest friends. Can he finally put an end to the cycle of bloodlust and lunacy that links these two iconic foes before it leads to its fatal conclusion? And as the horrifying origin of the Clown Prince of Crime is finally revealed, will the thin line that separates Batman's nobility and The Joker's insanity snap once and for all?

J.J. Abrams Has Final Cut on STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, Says Studio Won't "Disney-fy" It

0
0

There's a lot of hope out there for the future of Star Wars right now; considering the disappointing prequel films, I think it might even be fair to say it's "a new hope." (See what I did there?) But one of the lingering concerns I've seen voiced by movie buffs is that since Disney now owns Lucasfilm, there's the possibility that new live-action Star Wars movies end up getting watered down by the traditionally family-friendly studio. Thankfully, Star Wars: The Force Awakens writer/director J.J. Abrams is here to put those fears to rest. In a recent Q&A event for Vanity Fair, Abrams spoke about how the parent company is handling the movie:

"Yeah, yeah," he responded when asked if he had final cut. "They let us make the movie we wanted to make."
"I cannot say enough about how Bog Iger and Alan Horn have understood this thing that is now part of the Disney company. And they’re not trying to Disney-fy it, they’re not doing anything other than, I think, an incredibly smart thing, which is letting Kathleen Kennedy — who is a remarkable person and producer — run and lead Lucasfilm to a place where I think it wants to go."

That's great news, and yet another reason to be excited about Star Wars. We'll finally find out whether all of this excitement is warranted when the film hits theaters on December 18th. You can watch the whole video below.

Spider-Man’s New Costume Will Reportedly Have a Classic Symbol

0
0

Over the past few months, we’ve heard a lot of different things regarding Spider-Man’s new suit that we’ll see when he’s introduced in Captain America: Civil War. We have yet to see it, though, so everything that we’ve been hearing is only rumor at this point.

Some of those rumors include the possibility that we will see two different suits in the movie: a homemade version created by Peter Parker, and one given to him by Tony Stark. We’ve seen an artist’s rendition of a description of the costume. Then Marvel CCO Joe Quesada said that Spidey's new look is “awesome” and that it will “blow people away.”

We now have a new detail regarding the costume to share with you. It comes from Heroic Hollywood. Apparently Marvel showed 15 minutes of Civil War a few days ago for a theater staff, and that footage included Spider-Man’s new costume. They say that the costume will include the classic spider symbol on his back that you see below:

spider-mans-new-costume-will-reportedly-have-a-classic-symbol

You might recognize the symbol from Spider-Man 62 and The Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. If this is true, I like that Marvel decided to take Spider-Man back to his roots. I always loved that classic suit design, and it will be great to see elements of it incorporated in the new suit.

We’ll get our first look at Spidey in costume in Captain America: Civil War, which hits theaters May 6th, 2016.

Mark Ruffalo and Jared Leto Secretly Walked The NYCC Floor in These Costumes

Actors who play The Incredible Hulk and The Joker in major Hollywood movies can't possibly walk the floor looking like themselves at a major convention like New York Comic Con without being mobbed by fans, so Mark Ruffalo and Jared Leto donned costumes in order to go under the radar.

At the convention this past weekend, Ruffalo cosplayed as a terrifying Luigi while hanging out with his son, while Leto apparently dressed as Rafiki from The Lion King and went as far as taking a picture with a guy who was cosplaying as his version of The Joker from Suicide Squad. As the caption indicates, the poor guy had no idea it was Leto under the mask. Check out some photos below:

Sony Execs Tell Daniel Craig To "Shut Up" When Talking About SPECTRE

0
0

While I do hate to perpetuate drama that really has little to do with the movie being promoted, it looks like the recent comments of Daniel Craig may allude to more than just his opinion of doing another James Bond film. The NY Post published an article yesterday saying Sony execs have instructed Craig to "shut up" when discussing the upcoming film, Spectre.

The instruction reportedly came after Craig said he'd rather "slit his wrists" than do another Bond film at the moment.

The article alleges that Craig was exceptionally hard to work with on set, and re-shoots were done just weeks before the film's release. Granted, some of those shots were due to a leg injury, but others were due to the studio's problems with the script.

Hopefully this off-screen trouble doesn't mar the overall quality of Spectre; it would be incredibly disappointing to have a poor follow-up to Skyfall, which is arguably one of the best Bond films of all time. It would also be upsetting if this drama leads to the last time we see Daniel Craig as Bond.

Who's in the wrong here?

Joss Whedon Made More Money From DR. HORRIBLE Than THE AVENGERS

0
0

Here's an intriguing fact Joss Whedon revealed during a reunion for his Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog at Paleyfest NY. The filmmaker said that he made more money from his self-financed internet musical web-series than he did from writing and directing Marvel's The Avengers, which grossed over $600 million!

He didn't offer any details on the amount of money he personally made, but it just goes to show you how powerful the internet is, and that making awesomely fun content actually has the ability to pay off in spades. It doesn't hurt to be Joss Whedon either, or to have the amazing cast he was able to put together.

Dr. Horrible was such an entertaining series, and when talking about it, Whedon said that when he couldn't get traditional Hollywood backing for it he decided to fund it himself. He jokingly explained, "This is my mid-life crisis. It isn’t a car — it’s an internet musical.”

I believe the success of Dr. Horrible ushered in a whole new era of internet greatness. After it blew up online, I started seeing more and more web series popping up, and now the internet is full of them.

It's great to know that it paid off for Whedon in the long run. It's kind of crazy to think that he made more money for this little web series than he did the epic blockbuster.

As far as a Dr. Horrible sequel goes, Whedon isn't ready to commit to it fully just yet. He did say that the plan for a sequel “is where it’s been for a long time.” Two weeks after the premiere of Dr. Horrible, the creative team started planning it out, writing songs and conceiving stories. Around that same time, Whedon went to work for Marvel, and after that Whedon said, “and the rest is a blur.”

I hope we do eventually see a sequel, the fans sure would love it! We'll just have to wait and see what Whedon decides to do next.

This past weekend at New York Comic Con, Marvel premiered the first footage from Daredevil Season 2. That footage has now been released online for all the fans to enjoy! The trailer starts off with a recap of the first season, and then concludes with a little bit of footage from Season 2. That footage teases Elodie Yung as Electra and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. It also offers shots of returning characters such as Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil. It's not a lot of footage, but it's enough to get fans excited to see more! Daredevil Season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2016. Check Out All of Marty and Doc's Costumes From The BACK TO THE FUTURE Trilogy

0
0

Great Scott! We're only nine days away from October 21st, 2015, the date Back to the Future fans have been waiting for since the second movie hit theaters back in 1989. And since Halloween also conveniently happens to take place this month, it's a great time for this infographic from HalloweenCostumes that lists all of the costumes worn by Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and Biff Tannen throughout the time-traveling trilogy.

A small correction, though: in the section of Doc costumes from Back to the Future Part III, the first picture they have claims Doc wore a yellow shirt and hat in 1985. But that took place in 1955, as Doc helped Marty prepare to head back to the Old West. Hey, I get it: time travel can be confusing. Which BTTF costume is your favorite?

Sam Raimi Reveals His Insane Plot for EVIL DEAD 4

0
0

Before Ash Vs. Evil Dead went into development, there was a lot of talk regarding a fourth film in the Evil Dead horror franchise. Director Sam Raimi had been working on it for a while, and in a recent interview with Screencrush, Raimi revealed what his idea for Evil Dead 4 was, and it would have been completely insane!

He was working on the script with his brother Ivan Raimi, and it combined two separate endings for Army of Darkness. In the theatrical version of the film, Ash makes it back home to the present day and ends up fighting a Deadite in S Mart. Then there's an alternate ending in which Ash screws up the spell, and he ends up waking up in a post-apocalyptic future.

Raimi revealed that Evil Dead 4 would have featured those two characters of Ash in parallel timelines. The film would have follows the stories for the Ash of the present, and the Ash in the future.

That’s actually a pretty damn brilliant idea that I would have loved to see. It’s such a cool and unique idea, but ultimately Raimi felt that it might have been confusing. Even though this is something that we will probably never see, it's OK, because I'm still way excited for Ash Vs. Evil Dead. Who knows, though — maybe if the series is a big hit and it continues on, this could be an idea that Raimi decides to implement somewhere down the line.

What do you think about the double Ash parallel storyline? Just in case you've never seen the alternate ending, here ya go!

Batman Reveals His Contingency Plan to Kill Superheroes in NYCC Trailer for ROBOT CHICKEN DC COMICS SPECIAL 3

I somehow missed the first two Robot Chicken DC Comics Specials, but a third entry is coming up on October 18th on Adult Swim. The company released a new trailer at this past weekend's New York Comic Con, and while most of the content is the typical goofy Robot Chicken stuff — Superman tricking Batman into thinking he can run around the world to turn back time and save his parents, a Dukes of Hazzard-style chase between the Batmobile and the cops, etc. — there are a couple of moments that might be considered a little NSFW, even for stop-motion characters.
