10 Biggest Blockbuster Movie Mistakes You Didn't See

$

I'm not one of those kinds of movie watchers who notices every little mistake in the movies I see. I know a few people like that, and they are so damn critical of it. I don't know how I would be able to enjoy a movie if I was looking out for stuff like that, so I just don't do it. I try to enjoy movies for what they are regardless of any technical mistakes.

Screen Rant has released another Top 10 video that points out ten movie mistakes in some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters. Until I watched this video, I never noticed any of these things. Now, I'll notice them every time I watch the movies! It's an interesting video worth checking out, and this is the note that came along with it.

It’s almost impossible to release a film that doesn’t include a single flawed stunt, unexpected mistake, or even a minor plot hole most fans will overlook. When the budgets get bigger and the action sequences and running times grow along with them, the errors that can slip through are often hard to believe. And for the die-hard fans, the best bloopers can make a film worth watching all by themselves. Here are ScreenRant’s 10 Biggest Blockbuster Movie Mistakes You Didn’t See.

Check out the video below and let us know if you caught any of the movie mistakes mentioned in it.

Mel Gibson has started shooting his next film, Hacksaw Ridge, and he released a photo and statement to mark the occasion. The movie stars Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, and Sam Worthington, who are all shown in the photo above. This is the statement Gibson released:

“While production has only just begun, there is already incredible camaraderie between the cast. Not only is Andrew perfect for the role of Desmond Doss, the entire cast are an incredible mix of experience, depth and exciting up and coming talent.”

I’m interested in seeing Gibson’s vision of this story, which tells the true World War II story of the "307th Infantry, 77th Army Division, 1st Battalion, Company B as they train for battle. The story begins at a base camp in South Carolina and follows the recruits as they learn basic wartime survival skills before being deployed to Japan where they come face to face with the action at the Battle of Okinawa."

Garfield plays Corporal Desmond Doss. He was the first conscientious objector to receive the US congressional Medal of Honor after acts of bravery and sacrifice, saving 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa.

Vaughn plays Sgt. Howell, "a non-commissioned officer from Alabama whose job is to make sure the soldiers are ready for battle. Although he tries to instill fear in his soldiers by pushing them to their limits both physically and mentally, it is clear that he really cares about them and will do whatever it takes to keep them alive. Having a member who refuses to shoot and kill the enemy contradicts everything the sergeant has learned about war."

Regardless of how you feel about Gibson as a person, It’s hard to deny that the guy is a talented filmmaker who knows how to tell great stories. Hacksaw Ridge is Gibson’s first film as a director since Apocalypto back in 2006.

"Dinosaur" is a 30-second animated short that is incredibly clever, funny, and has a surprising element that you won't see coming. This may be a very short film, but it sure does deliver some big and effective entertainment. The amazing short was created by Ning Cheng for a film workshop assignment, and everyone that I've shown it to has busted up laughing. I really hope you all enjoy it.

Official Extended Trailer for THE X-FILES Unleashed

Yesterday we posted a low-res promo for the upcoming X-Files revival. Fox has since released an official extended version of the spot that is sure to get fans of The X-Files excited for these six episodes that continue the mysterious adventures of Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson).

After the last X-Files movie was released, I honestly never thought that I’d see it come back like this. I hoped it would, but now that it’s actually happening, the excitement swelling within me is ready to explode! I’m just starting to come to terms with the fact that this is really happening. You’ve got to understand that the reason I feel this way is because I’m such a diehard fan of this franchise.

The X-Files returns January 24th, 2016 on Fox.

Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES will be a thrilling, six-episode event series helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. Production on THE X-FILES event series is set to begin in summer 2015.
THE X-FILES originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny), as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

Guillermo del Toro Says His Next Project Is a Small Indie Film

A couple of weeks ago, a rumor surfaced regarding an original film project that Guillermo del Toro was developing for Fox Searchlight that was pitched as Wall-E meets Splash. Now in an interview with Variety, the director says that the next project he’ll be directing is “a small, independently financed movie that he is keeping under tight wraps.”

I can’t help but think that this is the same project, and I couldn't be more excited to see Del Toro take on another small indie project. Those usually turn out to be his best movies.

What does this mean for Pacific Rim 2? I assume that’s the reason why the movie has been delayed. The director says that the sequel is still alive and well even though it was recently pushed off the release schedule for Universal Pictures. He tells the outlet:

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s not cancelled, just postponed. Right now, we have to put a budget and screenplay together, present it to Universal and Legendary, and they will make a decision.”

This smaller film project will just give him something to do in the meantime. It's good to know that he’s keeping himself busy instead of waiting around for something to happen, As you know, that has happened to him on several projects that he has developed over the years, and many ended up falling apart.

Robert Zemeckis Discusses Casting and Firing Eric Stoltz in BACK TO THE FUTURE

As many of you already know, Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty McFly in Back to the Future, and then was famously fired after a few weeks of shooting because he wasn't right for the part.

Director Robert Zemeckis hasn't really talked much about the events that took place surrounding the Stoltz drama, but in a recent interview for the upcoming Back to the Future documentary, Back in Time, he opens up about it. EW has a clip from the doc that you can watch below.

The filmmaker discusses why cast Stoltz in the first place, and also why he ultimately had to fire and replace him. Universal Pictures is the reason that he was cast in the film. They pushed for Zemeckis to cast the actor after seeing the movie Mask, but the director never felt like he was the right guy for the job. The studio told Zemeckis that if he didn't Stoltz's performance, he could let him go, and that's exactly what Zemeckis ended up doing. The director says:

“Eric is a really good actor, and I made the decision to put him in the movie, but it turned out that his instincts and the type of the comedy [of] the film we were doing weren’t really gelling."

The filmmaker made the right move. The movie would not have been the hilarious classic that it is today. Thankfully, they were able to cast Michael J. Fox, and work around his schedule with Family Ties to make the movie. Make sure to watch the clip below, and for more information on the story of Stoltz in Back to the Future click here. Kevin Feige Discusses Spider-Man's Great Purpose in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

During a Q&A promoting the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talked about how excited he is to be able to bring Spider-Man into the MCU, and the great purpose he will serve. He also talks about Captain America: Civil War.

"Making that agreement ... was great, and was really amazing, and on a personal level making these movies, it means a lot because I think we can do great things with Spider-Man. I think Spider-man can serve great purpose in our universe and that's where he belongs. That was what was unique about him in the comics was not that he was the only superhero in the world; it's that he was a totally different kind of superhero when compared against all the other ones in the Marvel universe at the time."

It's still incredible to me that Sony and Marvel were able to come up with a way to make this happen. It seemed like it would be impossible, but it just proves that nothing is impossible. When Feige was asked by a reporter about Spider-Man being late to the party in the MCU he responded, "It's not about when you show up, it's about what you do once you're there." He explained:

"This has been a dream of ours for a long time. We always had contingency plans, which we always do anyway. Are we going to be able to make another deal with this actor? If so, we're going to do this; if not, we're going to do this. If we get the rights to a certain character, that's great; we're going to do this. If not, we're going to do this. We always sort of operate under those various alternate timelines available and ready to shift if something happens."

He went on to say, "The most important thing as a standalone is relaunching Spider-Man in his own standalone movie with his own storylines that fits into this universe. That is job number one for us. ... The connectivity is great, but it doesn't drive the train."

Feige then talked about Captain America: Civil War, where Peter Parker/Spider-Man will be introduced. Tom Holland will play the character, who will be a 15-year-old teenager in the movie.

"There were a lot of characters in The Winter Soldier, but it felt like a very singular and relatively simple thriller. Civil War follows in that same way. I think that's something [directors Joe and Anthony Russo] pride themselves on, and our screenwriters Chris Markus and Steve McFeely are excellent at giving each character just enough. They're not full arcs for everybody; it's just enough that their presence is felt and important, but that the very clear single story that is being told is being served at all times."

The MCU is about to get even more exciting with the inclusion of Spider-Man. Fans have been waiting for this to happen for a long time, and I can't wait to see Marvel's vision of him brought to life on the big screen.

This Toilet Paper Dispenser Sounds Like Chewbacca

Sometimes it's the really simple things that easily amuse me. This is a short video that features a toilet paper dispenser that sounds like Chewbacca yelling when you pull out the toilet paper. There's nothing more to it than that. I've heard this sound a thousand times before in public bathrooms, but now every time I hear it, it's going to be a whole new experience.

DAREDEVIL and Other Marvel Shows Will Be Referenced in the Marvel Films

$
0
0

We've seen and heard several references to the events that have taken place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the TV shows that Marvel has developed, but we have yet to see any Marvel movie reference any events in the shows. I'm sure that trend will continue with the upcoming series that Marvel is developing.

In case you were wondering if the Marvel Cinematic Universe would ever reference the events taking place in the TV series like Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the answer is yes. During a recent Q&A with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, he was asked if this would ever be the case, and he said it was inevitable. Here's his full response:

"I think that's inevitable at some point as we're plotting the movies going forward and they're doing the shows. It's easier for them. They're more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do, which is one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron in the show. Going forward and certainly as they begin to do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have -- particularly Daredevil -- that that may occur. A lot of it is by the time we start doing a movie, they'd be midway through a season; by the time it comes out they'd be done with the second, starting the third season. Finding timing on that is not always easy."

It will be interesting to see what this all leads too. Referencing the events of Daredevil in the movies would be cool. But you know what would be even cooler? Actually incorporating Daredevil into the movies!

At one point during the Q&A, someone asked about seeing Vincent D'Onforio's Kingpin going up against Peter Parker in a solo Spider-Man film. In regards to that, Feige said:

"I don't know, probably. That would probably be the cool thing to do. That particular scenario has not come up yet."

It will be interesting to see how the connections between the movies and shows ultimately play out, if they even play out at all. Do you think these things should be crossing over more, or do you think referencing certain events or characters is as far as Marvel should go, and that they should keep the movies and shows separate?

George R.R. Martin Reportedly Confirms The GAME OF THRONES Movie and Offers Details

There have been rumors of a possible Game of Thrones movie for over a year already. George R.R. Martin has previously confirmed that there has been talk of a movie, but in a recent report from the Daily Star (via Pajiba), Martin reportedly revealed that the movie is now actually in the works, and even offered up some details about it. Unfortunately, Martin will not be involved with it because he's got a lot of other stuff on his plate at the moment. According to the report, the author said:

"There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and DB and David are dealing with. I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do."

At least he's committed to completing the things that he needs to finish. Martin apparently went on to say that the film will include flashbacks and focus on parts of his books that the HBO show didn't use. He revealed:

"They are looking at dipping back in time during certain periods of the series, which could be examined as a one off plot. That means that some of the big characters who fans have seen die on screen could be resurrected."

That would be cool! The question is, will the movie use those same actors from the series who were killed off? I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this turns out when HBO is ready to move forward on the film.

I want to approach this information cautiously because I'm not really familiar with the source. Until we get official confirmation, let's treat this is as a rumor for now. One thing we do know for sure is that a movie is being discussed.

Damon Lindelof Explains Why THE LEFTOVERS Season 2 Almost Didn't Happen

$

HBO's controversial series The Leftovers is set to start its second season this Sunday. I say controversial, because the series had a very "love/hate" relationship with critics and viewers alike. Those who followed the series primarily due to the involvement of Damon Lindelof were worried they were being baited into another LOST scenario, and critics widely panned the series as too glum.

Lindelof spoke candidly about the show's issues with Buzzfeed, and flat out said there was a point where he didn't think a second season of the show could happen:

Let’s start to talk about what life looks like in Mapleton a week or a year or five years later in the way that, you know, most television dramas would continue, whether it’s Desperate Housewives or Friday Night Lights or even Lost. And we started to talk about that, and I started feeling just like, You know what? Maybe we’re done. Maybe there shouldn’t be a second season of The Leftovers. This is just feeling like we’re continuing for a continuation’s sake.

This explains why the show will see our characters traveling to a city which claims to have no people departed. Right now you may be asking, aren't they going away from the book? Yes... In fact, there WAS only one book titled The Leftovers, so whatever happens from the end of that story onward is all creative license.

Lindelof tells Lost fans not to worry, though, there will never be an answer to the disappearance of 2% of the world's population. Many of you probably are asking the same question I am...why?!

That’s a really fair question, and I think that as frustrating as it may be, it’s also one that I don’t want to answer. To answer your question is to basically answer a much more specific question, which is: There is a disappearance in the second season of the show that seems to be a much more specific mystery than the overarching mystery of The Departure. So are we going to answer where those girls went?

And the answer is: We’re not if they departed!

I was one of the people who really liked the first season and was super bummed when I found out it may not come back, so I'm psyched for this Sunday. Catch it on HBO at 9 pm EST.

Watch: Natalie Dormer Heads Into The Woods in Horror Film THE FOREST

You'll probably recognize actress Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones or as Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, but now it's time for her to undergo the rite of passage that seemingly all leading ladies must endure: headlining her own horror movie. The film is called The Forest, and it Dormer plays a woman looking for her twin sister, who's vanished in the suicide forest at the base of Mount Fuji.

“The Forest,” which is set in the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mt. Fuji, tells the story of a young American woman who goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders into the forest.

MTV has the first trailer, which you can watch below. While I haven't seen that setting on film before, the rest of this movie unfortunately looks very familiar — so much so that even though I adore Dormer in Game of Thrones, I'll probably end up sitting this one out. It just doesn't look like it has enough originality to justify a ticket purchase. The Forest arrives in theaters on January 8th, 2016.

CIVIL WAR Will Close Out The CAPTAIN AMERICA Trilogy

$

0

We've known that some big things will be happening in Captain America: Civil War, but I never really thought of the movie closing out a trilogy of films. But that's exactly what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed in an interview with MTV. This upcoming Captain America film will close out a story arc that began with Captain America: The First Avenger. When asked about the film, he said:

“It’s very much, in a certain way, the completion of a Captain America trilogy. I think one day you’ll look back and watch — ’Captain America: The First Avenger,’ ’Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ and ’Captain America: Civil War’ — and it’ll be one of the most unique and different trilogies ever around a single character.”

Feige went on to say that the non-Captain America characters being brought into Civil War also played an important part in the story:

“[We’re] bringing in some of the other players, most importantly Tony Stark, to tell that ’Civil War’ story. But it is very much a sequel to ’Winter Soldier.'”

Now just because this is the end of a trilogy of films, it doesn't mean we won't ever seen another Captain America movie again. They could always start a new story arc for a new trilogy! Chris Evans has been very vocal about reprising his role of Steve Rogers as long as long as Marvel will want him back. There were rumors that they might kill off the character in Civil War, but Evans has already confirmed that he will be in Avengers: Infinity War.

If Marvel does move forward with another solo Captain America film, it won't happen until sometime after 2019 after the second part of Infinity War is released. We'll just have to be patient and see what Marvel decides to do.

Heartwarming and Heartbreaking Ghostly Animated Short Film TOMBES & MANEGES

I have an absolutely beautiful CG animated short film for you to watch today called Tombes & Manèges that you have to see. It's an entertaining ghostly film that is set in an isolated cemetery. The story centers on a "rather boorish gravedigger" who "tries to amuse his son in a rather silly way."

The simple story it tells is both incredibly heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. You'll see what I mean when you watch the short, but this movie was really very sweet and touching.

The short was wonderfully animated, and I enjoyed the character designs and CG animation style that was made to look like stop-motion. I really hope that you take the time to watch this; I think you'll really appreciate it.

The film was created by Nicolas Albrecht, Jérémie Auray, Alexandre Garnier, Antoine Giulani, Sandrine Normand, Ambre Pochet, and Marc Visintin for Isart Digital

Universal Commits To "Fully-Immersive" PACIFIC RIM 2 as PITCH PERFECT 3 Snags Its Release Date

$

Though writer/director Guillermo del Toro is going to be working on a small indie project next, Pacific Rim 2 is not dead yet. Production has been delayed indefinitely, but though there was some speculation the film may never get made at all, it seems Universal and Legendary Pictures are still very much in support of the movie. That's great news for those who have been fearful that this was yet another movie that would slip through del Toro's fingers and fall forever into development hell.

Pitch Perfect 3 is taking Pacific Rim 2's once-planned release date of August 4th, 2017, and in a press release, the studio said the following:

The filmmakers, Legendary and Universal Pictures are committed to having PACIFIC RIM 2, the sequel to 2013’s PACIFIC RIM, which generated more than $411 million at the global box office, be the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves. To this end, the decision was made to delay the production and release of PACIFIC RIM 2 so that the creative team can continue in its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film.

That's a lot of flowery language likely intended to justify the film's continued development to the studio's financial investors, but still, if they were going to cancel the movie altogether, there's no way they'd release a statement like this. Publicly committing to the sequel is a good sign that we'll eventually end up seeing it, even if it takes a year or two longer than what was originally planned.
