Deadpool would be very happy to learn that he has now been made in cake form, and as you can see, it is pretty freakin' cool. It amazes me what bakers/artists are doing with cakes these days. It's almost a shame that people destroy these works of art by eating them. This particular cake was made by Nerdache Cakes

Ridley Scott May Be Planning Multiple PROMETHEUS Sequels

Ridley Scott's new movie The Martian comes out on October 2nd, and after that, the director is heading back to space yet again for Prometheus 2. But according to a new interview with German film site FilmFutter, that may not be the only sequel he has planned for the franchise. There was some confusion around the time of the original movie's release about whether or not it was actually a prequel to Alien, but the movie's ending confirmed that it was (the creation of the iconic xenomorph pretty much answered that question if there was any lingering doubt). Now Scott says he's getting closer to connecting the stories of the two movies, but it might happen in yet another Prometheus sequel. ComingSoon has the quotes:

“Yes,” Scott replied when asked if Prometheus would directly connect to Alien, “but it won’t be in the next one. It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise… The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.”

Since these quotes were translated from German, there may be something lost in translation, but it certainly sounds like he has plans for a few more Prometheus movies before the link between the two is finally complete. Could that explain the rumored delay of Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5? If Scott has such grand plans, I can certainly see why he wouldn't want Blomkamp confusing audiences by dropping a sequel to Alien in the midst of his prequels to Alien. We'll have to see if this ends up being true, but what do you think? Would you watch multiple sequels to Prometheus?

Marvel has already fully completed the first two phases of their cinematic universe, and they are on the verge of launching phase three with Captain America: Civil War in 2016. That is going to launch a whole new bag of surprises and action-packed adventures. Before we get into that though, let's take a look back at the phase that started it all.

Jakub Ignarski has edited together a 10 minute video retrospective for phase one of the MCU. It's been awhile since I've watched any of these films, so it's kind of fun to relive the adventures through this video. It starts with Jon Favreau's Iron Man in 2008 and takes us through Joss Whedon's The Avengers in 2012. Enjoy!

See MAD MAX: FURY ROAD in Black and White

A few months ago, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller spoke with Edgar Wright about Miller's newly-released movie, and said the following:

"One thing I’ve noticed is that the default position for everyone is to de-saturate post-apocalyptic movies. There’s only two ways to go, make them black and white — the best version of this movie is black and white, but people reserve that for art movies now. The other version is to really go all-out on the color. The usual teal and orange thing? That’s all the colors we had to work with. The desert’s orange and the sky is teal, and we either could de-saturate it, or crank it up, to differentiate the movie. Plus, it can get really tiring watching this dull, de-saturated color, unless you go all the way out and make it black and white."

Miller reportedly fought for a black and white version of the movie to appear on the Blu-ray release with no dialogue, but for whatever reason, that didn't happen. Now an anonymous film student has created a black and white (or "black and chrome") version with only the so we can see the movie closer to how Miller intended.

Since the film's colors are so vibrant, it's strange to watch it with all of that stripped away, and the black and white colors add an almost otherworldly quality to the visuals. It definitely makes me appreciate the music more, though, since I was so taken aback by what Miller and his team were able to accomplish on my first viewing that I barely even registered that there was a score in the background. Paul Bettany Discusses The Vision and Working on CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

Marvel showed off some new footage from Captain America: Civil War at the AsiaPop Convention recently, and you can read a description of the footage that was screened here. While at the convention, actor Paul Bettany did a Q&A session with fans, and in the process he talked about his character, The Vision, and what is was like for him playing the character again in Civil War.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Bettany was asked to compare his experience working on Avengers: Age of Ultron to Civil War, and this is what he said:

"It was a lot of work! We all had a bit more fun. You know, there were more improvised jokes between me and Downey Jr., and me and Chris Evans, and it was a really loose atmosphere on-set. It was one really loose set, it was great! I would totally lie to you if it wasn’t, but I don’t have to lie. And we all get on. They’re all a really nice bunch of boys and girls. They’re all happy to be there. They’re being terribly well-paid, so they should be happy to be there. And work’s really creative and fun, you know? I got to be born on camera, you know, that’s unlikely to ever happen again."

It's awesome to hear that he had such a great time making this movie, and working with his co-stars. He went on to explain that the best thing about playing a superhero in these movies was the stability in work that he has. He didn't say how many more Marvel films he would play Vision in, but he did say:

"And also, as an actor, the other part of it is knowing that you have work in a year’s time. I’ve never had that. Do Jarvis, you should do Jarvis. No, find somebody else. Oh, I … It’s the first time in my life that I’ve had the security of knowing that I’ve got a couple of movies to make.”

The guy will obviously also show up in the Avengers: Infinity War films. The actor went on to discuss his preparation for playing Vision as well as some of the character elements he'll be bring to Civil War from Age of Ultron

"I was given comics. I also was looking to think about what could be edifying for me to learn. I took the opportunity—you see my character get born… something unlikely to ever happen to me again. He must be both omnipotent and yet totally naive at the same time. And experiencing the world in real time and his place in it. Is he going to be a force of good or a force of evil? It was really interesting, fun to play with, because he is dangerous, you do not know if he’s going to go one way or another. And I’m continuing that theme in Captain America 3."

Paul Bettany is perfect as The Vision, I loved his portrayal of the character in Age of Ultron, and I'm excited to see how that character has evolved when we catch up with him in Civil War. The movie is set to be released on May 6th, 2016.

Nightmarishly Bizarre Reimagining of THE SIMPSONS Intro

An artist by the name of Yoann Hervo who resides in Paris, France has reimagined the classic opening sequence of The Simpsons, and it is the most insane thing that you’ll see all day. After watching this video, I couldn’t help but imagine Hervo dressed as a creepy evil clown as he made this. This is exactly something that I’d see in my nightmares. The bizarre video came with the following note:

This opening is just a small part of a collaboration project made up by Charles Huettner, Ivan Dixon, and James Hatley. The original idea was to invite some animators to produce, in their own style, a short story in the Simpsons universe. Despite the fact that the project hasn’t been achieved, I wanted to finish what I started. Thank you.

Kit Harington's UK Spy Film MI-5 Gets December Release in US

Those of you who regularly watch the BBC may be familiar with a spy show called MI-5, or Spooks, that ran from 2002 until 2011. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington starred in a movie continuation of the story which premiered earlier this summer in the UK under the title Spooks: The Greater Good. Now Deadline reports that same movie is getting a US release this December from Saban Films under the title of MI-5. According to the site:

The film tracks the hunt for an escaped terrorist who breaks custody during a routine handover. When MI-5 is humiliated and relations with the CIA crippled, MI-5 agent Will Holloway (Harington) must team up with his former mentor, disgraced MI-5 Intelligence Chief Harry Pearce (Peter Firth), to catch the terrorist before he commits a devastating attack in London. Jennifer Ehle, Tuppence Middleton, and Elyes Gabel also star.

I'm not sure how this film will play to American audiences, especially those who didn't watch the show, but it's good to see Harington breaking away from his Jon Snow role and exploring new options in his career. His co-star Maisie Williams just signed on to topline a film yesterdaySophie Turner is playing Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, and Richard Madden is appearing opposite Idris Elba in a spy thriller called Bastille Day, so it seems like the Stark children are doing OK outside of Westeros.

ANGRY BIRDS Trailer Starring Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, and More

Like it or not, a movie based on smash hit mobile game Angry Birds is on the way. Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment have released the first teaser trailer, which sets the stage and introduces us to the main characters. Since the first Pirates of the Caribbean turned out to be a really fun movie, I've been trying my best to avoid judging films that are based on weird properties before I see them, but the last scene in this trailer pushes my patience to the limit. I hope, for the sake of all the parents who are going to be forced to watch this, that sequence is designed specifically for the trailer and doesn't actually appear in the movie.

The Angry Birds Movie has a great voice cast, though, including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Bill Hader, Peter Dinklage, Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, and Jillian Bell, and it flies into theaters in May of 2016.

The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, We're the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride, This is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.

The Court of Owls Has Been Confirmed for GOTHAM

Earlier this year Gotham executive producer John Stephens said that the secret society known as The Court of Owls was being discussed for inclusion in the second season of the Batman prequel series.

We now have confirmation from Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller that The Court of Owls will eventually show up in the series. During and interview with ComicBook.com, Heller was asked about it and this is what he told them:

“Yeah, absolutely, [I’m interested]. I won’t say that it’s part of – I don’t even want to say that, because I don’t want to spoil part of the story. The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology. The comic book fans know about it, but I would suspect the larger audience is not so familiar. We sometimes have to make a distinction between the ‘Nolan-era Batman movie fans’ and the comic book fans. It’s not that they’re two separate audiences, just that there are two levels of engagement. Court of Owls is very much deep DC mythology.

"We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once.”

It doesn't sound like the secret society will be introduced in season two, but the seeds are being planted for when the full reveal does come around. Heller went on to say:

“The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne’s journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when.”

I've always loved the mythology behind The Court of Owls, and it's exciting to know that they will be a part of Gotham. I'm really curious to see exactly how the society will be implemented and used in the series.

Artist Martin Ansin has created this stunning poster for The Rocketeer for MondoCon 2015. The Rocketeer has been a favorite character of mine for a long time. I love the period setting and the awesome retro style. Ansin has such a cool art style, and he captures everything that I love about this character perfectly in his art deco print. I'd sure love to get a print of this.

The regular Rocketeer print is above and the variant print is below. This is just one of many prints that will be available at MondoCon, which takes place on October 3rd and 4th at the Marchesa Hall & Theater in Austin, TX. Thanks to  /Film, who debuted the art.

Vin Diesel Has Reportedly Been Difficult as Studio Looks for FURIOUS 8 Director

$

Looks like there might be some problems with the development of Furious 8. Universal Pictures is currently on the hunt for a director. Neither Justin Lin nor James Wan are coming back to helm the sequel because they are booked with other projects. Wan was initially signed on to direct it but stepped away to direct The Conjuring 2.

There seem to be some challenges that the studio is facing at the moment. One is that co-president of production Jeffrey Kirschenbaum, who oversaw the series, is no longer with the studio. The second deals with star/producer of the movie Vin Diesel. According to THR's insiders, Diesel isn't an easy actor to work with, which is weird because I've never heard anything like that about him before.

"Sources say Diesel proved extraordinarily difficult. As a producer, he is said to have questioned even small details on elaborate action sequences, often holding up the complex production. He also was known to summon filmmakers to repeated late-night script sessions to make him comfortable with his character and dialogue."

Diesel's spokesman says this is all nonsense and Fast and Furious producer Neal Moritz says, "Obviously, if there was any issue, we wouldn't be making the eighth [film] with [Diesel] right now." Apparently, one of the reasons why Wan walked away from a big deal to direct Furious 8 was because of how demanding it was to the point where it affected his health. The report goes on to offer the following details:

"Sources say Diesel must be consulted on director choices but does not have veto power over studio picks. (Some at Universal fear that Diesel will, at some point, want to direct one of the films himself. The ambition seems to be there: In 2009, Diesel wrote and directed an 18-minute short, 'Los Bandoleros,' that was intended to set up his return in the fourth Fast film.) But another source says Diesel wouldn't want to expose himself to such scrutiny on a high-profile extravaganza."

One thing we do know is that Diesel is 100% committed to the franchise. An insider says, "Vin is tireless. It may be difficult, but he is trying to win with this thing." The script for the film is currently be written by screenwriter Chris Morgan.

In defense of Diesel, the guy was going through an insane amount of stress during the production of Furious 7 with the passing of his friend Paul Walker

Wesley Snipes Discusses His BLADE Conversations with Marvel

There's been a lot of talk recently regarding Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade for Marvel. Just last month a rumor hit the internet that if Marvel does decide to move forward with the project, it will be set around Blade's daughter Fallon Grey.

During a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Snipes talked about his ongoing conversations with Marvel Studios, saying:

“There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it.”

The actor went on to point out that he's still in shape and ready to take on the role when Marvel decides to pull the trigger on it:

“I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”

I'm pretty sure that he does know what's going to happen, I think he's just good at keeping his mouth shut about it. The actor then shared his thoughts on the possibility of Blade getting to interact with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“That would be interesting. I mean, I know it’s in the comic book. It would be interesting to see where they would place him and where he really would fit in. He’s got to bite somebody. I don’t know who he’s going to bite.”

I'd love to see Blade join the ranks of the MCU! The thought of him interacting with Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest is kinda fun. Who know which of the superheroes will still be around by the time Blade gets made, though? If a Blade movie does happen, I imagine it won't happen until Phase 4. Of course, there have been other rumors that suggest Blade could show up in Phase 2 of Marvel's Netflix series plan. That would actually make more sense.

New ASH VS EVIL DEAD Featurette - "The Reluctant Hero and His Crew"

I've got another entertaining featurette for Ash Vs. Evil Dead for you to watch. It's called "The Reluctant Hero and His Crew," and it focuses on the man that Ash has become since he last battled the Deadites in Army of Darkness, as well as his crew and their roles in helping him fight evil when it manifests itself again. The video includes interviews with the cast and crew talking about the series and also offers some fun new footage. If you're excited about this series, then it will be worth it to you to watch this.

Even a man with a chainsaw hand can't fight Evil alone. See who gets roped into Ash's journey on Ash vs Evil Dead.
“Ash vs Evil Dead” follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
The Ash vs Evil Dead cast cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Burn Notice) in the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (Salem, Spartacus) as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past, and Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.

Ash Vs. Evil Dead will premiere on Starz on October 31st.

Olga Kurylenko Kicks Ass in a Robe in Trailer For Action Movie MOMENTUM

Here's the new trailer for Momentum, an action flick starring former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) as a badass infiltration expert who is in possession of a very important jump drive that some very bad men apparently want very badly. I spoke with Kurylenko a few years ago during the press tour for Oblivion, and she struck me as an extremely intelligent person, so I'm a little disappointed to see her starring in something that looks so bland.

The dialogue sounds dreadful, and the action looks completely uninspired. I don't even think this is worth watching on Netflix, let alone paying to see it in a theater or On Demand. But if you're a glutton for punishment (or just really mediocre-looking action films), Momentum arrives on October 16th.

After being unmasked during a heist, an infiltration expert (Olga Kurylenko) finds herself mixed up in a conspiracy and deadly game of cat-and-mouse with a master assassin (James Purefoy).

Sam Mendes and His Team Tease SPECTRE's Action Scenes in New Video Blog

The latest video blog for Spectre has arrived, giving us some more behind-the-scenes footage of what we'll ultimately see play out in the 24th installment of the James Bond film franchise. Previous video blogs have centered on why director Sam Mendes returned to tell the storythe Bond girls, and a car chase set in Rome, and now this latest video tackles the movie's biggest action scenes. There's a focus on practical stunts — Mendes seems very keen on doing things for real — and at least one huge explosion, so check this out if you're interested. Spectre arrives in US theaters on November 6th.

A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal.  Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE.
Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond's actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot.
As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.

Watch: Cate Blanchett and Robert Redford Search For TRUTH in First Trailer

I just got back from seeing a screening of Spotlight, the new film about the team of journalists who broke the Catholic priest sex scandal, and let me say this: it's going to take a heck of a movie to unseat that one as the best journalism-based film of the year. Truth will attempt to do just that. It follows famed reporter Dan Rather (played by classic journo movie All The President's Men alum Robert Redford) and his producer (Cate Blanchett) as they grapple with their own scandal, one that centers on a story they wrote that was factually inaccurate. This is the true story behind the demise of Rather's legendary career, and you can see the first trailer and poster for the film below via Yahoo. I'm intrigued. Truth will be in select theaters on October 16th.

TRUTH is an independent feature film based on the book "Truth and Duty" by Mary Mapes. In the vein of "All The President's Men" and "The Insider", it is the incredible true story of Mary Mapes (played by Cate Blanchett), an award-winning CBS News Journalist and Dan Rather's producer, who broke the Abu-Ghraib prison abuse story, among others.
The film chronicles the story Mapes and Rather (played by Robert Redford) uncovered that a sitting US president may have been AWOL from the United States National Guard for over a year during the Vietnam War. When the story blew up in their face, the ensuing scandal ruined Dan Rather's career, nearly changed a US Presidential election, and almost took down all of CBS News in the process.

In the immortal words — well, word, actually — of Keanu Reeves' Neo: "Whoa."

Editor Pablo Fernández Eyre, who created a supercut of movie sequences in which time stands still that we posted yesterday, is back with a video examining the mirrored symmetry of The Wachowskis' The Matrix trilogy. It's a testament to the directors' ability to pull off insane visual imagery that a few of these shots actually look like they could belong in the movie as-is, instead of having been altered by someone else. Let me know what you think below.
